Please go back to black theme! I use my phone as an mp3 player while driving, and the white theme is awful when it's night. Even on my lowest brightness it's glaringly bright, and dangerous. Also the blue/gray button colors are very difficult to discern. This is my absolute favorite music app and I want to keep using it!
More reliable now Its nice and light, and less buggy! The sound is great, and it supports playlists and other files! There is some lack of customisation, but I don't mind.
+1 to the request to have an equalizer. Equalizer with 5 bands is enough to me. The one with 10 bands will make more users happy, I guess.
Dark theme please! Material design is good but whitish backgrounds are a sore to my eyes
Great, but dark theme needed!. Other than that, I really like the cleanliness and simplicity of the interface.
Nice and light. No frills and behaves well. Pleasingly customisable. Only quirks: 1 - Isn't registered as a music activity in Android. You have to add a direct link to the app in Car Home instead of Car Home just figuring out you want the Music button to launch Vanilla. 2 - It'd be nice to have an option to view album art thumbnails in the Library Screen.
Easy, powerful, respectful I love that it can play all of my preferred formats (including ogg & flac gapless). The user interface is simple and clean. Best of all for me is that it doesn't nose into permissions it doesn't need, like my location or Internet access. My music files are all stored on the device, yet other music players require full network permissions and to be able to track my location. Thank you for respecting my privacy!
Simple but great Open Source music player Please add more feature, maybe add EQ for a better experience.
Amazing player! Opened a ticket on Github, "Enqueue if playing; Play if paused" is broken in 0.9.42. Otherwise, it's an amazing player! Will update my review once this problem is fixed.
It plays music This app is wonderful. It plays music. All formats, all music. The UI is very nice while still putting functionality before appearance. It doesn't have an EQ or video support because it is a music player. Please keep it that way!
Fantastic and Simple Plays all my file types. I love the simple design and interface. Very good options and settings, things like 'External output only' are awesome. I've easily settled on this as my player of choice.
Material ui. My favorite player. It would be nice to have some material design. ❤
Nice. Very impressed with the interface. It used to allow me to update the library for newly added music, but that's gone now :-(
Love this-Offline!! I don't need trackers and such....definitely don't need my music player to be online!
Great alternative to stock android app. Works great, plays all file formats I throw at it (FLAC, MP3, ogg, ect.) and stores playlists by their file path so I don't have to remake my playlists when I delete my music folders and add new songs. The only thing I wish it did is display any pictures found in the song folder as album art. 5/5
Simple music player Nothing flashy, it plays music and does it well. Unlike the other ones in the play store, this does not come with a bunch of bloat you don't need and it supports FLAC.
Cannot be associated with file extensions, and most Library click actions do not work and result in Expand for folders. Also a bit bugged sometimes - Clear queue for example. Cannot remove songs from queue too. But can play folders ;)
Great This is a very nice music player, I'd go as far as to say the best one I've used. Simple, fast and stable. There seems to be a tiny problem with it on Cyanogenmod 11 though, as it keeps crashing DSP Manager, the builtin equaliser, on song change every once in a while, then after some time on every new song until device restart. Dunno if that's a bug in DSP Manager or Vanilla music, but it hasn't happened with any other music player.
IMPROVE !!! Make QUEUE, NOW PLAY also tabs !!!! Otherwise is not intuitive and first after couple of minutes and frustration have found out how it works now I am amazed and there is literaly nothing beter out there !!!! was confused from press file to select nothing happened I just could not select more files to move them to desired playlist :/ than I found out that after hitting they go to queue and that I can convert to playlist and edit ...but still multiple select would be awesome if it would work plus the top notice to make also tabs or start as default to play now ;)
I LOVE THIS♡ The MUSIC IS GREAT, SOUNDS FANTASIC, THE APP IS THE " VERY BEST"! Do you have a App to DOWNLOAD MUSIC TOO?
How do I put covers on the albums I really love this app it plays music very well but I'm not quite sure how to put a cover on so please if anyone knows please tell me
Player of choice I'm using it ever since I had the Samsung Galaxy 550. It's friendly with older Android systems and it has some great features, starting by the automatic playlist creation when you tap a folder, the preamp gain which is very useful if you have a low output gain on your headphones, and the random playback mode which doesn't merely switch between tracks completely at random, but also lets you go back to the songs you were playing earlier.
Vanilla What's this for? Somebody needs to call me directly or I ain't doin nothing.
What more do you need? Simple and clean. Supports ReplayGain and FLAC. Works with Simple Last.fm. What more do you need? Best Android player I've tried so far... Fonts could be a bit bigger / user resizable.
