Poor support from Fairfax and google - Fairfax fixed it Was enjoying this app & subscription until about a week ago the app has ceased recognising that my subscription is current. Contacted Fairfax and they said it's not their problem. Contacted google and they have indicated that all is well with my subscription. Only outlet is to post a poor review in the hopes that someone in the know will look into this problem. Fairfax finally acknowledged that the problem with the app and has rectified the issue. If only it wasn't so hard...

peter jetnikoff

Much improved Previous login problems made the app so unusable I had to cancel my subscription. These have been fixed and the app is very usable now. I have trouble accessing the content in some wifi contexts but that might be due to local policies. I've left the previous review to indicate the change. It was two stars. "Can't login. The page after login never stops loading. And when I try resetting my password via email link the page won't load"

Steve Phillips

Annoyed and disappointed Can't find the Environment section, you seem to only get a small subset of the news, useless as far as I'm concerned.

Nigel Senior

Disappointed I like the app but it logs me out every time I exit the app, on multiple devices. Support is limited to sending out FAQs, seems poor for a subscription service :(

Michael Meakin

Dinosaurs Dinosaur organisation, logs out after each use, support refuses to return emails and for good measure displays blank pages from time to time. Why don't they address these issues that everbody keeps complaining about?

Lynn Pollock

Poorly designed app.. Fairfax thinks the iPad is the only device worthy of full development.. Shame Fairfax as there are far more Android tablets and phones than Apples.. Wake up or lose subscribers..

David Griffiths

Good be better for subscribers Unable to do find the entertainment section that has the puzzles. It would be nice to have all the puzzles interactive like sudoku and the ability to save. Also a further fine addition would be the daily TV guide. It has improved greatly and is easier for novices too use.

David s

David s Clumsy on Samsung tab , very slow, disappointed that I signed up, too much 'This plugin not supported' filling the screen, keen to get better results, please advise

Andrew Hart

Too slow and stops reacting Sorry, am sick of waiting for this thing to change pages when I tell it. On broadband too. Uninstalling

Frank Barillaro

Android a step back from ipad Updated to an android tablet and have been disappointed. Too much blue area on front and summary pages, and as a consequence the font is too small and can't be increased. Also, no crossword. I wrote to the Age and got a less than convincing reply; something like " sorry about the crossword but we ain't fixing it anytime soon". Bye bye subscription.

Ryhan H

Ok once you fight the set up Setup was difficult, took many attempts to have the app recognise then remember my log in details. Once set up the app works well. Only issue is it keeps changing my settings to display sections such as daily life at the top. I honestly don't care who did what on the red carpet, let me read my news!

A Google User

Endless Blank Pages Nexus 10! Its a great app when its working which is hard to predict as the pages go white often after only a few minutes reading....most frustrating! Fairfax media have tried a number of different fixes but no joy.

EDUARDO CUSTEAU

the age app Works really well. Easy way to get news. On the run

Hermann Lutz

Login again? Login bug still not fixed. Blank screen again...force stop to fix it....AGAIN.

Hamish Moffatt

Extremely buggy It's fine when it works but most days I experience multiple crashes, or it starts to display blank pages. Now I can't even login. Tech support were not responsive and did not offer any solutions.

Lael Ridgway

Very frustrating. I miss a lot of the news that I get on the website. I can't access the crossword and now it's not letting me login. Very frustrating.

Fiona Sheppard

Terrible app for android. You cant just read through the paper, it keeps jumping to previous editions! So annoying. Am subscibed to other newspapers and the tablet version of The Australian is brilliant & so easy to use. Seeya to The Age - you lost this reader

Priyanka Banerjee

Good but where are the crosswords?? Works really well but PLEASE include the daily crossword!!! :'(

Yang Liao

Workable but not what I expected It runs smoothly on my Nexus 5, but it was not what I expected -- I hoped to have the layout exactly the same as the newspaper, not a reformatted TheAge website. If FairFox can have it done on iPads, why not do the same thing on Android tablets?

Kim Neuhold

OK but please include the crosswords! If you can include the crosswords in the IPad version, why not for Android? The news stories work well on my Nexus 7.

Ross Wilson

Paid content is unavailable App does not remember my login details even half an hour later

Matteas G

Crashes my Nexus 7 every time Worked for a while though just crashes immediately after loading an article now requiring a full hard restart, every time. Completely unusable. Running 4.4.4. Very disappointing

Aaron McGrath

Stories, and that's it. Where are the quizzes etc? Make the entire edition available on Android like Apple has.

David Burke

Blank pages for a week now On my Galaxy Tab S I've had blank pages for a week now. No reply from support either. Poor for a paid service

Anthony Spawton

Disappointed Have cancelled my subscription as the Android app will not download -- waste of money.

Iain Pople

Still crashes Crashes constantly on nexus 10. Can't understand how this could be voted best app of anything. We can barely access the content that we are paying a subscription for.

margaret granger

Terrible app Why can't The Age make a better effort to support Android? Don't they realize how many customers they will lose.

Joseph Zanca

The Age Like the recently updated AFR, the usability of the Age application is excellent.

Bob Whitehead

Often only displays a few pages before going blank on Nexus 10.

George Dres

Remove the blue box You are taking up screen space with the extra blue section field and reducing our reading space with a static box that is annoying , make it an option in settings if you want it displayed

Kevin Wong

Font Recently changed font up a size and now can't change back to smaller font size. Otherwise the app is user friendly

william chapman

Surely the age could find a way to include the crossword for android tablet users

Luke Vesty

Much better The latest update has improved this app significantly. Performance is now very smooth and responsive. The key thing I'd now like to see is a font size setting that applies throughout the entire app, not just in articles themselves. The summary text of news items is very small with no way to increase its size.

