“Sunrise is the first great calendar app for Android.” - The Verge
Sunrise is a free calendar made for Google Calendar, Exchange and iCloud. Sunrise also connects with all your favorite apps like Facebook, Evernote, Foursquare, TripIt, Todoist, Trello and more to make sure you’re always up to date with all the events happening in your life.
With millions of users around the world, Sunrise is changing the way you manage the places you have to be, the people you want to see and the things you need to do. Whether you’re planning your daily schedule or your next trip around the world, Sunrise makes it easy to keep track of everything in one beautifully designed calendar.
Sunrise also comes with Meet, the fastest way to schedule a one-to-one on the go. Meet is a keyboard that lets you select available time slots in your calendar without leaving the app you’re in and send them to anyone through a simple link. You’ll never schedule meetings any other way.
Sunrise automatically syncs between your phone, tablet and computer, so you can access your calendar from anywhere. It’s that easy.
Make the most out of your days. We’re here to help.
Want to chat? Email us at [email protected] or say hi on Twitter at @Sunrise.
Can you hear Clippy? He’s shouting and cheering. Eye-witnesses even saw him shake that tiny metallic body of his. Why the excitement? Well folks, Office 365 is now available in Sunrise!
All your events in one calendar, accessible from anywhere (even your desktop!). Isn’t that a good enough reason to celebrate? To get it set up, select “Add Account” from the Settings in Sunrise. You’ll be up and running in no time!
Bonus: we now also support outlook.com, hotmail.com and live.com accounts :)
Microsoft Corporation part of our Productivity and have average installs from 1000000 to 5000000. Last Update July 13, 2015. Google play rating is 84.329. Current verison is 4.2.0. Actual size 10.0 MB.
Monthly View is Still Terrible I'll use Meet once a week, maybe. I'll use a functioning monthly view multiple times daily, which this still lacks. Dropped a star. Not the only one asking for this in reviews. Every other calendar app has it, why not Sunrise?
Great, but not so great The app is much better than the desktop. However, the default Meet/Sunrise keyboard which would allow Meet to work does not stay as the default on my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (unsure who is responsible there) so Meet doesn't work at all. The desktop caldendar has to be reset each time I open it (Monday start day of the week etc) Have reverted back to Google Calendar on my mac but sticking with the app on my Samsung Update and fixes coming, surely??
Push notifications not working I love the design and the concept of this calendar. Find something else for the monthly view though, and it will be 5 stars.
Brilliantly Beautiful - technical trickiness This is a beautiful and super-easy to use calendar app. It has turned into my favourite to use despite... - The accompanying Mac app is real trouble. It sometimes can't sync putting it out of whack with my phone / schedule. Have to completely quit and restart the app if I want it all to get updated. - 'Meet' looks super cool! However, I use Swiftkey for Android and therefore can't access it as easily as advertised. Would need to go into settings and change my keyboard every time I wanted to use it - therefore more hassle than it's worth. - Why no 'Meet' for the Mac desktop app? I am more likely to be using my laptop / at work when scheduling meetings.
More items on Widget!!! Meet location options is bad I like Sunrise but the widget NEEDS a configuration setting to allow me to choose how many calendar items or days to show. Re: MEET: Pretty cool but the location feature is plain garbage. It only shows "frequent locations" that apparently were loaded from locations I had in meetings I set up in Sunrise calendar. I don't see a way to choose a location other than the several addresses I really care nothing about anymore. It doesn't even offer my "home" location that I have setup in Google.
It pisses me off so much that I had to change my phone dpi just to get the month view.
Need a calendar? Look no further. This app is great. It quickly synchronizes with my iPad (iCloud Calendar) and is very reliable. My favorite calendar app. However, I would welcome the ability to move events with a swipe of a finger and a 3-day view as default.
Needs more view options Love the integration with other apps, but sunrise needs a single day view, not just an agenda view.
Very good Would like to look at the monthly view and see my appointments there (make the day stand out) without having to see the bottom half
Meet sounds good but I have to change my keyboard settings to use it and change back afterwards... annoying.Think I'll leave it And there is no way to change the Widget settings.
Just the best!