Perfect free music player. Vanilla music is great for playing live music from etree without conversion. Handles unconverted FLAC no problem!
This is the best and simplest player. Idk why this isn't promoted more it beats every other music player I've tried. Keep it up.
Variety, whole songs, and doesn't crash!
Couldn't search new songs I liked music player better cause at least then I could get new songs
S4 Plays well
Its nice compared to Music Player There need to be a way to set up a playlist. Also, a way to remove a song from the playing Queue, without permanently deleting it from your music file.Galaxy Tab 2
Pretty good Keeps closing but pretty good
galaxy s2 Great! switched from deadbeef player
Close to great I had to knock off a star because as good as this app is, it badly badly badly needs a library refresh option. It is a royal pain when I add music to my phone, have to fix the tags on the tracks, and the old track names remain in the library until I restart my phone. There has to be some way to fix that. When it happens, you'll get your 5th star from me.
FOSS and Clean I like the interface and the clearness of this app. Keep up!
Awesome app. Vanilla has never given me any troubles. Clean, easy to use, will always be my go-to music player.
Great I really like the cleanliness and simplicity of the interface.
Thank you for letting us go back to the black theme!
It needs to get internet radios Wonderful and opensource player: is there a way to get internet streaming, as for internet radios?
Simple and great Opensource music player Please add more feature, maybe add EQ for a better experience.
The music player I always wanted. Google's music player has lots of strange behaviors when it's offline, so I was looking for something that could handle music stored on my phone. This free, opensource app has almost every feature I could want! My favorite features (hidden in settings): - Start playing when launched (great for when you're in the car) - Playlists - Only play through headphone (can't mistakenly play over external speaker) Still missing a few features I'd like, but since it's open source, I can add them myself!
Love this-Offline!! Just wish you could fast foward via Bluetooth... I don't need trackers and such....definitely don't need my music player to be online! Thanks for bringing back the dark theme also!
Dark theme please! Material design is good but whitish backgrounds are a sore to my eyes. Edit: thank you!!
Pretty good actually! I am using Omich Player - also a Vanilla/Apollo fork and I really like it for how it handles embedded album art. This Vanilla fork however seems to also behave well and not compress embedded artwork. It doesn't seem to be a ram hog either. The Material Design implementation is basic but with some polish this can be up there with the most popular play store players.
Great A very nice music player, I'd go as far as to say the best one I've used. Simple, fast and stable. Developer cares about bugs and opinions of users and reacts to them, all in all a wonderful app that's become a must-have on my list.
Only critic is: often covers imported from iTunes aren't displayed correctly
This is the best and simplest player. Liking the new update ? If you guys can add the option to edit the tags on the music file thru Vanilla player that'd be great.
Adless No advertisements, very small app with no permissions (other than to view your music). I would have paid for this it's that good.
I used about a year and I love this But recently I have some problem to use this At some songs, player stops by itself so I should press play button again How can I fix this bug?
The Best! I like it because it's opensource and has shake function!
For my use case, plain directorybased gapless playback, there are 2 issues/missing features: 1. Option to play whole directory when selecting first file and 2. When plplaying a whole directory sorting by file is wrong, i.e. 13_xxx is played before 01_yyyy Also the app crashes whenselecting sort by Hopefully this can be improved ;)
Great It is a good music player, it does what its supposed to. I'm not too fond of material design though. What first got me to like it a few years ago was the design back then.
Does what it has to do and it's not invasive Wish it showed the embedded lyrics though
Needs swipe up and down In Poweramp swiping up and down on the now playing screen takes you to the next folder or album... this player needs this functionality to be better than a ok app.... themes would be nice to for it to match my car dash. I used this app in mirror link for my car.
FOSS FTW!! This is why I love open source!
Nice and Simple ? Best sound Quality
It was my fav, but you did this. Oh god, why? Like when it was monochromic, but this.. Just no, hell no.
Plays everything in the wrong order. Major bug with the order of playback.
Simple, open source. Just what I needed. Very simple yet capable music player. Has no noticeable bugs or annoyances. Best of all, open source and actively developed!
You will disable Google's play music Enjoying the application. Work's and doesn't keep asking me if I want to give up 9 bucks a month for a streaming service... Imagine that. Keep up the good work.
Goog player One of the best on market. UI is not user friendly, but its free. Recommend it
Just the best. Could use an option to edit the tags of songs though.
Cannot recommend this app highly enough, zippy, simple and clearly laid out.
10 ot of 10 Great work!
