Data security and authorisations
Why does SBB Mobile require authorisations?
To use the "take me home" function and display the stops in the vicinity of the current location, the GPS function must be active.
To transmit timetable and ticket request enquiries.
So that you import passengers travelling with you from the address book when you purchase tickets and can select contact addresses as destinations for timetable enquiries.
Calendar and e-mail.
To import timetable information into the calendar, SBB Mobile Business requires writing and reading rights.
For the offline functions such as lists of stops, connections (history and favourites) and purchasing tickets.
Deactivate standby mode.
Prevents the smartphone screen being turned off and the device being put on standby before you have received a push notification.
Control vibration alarm.
So that the device can vibrate when a push notification comes in.
Android camera hardware control elements.
To be able to use the integrated QR reader.
The update fixes various bugs.
Schweizerische Bundesbahnen SBB part of our Transportation and have average installs from 1000000 to 5000000. Last Update Sept. 21, 2016. Google play rating is 80.5227. Current verison is 184.108.40.206. Actual size 7.3 MB.
Generally good and useful but 1) The User Interface keeps changing (screen gestures etc.) 2) There is sometimes a mismatch between a route suggested in the apps's timetable and the route specified on the ticket, purchased through the app, leading the user to wonder whether (s)he could face a fine for having the wrong ticket. Eg. Thun --> Ittigen, Pulverstutz (3) The app does not store the name/date of birth of frequent travel companions (4) When purchasing a ticket for multiple passengers, the ticket type selection screen does not indicate which passenger is being referred to.
Useful but UI is not great UI do not follow android standards. Specifically back button has strange behavior.
Useful app but poor UI Poor UI. Does not use the standard drawer style, nonstandard notification (colored icon, spacing...). Also a bit laggy. Would be nice if updated to material design theme and icons.
Useful, but buggy The most annoying bug: after I bought a couple of tickets (which aren't even valid anymore) the bought tickets popup shows up every now and then interrupting searching for connections or buying tickets.
Route Information View Guys, please fix this the station name labels in the route info view. The labels are cut off and only show the first couple characters. So for instance Wettingen, Winkelried and similar just becomes "Wettingen,..." and there is no way to tap or otherwise show the rest of the name. THANKS.
Pretty handy There may be some gripes and grumbles but works swiftly to find routes and times including via points. Pretty impressive (especially in comparison with UK transport! )
Material design Beautiful app and nice work ! Just one thing, no material design isn't serious.
Could be improved It's very useful but there is some bugs. Notifications behave very strangely sometimes, 2 times I got a notification that my train was cancelled and when I open the app there is nothing and the train was not cancelled and not delayed.
Works perfect. But doesn't stick to the standard design rules of Android
Ticketing error I'm trying to use this to buy mobile tickets from ZVV app link. Each time I add a second passenger it quotes half price fare, no matter what date of birth I enter. Useless for buying tickets for me.
very buggy, timetable was a lot more stable. Cache is freaking out...
SBB It doesn't have options for print out or save as to pdf file or others files please update it is gonna be useful ...
The best! Fast, good interface, many features which work just fine!
Please update the notifications to support android 5.0
The app Its vry gud and fast too
Awesome works like a charm
very accurate and useful app? love this app !! online live train timetable and very accurate to the mins..Awesome?
Really usefully! I love to take my ticket really easily using the application!
Very useful app
Very nice and perfect app for travelling help.
It's great so it is
Great App... Very good!!
Crashes with nexus 5 and android5 Impossible to buy any tickets. Keeps changing to bought tickets everytime you try to buya new one!
Material Design Useful, but not yet updated to the material design guidelines for android apps.
Pleasantly surprised It works really well for what it does, I love the widget it installs as it will use GPS and find the nearest bus stops and arrival times as well which is incredibly awesome especially when in unfamiliar territory.
Does the job It's slow and buggy but there's a timetable and you can buy tickets straight from the app. Not great but still recommended for frequent train users on Switzerland.
CHRIS G Great app, fantastic for planning your day out.
It's typically swiss. They're updating the app just twice a year. Absolutely not acceptable... not just for me, for every user. There are a lot of great services on this platform to profit. But noooo, the "engstirnige" SBB isn't able to provide new features... (I talk about tickets in Google Now or on Android wear devices.)
Perfect Viva Switzerland!) from Russia with love!)
Offline? Offline/cached schedule please!
Eg. Thun --> Ittigen, Pulverstutz (3) The app does not store the name/date of birth of frequent travel companions (4) When purchasing a ticket for multiple passengers, the ticket type selection screen does not indicate which passenger is being referred to.(5) On an Samsung Android device, selecting a station with a partial name during a ticket purchase is difficult because the onscreen keyboard blocks most of the screen and the remainder (showing a few of the stations) is not scrollable.
Actually not up to date! Not synchronised with the actual timetable! I guess its a server problem cause i was used to trust sbb app
Using it every day, missing wear support It's a reliable app, but android wear support would add so much more usefulness to it. Please condider adding it.