Awesome and Poor Well done on a awesome calendar. Very poor that you can only go back a few months, really bad as your the only calendar I have come across that does this. No good when I'm checking what I was doing 4+ months ago....
Meet Keyboard Great app and great idea with Meet Keyboard. But on the Note 4 the Meet Keyboard is turned off whenever you choose the typing keyboard. Constantly have to go back into settings and choose Meet as the default.
Question about "Meet" I've activated the Sunrise keyboard in my phone's Language and Input Settings, but how do I open it from my keyboard when I'm typing? I can't figure it out.
Great concept but it isn't seeing that I am connected to an Exchange calendar. VERY frustrating. Would change rating if quick fix is made available. Running on Android 5.0.1Galaxy Note 4
There is no easy way to use this This does not work with my Dragon keyboard. I can not "just set up a meet" without going to sunrise preferences and creating through there. Fantastic idea which I can't use OR recommend.
Best calendar Works on all platforms and is available for the web to.
There is no 'To Do' feature. Unlike on the ios. And the month view still sucks. Would give this 5 stars if these issues are fixed.
New keyboard view pretty cool. It's so easy to change keyboards on lollipop, why not? Month view would be nice. And when i use the keyboard to set the time of a lunch, it is white text on white background..... Hopefully i can find that in settings.
Best Calendar I've used Integration for Google, Facebook is nice. Would like some more widget options (material design?)
I used every day I replace my stock calendar for sunrise. I love the fact of how it syncs with Facebook and how the interface is so easy to use. I wish the month view could provide some type of information
I've been very pleased with this calendar, using it for business purposes. I decided to finally come in and rate this app after "meet" integration. Very interesting and is a very logical next step for a calendar app.
The meet input method doesn't work at all. It crashes the app.
Magnificent Truly useful and practical.
Very good Integrates really well with lots of services, in fact I would probably use it exclusively if it had a proper month view on the mobile app.
Best calendar ever It has all the features you can imagine for a calendar ! ...
I love this calendar! I've been using Sunrise for several months and absolutely love it. I quickly find the information that I want/need while managing multiple calendars. I also love the Television & Sports support. Meet is also a nice feature. Try Sunrise for a week and you'll never use another calendar application.
Can't use Meet with SwiftKey keyboard. No Month view. No Single Day view. No To-do list. Can't plan more than a few months ahead. Or go back more than 3 months. Can't edit event colours. Can't change default notification sound.
Multiplatform is the word but without material design Something that i love is that i can use it in any environment and sync inmidiately. Clean design for phone but for tablets.. think the design needs more improvements. On the other hand, as personal request , i'd like to see some material design in android..hope come soon!
Pretty good Would love to see the widget look like the app, or at least give other options for its appearance. Please add an option of "Once" under "Repeat"
The best calendar app that I've used. The design is beatiful and the integration with apps is awesome, a must have for anyone needing a calendar app
Best calendar app Great design and functionality. Doesn't take any time at all to get used to.
Best Calendar App! Love scheduling my calendar with this. It just works as how you expect it to be.
Crashes after new update Crashes when meet keyboard enabled
Perfect, easy interface
Simply the best calendar app Really great app, equally good on android, iOS and OSX. I wish you guys can make a to-do app of yours. Also, please add support for Things to-do app on iOS and OS X. BTW, good move Microsoft on purchasing Sunrise. Surprising that Apple missed this one.
Good idea, not the best realization. The app misses day view (with a red timeline, Google Calendar-style). Also, normal month view would be very desirable. The app could also show Google Tasks with no due date (as well as the Evernote reminders with no due date).
Thank you for Todoist integration! There are integrations with Google, Todoist, Evernote, GitHub, Trello and others. Good job!
5 star app Thx for best sports calendar! PS. Add russian language please.
I can't create widget on my homescreen! It's absent in widget list!!! What I'm doing wrong?
I like the look of the app but am driven nuts by the "daily reminders" for things on my work calendar. I don't need to know when other people in the company are traveling. No way to turn it off.
Gets Better with Every Update This app is hands down the best calendar app I've ever used. It integrates with many services making it ideal for me to use as my work and personal calendar. I love that it even works on my desktop as a Chrome app.