Nice Very nice music player. Simple and with extensive options for costumization.
Still needs a "Force Portrait" option. This Vanilla fork seems to behave well and not compress embedded artwork. It doesn't seem to be a ram hog either. The Material Design implementation is basic but with some polish this can be up there with the most popular play store players.
Looks good but folder play only plays one song How can I make it play more than one song when playing folders or starting play mode by selecting a specific song from a folder?
1 star to get your attn : 1. Playlist empty after last update ..... 2. More user friendly gui @playlist pls ( i will sent my design via email )
Excellent Really good player
It's still the best
No ads Gives me back control of my music library through folders. I have thoughtfully arranged my music in clearly labelled folders just the way I like.
Almost Perfect No ads. Good options. Can't seem to get it to continue playing files in a folder unless enqued.
A few issues This is a great simple app for music, I only have 2 issues with it: 1 playlists don't work. 2 the buttons on the far side of the play/pause don't have any description as to what they are for or do. Not by any means something that detracts badly but something I hope is addressed down the line
The music player plays my music the way I want...... free and cool
I love this music player
Simple & Sweet Its an awesome app...clean and lightlight..direct delete option also available..however would have loved if "SHARE" and "set as ringtone" options were also available..request u to have those option..will give five stars then..
Amazing!! The music app is very simplistic in Ui and gives an amazing music playback with bieng lighter than any other music player out there and can also interface with a built in equalizer if installed.
List of repairs needed :-- ?? 1) Change the app icon (make it unique?) 2) Add the previous button to the lockscreen controls. ? 3) Add grid view for albums.? 4) Fix the bug which causes "sometimes" the music to skip forward a bit. ➿ 5) If possible add a refresh option. ? 6) Disable redundancy in the favourite list. ? Rest seems OK for now. Good job developers AWESOME MINDBLOWING FABULOUS app ?????????????
Beauty in simplicity Does the job and nothing else what more could you ask these days.
Ask only for the minimal permission, does its job and play all types of files. I don't need anything else.
Simple Equalizer doesn't load, though.
Its the best, but a suggestion... Its the best out here, but at the lockscreen widged would be perfect if u added also the back track button. Everything else is perfect.
Excellent lightweight music player found in playstore. But graphics are quite outdated but i think this what its makes so lightweight. Only one small request while tapping on song its playing only one song. Tried changing settings but still play all on tap doesnt work it plays only one song. While in the songs tab play all button works but its only in songs tab. Kindly fix asap.
Does exactly what it says and no ads. Great little app. No adverts, no network connection needed. Playback is great and I have had no problems on my Kyocera Hydrovibe. The interface may not suit everyone but having tried several mp3 players I'm happy with one that is this light and easy.
It's Ok Doesn't play any .flac files. Some missing features, but a good app.
Simple, powerful music player Allows me to add songs to a playlist from the built-in file manager. Cool. Simple, clean, unobtrusive, open source. Does only what it needs to.
Been using your app since Galaxy S2. The only thing I wanted right now is the higher than 100% volume like the v0.9.17 of this app. Just for my speakers purpose.
Simple music player Nothing flashy, it plays music and does it well. Unlike the other ones in the play store, this does not come with a bunch of bloat you don't need and it supports FLAC.
Better than the stock Android app. A masterfully coded, efficient piece of software. Works great, plays all file formats I throw at it (FLAC, MP3, ogg, ect.) and stores playlists by their file path so I don't have to remake my playlists when I delete my music folders and add new songs. Incredibly efficient, has tons of features, lots really quickly, and the UI is great. The newest update uses vector images, so the app is incredibly small and efficient!
Great player. With features not found in others Adrian thank you for this player. I am building my. CM13 and 20i custom roms based on it. If you dont mind. Hats off.
Excellent lightweight music player found in playstore. But graphics are quite outdated but i think this what its makes so lightweight. Only one small request please add permission to delete file from sd card in marshmallow.
Excellent app, does what it says.
Great There is one problem I cant fully quit the app it stays on notifications
Supe Free and Open Source
The music player plays my music the way I want...... free and cool.....and still getting better. sadly since an update to marshmallow, file browser can't find my music file on the sd card :) still not able to find my external sd card, needs to be able to go to sd mnt.
Best music app I have ever found I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is the best music app ever made! So many developers could and should learn from this app. Well done and Thank you
The music player I always wanted. Google's music player has lots of strange behaviors when it's offline, so I was looking for something that could handle music stored on my phone. This free, opensource app has almost every feature I could want! My favorite features (hidden in settings): ●Start playing when launched (great for when you're in the car) ●Playlists ●Only play through headphone (can't mistakenly play over external speaker) Still missing a few features I'd like, but since it's open source, I can add them myself!
