Almost Perfect I have always loved skritter.I just got back into using it BECAUSE I found out they got an app. Its convenient and works like site but some of the words don't have audio. So I have to click to show the kanji and then how will I know if I actually knew how to draw it. Over I love skritter it is the best tool for writing Japanese.

Hamish Rae

Does not work. Pressing the 'study' button informs you that there are no words to study (even though there are) so I go okay, add 10 words. Blank screen, go back. Click 'study' again, it tells me I don't have any words to study. But online, the 10 words I added were indeed successfully added. Please fix this. This service is not worth $100+/year.

Sub fees One star because you say free but there are sub fees

Jason Cameron

One of the best flash cards apps for learning kanji. It's one of the best I've tried. The diacritical marks on kana can be a bit finicky though.

Scott Hilton

Best way to learn kanji on a phone This is the only app that will help you learn to write kanji, which is the hardest thing about learning kanji. I teach Japanese, and my students have had a lot of success with skritter.

Indy Garner

Skritter This app has been invaluable in revising and learning my characters

Georgia E

Finally on Android Its a great app! I've been waiting for it to come out on android and couldn't be happier with the app. Easy to use, just like the computer program. Just wish we could view the lists more in depth.

Christopher Ivan

Way over-priced, considering it's just another vocab and character app $15/month subscription, no one time fee? That's crazy! Anything I can do on this app, I can do with ankidroid's drawing board function. It's nice having everything integrated into one app (audio, drawing characters, vocab), but for free and a little more effort on my part (a mix of ankidroid decks, character drawing apps like tegaki kanji) I can get all that and more--grammar, audio, characters, sentence reading, etc. Bring it down to like $2-3 a month, or make it a flat fee like a reasonable person. Otherwise, I don't think your business model will work.

Kelsey Knechtel

Annoyed I don't appreciate that it makes you sign up your email and neglects to mention you'll need to start paying after a seven day trial. I would have created the account on a different day so I could prioritize learning. I might have even payed for an account but that's bullshit Scritter.

Budweiser Garcia

Please PLEASE i will pay for this if you can add the japanese radicals to this, what strokes, their meanings and the names and pronounciation of the radicals themselves. Please i neeed it i will pay for this

Xobb Felane

It's broken. Couldn't use it at all. I suggest not purchasing a subscription until it works.

Matt Mendoza

Great app, but the required subscription is too expensive. I feel like you should offer a free version and a premium version with more features, rather than locking all functionality after the free trail. Uninstalling.

Richard Pinner

Very expensive and clunky system for adding words, plus it keeps hammering me with words I know already... not easy to customise lists. I just want to add JLPT N3 kanji, the stuff I need to learn. I'm good with computers (ran an elearning consultancy) and I found the UI very clunky. For this money I'd expect a smoother experience. Going back to paper.

andrew woodman

Good app but unrealistic pricing It's an OK app but not worth usd14.99 a month, its a saturated market and I would be curious to know how many subscribers are coming in at this price point. It's okay, but I won't pay that price. Something like this is more suitable to a one off payment not subscription.

Bartek Wojcik

Stop throwing learned words at me! Please for crying out loud, spaced repetition is intended to MINIMIZE unnecessary item reviews. List management is rubbish, why can't I remove my old empty lists? Regardless still the best there is for Kanji writing retention, though too expensive for my liking.

Kerry Adams

I've been using Skritter for years and it has helped me to learn 1000s of Kanji. I highly recommend it to anyone who's serious about learning Japanese

Beau Brooks

Best way to study Been using skritter for years now and now that we've got mobile support for japanese kanji I can study wherever I go.

David R Munson

The best! I've used just about every language-related app in studying Japanese, and for written language, Skritter is far and away the best I've used. I just renewed my six-month subscription for the third or fourth time and I'm glad to pay the price. Highly recommended.

Mr Dubois

I can see the benefit but without a more structured and clear usage of SRS and a list system that relies on users to input it seems a bit rich for my taste. A more conscientious learning tool would use the various text books as inspiration and create it's own sequence of learning.