Wrong information Gives wrong information. Not synchronised with the actual timetable
Useful Design is rather non-standard. Smallish touch areas. Contains unrelated functions such as emergency call and qr scan. Otherwise good.
Nice Does what it say without any major bugs, I rly enjoy it.
Poor UI not interested in improvements, many suggestions were not considered for ages
Full of bugs - constanty crashing
Simply Awesome Super convenient and very useful.
Excellent, flexible, and authoritative, with a couple exceptions 1. Selecting transportation mode filters is very very clunky. For example, specifying ship-only requires a dozen taps. 2. Having named transportation filter groups would ease (1), eg being able to pre-set "ship-only" or "anthing but bus". 3. The app should have a query mode that shows the schedule of everything going through a station, eg what trams and buses are going through Zurich Enge in the next 30 min.
Please allow to choose the interface language manually. Even though I'm Swiss and have my whole phone set to English I prefer apps and sites from German speaking providers in German since translations are often just ridiculous! And why are there only supersaver fares available for owners of the half-fare travelcard in the mobile app, where as I get supersaver tickets for the same connection without Halbtax Abo on the full site?! And how about showing tickets in the app that have been purchased on the sbb web site with the same login... what's the refresh ticket option in the app meant else for then?
App ok Service still shit App sometimes just stops and one has to reopen it again. Otherwise quite helpful (the only good thing about sbb).
Piece of crap It's as bad as the ticket machines in the stations. I just hate it.
Please fix all those bugs The most annoying one is the one showing your ticket even when you didn't ask for it. And it keeps showing it, up to the point is very difficult to do something else. Please fix it
No booking of international tickets possible.
Must-have in Switzerland
Favorites get invalidated Would be better if you could save passwords and favuorite certain stretches of travel. It is too much typing required to purchase tickets. Favorites should not be invalidated all the time, but get updated if needed.
Does not accept valid promo codes Comes back with "please enter only numbers and letters". I'm doing that!
Not as reliable as ios app Still getting the 'not latest version' error. This has also led to me paying twice for the same ticket. ios app was a lot more stable. Not very impressed
not too bad in general, but missing very important features. a) cannot store default set of other people with all their data, needed for getting tickets for a family all the time b) favorites do not show start / end but only the first two zone numbers, so for ZVV there is no way to distinguish c) no android wear support to show the ticket on the watch (and not have to take out the phone all the time)
Says it needs to update before I can buy tickets again but I have the latest...... also Contact import is broken
Clearing cache fixed "you do not have the latest version" error when trying to buy ticket. Reinstall did not help.
Unreliable One of the most unreliable apps ever. Non responsive. Hangs on loading. Sometimes need to disable wifi for it to work. Eifach en scheiss
Excellent app for Switzerland Very nice and I appreciate it.
My wish It might be more option .
It is quite good app but some services aren't working properly. Two more stars when everything will be swiss perfect.
Asking for update before purchasing ticket
Works realy good!!!
Please fix NEW BUGS I have spotted a lot of new bugs lately that really hinders the user experience. 1) if you have bought some tickets then the screen with the QR code keeps popping in in the middle of a searh or other manipulation ruining what you are currently doing 2) if you wait on the search screen before buying your ticket it triggers an error and you have to hit the back button 3 times and do the search all over again. Even if it the train you wanted still hasn't departed yet. (Full expert review available on demand ;)
approximate ergonomics (can be improved). No sync with web app.... the tickets purchased using the web interface cannot be visualized or downloaded as e-ticket.
Timetable bugs When I try to pull up a trip's timetable, 9 times out of 10, it pulls up my recently purchased tickets instead. Makes it very hard and annoying to look up train schedule. Uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail. Please fix
What is happening? Recently, the app always says that there are no connections, every time I look for a trip, even though I can see them on my computer. What is wrong??
SBB-CFF Purchasing your tickets online. So cool!
Does not show ships The app no longer shows ships, even when only "ships" is selected as mode of transport. Something has gone wrong.
Poorly developed app, lots of problems The app crashes constantly; says there are no trains between Geneva and Leuk; and seems to have incorrect train times. Rubbish!! SBB should be able to hire competent app developers!
Excellent Application With lot of very usefull information
Doesn't find connections The app fails at its task and doesn't find connections at all. Have to use the website...
Can't login anymore Something doesn't work when trying to login, and any attempt to get a new password won't work. Annoying since I can no longer buy tickets via the app, which was an incredibly useful option...
excellent app! I use it all the to buy tickets. Love the supersaver option
Still too many bugs Good to check for train schedule but avoid booking tickets through this app! still too many bugs to fix and this app is not according to the standards of the SBB/CFF
Still some work to be done Buying does work 'somehow' due to discrepancy in the data models used. I wouldn't upgrade at the moment as the app is not compatible to the server architecture yet. As for schedule information it's o-kay not more. Design 'not bad'. Ergonomically somewhat crude.