No exchange directory integration Pretty useless as an Exchange client since it doesn't support directory integration, meaning you can't find your work contacts and add them to meetings. Oh and you can't add your rooms either for that same reason! Or look up people's availability. This hasn't changed in 6 months, since the first time I tried it. Delete again
Really the best! Still some minor delayed issues in viewing my exchange calendar but overall the best android calendar available. Do love it!
Good app but I hate it The app does it's job, but there's no option to turn off alerts/notifications. I get multiple alerts (3-5 a day), for the same event or holiday, and it sometimes wakes me up because it alerts me at 5am. Hate this thing
Color Theme "Color Theme - We do not offer any custom theme options for the Sunrise app. We believe that everyone should have the same great experience and having only one color option helps us achieve that goal. We also strive to maintain a common brand across all of our supported platforms." <-----Very unfortunate and I disagree with this train of thought. The functionality of the app is good. A dark theme is seriously needed with the light background being harsh on the eyes, especially at night.
Cannot change account colors I have several calendars that I have to manage and have a color code so that I know which calendar an event is linked to. With Sunrise I cannot select colors for an account, I can only accept the default color. Sticking with my current calendar solution. Also, my Gmail calendar is not showing up.
It's OK It looks gorgeous! But please, I can't have a calendar app that doesn't alert me properly on the lock screen. Please add a snooze button for alerts!
It's great, but.. .. The UI could be improved, it just feels weird on my phone. Great in Chrome though.
Need a full calendar widget (android) Being a really visual invidual I would like to see this app not only have a weekly widget but a full calendar widget so I can see my whole month schedule on my main window rather than taking one extra step to tap the weekly tab to open up the full calendar. Please do this!
Lumia? Thought this would bridge the gap between my android and lumia, owned by Microsoft yet "no plans to support windows phone" in the help topics page, dreadful...
Great It runs Google Calendar close and even surpasses it in a few areas. I haven't decided which one will make the cut as my default but Sunrise seems to be edging it at the moment.
Close to Perfect; NEEDS MONTHLY VIEW!!! Would be perfect if it had a monthly view widget. Totally puzzled as to why it was left out. Also TV listings are useless if you can't sort between reruns and new episodes. I like following sports teams but it needs an option to follow all playoff games regardless of team.
Good but needs longer alerts & more Useless for birthdays as you can't set an alert more than 2 days ahead. That's really not enough time to buy, wrap, write & post cards & presents. Then the view is confusing & doesn't appear to give any indication of days with events already. But lots of good features too. Also sometimes you need to plan more than a year ahead. & search would be great too!
Superb app... But am not getting b.day details of Facebook even after linked the account. Help me here
Crashes fairly often Randomly. Still usable, and the app itself is great! I will rate 5 stars when it stops crashing so much, though!
Good but missing some things This is a great looking app and is much more useful with meet and 3rd party calendar support. However I would love a search button or option and 5-day week view.
Tight calendar app Very happy with what I have seen so far. Hard to get excited about a calendar app, but this has to be the best I have seen so far
I really love this app. It's visually appealing and there are fun little icons that it displays (sometimes depending on your input). The only thing I wish for is to be able to assign different colors to different calendar entries as categorization. Well, and more icons of course. I jumped onto using the tv reminders but it's unusable as it doesn't make a difference between new episodes and reruns. You can imagine how many alerts I started receiving for the Big Bang Theory...
Clean app Would be great if there was the option to select user defined colors for events similar to the option in Google calendar
Almost perfect Has a lot of awesome features, but it needs a month view. According to the website, they decided a "month view would be too crowded and unusable on the small screen" (for Android phones and iPhones, they have it for tablets). How is it that other apps have month views in the app and widgets, and they work just fine? Other improvements/features could be added here and there, but not having a month view is what really sticks out for me.
