30Mb and worthless Utter rubbish! Don't waste your time or data downloading. Flat, boring, uninspiring. All the things this app could be and even the map is of no use. No way will I pay to "unlock" more of this.
A great resource of information.
Worthwhile companion! A worthwhile companion for any adult or child interested in ancient history, especially Egypt..
Great new version The new version has fixed many of the small improvements that was needed for the app and it is looking really awesome
I found this app to be very poor. It was not easy to locate the objects described by using the app. Although I bought the full version, many halls had no information about the location of the featured objects. Having wasted around 15 minutes in Hall 1 trying to make sense of the app, I simply gave up. Recently I visited the RIjksmuseum in Amsterdam with my brother and we used their app to take a two hour audio/visual tour of their main exhibits. It was superb. Learn from this, please!
Not what I expected at all I was hoping for a audio tour guide that tells me the details and history of each item as I move around. I am sure that explanation text is provided for each item exhibited in the museum I do not need an app for that. Giving me the 20 or 100 best items in a museum is hardly an app. Disappointing. Just found Rick Steves audio tour for the museum and it is exactly what I wanted.
I love the concept This reminds me of good memories visiting the British museum. It is a spectacular place. However in the app the images are disappointly small. It would be amazing if it were immersive and had bigger images like the Sites in 3d app. I would be happy to pay for a true virtual museum tour.
Absolutely Brilliant. Really informative app, loads of illustrations etc. Well worth the price.
OK - Just There are a lot of artifacts missing from this app. Considering they update it every day, sometimes twice a day it should have more. I have the paid version. The updates are apparently aimed at the unpaid version.
Cool I am british and this is is true
Great Used this app when visiting the museum and it really helped. Brilliant stuff! We do seem to get an update every day though and I wish there was some information of what the updates contained!
Can't see all the text on S3. The content looks excellent. But I can't read a lot of the text because it's off to the right of the screen. Can't zoom, turn to landscape or slide over. Using a Galaxy S3.
Paid-for app The most annoying thing about this app is that it isn't a "Lite" version with an "option to upgrade" - it's a time-limited trial version that stops working after a few minutes use, unless you pay £2.99. Why not just be honest and up-front about what you're offering? As for the app itself, it's not bad and is a useful companion when visiting the museum. "Fantastic virtual experience" is perhaps over-egging it, as there are just static pictures and text linked to places indicated on the floor maps. It is quite nice for planning your visit and navigating around the (large) museum, though. Aesthetically the app seems to have been designed for iPhones, and is fairly ugly on larger-screen Android phones/phablets - the text doesn't resize or reflow and is massive on a Note, and it has its own rather idiosyncratic interface rather than follow normal Android design principles. Update: The developer has now changed the item description to remove the "Lite" reference and accurately reflect the trial nature of the app and the paid-for upgrade, so thanks for that. I've updated my rating for the app accordingly.
Thank you Very helpful. Have a look to learn the application before visiting the museum
Very interesting and fun.
Great app needing slight improvements When going through objects in a room, you can't go back and forth between the objects, because it only let's you see each object once. And easier interface would be nice, especially improved functioning of the floor plan
Informative and Interesting Easy to use and informative. There's a lot of information in this app about the incomparable collection housed at the British Museum in London. Would give five stars if the images of the artifacts were a little better for those of us not lucky enough to be in the museum itself.
Genuinely awesome Apart from the offputting title Vusiem, this is one of the very few apps that I find perfect. Works beautifully and is superbly designed to enhance the BM experience.
Vusiem Great app wish I'd knew about it before I went to the museum.
one of a kind
Great app Thank you so much for the quick fix for S3!!! :) Now everything works prefectly. This super handy app has all necessary info so you no longer need to carry all the heavy guide books or loan the audio guides when tour around the museum. Highly recommended for all who planning a visit to British Museum! Great application, excellent team. Thank you!
Excellent app for getting the most out of your visit This app is truly brilliant, combining a useful map with detailed information on many objects (often more detailed then the physical signs accompanying the exhibits). A few small issues like the fact that the app doesn't auto rotate based on screen orientation. Also, it would be nice if related Wikipedia articles were available from within the app to flesh out the context of the objects. All in all this app is definitely worth downloading before a visit to the British Museum
Great app for Museum Navigation For people who are entirely new to the museum this handy app would be of great use. Provides full floor plan overview of the structure including short description of each artifact available.
Ease of use I love this museum but its sheer size means finding where specific artefacts are housed difficult despite the ever helpful attendants. This app goes a long way to solving this with clear mapping, inclusion of other important items in various areas and clear, concise information on featured artefacts. Five stars if the search engine can be extended generically, so an interest in, say Medieval coins or the politically sensitive Elgin marbles can be located.
Go to the museum instead Boring app with crappy Egyptian artifacts pretty lame. No interesting stuff like alien artifacts or weird animals. Oh wait stuff like that is hidden from us.
Misleading - not free Even though it says "free," when you install it, it says it is a trial version before purchase
Awesome As a member of the museum this is perfect, but would be equally great for any visitor.
Doesnt work Sadly this app doesnt seem to work on my sony Xperia S the app opens but after the loading screen it just closes itself.
OK There's nothing wrong with this app in terms of the interface and how it works. However, one would probably do better to rent the media player from the desk in the main entrance hall. It is better laid out and most of the content is in audio form. It is better to hear someone read about an object while you are looking at it.
José A. "020415...thanks..."
Just bad Layout was rough but almost tolerable, the thing I couldn't deal with was that 90% of the exhibits descriptions were grayed out unless you buy the unlocked version.
Remove Dnt install wast data & time
Not for me. The free version was NOT helpful.
Minimalist tour of a great museum. The only app available of a great treasure trove of artifacts. Archeologists now use 3D photos to fully display objects. Some of the photos are in HD but not nearly enough. Clearly this app was designed as a walk around guide to navigating the museum. I was hoping for an app that offered a true virtual tour. As it is, the price is a bit steep.
Nothing for free It prompts for payment at the very beginning. No additional information other than what is already there alongside exhibits.
Loved it! Very useful guide for the museum.. the descriptions were thoughtful and entertaining..
At the British Museum Don't wast your time unless you purslane the full version.
Ok Some pictures and a map. But for anything useful it sends you to the website.
Great app This app is so good I upgraded without hesitation. I love the BM and this app offers extra info you won't get from just visiting. When you do visit take this app to improve the experience. So useful. I highly recommend it. Thanks dev!
Am quite disappointed Was happy to pay for an app that would give me more info on the museum. However, I found it very confusing and difficult to use. When the museum is busy, which is most of time, there isn't the space to go wandering around trying to find an object that you have no clue to its location in the numbered room. Having the case number on the item picture would make the app actually useable and worth the money. As it was, I spent an hour trying to locate all the items in the trail then left in frustration!
Everything useful has to be purchased Pointless to provide a free app that only asks you to buy.
