VicTraffic is the official traffic Android app from VicRoads.
The app features a smart map-based interface that reveals more data as you zoom in further.
• Road Closures
• Traffic Alerts
• Tow Allocations
• Travel Times
• Live Traffic Cameras
• Locality Search
• Zoom to your location (location services)
• Customisable settings for different data types
• Region and Municipality filters
The app stays up to date by automatically downloading new content when it is available.
Road Closures and Traffic Alerts are generally uploaded to the application during peak traffic periods of Monday to Friday, 6.45am to 6.45pm and after hours during significant emergency events.
Details include location, impacts and any special instructions such as detours.
Pre-planned interruptions such as Roadwork’s and Events are available up to 48hours in advance.
Travel times are provided via Google Maps for the wider metropolitan area and major Melbourne freeways are listed with segment breakdowns.
Live traffic camera images are available from strategic locations around Melbourne to provide you with a live image of exactly how traffic is looking there and then.
VicRoads part of our Transportation and have average installs from 100000 to 500000. Last Update Aug. 12, 2014. Google play rating is 73.0858. Current verison is 1.0.3. Actual size 1.0 MB.
Needs improvement. Doesn't show every incident and it also shows old ones
Needs to tested for 4.1 Jelly bean Android OS Updates to show traffic jams at Strategic Camera locations
Data Huge data user... Turned on for 5 min to look at traffic out of the City and it used 31MB
Great! Finally it's on android! My only complaint would be that I don't like to wait for the map to load because I'm mainly interested in the freeway travel times. But overall it is great.
Missing information Traveling from Cann River to Bairnsdale there were many more road works than the app showed.
Not bad. The better i can plan my trips from the eastern suburbs to the city or western suburbs the better! Cheers.
Not bad Fair but needs more work
GPS not working.
Like it bcz its life saver
VicTraffic Great app from VicRoads (and it's free!). Has all the info you need before traveling.
The truth. The staff at VicRoads all deserve a raise. My opinion as a normal average person.
Really easy and great Very helpful
Good app from vicroads Handy for working out which roads to avoid going to and from work. Find out freeway Travel times before its too late!
A high quality app from VicRoads! So handy! Fwy Travel Times and Traffic Maps are a great asset.
Great app Who would think that a government agency could make a useful app.
Photos are blurry It's a good idea let down by blurry pictures. It would of been heaps better having live video feed. Substandard to what other countries have, but that's typical of Australia.
Awesome app!!! Very easy to navigate and get around within the app combined with up to date information where ever I am alows me to get where ever I need to go quickly without running into any issues on the road Loved the traffic cameras as an added bonus
Traffic reports and more Looking good! A live trial will be interesting, a five * if A okay...
Landscape view? App lacks landscape view, which, when 100% of devices and apps can rotate, is a bit of a wtf. At any rate, it's rendered useless on my horizontally mounted tablet in the car... Where it's most likely to be used!
Right on Excellent guide to judge how long your trip will take. No more excuses for getting to work late now.
Vic roads traffic Would be nice if it was updated regularly. At 01.15 friday the latest update was 05.00 thursday!! Sort it and you may get 5 stars.
Does what it says on the tin A wealth of data about traffic flows, delays, roadworks and incidents. Lovely.
Excellent. ... Wendy was stuck in traffic on Dorset road Boronia and called me. The app showed a tow truck at the arboretum so I directed her to go left using the apps map, and around the hold up. A very happy driver :-)
VERY GOOD Does what it says it does. Clean and easy to use. And has live camera feeds. Now just start fixing our roads!
Usefull Crashed when trying to look at cameras, difficult to zoom in.. intent is good, little ways to go yet.
Looks good, works well Would be nice to be able to add favorites so I don't have to scroll through the whole list every time, cameras and travel times
Mobile site was better I wish they had not shut down their mobile site, as the layout was far better - you could see travel times for all the major arterials at a glance, no scrolling needed. There was more info as well, as the travel times for the major roads were also listed.
Glitchy. Keeps on freezing after a min use on my Galaxy S3.
Great, thanks dean zavrovack!
It's not hard Here's an idea vicroads how about you send out a proper alert when the domain tunnel is closed.
Good app Easy to use. Does what they claim. Brilliant
Easy to use, quick visual of current conditions :-)
Ok but It's ok but the gps function doesn't work for me at all. All other apps that use gps works fine just not this
Great Awesome app, does what it's meant to. Only gripe is lack of option to chose default view on start up (always open in travel time view instead of map)
My German visitors were not able to install this app because it has country restrictions on it. IE 'this app is not available in your country'. They are about to drive through Victoria, including near some of the areas where there are road closures due to the fires.
Regular user Can a function for a favourite geographical location at a tab if a single button be added so I don't have to zoom in or search suburbs? Otherwise great app to plan everyday work trips.
Keeps crashing Crashes shortly after being run. Nexus 6P, Android 6.0.1.
Keeps crashing App stops responding as soon as I open it and closes.
Very slow Moving around the map is very slow. The website is much faster and smoother therefore easier to use. I'll stick to using the website
Yeah boy I can see stuff n that
Great for commuting!
Continues to crash every time I open it, hopeless, uninstalling.
Out dated It is now March 2016... the app is showing alerts on the Yarram-Morwell Road from 2014!
Opens and then crashes As the title, crashes as soon as it tries to show the map. Nexus 5x
Doesn't work The app keeps crashing on my Nexus 6P. Uninstalled it.
Shows road closures weeks old Shows far too many old road closures. Is almost useless as is.
Victoria doesn't mean Regeonal A Major intersection in Shepparton has been closed for 3 months & still closed, Benalla Rd & Doyels Rd. Does not show up on this App.as road works.
It's OK not what I was expecting
Very handy to assess traffic conditions. HOWEVER two major issues - it regularly crashes my phone , resulting in the need to physically pull out my battery to reboot my phone. This is the apps fault - this is not a phone issue. Secondly, why upon opening do we have to see the entire State - why can't it default to a screen only encompassing Melbourne Metro area. After all that is where the traffic is!
Samsung s3 zooming problem I can't zoom in map to see traffic conditions. ..it was working fine few days back. But now it sucks
Very good Bloody awesome app. I use the freeways and west gate and bolte bridges almost daily so it's very handy to be able to observe live traffic.
Vicroads Updating only every 24 hours..you've got to be joking ?
Handy but needs updating Useful app but still shows road closures from 3 months ago when the road is now open
Location not available error unless I also use WiFi
Handy for ses as well
