WiFi Key Recovery (needs root)

** You need root to use this application.
** You need to have connected to the network in the past.
** This app cannot "hack" into an unknown/new network.

I cannot help you with getting root. Have a look at for that.

Have you ever forgotten the password of your home WiFi network, or the one you setup for your parents a few months back?

This application will help you recover the password of a wireless network you have connected to with your device in the past.

You can then either tap on an entry to copy it, or export the list to SD, or share it using the standard Android sharing facilities.

It does not crack the network, or use the MAC/SSID address to deduce the password. It simply reads it from the device itself.

Essentially it parses the wpa_supplicant file.

For more information on how the keys are recovered read here:

Tested by me on:
•HTC Desire Z
•Samsung Galaxy Tab.

According to feedback it also works on:
•HTC Desire HD
•HTC Evo
•LG Optimus 2X
•Motorola Defy
•Samsung Captivate
•Viewsonic gTablet
•Xperia X10 Mini

Email me if does not work on your device and I'll try to fix it.

Doesn't work on s5 Doesn't work on s5. Not really the apps fault. I saw the data file and it appears that way. Still, it needs to be fixed or explained clearly to users that it doesn't support the s5. As such, I have to give it 2 stars...

Sgs5 Don't work on my device when open the app the password doesn't show up it's show me just a lot of numbers and letters i can't understand please fix this

A Google User

5-Star App I wish people knew how to read a description. - It can only retrieve data on stored Wi-Fi information. - You need ROOT-ACCESS to use this app. - It cannot hack into unknown networks. It does exactly what it says if you have the prerequisites and you don't expect more than what is offered. Great job, Dev! If you're still around maybe we can get an Android 4.0+ Holo UI update?

Павел Жук

Does the job! And I like the design:) The type of application that sits there and wait until you need it:))

Ali Mazhar

Great App I use this app once in a while and have had it on all of my Android devices thus far. Simple yet useful. 5 stars for the ability to be able to copy the key directly from the app, useful for sharing with others right away.

robert meier

No Longer Works I used this app for a long time and loved it but now it no longer works. It has not been updated in a long time and appears to be no longer supported. An e-mail to the developer was never responded to. Make it work again and it gets 5 stars.

Frankelly Brito

Broken !!! Galaxy s5 doesnt work on my galaxy s5.. it shows all the passwords in Hexidecimal code and yes im rooted I have Superuser. works on my old s4 though and I have the same update on both 4.4.2

A Google User

Works perfect! Thanks for this great app, works just fine for me! It's just sad to see so many morrons around downvote your app just because they are too stupid to read the description concerning root access & that your tool is made to recover formally KNOWN passwords and not to crack foreign wifi-networks. Keep up the good work!

Andre Hamilton

Saved me from my frustration I for got my wifi password and for some reason i couldn't log into my router to retrieve the info i so needed. This app was a live saver!

Steven Walker

Almost perfect I'd happily pay a buck for a donate version and two bucks if there was an import function so I could do something with the XML files this app exports. Keying them in by hand gets the job done but it's tedious. At least I have them, which is a huge plus with a new phone or tablet.

plue suewin

S4 I9505 doesn't show correct password Been using this since S2 I9100 and it works perfectly fine. But when on S4 I9505 it doesn't show the correct password, just shows random numbers & alphabets. fix plz? thanks

M Baker

Exactly as described Great to view saved passwords easily. Root only as stated in the description, it cannot read the required files unless your device is rooted! Export feature is brilliant to export saved data to SD, dropbox or wherever. Only 141kb and stable so no annoying update notifications.

alex ghergu

Best one I did not rate this app somehow this shitt like to write instead me. Be aware. s working good, you need be one time in that network , the key need to be saved, the app pull out that info for one in case you forgot where you put the network code.

A Google User

What happened? This used to be a fantastic little app, now for some reason the passwords are hidden (defeats the whole point of installing the app), and the copied passwords are wrong. Please put it back the way it was, you know, working properly.

