Guitar Player Magazine says: "This ingenious super metronome was developed by funky-as-hell Sco sideman Avi Bortnick. It will leave out beats randomly to force you to strengthen your own inner time-keeping muscles, and it has other cool features for odd meters, drum machine-style patterns, and more. For the low price of $2.99, this is an awesome learning, grooving, solidifying tool."
NoTreble.com says: "I love the aesthetic and layout of Time Guru. It’s very simple and elegant. Time Guru also offers ability to set randomness of your subdivisions (great for testing your internal clock)... There is one thing that Time Guru does that I absolutely love, and for which, this app will always live on my Phone – at the top of the screen, you will see a series of numbers (1-7). When you press a number, it is set first in a sequence and you can choose a subdivision that will then repeat that number of times (or set it to rest that number of times). Sound confusing? It isn’t, because the layout is so simple. Every time you press a new number, it is set next in the sequence and you choose your continue to choose your subdivisions."
Develop your inner sense of rhythm with Time Guru - the only metronome with the ability to mute its sound at random, in sequenced patterns, or both, so that you can assess whether you tend to rush or drag or loose your place with odd meters. Time Guru can periodically leave you on your own so that you strengthen your own internal sense of time, rather than relying on the constant, rigid, external time keeping of a metronome. It's like training wheels that sometimes come up off the ground.
Time Guru also features:
-the ability to play in different time signatures or sequences of time signatures (additive time signatures)
-create rhythmic drum-machine like patterns
-save presets for tempo, meter, sound and muting-
-35 loud sound sets;
-Human or robot voice counting in English, Chinese, French, German or Russian - great for teaching!
-tap tempo (5 to 300 BPM range)
-super accurate, rock-solid timing via a customized audio engine.
And of course it can function as a normal metronome. It is the ultimate tool for becoming a rock-steady, time guru.

Must have for serious musicians This is the 3rd metronome app I've used and by far my favorite. The UI looks fantastic and is super easy to navigate. The random mute function is awesome and really puts a challenge to your playing. Awesome app!!!!!
The only metronome app that can take away beats that I know of I can take away beats for practicing my internal pulse. I can also have it do subdivisions and multimeter. Cheaper than a Korg or Dr. Beat and do anything they can do.
Time guru I bought the android tablet (HP) because of the time guru metronome! Really excellent!
best metronome app I've found! the sequencing feature is something I've longed for in a metronome. I don't always want just 8ths or just 16ths, sometimes I want to switch between them I only wish there was a button for tuplets, to make 5-tuplets or 7-tuplets with 16ths or 8s or quarters, etc
Incredibly versatile. This thing has changed the way I practice. Fantastic app.
Best From all of the best musicians I've spoken to, playing between longer clicks do that you have to be responsible for more of the time is the best way to improve your time. This app does that, and it sequences, too. What more could you want? Perhaps more tuplet beat divisions like fives and sevens. That's all.
Pulse! So useful for testing internal pulse as well as unusual meters.
exactly what I was looking for I really needed an app for odd meters and no other metronome so far does that. The interface is also simple to understand and easy to use. If I had one suggestion it would be to put "additive rhythms" or "additive meters" in your description so that your product would come up more easily in searches for musicians looking for something like this!
Exactly what I've been looking for I was turned onto this app by the drum instructor Adam Tuminaro. Everything I have been searching for in a mobile metronome is in TGM: odd times, pulse variety, vocal counting, and ability to save my personalized clicks for easy access later. Very nice user interface as well.
Good, but programming the silence would be great too
Time Guru I found this app very useful. No bugs so far and is very easy to use. I suggest this app over many others.
Amazing!!! Once you've tried it for the first time U Can't Stop
Counting starts from eight? How come?
Human Voices The human voices have a tiny lag when coming back to the "1" count. Other than that it's a really great app!
Nice metronome Really dig its mixed meter capabilities.
Ohmygodyouhavetogetthis I've been searching for this my whole life. I am so happy right now. If you need to do heavy (as in Don Ellis or Dream Theater) mixed meter stuff, or have the metronome drop beats (random or pre-determined) to train your sense of time, this is what you've been looking for.
One of a kind Best metramome on the market. The random mute is genius too
Crashes in settings menu.
It is perfect.
Does what I need
Best But the icon is horrible!
Like it. Love the spoken counts, expect, why does German one sound like a robot that wants to kill me?
ESSENTIAL! If you can be patient for 5 minutes and learn the interface -- which isn't particularly challenging, it's just different than what you're used to -- then you'll realize that this is an amazing tool that can help take you places you probably had never even thought of before! No, really... Try randomly programming something, completely ignoring any formal structure, then force yourself to play that. Once you've got it, turn on the Gradual Random Mute function. Yeah, now I think you're getting the idea. Enjoy it.
Bass play all day! Set time and tempo then add more cowbell! Great practice tool. Get this app.