Mzantsi Murray

Rough around the edges The app is now readable on a Nexus 7, but the headlines are cropped showing a lack of care. There are still good stories worth reading, but you have to dig down past the Editor's Choice to find them. This is not a serious app compared to Guardian, ABC or New York Times. Too many thumbnail images and clickbait. But it is a bastion against the Murdoch trolls, so let's hope they get it right eventually.

Alistair Ferrier

Scaling issue with Nexus 7 fixed Most recent update works with Nexus 7 kitkat. Thanks for listening to feedback.

David Lucas

Subscription does now work while offline Finally, after all those months of trying to explain to them that a device needed to be connected to the internet when the app was started, they've finally fixed it. It was useless up until now, because I read it on plane trips where we must power down and restart the device. Thank you The Age, although I wouldn't say you finally listened to me because I gave up on error reports months ago. It's actually pretty funny to think how stupid they think we are, when I gave a simple explanation of the problem and how to replicate it, and they could not (or would not) believe me.

Nathan Sargent

Can't play video Also, the pages go blank sometimes and I have to restart the app for them to come back. Using a Nexus 10. Update: apparently this is now fixed.

Richard Rawson

Problem with android 4.3.3 Since upgrading to android 4.3.3 the problems associated with content disappearing of its own accord have reappeared on my Nexus 10.

Toycamera Princessm

1st time I tried to use it got a “parsing error ”, can't do anything.

Mark Mcdougall

Worst app in the store The Google credentials never work to login and it keeps asking for them again and again - complete rubbish

Bruce Mohan

Persistent as wreck this app You have paid for a subscription and now Fairfax have embedded ads over the top of some news stories with no way of getting rid of them. Highly irritating. Makes the app unusable. You can't read the stories, which is why you formed out that money for in the first place. DON'T BOTHER WITH THIS APP OR WITH THE PAPER. Fairfax have crossed the line here.

Gerard Clarkson

Very poor. Can only access a small selection of content compared to the main website

Steve Thompson

Good up to date current news

Adam Gates

Images Why arent images included in the download? Makes reading on my commute feel like Im missing something.

Ross Wilson

Does not handle offline reading well Very poor at offline content, regularly misses downloading of pages with no ability to force a refresh. Some days it download everything then just displays blank pages for the entire paper until the next day

Dan Goodes

Where are the crosswords? Seriously, why else would someone fork out money for this, if not for the crosswords? But, while they're available on iOS, they're not on Android ... why? And why hasn't the app been updated in over a year? Definitely not going to be subscribing to this POC.

A Google User

Endless Blank Pages Nexus 10! Its a great app when its working which is hard to predict as the pages go white often after only a few minutes reading....most frustrating! Fairfax media have tried a number of different fixes but no joy.

Vicki Conroy

Would be fine if it refreshed each day without having to go back to open it from the app. Sometimes refreshes automatically, sometimes doesn't New paper every day??

Chamal Gajaweera

Stupid. .... I can't read the newspaper because it will not download in my device

Gaz B

The Age app for tablet? Adequate for my Samsung galaxy ANDROID tablet, but why is it not available for ANDROID smartphones? Have contacted ths Age several times and the only response is "we'll pass on your request to our technical team"! Come on Fairfax, get your act together and start looking afer your customers, after all ther are more ANDROID devices in Australia than those silly iPones!

Nigel Senior

Intuitive and stable Much improved in recent times

Jade Louise Charles

Would be good to have a phone application

Doug King

Freezes regularly & is very slow to load

Rik G

Now it sucks I used this app for years since it first came out. Now you have to subscribe, so it now sucks.

Mark Jam

Blank pages, no support from Tech Dept. It is loading blank pages on my android tablet and phone. Today it is loading some pages from the previous day but most pages remain blank, this is not satisfactory for a paid subscription, I want a response from the technical dept so that this can be fixed. Reading through other reviews I can see this has been happening since 2014.

Lynn Pollock

Poorly designed app.. No crossword or latest news in Android version! Fairfax thinks iOS is the only version worthy of full development.. Shame Fairfax as there are far more Android tablets and phones than Apples.. Wake up or lose subscribers..

Bruce Dixon

If this is the best Fairfax can do, sell their shares It might come as a surprise to senior management and the board of Fairfax but in 2016 the best publishers in the world are continually improving their digital publications..not sitting on their laurels .the Age android app is poor, slow and lacks any innovative features. Read other reviews for confirmstion of this and the appalling lack of tech support. If you want to see where the Age should b try the Washington Post, Quartz ...and where is Fairfax's android version of the Fin Review?

Peter McBean

Not Andriod comptabile! ! 12 months subscription only limted access to only read editors choice Custmer service from the Philippines non existent Surely Fairfax can rectify this anomaly! !!Xtrmly disappointed

Lael Ridgway

Very frustrating. I miss a lot of the news that I get on the website. I can't access the crossword and now it's not letting me login. Very frustrating. This was an issue in 2014. They fixed the login issue, but it's back after the latest update. Get your act together guys!

Katie Schroeter

Stopped working After working well for 18 months is now loading blank pages and is unusable. No reply from support after a week. Don't bother.

Arnold Wheeler

Any excellent newspaper. No problems with App on my Samsung Tablet. Used it for 3 years now @ $17.99 pcm instead of having paper home delivered. Do miss the supplements provided by advertisers though.

Mark Renshaw

No longer supported!! Don't bother! Reported some bugs including not being able to access certain content and was advised THIS APP IS NO LONGER SUPPORTED. Still being charged the same subscription nor is there any mention here that support has been stopped. Not even the courtesy of an email to advise. Not happy.

Wheres the crossword? App works fine. My wife has an ipad and its version has the daily crossword. Why cant it be in the android version? Has been this way for years now. Come on fairfax, if you want people to go the digital path you do your bit.