Libor Jenka

Good app, but... Hi, I tested this app on some samsung devices, Note 2 (4.2.2, 4.3) - OK, S4 Active (4.2.2) - OK, but on Note 3 (4.3, 4.4.2) doesn't work corectly, passwords are still coded, looks like coded in hexa... Please make update for Note 3, Thanks!

Matt Graham

Perfect Why the phone makes it so difficult, I don't get. But this app is awesome on getting passwords for wifi from my device

christopher nelson

Note3 major problem Doesn't show the correct password. Just shows random numbers.I hope you guys fix this soon.

Bedford Nieves-Sanchez

Always helps in a pinch! This has saved me so many times any time I've forgotten a wifi password after autosaving it for months. I've even been able to pull passwords that friends have forgotten. This app is the best.

A Google User

Handy tool I couldn't tell you how many times my friends have called me up asking me what their wifi password is.

A Google User

Fantastic Works perfectly on my Xperia Play and my Nexus 7 tablet. Very useful as is, but it would get 5 stars if you add an import option.

Benjamin Kraus

Works the way it should This app shows all my WiFi passwords on a Note 3 running Lollipop and root. It works perfectly, thank you very much :)

James Tyrrell

password shows as hex I have used this on the sgs2 and it worked great! but now on sgs4 it shows the password as hex, is there a fix? if this is fixed ill give 5 stars!

Nirmala Nepal

Great My neighbour entered his password in my device but didnt told but now i can and also use this on my husband and sons device

Voytek Eymont

Great utility, very useful. Useful, well designed, with everything that's needed: export, search, even outputs a QR code. Thanks for useful tools, also, thanks for Palm apps in the past.

Dan Matheson

Was working, now is not Was working on earlier android versions but now it lists associate networks fine but gives an encrypted version of the password.

shishir sharma

Doesn't work I downloaded to check if it can do or not....and I checked my wifi password on my rooted note 3 but it shows random alphanumeric character instead............developer if I need to do something else plz get back to me.....

Chris Parler

No key passphrase No key passphrase. I want the convenience that used to be present where I didn't have to type out a mile long string of characters.

Pambos Nikolaou

good BUT.. anyone knows how to reload back to the app the keys that i have export after phone wipe? The file is on my card but, there is no option for import, only export...

Faiz Rahman

Works. As Simple as that. What else do you need to know, it just finds the Wi-Fi password and displays it :P

Darko Molnar

Just great! This is ONLY app working on LG P710. Thanks fo recovering passwords from my old phone

Michael Willers

Works flawlessly! Our IT guy at work refuses to give out the WiFi password and inputs it into staff phone's on some sort of imaginary merit system, now everyone has access and he is at a complete loss as to the cause;).

Steve Giles

Really useful app This little gem has helped me out on numerous occasions, worth rooting your phone for! The only change I'd ask for is to be able to add a note to the WiFi as I forget which SSID is which!

A Google User

galaxy s epic 4g Works great! Same app on the market but offered here free with no ads!

A Google User

Perfect Do you know when you had connected to so many wifi hot spots that you losed track of all the passwords? Well this app it's just for that

Bradley Sawler

SSPC advertised Great for those places that want to put in the password and you have to keep asking for other devices.

Halo Nest

Works as described Helped to recall p/w to home wifi net for new device. Othervise would have to spend some time to change p/w. Also app could be usefull for some public places, when you have p/w in your device but don't remember it to share with friends...

Madison Dickson

Works as advertised, no frills Add free, no extra permissions, everything you need. Go XDA!

Maarten Edgar

Does exactly what it says on the tin! Perfect little app! Thanks for this; it's one of those apps which you just need in your phone's toolbox. And it doesn't need unnecessary permissions! Thanks for your work!

Austin Turner

Simply amazing! This app does everything it says, it works on my LG Optimus Elite through Virgin Mobile

Farrukh Shehzad

nice software hi Alexandros Schillings this software is nice but it does not crack all the router ? why did u tell me why?

Peyman Es

on samsung note 3 the passwords are shown as HEX codes i guess , please fix it or make a way to convert the codes to something readable.

