TanGra is a dance and music app designed for Dance Teachers, Dance Students and any Music lovers with the desire to make use of the underlying beat structure of music. TanGra supports setting up the beat structure of music in common 4/4, 3/4, 2/4, 6/8 and 12/8 time signatures. TanGra also stores and catalogs all your dance moves and in the near future also all your choreography. It is hoped that the TanGra will aid dancers of all ages, from school students to the professional dancers, in their creative journey in dance.

* No Advertising.
* Installs on your sd card where available.
* Automatically loads and updates all supported music and videos on your device into the app.
* Plots the beat structure of music or videos (with music in them) on your device. Allowing you to navigate around the media file at the beat level (seeking from a One Count position to the next). Also allows the beats per minute to be calculated and shows the selected timing of the music.
* The beat structure is plotted by tapping the beat as the media file plays. Mathematics is then applied to the taps to calculate the beat structure for the whole media file, adjusting for errors in the tapping.
* Allows you to catalog your dance moves and attach videos to these moves. It is like having a dance move list on your device you can review to remind you of all your moves. Options included when making a move include name, dance style, description, number of beats to complete move, video and sound files. A Modern Jive move has extra options including start and end handholds, feet positions and orientation to the audience.
* Once a music or video file has been set up, beat bars will show where the beat is at any given moment. A Thumb on the bar will progress as each beat is reached and can be used to navigate the media file at the beat level.
* Has a voice recorder to record your voice for the counts. As a media file is playing you can turn on the call count and the count pattern of your dance style can be called out using your voice. Can optionally set it to call out movement based calls such as quick, slow, walk, hold, triple step etc (depending on the type your dance style uses). Call count works best on devices running Android 4.1 and higher as it will use the fast track audio path introduced in this Android release. Older devices that have not been updated will still play the count, however will likely experience latency issues at times inherit in all older Android versions.
*Current supported count patterns include:
Straight count (4 and 8)
Rolling 8 count
Cha Cha
East Coast Swing single and triple count patterns
Lindy Hop 6 and 8 count patterns
Modern Jive
Salsa on 1 and Salsa on 2
Waltz and Viennese Waltz
West Coast Swing 6 and 8 count patterns
Zouk (Porto Seguro and Rio Styles)
* Make use of the video function to record yourself dancing and then check your timing to make sure your not dancing out of beat for your style.
* Measures the time or number of beats (if set up) between points to aid in move creation and choreography. So you do not have to count the beats, you simply measure it. This makes copying a dance move from a video easier as you can measure the beats and then create the move.
* Allows a percentage to be calculated based on your selections in a video file. This feature is useful if you have a new routine and would like to test what percentage of break away dancing is in the routine. A number of competitions will allow a routine to break away from the dance style for a small amount of time, but have a set percentage on how much is legal. Can also be used to test what percentage of your timing is out.

A Choreography section will be the next released function and will use your created dance moves as the building blocks for the choreography. Numerous other features are also planned for the future.

Whats new

    V 1.05
    * Major rewrite of the call count method changing from an AsyncTask to a HandlerThread implementation, resulting in better performance.
    * Seekbars for media will now dynamically update the beat bars as you slide the thumb instead of updating the beat bars after you have finished seeking.
    * Code optimizations when playing a media file.