Excellent app Keeps getting better, now i never have to visit a ticket machine again. The most convenient way of buying tickets!
Bugs Unable to connect to server many times ; password not recognized ; physical ticket machines don't recognize UBS standard card ... "hell" of a service !!
You can count on it.. Best available app to plan your travel through public transport in Swiss.
...if I had the chance to buy online ... You can't buy anything that you will need at night to ride the trains... means you need "cash" - which sucks... NEVER VO WITHOUT CASH!
Good so find trains, but if you want to buy, always error. Useless
Update available? Keeps claiming that an update is available although there seems to be no newer version in the app store. I therefore receive annoying notifications all the time.
Must have for tourists Very accurate and precise information. Must have for tourists.
Very good app Ease of use.
Excellent Must for every Switzerland travellers
The benchmark for all apps.
SBB deceloper What are you doing ??? You should improve about SBB design you should bring a new style It doesn't have options for print out or save as to pdf file or others files please update it is gonna be useful ...
Supersaver return ticket Why SBB don't simply copy the airlines? Really! Who on Earth wants to get to the last screen to know the ticket price? Besides, Why can't I select Supersaver RETURN ticket since the beginning?! I have to make two transactions! Does it sound logic to anybody?
This is the Public Transportation app which every Swiss commuter uses and adores. It works extremely well, except, year after year, release after release, you ask it to find trains for you, and it *often* gets stuck on "Loading..." It happens on both the Android and iPhone app. Sometimes aborting the search and retrying helps, usually it doesn't. Why can't they move their web services to the cloud, and allocate enough services to cover demand ?! Update: since downloading the latest Android version, I now *regularly* get a "No connections found" error, when searching for routes between main train stations. Oh, but if I do the same trip using the new "SBB Mobile Preview" Android app, it works fine. This app is now officially dead to me. Hopeless.
Unable to register Looks great. Timetables seem to be correct and even describes local disruptions. BUT to buy tickets you have to register and the email field does not recognise valid email addresses so no registration and no ticket.
Slow, terrible, awful Since the latest update timetable search is slower than ever, as others stated with previous versions, it takes at least several minutes for one connection! My phone informs me it takes a long time before/until the actual data transfer starts, which makes no sense to me. Please fix immediately before people prefer paper because of your bad support!
Doesn't Connect! Systematically won't connect to the Internet. Please fix this!
Awful experience Your timetables are incorrect. Require manual update. Purchasing a ticket is ridiculously long and there's a bug that will always show you your old ticket the next day when you try to do the same search, the screen is super invasive and appears randomly. The only way to fix it is to clear all fields and do the same search again.
Excellent, Very Useful This app helped us a lot through out our Swiss travel. Made our holidays memorable. Accurate by the minute. Must have while traveling in Switzerland.
Excellent app Since the last update can often wait 5 minutes to purchase a ticket, and at peak times over 10 minutes. Come on SBB put in the infrastructure to cope with your customers!
Smooth as you like Gives me timetable/connection info quickly... and then I can immediately purchase a ticket in the app.
SBB developer What are you doing ??? You should improve about SBB design you should bring a new style It doesn't have options for print out or save as to pdf file or others files please update it is gonna be useful ...
Great for timetable but purchase ticket option has many flaws.
Which one to use... This or mobile preview???
Slow, terrible, awful FIX: INSTALL SBB PREVIEW! Simple, intuitive, FAST. This app: Since the latest update timetable search is slower than ever, as others stated with previous versions, it takes at least several minutes for one connection! My phone informs me it takes a long time before/until the actual data transfer starts, which makes no sense to me. Please fix!
Incredibly poor quality It is incredible that SBB can release such poorly built app into the market and get away with it. The app would hang, get stuck in "Loading", constantly jump to the last bought ticket, and this all travels from one version to the next. State-run enterprises just cannot do IT properly, it's always a joke no matter how much money they spend
Must have for a tourist in Switzerland I got a 3 day Swiss Travel Pass, and this app is absolutely necessary for roaming around this gorgeous country. The trains and tram bus timings are linked well, and this app makes it easy to plan your journey. It also shows any last minute changes and allows entering a detour, so you can visit a beautiful Swiss village en route to your major destination.
Partial functionality Works for timings, registering for payment is broken on main platform. Not an issue with the app but does neuter usefulness.
No real time info trains delays Would have been better with real time delays' information
Tickets App crashing when one clicks on tickets section on android 6.0.1
Most useful app next to Google Maps! Most useful app next to Google maps. Works flawlessly on all my devices. Makes traveling a breeze!
Fantastic This app should be the benchmark all other travel apps aspire to be.
mobile preview is much better but where can one find it in the store??
It can be improved
For an old version. I used to love this app.... unfortunately since few days, I can't access to the standard timetable menu.