Paras Chowhan

Does what it says Great app. Read the description, it is not for hacking into someone else's wireless network, it is for recovering your wifi password if you have forgotten it. Needs root access to work

Sammy Boy

Does what it says.... Works fine on my LG G3 running Android 4.4, which is more than I can say about most of my old apps from 4.2!

madness guy

Dont work Don't work on my device note 4 when open the app the password doesn't show up it's show me just a lot of numbers and letters i can't understand please fix this

Tyler Phoenix

A must have This app is a must have if you forget your WiFi password or need the password again to connect on another device. I always used to hate when me friends would give me the password by signing into my phone directly, then leave without telling me the password. This makes it easy so you can avoid that awkward conversation to ask for the password again

Larry Oxendine

For all you idiots The app requires root....if you arent rooted this app will not work....that being said. Installed and did exactly what it was supposed to do. Have a list of all my WIFI Connections and the passwords to them. Open and Presto.

Devyanee Mehta

Awesome. This app is great. It actually works unlike most of the other ones!! The beat part is, my tablet was factory reset to original settings (so I had none of my stuff on it) and I was playing around and testing to see if it would actually work, then NINE networks (I repeat, NINE networks) show up, one of my own and 8 others which WERE saved on my tablet before factory reset. I'm still wondering how this app can even do that. But I don't care, its amazing!

ammilio reyse

Fantastic This app is good but u guys understand it wrong , its just show u the password of the wifi that conected on it in case that u forget the password, I forget my password in my laptop then I search it on this app and found it thats really easy. I gave it 5 stars it deserve

roberto jr tulio

I give 5 star for my galaxy s5 it work How to fix wifi recovery password on your galaxy s5. First step. Install buildpropeditor. Open it then find ro.securestorage.true =false then restart your phone. congrats your wifi recovery password is work.

Mark Watkins

Easy and works One tap and you get all the passwords in plain text. It needs root and its only going to tell you passwords already entered in your phone. S5, Lollipop.

Jyotiraditya Shinde

Not working in (Root) allso My lenovo s660 4.4 is fully rooted device but when I click on app WiFi key recovery is not working . it's a fack app

Victoria Henry

Works Worked perfectly on a Galaxy S4 Mini. Can now email Mum the password for her network instead of trying to talk her through finding it. Thanks!

Syamsoul Anuar

Doesnt work anymore Doesnt work anymore on latest Lollipop update of Samsung Galaxy Note 3. However, it works great before. Hopefully will be updated

Kevin Cooper

Works great, needs features It works (android M, nexus 6)! I just wish it hid the passwords by default (long click to reveal individual ones, or something) and enabled exporting with encryption.

Humam Slayer

Useless In old versions + on my old device this application was working fine , now when i try to get the password , it shows me a number of letters and numbers , my password is ( 6fg2ma13 ) but the app show me this : b0750e80e18760e303171da2bf5f7276 , uninstalling...

on samsung note 3 the passwords are shown as HEX codes i guess , please fix it or make a way to convert the codes to something readable.

Igor Loborec

Works Works nicely on HTC One M7. Would be nice if the passwords to every network weren't immediately visible (so you can open up the app to show someone a password for a café network or similar without having to worry they'll see your home network password). I was impressed to see even enterprise authentication information is shown - good job!

james sandoval

Great for Galaxy S5! FIX INCORRECT PASS PROBLEM Work great now on my Galaxy S5! For those who are experiencing random numbers(hash) as password follow this guide to fix it. Open your build.prop and change the line to false and restart your phone. Enjoy! Please vote this comment up to show for everyone ?

Jo Veteran

No import function? Are you kidding me? Changed my phone and can't seem to be able to import all the saved networks from export. Is that correct? If indeed there is no import function somehow then this app is severely limited. This review will change if there actually exists some kind of import function and I just can't find it.

Fritz Pinguin

Ok on Tab 7.7, not working on Samsung S5 As mentioned by others, it does not work on the S4, S4 was still ok, and my Galaxy Tab 7.7 shows the correct passwords, too. By the way, it shows a wrong/cryptic device name on the S5 (kltexx klte). The timestamp seems to be correct.