I'm very happy with it. It has so many features nobody else has. Clearly written by an audiophile who loves the open source mentality. Yes this app is released in Open Source!
Excellent Well done! Has evolved to be the best music player and playlist manager.
Nice app? Could be even more better if playing a song from an album could give an option to queue the entire album automatically. This would make switching songs convenient.?
Light, fast, simple Good interface. Only nitpick it doesn't support .ape.
Ok app Overall looks good with few drawback. 1.Not support all music format 2.Couldn't find theme feature as in description 3.The UI is different than your screenshot, all dark and ugly.
Better than the stock Android app. A masterfully coded, efficient piece of software. Works great, plays all file formats I throw at it (FLAC, MP3, ogg, ect.) and stores playlists by their file path so I don't have to remake my playlists when I delete my music folders and add new songs. Incredibly efficient, has tons of features, loads almost instantly, and the UI is great. IT uses vector images, so the app is incredibly small, too!
the best the best Player ever. small, fast and functional
My only complaint is that there is no option to choose which folders to include or exclude in the library
Like it so much One thing missing is the ability to add music video to playlist (mp4 for example), so we can mix video music and mp3 just for listening.
The simplest, just the basics
when i open song from filemanager it open in notifiction area.Any way to open in foreground?
One of the best and lightest Extremely simple and well thought.Plus: the developer cares! But still auto-que of tracks after choosing the 1st track in a folder doesn't work. Changing the library settings doesn't work.
Clean and simple says it all You can organise your music the way you want to, plays lots of formats well and doesn't have any adverts.
replay gain and flac Great music player, light, supports replay gain and all my music types. The only flaw is that with the latest patch i can't long tap a song in "now playing" and "add to playlist"
All common formats?? Seems a really good player but a lot of my albums are in WMA format. I suppose I could always convert but that would take some time and effort. My files are already on my computer and would be so much easier to just transfer instead of having to be ripped again
Use it for local file playing, something missing from many cloud based apps these days
Best music lite app Very simple clear n easy music player with evrythng
Excellent Really good player. Never let me down once.
Does one thing (playing music) really well. The only thing I miss is support for the opus file format.
My favorite music player
Brilliant Used it for years - my only music app for the 110 GB of music on my smartphone.
Playlist issue After adding a few songs to playlist, I clicked the first song on the playlist. Song played well & then vanilla player stopped, it should play the next song on playlist but it doesn't. Me now taking away a star. Vanilla player can add setting to exclude certain folder of songs from appearing in the song library
I've ReplayGained my whole library, so wanted something that would handle it. This is the first player I've found that actually worked, and it's Free too! Since I've barely used it yet, it's 4 stars but that'll probably change in a day or two
Excellent lightweight music player found in playstore. But graphics are quite outdated but i think this what its makes so lightweight. Only one small request please add permission to delete file from sd card in marshmallow and double tap earphones button doesn't go to previous song.
Very good One small problem: once a playlist is selected and playing...their is no indication which playlist has been selected. Otherwise has evolved to be the best music player and playlist manager.
Best music player on the store This has been my go to player on android ever since I got my phone. The devs are very nice and fix problems quickly and it's open source.
Fantastic After searching for ages, I finally found the perfect music player for android.
Great open source music app with all the features I need.
Perfect light weight music player with helpful customizations.
Foobar's Refuge Dream Player
Awesomesauce Designed to *just* play music
replay gain and flac Great music player, light, supports replay gain and all my music types. The only flaws are that with the latest patch i can't long tap a song in "now playing" and "add to playlist" and ordering the songs in a playlist messes up sometimes
Please add feature Lyrics Im so love this music player. So smooth and the best music player i've ever found. But i just really hope this music player can be use to display the lyrics. Please add this feature. Im begging you?
There are three things that I would love to see but it's okay if developer don't have time. 1. Please make the back button on the folder based tab exit the app if we have set the folder as default music folder instead of going back to directory. 2. I hope in folder based the music directory lists all folders as if they are playlist instead of going inside a folder where another folder exists. 3. Lastly it would be perfect if selecting a song enqueues all within the same folder. Thank you very much for this perfect app.
Finally, an ad-free way to listen It seems not many music players can do what Vanilla Music does: offer a straightforward way to play your locally-stored music without bombarding you with ads. Was looking for a replacement for WinAmp, and it seems that I've found it.
Light, fast, simple Good interface. Support shuffle all library.
