X-Plane to GPS is a utility that allows you to use your Android tablet or other device as a moving map for X-Plane (X-Plane must be running on a PC, *not* a phone/tablet). The app reads location data broadcast by X-Plane and spoofs the GPS location of the device to match that of the simulated aircraft. X-Plane to GPS is not a moving map itself; it allows you to use Google Earth, Garmin Pilot, Naviator, EasyVFR, or any other application that depends upon the GPS location.

Using X-Plane to GPS is very simple; just follow the steps on the Instructions tab. As of version 1.40, the application can automatically configure X-Plane for you! Setting the Active/Paused button to Active will start a background service to ensure that data stays flowing while the application is in the background (the service is terminated when the button is set to Paused). Once the connection is established you will see a valid position on the Data tab and you can switch to the moving map application of your choice. The app has been developed and tested with X-Plane versions 9 and 10; older versions might not work as the UDP data format has changed over time. For more complete instructions please visit the developer's website and download the manual.

X-Plane to GPS is a product of Appropel and is not related to Laminar Research, Google, Garmin, 123west, or PocketFMS.

Jack Had a few issues getting the location to show on google maps on android 4.4.4, but managed to fix it by: Settings, Location. 'Mode' needs to be set to 'Device only' as opposed to 'high accuracy or 'battery saving'. Other than that the app appears to do its job Oneplus One 4.4.4

Christo Van Niekerk

Brilliant! Never had any issues on all 3 of my devices, always works

John Hunte

Excellent When I had a question, the response was very timely.

Dalen Kruse

Great App! This is a great little app and is very easy to setup, especially under X-Plane 10. This app saved me hundreds of dollars by allowing me to use X-Plane (rather than actual flying) to try out several aviation apps for my Nexus 7.

James Cooper

Works! A very simple app, but done what it says it does and is very good at it!

Joey Sullivan

Best EVAR Of all the X-Plane mapping apps, this is the coolest. Ironically, also the cheapest. I've gotten at least 20 total flying hours using this app, and haven't had a single error, incorrect data, or crash once. Nothing wrong with it at all. Can't think of anything I would like to see improved. Don't know why people are having problems with it on the S3, it worked on my S3 using stock ROM and it is still working using a custom ROM. I use it with OruxMaps. A++ Would Fly Again

Darren Berkey

Doesn't work on Android 4.3 & GS3 It seems that Google or Samsung is blocking the use of mock locations in both Google Maps, and Google Earth on my Galaxy S3, so they won't show the X-Plane data. At the suggestion of the author I tried using this app with Avare moving aviation map, and it works, but Avare is kinda buggy and awkward to use, IMO.

Very Cool This is really cool app and works really well, BUT there is a one problem, it seems that google maps shows heading from gyro/compass not from the game.... So far I haven't been able to find a solution to disable the built in compass. Device: Nexus 7.

Don Pezet

Phenomenal! My firewall killed the auto configuration, but I followed the instructions in the manual to setup the data connection by hand and was up and going in no time. Worked flawlessly with Avare.

Stewart Bridge

Works Like a Charm, but... The instructions on the video are outdated. Newer Android users need to tap "build number" several times under About Device to unlock Mock GPS. Once you are past that hurdle everything else is excellent and works exactly as it says. Super! Developer very fast to respond to questions via email too. 5 star experience.

Trip Mellinger

Works perfectly. Thanks Dev. Used this with IFly GPS. Was up and running in 3 minutes. Finally a great solution to a needed application for Xplane. Woot! Nexus 7

Darren Fiddler

Awesome! Very nice app that worked perfectly. Had plans to test it for 10 minutes and ended up flying for an hour. Loved asking Google all sorts of things with it thinking I was in the US. Even got turn by turn directions to the nearest airport!

Perfect Glad to see there is EasyVFR option added, with version 3.9 it is really working like a charm. Perfect work, thanks.

Kyle Barnes

Excellent App Works well with my 2013 Nexus 7 and Garmin Pilot. I have it hooked up to a SimPro simulator at American Flyers. Works great for Instrument training. Thanks!

David Graham

Great But...... love this application to be able to see other AI or multiplayer planes. On Plan-G for windows their map integrates other aircraft on map. Any chance you guys could include other aircrafts on map.

Steve Danhof

Works perfect! Great app Great app! I use it in combination with an app called Avare and love it. One thing I noticed though (not an issue with the app); if your device has other ways to find your location, they must be turned off or they will fight with the "spoofed" gps signal.

Rich Freeman

Handy utility. Worked fine on first shot on my Nexus 10.

