Works - with help from the developer! When it works - it's a brilliant little gadget. For me, the connectivity and control works very reliably (tried from a galaxy S4 to S2) as does the video on the web interface to the S2 but I had issues with the android to android video streaming. After talking to the developer it seems that you have to try the back camera, disconnect and then try the front camera or vice versa (whatever works for you) - the streaming then works fine. Small issue once you know the workaround (hence the drop of a star) but overall a great product and bit of fun for the price.
Works ? Works fine using Vodafone smart 3 and iPad 2 as controller
Threw it in the bin today. Might as well have burnt the money spent on it
Rubbish don't buy it It works on my Samsung phone but can't get it to connect to anything. Either all incompatible or just won't work. As it only uses lights on phone screen to send basic commands it should be able to be controlled on everything. Bad design and bad coding.
Not worth buying We bought a Yo Bot at the Science Museum. Sadly a complete waste of time. The app downloads ok but we cannot make our phones communicate with the Yo Bot robot, despite using Apple and Samsung devices, and both being IT-savvy. This item shouldn't be marketed/sold.
Clearly what a lot of people don't understand is that after you put your phone(or other device) in the yo!bot you have go on the website and control it from there! The Neville's don't seem that "IT savvy".
Total RUBISH App i have tried to get this working for over a month now and still not working via wifi it will only work in program mode which no one pays this money for DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE BOTS THEY DO NOT WORK AND THE SO CALLED SUPPORT PAGE DOES NOT DO ANYTHING. NOT WORTH THE ONE STAR BUT I CANNOT LEAVE ZERO STARS.
Typical China product Kind of works but zero instructions, except how to install batteries. There's no way to join the yobot to a secure wifi, and phone *must* be in the yobot before it will work so I'm guessing it's pairing with nfc?, then other devices can be used to control the yobot via the paired phone. That would explain why you can't use the remote control function with only one phone. Relying on adobe air is also a big FAIL and laziness in the development. Shortcuts everywhere and it shows.
Developer has been stuffed by Adobe The app uses Adobe Air, and the peer-to-peer comms stuff no longer works. Adobe just aren't bothered. This means that you'll be lucky to make this work. I'm sorry, Mr Pinter75, but you are just going to have to abandon the safety blanket of Adobe Air and write a proper Android app. Then all your whingeing reviews will stop! If only the app worked, this would be a really cool toy - especially as the robot bit is so simple (== easy and cheap to make). One small problem is that it doesn't work with the Moto G, as the screen is so tall that the white spots don't line up with the photodetectors. I'd suggest using vertical white bars, instead of circles.
A bit finnecky After not being able to get this to work for quite a while, I eventually dismantled it to see how it worked and if I was doing something wrong. As it turns out, in the front of the clip, there are 4 holes which open onto photodiodes each triggering one motor, in one direction. This is why it tells you to turn your screen brightness up - when using the app, you will notice white circles appearing at the bottom of the screen: these are the signals for triggering the motor movement. If it's not working for you, it might be worth checking you have the brightness turned up, and making sure the phone is centred within the clip.
Doesn't work on 99.999% of tablets / phones NOTE THAT THIS APP IS ONLY COMPATIBLE WITH DEVICES THAT HAVE AN ARM7 CPU. pointless app.
God dam it! If you have bought one you can only use programme mode:-[ .Why can you even get it for a tablet!
No video ! For some reason there is no video coming through which makes it fairly useless.
Awesome app Works great with my robot