Joshua Johnson

Streamlines the kanji learning process! I don't use Skritter for vocabulary, so I can't comment on that, but I do use it for learning kanji, and it's fantastic! I can use it efficiently wherever I am (preferably at home with a tablet)! It makes the learning process so much faster for me; nothing obstructs my progress and everything is made incredibly easy for me. Since kanji and vocabulary are separate, I do wish they had a separate cheaper tier for only kanji, but I can't complain because doing kanji in Skritter is relatively painless!

Blair Kerbo

It won't tell me any definitions I can only see this working for studying if you have at least basic knowledge. Im brand new to Japanese and I don't know if it's me or the app, but it hasn't really helped me learn anything to start with. HELP

Chris Jaech

Best kanji learning option Wish it had a dictionary too though. But there are other apps that do that, and this works brilliantly for just learning the kanji.

Darren Demerais

Great app for learning kanji Great for getting stroke order down and learning a lot of kanji.

Lucia - Sasuke

The best Japanese vocabulary and writing app! Worth every penny! It not only shows you how to write in Japanese , but teaches you the stroke order too! I am studying to be a translator and I highly recommend this app to anyone with a passion for the Japanese language!

Maisy Hatchard

Wonderful app I really love it, great way to study and I feel like I have made huge progress in just a few days. I would give 5 but for the cost per month I would expect less bugs.

Gregorio Vázquez

Good stuff The best subscription Chinese writing app out there.

Erin H

Broken Can't get it to work properly, and on top of that they want you to pay $15 a month or $100 a year to keep using it, not just a one-time purchase?? Ridiculous.

Veronika Smělá

Effective learning Now i dont mind waiting for a bus or at cashiers - waiting well invested in learning!!!

Aleksandr Streltsov

Works without problems (Highscreen zera) But you have a problem: 60mb app with no option to move it on sd card.

Salih Nur ÇINAR

Very Useful but Useless because of money It was good until I realized it has a subscription with lots of money. So I uninstalled it.

Jordi Santiago Provencio

Love it It's amazing, I can study more characters from time to time. There's some features that I miss from the web version like community mnemonics or dictionary searches, but is good enough.

Paris Williams

Not worth it Just not worth the subscription fees. At all. Tried this app on my grandmothers hudl and now that I have a new phone, I can't download the 146MB app as it will take up ALL of my remaining space. When you consider that you can get all of the functionality of this app by downloading Memrise and Obenkyo, both of which are free forever, payment for extra features optional, paying for this app just isn't worth it. Go download Obenkyo and Memrise for free, AND you'll get less bugs.

JB Bongrand

Seemed nice, but really not worth the price !! Especially since it contains only english translation and english books... You can find other great solutions for a lot cheaper. Also not so good interface and no true SRS system for the kanji you already learned.

Диана Свешникова

Help please!! What does it mean "unknown input error" ? I can't sign up. No strange symbols so where is the problem? Help pls. I need this app and books. Let me register...

Jathon Thompson

Love it! The best resource I've found to learn kanji. Practice writing without using paper! It's also great for learning vocabulary compounds.

Charles Macanka

Skritter is a fantastic service that I have used for years to help learn Japanese. I used to use their web app to study, but now mostly use the iOS app on an ancient iPod Touch. This Android app is great because it allows writing kana, as well as kanji; the iOS app does not support kana. Unfortunately, though, the Android app is missing some very important features that are present on every other platform I've used Skritter on, such as indicating how due/overdue an item is and when it was last studied, and anything but the most basic interactions with vocabulary lists. I still use Skritter every day, and I can't wait to be able to retire my iPod Touch (only used for Skritter anymore) and only need this Android app for practice once it has been improved enough.

Cenitoria Melton

Amazing I was hesitant to try this app due to the monthly subscription fee, but I can say that it is absolutely worth every dime. I've been studying every day and I have learned a lot. I've also been able to recognize and break bad habits that I had developed during my studies.

class of 2016 :D

?????? I moved it up a star

Android Sktitter Have been waiting for them to update this for over a year. Still does not show all the information on the info tab.
