The free SwitzerlandMobility app is the perfect app for anybody who is out and about in Switzerland:

- maps of Switzerland from swisstopo up to a scale of 1:25,000 (the best)
- 32,000 km signposted non-motorized routes (national, regional and local)
- complete network of signposted hiking trails (60,000 km)
- 25,000 public transportation stops linked to the timetable of the Swiss Federal Railways (planning a tour with public transportation was never easier)
- information on 4,500 points of interest on the way, such as overnight accommodations, bicycle service stations, etc.
positioning system and compass function (you always know where you are)

With SwitzerlandMobility Plus you can additionally
- download and store swisstopo maps to be used in areas without network coverage (no more problems with dead zones)
- download and store tours you designed, including elevation profile, hiking time, distance and altitude (separately and easily)

Please note:

- The app requires network coverage (useable without network coverage with SwitzerlandMobility Plus).
- No tours can be entered with the app.
Constant use of the GPS may considerably reduce the length of battery life.

Requires a screen resolution of min. 480x320 pixels (HVGA) and multitouch. Unfortunately, the Samsung GT-S6102 or GT-S5570, among others, does not fulfill this requirement.

I ended up not really using it. Probably the signs are good enough

Love it - but I have to give this app 5 stars but it would be better yet if it would cache the maps for offline use. Cell reception is spotty in the mountains and this app can leave you lost. Needs to be backed up with AlpineQuest or something similar that does cache maps. Best used for planning.

Comprehensive coverage Great companion for walking and hiking in Switzerland. I did a four day tour in Wallis using this app as the main map. It would be helpful to have offline access to map data though, to avoid having to find mobile signal.

Max Max

Impossible to load the map, making the app difficult to use

Reto Gmür

Using up internal storage Considering uninstalling it as it uses up a lot of internal storage. Even when moved to SD or phone storage.

Jo Mi

Good The app it's quite good, but in the places where you actually need it usually there is no connection and therefore cannot download the maps. Please, make it possible to access the maps offline.

Burr Swisher

Great I use this all the time on hikes. Great app.

Piotr Wróbel

Add offline maps! It would be a really great app, if maps were downloadable. Internet access requirement makes it virtually useless in the mountains.

Julian Weaver

Fair to middling I've been looking forward toWorks quite well but only when connected which will eat your data allowance. . It would be a lot better if cached map tiles were available offline.

Ben Hoyt

Good idea but I don't have data when walking! This app needs to be able to access a locally saved map, I want to walk places without searching for good reception! The positives are: the app looks very nice and has great features so I look forward to using it on my walks and bike rides once I can save the map to the phone.

Total must for anyone hiking in Switzerland Very nice how detail changes according to zoom level. I.e. 50m altitude lines with 200m intervals between main ones vs. 10m lines and 100m between main ones in other views, etc.

Question ? Hello . Im using it as a plus user . I drew my own route... can i use it later when i reach my start point as a vigator for the rest of the route. ??

Pascal Gremaud

This app is great, especially when used conjointly with the web platform. You can create routes on the web, and then download them with the app. As you can also download parts of the maps for offline use, you can virtually never get lost (if you use your GPS), even if you don't have any mobile network available.

Ahmed Essam

Great app !! Wonderful.... i used it in my hiking trail . The blue dot change its place while im moving to show me where exactly im going to.... excellent app

How do I register with the site?

Michael Küffer

Very good but still a lot of potential The best Swiss map app IMO. But a lot of space to improve: - no drawing routes in App (veeery annoying) - very limited zoom - no navigation in routes - unintuitive UX