Not working with my note ii Don't know why it doesn't work. I did every thing it required me to do. I followed all the steps, but still not working.

A Google User

Works well. Must admit that the instructions were not very clear for me (X Plane 10). But I did get it working and it works faultlessly. Tried it with Locus Pro on my HTC One X.

David Thomas

Works on Nexus 7 Good application. It does what it says on the tin. Technically, it replaces the GPS location provider with a mock one that is set from data received from X-Plane. You can run whatever GPS-aware program you like then that uses the information from X-Plane. The only problem I have experienced is that after using it, my Nexus 7 won't recognise normal GPS signals. A reboot fixes that, so it's not a big deal really.

Great, works as advertised! This app was very easy to set up, and worked right out of the box. Works with Google Earth, Garmin Pilot, Google Maps. I haven't tried other apps yet. I would love to see a similar app for FSX! It might require a server side application running on the FSX box, but I bet there would be a great market for the FSX version.

Jason Gillman Jr.

Excellent - Great Bang for the Buck I had previously used FalconView as a moving map for X-Plane. I had, however, upgraded to a 64 Bit operating system. As such, I haven't been able to get FalconView to install properly. This app makes utilizing Garmin Pilot as a moving map a breeze. I have not had the issue on my Nexus 7 where the app stops tracking after 40kts. For the cost, I would highly recommend it!

A Google User

Great app Does exactly what it says. Works a treat all pilots should have it!

Rick Sinclair

Not working on Nexus 7 I have installed on a Nexus 7 running Android 4.2.2. I can see the data in the App but nothing on Google Earth. Google Maps seems to work although it takes a while for the icon to appear. Any thoughts?

Tom Bies

Perfect! Fantastic app! Finally I can fly with Garmin Pilot + X-Plane to GPS before I climb into my real cockpit. This app is worth 50x the price he's asking. I had a minor support issue and the author replied within the hour. Can't beat that!

Guthrie Thomas

Did what it said it would. Did what it said it would. Was well worth the money.

Adam Celaya

Not so hot Have been using this app with naviator but it constantly locks up naviator. I am underwhelmed.

A Google User

Works great with XP9/10 minor scroll bug in help section of android app on 4.3" display. Thank you dev! Good luck to Austin his defence against unfair patent wars

A Google User

Very useful Working nicely! Make sure you are connected to the network before you open the program or the IP address it gives you will be incorrect.

A Google User

Great with Garmin Pilot Installed on the Nexus 7 to practice with Garmin Pilot. Using X-Plane 9. It took under 10 minutes to have the systems linked thanks to the instructions in the app. Totally worth the dollar, in hind site, for the simplicity.

A Google User

Not for phonr use This app is to connect x plane to your phones gps. This app is not for the x-plane moblie version. Oh and i didnt get a refund option.

A Google User

Nexus trouble I have the same issue with step 2& settings......????...

A Google User

Did I miss a step? I followed the instructions, opened up x-plane, however I'm not seeing the settings options? (I believe steps 2 and 3)

A Google User

Great stuff Works really well. Extremely responsive developer. Smooth as silk and opens up a whole world of sim/efb fun!

A Google User

Does exactly what it says on the tin Does exactly what it says on the tin - main use has been getting googlemaps to display position, enabling measurement/navigation without needing to interrupt the flight to go to local maps - incidentally seems to work with any other GPS driven aps - eg gps speedo's etc.. Using on an HTC desire - obviously you will get more out of this the bigger the screen of your device..

Mike Stanley

Can't fly without it anymore And I don't need to learn the navigation buttons for each plane. Love having Google maps to go along with xplane

Brian Edlin

Great idea Just tried this out and really liked it. I tied it to my garmin pilot app. At first it was laggy but a restart seemed to correct the issue.

Слава ПолноеИмя

very good app Good App I use it with OSMAnd free maps

Пользователь Google

Awesome! Cool thing, flying on light aircraft is much more comfortable now. Unfortunately, Google Maps doesn't see the X-plane data, so I use one russian app.

Justin Richey

Great! Works perfect with x-plane 10 and the free Avare EFB on my android tablet. If you find you don't have sectionals, plates, etc make sure you download the databases in app and activate georeferencing.

Atni Dyerv

Great work! It just works, no set-up, no lag, no useless feature. Thank you!

Chaughan Garvey

Works with Flt plan go Good job! I just put off buying an Ipad. Well worth the buck and a quarter.

Jan Novak

Perfect Glad to see there is EasyVFR option added, with version 3.9 it is really working like a charm. Perfect work, thanks.
