Download WiFi Barcode Scanner apk 1.2.4 free for Android smartphone
Apk file size: 98.0 KB
Turn your phone into a wireless barcode scanner!
Literally any OS is supported: Windows, Mac and Linux.
Scanned barcodes will be sent to your computer using the common VNC protocol.
Download and install any VNC server on your computer. For example: UltraVNC, RealVNC or TightVNC.
You just need to install the server part (silent server) and register as a system service.
Set your VNC Password.
If you are running VNC only to serve WiFi Barcode Scanner you might want to disable "Remove Aero (Vista)", "Remove Wallpapers for Windows" and enable "Capture Alpha-Blending" to prevent blinking of screen when connecting to the server.
Open a terminal and enter the following command: gsettings set org.gnome.Vino require-encryption false
For other Linux:
Install and configure your prefered VNC server like x11vnc or tightvncserver.
For Mac OS X:
Open a terminal and enter the following command before enabling screen sharing: sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.RemoteManagement VNCAlwaysStartOnConsole -bool true
Open "System preferences" - "Sharing".
Check pane "Screen sharing".
Click "Computer Settings..." and set your password.
On your phone:
Set your vnc server host and port using settings menu.
If you choose to automatically connect just press "Start scanning" button. Otherwise first press "Connect" button to connect to your vnc server.
Every scanned barcode will be sent to your vnc server immediately.
- Make sure VNC is installed correctly and no firewall is blocking connection requests on port 5900. If you used the installer there should be already a Windows firewall rule.
- Check if VNC can be reached by your phone. PC and phone must be on the same network. Otherwise you have to add port forwarding rules to your router.
- Make sure you did not enable "Disable Viewers inputs" in your VNC servcer configuration.
- If you still have any problems do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected]
How to check ip addresses:
- PC: hover the mouse over VNC tray icon and your PC ip address will be shown in a tooltip.
- Phone: Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Wi-Fi Settings -> your connection will be listed under Wi-Fi networks
You can enable offline mode to scan barcodes to a database and send them later.
Just don't connect to the vnc server and start scanning.
Later you can send the scanned barcodes using the History menu option.
Using special keys for prepend/append string:
You can use a html-like encoding to send special keys. Use 'ꯍ' where abcd is a hex string representing a special key. For all available keys please see X11/keysymdef.h or contact [email protected]
To add a profile from QR-Code scan "wifibarcodescanner:[email protected]:PORT/PROFILENAME". Every part except host can be ommited (eg. wifibarcodescanner://192.168.0.10).
You can add widgets to your home screen to load profiles. If "Automatic Connect" is enabled scanning will start automatically when the widget is selected.
WiFi Barcode Scanner can be used as a Locale-plugin for apps like Locale, Tasker, Llama and many more.
For scanning barcodes the free ZXing Barcode Scanner App is needed. If not already installed you will be redirected to download on first usage.
v1.1.1: Handling of wifibarcodescanner:// improved.
v1.1.2: Widget to load profile.
v1.2.1: Offline mode.
v1.2.2: Remove leading and trailing characters.
v1.2.4: Usage as plugin for Locale, Tasker, Llama etc.

Perfect! This was one of the few apps I found that properly transmitted barcodes to my Linux server. UPDATE: Emailed for a solution to prepending key presses such as CTRL-A and received VERY fast, courteous, and VERY INFORMATIVE support. I HIGHLY recommend this app for WiFi scanning. It simply uses VNC (great for us Linux users!!), and the support is outstanding! Thanks so much devs!!
Nice Had a few issue while setting up but it works! Only thing is: How to set it to press enter after scan newline doesnt work
Great program, amazing support! Does exactly what is advertised and more. With the recent revisions we are able to scan VIN numbers on vehicles and send it to our software. Other reviews that state 5 minutes for support responses are not exaggerated. Awesome fast support.
Awesome. Googles breaks it! Work's great. Make sure google goggles isnt your only scanner app on phone. You wont be able to scan with it.
Good keeps getting better Works as described. Vnc setup is straightforward if you have ever used that service.
Just what I was looking for! This is a fantastic bit of software, because it relies on the 3rd Party scanner, it supports whatever Barcode formats are supported by Barcode Scanner. Because it utilises an existing VNC server there is no complicated software to install and it works fast. I was looking to scan QR codes rather than 1D barcodes and this let's me do that just fine. It would be nice to have the ability to request that the computer beeps after receiving the barcode, which is part of the VNC spec so should be trivial to implement. 5 stars!
Note 2 My note 2 not running this app, who can help?
Just what I was looking for Great app once you get the VNC to work. No extra fat on this app. Scans and sends the info to wherever my cursor is placed.
Perfect Does exactly what it says without any problems. Tested on windows 8
Excellent work Does exactly what I want. thank you :)
Great idea Stops reading after a few scans. Hope update fixes this
Awesome Good, cheap and usefull thanks a lot
Just what I needed!
This is the best one I tried many other apps before this one, and I can surely tell you that this one beats them all. It works on ALL operating systems + its really fast + the support from developer is extremely good. I reported about a small glitch yesterday and the developer replied to me within 5 minutes + he released the fixed version within 24-hrs. The price of this app is also very reasonable. I'd give it a million stars if I could. Extremely happy with my purchase!
Great app App is just great saves on us having to buy a scanner
great app work on win and ubuntu
Perfect I hardly write any review but this app does exactly what it describes and works perfectly. Also really reasonable price. 5*
Calvin Smit Very happy with the product on a galaxy p1000 and on my samsung gui.Galaxy camera is better for scanning than my GT-S5660.It is a very practical usable app. With surprisingly quick support. I had a connection problem due to my oversight.
Fantastic!! I already had vnc installed, so it was a breeze to scan a barcode straight to my desktop PC. Just what I was looking for. Thank you!!
Smart design Truly the simplest setup for an experienced VNC user
Good scanner Scans well. Had a small issue with encryption on the SVN server but got immediate support via email with the publisher.
Really cool concept
Works great! Great support! Easy to use
No stand alone function Must connect to a wifi host to function. - needs to be able to function alone
Works great Using it to scan serial numbers into an old dos program running in XP mode. Tried the Bluetooth Barcode Scanner on the market, and it works fine in dos, fine in xp mode, but wouldn't work in the program. This one seems to be working great. I did notice a little lag on the first scan after connecting, but that could be that I was in a hurry to test before the 15 minute refund deadline.
requested refund It wouldn't send the bar code to my Mac OS X Lion. I'm not interesting in installing ANOTHER vnc server when there is one built in. Otherwise I was VERY much looking forward to a product like this.
Fantastic Does exactly as described
Awesome app What a great program,so easy to use,an exceptional application, does what others do for much more money! Well done to the programers! My 50c.
Good But i have a problem. Please add the function of using free ASCII code for preffix and suffix barcode.
Stupid and worthless This app simply sucks! Not worth anybody's time. You need a PhD in computer science to make this crap work.
Works great Make sure your firewall has VNC port opened on the computer. Used x11vnc on Debian GNU/Linux. Latency of about one second. See options, there's setting for sending a tab or Enter key after scanning which can speed things up.