Gian Carlo Canceran

Brilliant app!!! When my untie doesn't want to tell me there WiFi password, and she typed it on my smart phone...then I search for an app to reveal the written password and then I found this app and it really works..! Keep up the good work guys...

Damon Lightfoot

Not working My phone is rooted, all other apps requiring root are working.... except this one. Keeps saying I need to root. Tried to uninstall and reinstall. Used to work fine, not sure what you did to make it worse.

Felix Cheng

WYSIWYG As tittle. It does what it said. Some idiots leave some bad review or low rating because they doesn't have ROOT access. PS. Can we have holo or material design update?

Jann Bernlöhr

Does its job fine All the people who do not understand what root is and then comment "uuh mommy I need to compensate!": Please go to apple. It is so much easier.

Dominick Totaro

Hands down, thumbs up. This app does exactly as it's supposed to. It doesn't install anything like ads or whatever other reviewers have spewed. This app has come in handy countless times for me. This is an easy 5 stars.

A Google User

Worked Great on Nexus 7, Prevented Headache At my workplace there is a WiFi router but the person who installed it forgot to write down the key(and contacting the person would have taken awhile). However I was able to use the WPS button to connect my Nexus 7 and then use this app to extract the actual key. Now I can share the key with whoever in the office needs it without fiddling with the annoying WPS button anymore(Should get it disabled too). This app worked as described and did it painlessly!

Andy Stumph

Wtf Used to it doesn't. No other app like it that I know of. Wtf Dev can we get an update

A Google User

The best Hey man, really thank you. You made my day less sucky after my laptop broke.!

Tim Petrowitsch

great app being in IT i come across clients always forgetting their wifi passwords. when i pull out my phone to read it off to them they always look at me like "wow he keeps a list of everyones wifi on his phone" nope i just connected to your wifi 5 years ago and can easily pull that info back up. great app guys i use this all the time.

Brend Kapp

Does not work on S5 On my S5 it gives a 32 character psk. If sorted, 5 stars. It worked perfectly on my Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and S2. UPDATE: It would seem the developer is not interested to sort the problem out.Downgrading to 1 star until he can sort out the problem.

David Violas

Perfect. Exactly what I wanted. Less than a second it showed all my saved passwords for all my wifi connections. Couldnt remember my dads and he wanted to set his new tablet up so it wouldnt use his mobile data at home.

Iván Núñez

Doesn't work on Galaxy Note 3 I'll give it 3 stars though, because it worked before when I had Galaxy S 3. Returns encrypted password: " ed3c4b2ca6816406f48862b49b8bfa69", for example.

Cheuk Wa Wong

You must have this Very good way to recover the password. Too bad that the phone must rooted before use. (Doesnt matter, i rooted already)

David Jackson

No longer working Used to work great, but now it just prints gibberish because the encryption of the supplicants file is different in later versions of Android. Wake up, Dev! Your coffee is getting cold. ;-)

A Google User

Works as advertised! GNex running ICS 4.0.4 Gummy, recovered all keys, even some that I didn't realize Google was storing with my account from my last Android phone.

Winston Webb

Used to work. This app used to work like a charm. Now all I get is a black screen. Uninstalled.

Ron Smith

It was awesome for the time I used it This program helps you recover your WiFi access keys so you can have them in case of factory reset or even if you need to recover say for a new device to keep on hand as needed. Worked great two years ago when I used it. Always I will recommend to all my people who need this kind of ease of use. Thanks for reading and lots of love to the app and dev team

Eduardo Conde

I used to love it But it now needs a menu button so we can export the text file. Now that the new versions of Android got away with the menu on navigation we need some sort of button to be able to to export

Psu Choki

No problems! Does just what the description says, fast and useful! Perfect when you wanna connect a second device somewhere and you're way too shy to ask for the pass again .___. (like me)

Yalcin Tokel

Wow! It works and it is free! Very nice work . Simple and effective crive. . Saved me from resetting my wireless router because i forgot my password. Thanks for your effort