Best Metronome Need a little bit learning at first. Once you know how it works you'll never use other metronome apps anymore.
great app awesome app I love it. I was editing this type of behavior into protools to do this before. random feature is brilliant. huge fan! great work!
Highly Recommended!! One of the best practice tools I've bought from the Play Store. Highly recommended! **feature request: 1) the ability to send a feature request from within the app. 2) the ability to create a widget for one of my home screens, so I don't have to navigate the app drawer every time I need to use time guru. **
Instant Inspiration Time Guru is the essential rhythm inspiration tool
Great app Really useful for taking time feel training to the next level!
Time guru This app is really cool and practical. It's great as a basic metronome but the random beat drop can be a really great tool for getting internalizing the time.
Great Love this app, great for practice and feeling the time.
Great UI Love the app. The UI is great one you learn how to use it (although removing a subdivision still doesn't feel natural). My new favourite metronome!
Great app. Extremely useful for multiple meter practice, which is very hard to find in a metronome. Love the subdivision options too. Get it!
Versatile Fits my needs perfectly. Irregular & compound meters are a breeze to setup. I wish it was possible to select different sounds for different beats/subdivisions, but it's not that important.
Has almost the same properties as a free metronome app. Compared to the mobile metronome app this is app absolutely disappointing. The mobile metronome app is free and has a more transparent design. The only + in time guru is that it has a mute option which helps the user develop his or her time feel.
unimpressed the only good thing is the human voice counting. the rest of the app is worthless
Wonderful app, slight room for improvement I love this app. It does everything and more than what you'd want from a programmable metronome. My one request would be to allow longer rhythmic phrases to be programmed. But this would be icing on the cake. The app is already incredibly capable.
Very Good Metronome Very good & pleasant sounding metronome; powerful yet easy to use. Some additional features like different sounds for different subdivisions and being able to set a softer or no accent for the first note of some groups to use with compound signature would make it awesome. Some timer functionalities like basic timer, repeatable timer with sound notification would make it the perfect practice companion.
Thank you I take guitar lessons and have trouble keeping a solid rhythm through out the entire piece. This app is a godsend for practice.
just amazing. Just what i was looking for. for only 2 bucks, its well worth it. As a designer i would live some visual options like color changes, but i cant be greedy. Five stars for sure
Great app! In general, this app works very well. The random mute feature is really kicking my butt. My only complaint is that the selected metronome tone doesn't seem to save. I have to set it every time I hit the "play" button. Not a big deal, but a minor nuisance. Definitely recommended overall, though!
Great app, just does exactly what it claims to. I just wish it had the option to mute entire measures.
Great App It's a beautiful and easy to work with. I will like for you to include speed trainer.
Better than any other ...from what I've tried. This one took a minute to figure out, but it's worth your time. It keeps very steady time and is simple to use. It's so convenient to have on my phone. I can use it with my drumming students, or while practicing on my own. I say this app is a must have for any aspiring musician or well-seasoned professional.
Perfect for odd time practice I've really been able to strengthen my understanding of a lot of odd time signatures using this app, it's great.
Very useful Obviously designed by a musician.
Great concept; a few bugs Bought the app for my iPad a while ago and decided I needed it on my phone too, a Nexus 5X on the latest security update. The app is a must have in a musician's mobile app tool kit. However I'm experiencing quite a few crashes when changing parameters while the metronome is running which is slightly frustrating.
One annoying issue. The app is amazing but there's one very annoying flaw. 3 stars are for the developer's attention. When changing the tempo long pressing the left and right buttons, Unlike the ios version where it jumps to numbers ending in 5 or 0 (0,5,10,15..), on the Android version it jumps by 1 and then jumps by consecutive 5s. This jumping system makes no sense and makes it harder to reach the desired tempo. Please fix this ~~~. Other than that the app is fantastic. I'll 5☆ once this is fixed!
Great App Does an amazing job. Very intuitive during setup. Has easy functionality for a beginner but has advanced applications for setting up more difficult tempos. The only drawback is the functions are arranged to closely on the screen so it is easy to select the wrong function which wastes time.
Killer Just programmed 4 Rumba and Son claves in about 5 minutes. Takes a bit of a learning curve, but highly recommend.
Time guru Excellent app, bit of a problem with scrolling through to the right of the screen if programming longer cycles of clave for example... But overall excellent
Excellent Very good metronome with variety of sounds. Make your own rhythmic patterns. I use it in live situations also!
Great app but have a feature request Please consider adding the ability to count measures, e.g. 1234, 2234, 3234, 4234. I have yet to find an app that can do that. Maybe add a 4th row at the top your UI to allow the user to divide into separate measures. Thanks.
Just what I was looking for. Loaded with features, yet very easy to use. An excellent app for honing your rhythm using ghost clicks. The perfect metronome app for Android.