Was gud but now its not at all syncing facebook events If any one can help why sunrise not not showing fb events bdays pls do share....coz either microsoft people dont know or they simply dont care....idiots
Meet in Swiftkey Hi, i love Sunrise but still can't find how to use Meet with SwiftKey. Please help on this. Thanks
Nice functions and add-ons but plain and ugly I love the additional features like sports events and things. But they're no getting around who plain, busy and ugly the main screen is. And it really really needs an agenda view. It's not enough to drag me away from Google Calendar I'm afraid.
Needs monthly view! This would be a 5 star app for me if it had a monthly view feature. Until it does, I won't use it. I'd even pay a small fee for the feature... The free regularly installed one on my Note 3 has a monthly view so that is what I'll use.
Not worth it Tried this, doesn't recognize my exchange account, no hotmail syncing ... Oh MS what have you bought. Crap
Almost Perfect Sunrise is almost perfect but I believe it does need a dark mode option and a monthly view so you can see how the entire month lays out. Also the ability to customize the colors of events needs to be added. I don't want everything on my calendar to be the same color. Add those things and definitely 5 stars hands down.
Lousy Wants social info to start. Wouldn't let me use my google or ms account to keep my info away from my contacts.
Best Calendar But needs themes. Stop catering to Iphone people...Android users like customization
Best calendar app I use sunrise on my iPad, my android, my windows, my linux, everywhere. I love the cross platform support. Beautiful, simple, and powerful. Great app!
Have a new problem that just cropped up. It turns every new event into an all day event, removes location and reminder
AlMoST PeRFecT Solid app, well built and easy to navigate. I like how when you type key words in your event it shows a symbolic icon, of your event, on the left. The widget is transparent and very similar to google calendar, which I feel is inferior to this app.
Great! Best app for syncing outlook calendar. So many other great features too. I'll never need another calendar, it does everything and reliably.
No outlook Why there's still no support for outlook calendar? Otherwise great app.
Doesn't work Resets every event to only one hour long every time - doesn't let me set events to any other time length
Brilliant Calendar! Looks amazing, easy to use and the meeting arranger is genius! Please make it even better with drag and drop paste/copy/move option. ?
The best Android calendar app on the market. THIS HAS BEEN FIXED, BACK TO A 5 STAR APP. I have been using Sunrise for a long time now, and it has always been a 5 star app to me, but one of their current updates pulled Office 365 Exchange support. Unfortunately, this makes Sunrise useless to me. Had to switch back to Google's built-in calender.
Nothing special 1. It doesn't really do anything "different" that my other calendar already does. 2. No month view...........seriously.
Useful and Reliable Integrates with google calendar and I also like the features where you can track different events and set-up alert easily.
All day events? Always? As of the latest update, if I create an event with start and end times, as soon as I save the event, it will show up as an all day event no matter how many times I correct it in edit mode... Please fix :)
Pretty good I find it helpful to have my calendars for school alongside personal events. But kind of annoyed that one if my current favorite TV shows, Jane the Virgin, isn't listed under the shows for the CW network?
Surprisingly Good Calendar I was honestly surprised how clean and well laid out this calendar app was. I find myself using it more and more. My go to is still Android stock because of the instant integration of new events and works with Inbox. Kudos, Microsoft.
Was a great app till MS took over Welp Microsoft is shutting down this app for thier outlook POS. I won't be switching and I won't be uninstalling this app either. Thanks for ruining another good part of my life MS. You never fail in that regard.
Thank you for going away with Microsoft! Seriously, it was one of your biggest mistakes to go away with Microsoft! I'm really very surprised how Microsoft killed such a wonderful app to rebuild its crap Outlook app. Truly disgusting!
No Integration with Outlook app I have to add the same account twice, which is not always possible due to Exchange server restrictions. C'mon people! You have the know-how, why always so poor integration?
Event Creation and hence forth Any event created or any task added via 'Wonderlist' is automatically made into a full day event! As always colour coding of events is missing. For Phones with bigger screens, the '+' button should be on the bottom for reachability. And there must and should be an option to view the complete days worth of schedule instead of the ticker pointing it out at 'afternoon' or 'evening' (an option in the settings tab). These are major reasons for me to stick on to a calendar and that is why the 1★
Finally devs have heard me and made the color of the date darker in the month view Normally MS buys an app and makes it shittier than ever before. But this app has the highest number of app integration, making it way better than the google's stock calender. Magnifico!!!!!
