Download Tech Junkie - Technology News apk 2.14 free for Android smartphone
Apk file size: 2.7 MB
Version 2.0 now available!
Tech Junkie brings you the latest and the most relevant technology news, hand picked and curated by Techmeme.com, the world's most popular technology news aggregation service. For thousands of people, including industry leading CEOs and the who's who of silicon valley, the day starts with Techmeme.com. And now Tech Junkie makes sure your favorite tech site is available in its truest form on your phones and tablets, with added features such as notification, news widget and more.
Even if you don't have time to go through the news, Tech Junkie has a radio function that will read out the news for you.
Version 2 Features:
★ Radio - reads out the news for you and can be accessed outside the app too with the new radio widget
★ Rich Notifications - Android 4.1+ devices will display multi-line notification with photo from the story
★ Dynamic Site Icons - if the icon (or logo) of a site is not available within the app, Tech Junkie will attempt to download and cache it directly from the source site
★ Swipe to close article (beta) - now you can close the mobile view by swiping horizontally, from left to right or right to left; ideal for one-handed use, instead of stretching for the back button.
★ Scalable design - for both phones and tablets (for 7" like the Nexus 7 in particular)
★ Top News section - that shows only the most relevant news
★ River section - featuring all news stories
★ History tab - that provides a searchable list of your reading history
★ Events tab - that has a table of major technology events that are happening around the world
★ Mobile View - that loads articles faster, in a mobile friendly way and within the app
★ Color change - for news titles to indicate a story that has been read (similar to link color in web browsers)
★ Notifications - for top news only
★ Widget - that displays all stories from River section
★ Control the notification, set the refresh rate, ringtone, vibration, LED light and more
What differentiates Tech Junkie from other tech news apps is that you only have to read the news once, instead of going through it again and again from different sites. For example if the same news appears at Engadget, Gizmodo, TechCrunch and The Verge, Tech Junkie displays prominently only the first site that was to report that news, groups the rest of the sites into a collection and hides it from the main view. Alternate sources and relevant tweets of the same news can be accessed by clicking the "More" and "Tweets" button respectively. And when one or more news items are related, they are properly grouped like on the Techmeme website. Author names (when available) are also properly mentioned just above the story title (like Ian Sherr / Wall Street Journal, John Roberts / New York Times, John Paczkowski / AllThingsD), so that you can easily identify your favorite author's works.
Download Tech Junkie today and have your daily dose of relevant technology news, without reading the same story....twice.
New Permissions Explained:-
READ PHONE STATE permission is used to stop the radio when you receive an incoming call. Otherwise the radio will continue playing and you won't be able to hear your caller.
MODIFY OR DELETE THE CONTENTS OF YOUR SD CARD permission is used to cache the site icons downloaded.
Tech Junkie is in no way affiliated with Techmeme.com. We love Techmeme and wanted to provide the best user experience for the site, on phones and tablets. We do believe nothing can match the convenience of visiting Techmeme.com directly when using a PC and would recommend you to do so. But when you are on the go, Tech Junkie will come in handy. All icon copyrights belong to the respective sites.

Freeky Geeky turning into Funky Junkie Sorry there, I somehow get absorbed into my thoughts. All well, I really"get down"with the apps'name. It keeps me informed about the Android news and information. Like, I said, "the app is "cool,"reading it by the pool."So stay ahead and read about androids, upgrades and technology.
Loading slow It takes a whilr for it to load other than that its a good app but the slowness is annoying
Can use it Since downloading this app has not loaded once. After two days I gave up...... Delete Note 2
Good but slow I'd give 5 stars but the load up time Is slow. .over 10 seconds. Otherwise, very good app
Mixed bag Great app to stay up to date with tech news, however it randomly crashes when using the widget, both on a galaxy S2 and Y which is very annoying
Works well Works well, but UI feels clunky and old.
Good app Tech news in detail.
Great news...if only I could still read them What's with the random errors every time I load a news article?
Very slow to load
Not recommended I cannot recommend this app because it is very slow (Nexus 7 (2012)) and the layout is very strange. Not very intuitive or responsive.
Was great I was so loving this app, all techie news in one place, but today nothing loads, thought maybe there was an update, but no. Extremely disappointed, being a techie student, news came to me. Fix it please, miss my daily dose.
Too slow I like the widget but there's no way to choose the feeds. Also, the app itself takes forever to load the articles and freezes often.
Great job Make a same app for new android apps
Not a bad app, and a decent widget
StorieStories cannot load stories please fix
I just installed this application and it is throwing exceptions all the time
Awesomeness If you are not using this app. You are missing out big time
Promising Please, please an inverted display option (white on black) for OLED screens and night reading!
Great This app is great. I love the notifications.
Amazing This app is incredible and keeps you up to date with all tech news.I love getting the frequent notifications and reading up on all the up to date news
Impossible to turn off notifications News articles were ok, but it took awhile to load. Worst thing was that I tried to turn off the notifications, but it kept sending annoying notifications. Uninstalled it and will not download again. Nexus 7
Tech News in one place All major articles in one place: Great work.
Jwdetailco Gives you all the alerts you will ever need
Alonzo! New new source of tech news...
This program sucks It takes way too long to load and it crashes every other time I open it.
Great content Takes a year and a half to load
Love it Nice app that is well designed. A must for tech fans. Great support too. Keep up the good work.
Would Not Shut Off Notifications I have a Motorola Atrix 2, and no combination of Settings kept the notifications from appearing, which I didn't want. Had to uninstall.
Really good I decided to check this one out after reading about it in the comments section of an article on Android Police. The Dev posted about it and was promptly met with a snarky comment from a reader. Which I thought sucked; someone writing a free app deserves automatic respect. So I downloaded the app..and I really like it. Great job!
Good App:) perfect mobile app of Tech meme...self changing widget with LED notification and 'notify above rank' option are amazing....love it :)
Works best A must have app for techies!
Below Average This app loads slowly and sends me push notifications after disabling them. If you want a good tech news app, download The Verge