Done. M$ killed it. Microsoft announced that there will be no more updates for this app. It is being rolled into Outlook, which for me means that it is time to find another calendar app. It was good while it lasted...
Needs WIDGETS and UI customization options I love all the integrations in Sunrise, but I want to be able to customize my views and have an off-black dark mode. The app also desperately needs widgets - a variety of them. Any plans? (5 stars when they become available)
Not bad How can you change the colour scheme? I've gone into settings but to no avail. Can anyone help?
Microsoft is killing this app I really like Sunrise, and have been using it exclusively for a long time. However, Microsoft bought it, which was fine. They even made some nice changes. But they have just announced they are killing it and rolling it into Outlook. My advice, don't download this now. It will just make it harder to lose it!
1. There is bug in automatic refresh. I am not sure if its working. Because i added a task in google and it didn't reflect on calendar. 2. Facebook birthday calendar sync is not working.
Good App, but I would really like a way to repeat events every other week. The only options seem to be daily, weekly, monthly, yearly. Also a way to copy events easily that are more irregular but usually have the same title and times.
Functionally poor There are a couple issues I found with this. 1. Always opens the calendar three months prior. Example, if this is Jan, sunrise opens Oct month at startup 2. Drained my battery. Checking the battery usage indicated sunrise consumed 11% battery over 4 hours. I only installed the app and set it up.
Excellent app!! Was the best calendar app until MS took over...! If MS can't build good apps, at least they shouldn't be ruining them. I wish Sunrise was bought by some other company like Google!
Useful Perhaps Sunrise maybe useful if one of the other connected apps need a calendar. Until then by itself the app isn't useful to end-users of remote two-way sync. In fact look at the remote sync options. 10-28-2015
Force closing and glitching The app won't let me use it because of continuous force closing and it will not let me deactivate it. It also has an issue with creating hundreds of calendar posts and being bogged down. The app was really good before Microsoft acquired it and now I may have to reset my phone to fix.
Rarely appears in multi task app list By not appearing in the task manager list, sunrise becomes difficult to call upon. Don't really want to go back home, hunt for it each time I need it. Crazy. It's the only app I have that does that.
Excellent! This calendar app does everything in its power to do, with one exception as of April 2015 Facebook has stopped synchronization with all outside calendar apps. No Birthdays....No events what-so-ever. So don't blame anyone else for this fiasco but FACEBOOK !!!!!!!
Great Cal, Bad O 365 connection I like this calendar a lot but, given that it is now owned and maintained by Microsoft, it will not maintain a connection to my Office 365 account. I have to reconnect it pretty much every day on all my devices. Also, I'm not sure why it connects to Wunderlist—even with lists set up to show as a calendar, they don't. Why not have the Widget show the day's appointments AND one's To-Do List?
Can't show Birthdays Yes, it's under visible calendar but I can't see any of my friend's birthdays from FB. What's the point of putting an option to see them if you can't even see them in the first place?
LG G3 ISSUE I want to give this a better rating. Ok, so I've installed, uninstalled and reinstalled. Still a no go. I get as far as linking my outlook account and just will not go any further. #(
Just what I needed and more. Personal calendar. Work calendar. Facebook events/invites integration. My favorite team's schedule. Weather.Shows. etc. I'm not even using all the features and this easily takes the #1 spot compared to all other calendars I've used. and judging by previous reviews, there was a problem with Facebook for a short while? Well, it was fixed by the time I downloaded this so that shows me its well supported too, a definite plus.
Used to love it, now it eats my appointments Big trouble syncing with outlook ever since the Microsoft buy out. I'd laugh at the irony, but I'm too busy scrambling trying to find out where my missing doctor's appointment is supposed to be. I now use (and love) cal.
Form over function There's no month view for phones (evidently because it doesn't look nice), meaning I have to scroll to a given day to see if I have plans. Irritating if I'm just trying to find an open day. Even just just giving the option to highlight or put a small dot by dates that have events on them would make this much more convenient. As it is, I still need to keep Google Calendar handy in case I want to see my month at a glance.
FB Birthdays not syncing Although I heard a lot of positive reviews, I'm facing syncing issues. I tried to sync FB birthdays multiple times, its still not working.
Love it still despite.. So I am in love with this calender but had to delete because every event would show up at least 50 x no matter how much I deleted it. So I hope this changes
Great app & love the integration of other apps. Worth 5 stars if custom colour selection for calendars is added. My Exchange calendar is red, same colour as my Wunderlist tasks, which can be confusing when i have many tasks & appointments on a day...
Cannot view birthdays anymore I cannot see any Facebook birthdays even though the option is to have them visible will be 5 stars when fixed
Notifications can't be turned off, nor sound changed After looking around, even disabling all calendars, I still get notifications, and there seems no way to change notification sound...
Found a bug When adding to calendar from another app you cannot save immediately. You must delete at least one character of the name of the event and then you can save. I use this often and it's frustrating to have to do every time. Please fix this. It rarely crashes and is otherwise a great app.
Been using for a while and love it. The little icons to denote an event are very handy (more variety and words to activate them would be great.) The views and layout are much nicer than most other calender apps and the services it integrates with like Wunderlist work well too. The only small issue is the location doesn't always work, have to open up Google Calander to add that. Otherwise it has now become my default Calander app.
Ok Where's the 'check' or 'dismiss' button when completing a task or event? A bit more customization and then I will rate 5 stars.
Widgets for the home screen Love the design and functionality but really needs mode versatile widgets! I'd also love week view in landscape mode. Also would be amazing to be able to attach emails, pics or docs to events. Hope you can sort this soon.
Crap UI for phone It's stupid that you split gui and make it more cluttered on the phones when the screen's smaller. Also, timeline view is only useful for few people with over 5 appointments every day. Please make month view available for phones and on widget.
While I like to compliment on Sunrise - your support and staff are the worst! Took more than 24 hours to respond to simple question like ' How to uninstall Meet Keyboard' and no FAQs or help about this anywhere! Good to install and use - but dont depend on anyone alive to help you out with anything else
Not all events show up on front page widget Only one or two recent events show up on my widget even though I adjusted my settings to include other calendars as well as my Wunderlist lists. Bug?
Annoying glitch... I love this app and have used it for years. But recently anytime there is a holiday it is displayed on my calendar multiple times (15+) and there seems to be no way to delete them. Once this is resolved I will happily bring my review back to 5 stars. Until then, I am edging closer to finding a different calendar app... *Edit* I just received 46 notifications for Alberta Family Day, which woke me up.
Beautiful, clean, easy to use First, this app is a perfect replacement for the stock calendar app. I would like to see a few things implemented though: the ability to change the event icons (for example, the app automatically changes events with the word 'school' or 'lecture' to the grad cap, but not 'tutorial'); also when tapping the default 15-minute alert and selecting a different length, it should replace that alert instead of adding a new one, and new ones should be added with the add alert button, or else it is just redundant
Sunset on Sunrise? This is a beautiful app, but when I emailed support with a minor suggestion, I received a response that sounded like Sunrise development was being discontinued since being acquired by Microsoft. That's too bad, because I liked it better than Google Calendar for everything but its appointment search.
Not enough Nice interface. But some of the recurring events that I have created via regular Outlook client of my Office365 account before are not displayed. I have disconnected and reconnected accounts but couldn't succeed. Strangely enough, you can display all items through the Outlook app. So I needed to uninstall this app totally and continue with Outlook app.
Watch Notifications are A little Ugly This is a great app, but it looks like very little effort was put into the Android wear app. Improving this would be a very nice feature.
Great but 2 issues Why do new calendar items created with Sunrise show up as UTC rather than my own time zone in Outlook? I should be able to set my time zone in preferences. Also when an update installs I lose my default calendar preference. Please update this.
Been using for a while and love it. The little icons to denote an event are very handy (more variety and words to activate them would be great.) The views and layout are much nicer than most other calender apps and the services it integrates with such as Wunderlist work well too. The only small issue is the location doesn't always work, have to open up Google Calander to add that. Otherwise it has now become my default Calander app.
