The RS-MS1A operating requirements are as follows:
1. Android 4.0 or later
The RS-MS1A has been tested with the following Android devices available in Japan.
- Samsung Galaxy S3 Progre(au SCL21: Android 4.0.4 / 4.1.2)
- Samsung Galaxy S3 (NTT docomo SC-03E: Android 4.1.1)
- Samsung Galaxy S3α (NTT docomo SC-03E: Android 4.1.1)
- Samsung Galaxy S4 (NTT docomo SC-04E: Android 4.2.2 / 4.3 / 4.4.2)
- Samsung Galaxy Note (NTT docomo SC-05D: Android 4.1.2)
- Samsung Galaxy Note3 (NTT docomo SC-01F / au SCL22: Android 4.3 / 4.4.2)
- Google Nexus 7 (2012) (Nexus7-16G: Android 4.2.2 / 4.4.2 / 4.4.3)
- Google Nexus 7 (2013) (Nexus7-16G: Android 4.3 / 4.4.2 / 4.4.3)
2. Touch screen
3. Bluetooth function and/or USB host function
- ID-51A/E (PLUS) 50th Anniversary model
*Not all functions are usable.
To use the RS-MS1A with a supported transceiver, you need an internal Bluetooth unit or the OPC-2350LU data cable. See your transceiver’s instruction manual for details.
- The RS-MS1A may not work with all Android devices, even if it is one of the tested devices. This is because an application program on your device may conflict with the RS-MS1A.
- You may need to install additional file managing and image processing software.
- Your Android device must be USB host function compatible to communicate with your transceiver through the OPC-2350LU cable. Even if your device is USB host function compatible, the RS-MS1A may not function properly.
- You may need to connect to the Internet through a Wireless LAN, a 3G network or an LTE network for some functions.
- The RS-MS1A supports only portrait orientation. It does not support Auto Rotate.
- Remove the data cable when the Android device is not used to reduce the devices power consumption
- The RS-MS1A program may lock up when transmitting some high-quality or large size image files, or continuously operated for a long time. In that case, restart the program.
- Depending on the Android device, the power supplied to the USB terminal may be stopped while in the display sleep mode or power saving mode. In that case, remove the “Screen timeout” check mark on the Application Setting screen of the RS-MS1A.
- When you transmit an image file with the baud rate set at 4800bps, some of that data may be lost. In that case, set the baud rate to over 9600bps.
・Fixes a bug where the menu icon does not appear with Nexus 7 2013 tablets using Android 6.0 OS.
・Fixes a bug where on some tablet models, an off-line map will not display correctly when returning from a screen/power save.
・Fixes a bug that causes the RS-MS1A to crash when a USB port error or notification error occurs.

No good With Samsung S6 Installed the latest version on my brand new Samsung S6. Pairs with my new 5100 no problem but that is as far as it will go. Numerous attempts to get technical support for this problem have failed and basically I was told that it does not appear to be compatible with the S6 'at this time'.
Jury still out on this one... Works with 2218LU on my ID5100e connected to Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet & Samsung S3 Mini phone, but failed to work on ID51e with 2350LU cable connected to Samsung S3 Mini phone which was the sole purpose of buying the extra 2350LU cable, so either £54 wasted or £500 for a new phone :-( not completely happy...
Decent, but needs features & polish Keep improving this app! Previous minor issue cured with new version.
So far, so good.. This app us still in its unfancy but it has great potential. Please keep up the excellent work on this!!
Works slick. Could use a VFO mode.
Works Great! I use this with the Icom Bluetooth headset. The combination work great. The information described above work with no issues (Galaxy 3 Note). The bluetooth headset connects to the radio and it filters the audio. I can listen to the radio on the headset, answer the telephone, and use the PTT on the headset to control the radio. I can leave the 5100 running in the car, take the Note 3 and headset inside the house and communicate with no issues. A great combination.
cannot clear map history There isn't a way to clear the history on the maps. All the old stuff stays
Rubbish Does not work correctly. Resets ID-5100 display back to Analog repeater list. Can not import Repeater list from URL as mentioned in manual. Can not import Call Sign list as mentioned in manual. Does not use menu and back button smartly as per other apps. Can not link and unlink reflectors via app. Requires a lot more work :(
Will be better when it doesn't crash while testing. Galaxy S4 " fixed under last update." Rate upgrade. 74 K5ORN
Feature Recommandtion It would be a neat feature if you could add a PPT/audio option in the application itself. For example, the phone would act like the microphone and the speaker for the radio. Other than that, keep up the good work.
Feature Recommended The software works great. The only missing feature is to add where you can use phone or tablet as the radio push to talk with audio as well playing through your phone or tablet. Please add this feature
Absolutely beautiful I've really enjoyed this app with my 5100. It works wonderfully
Does not work with Android version 4.2.2 I have Android version 4.2.2 and it does not work. Says on screen that, "Your device isn't compatible with this version. So when it says version 4.0 to latest would be incorrect. I wonder if this will be fixed?? I bought a new tablet just to use with this program and it does not work...
Nice and useful Does what it us supposed to do. It would have been good of the audio was also played on the Android device. Note that this app works fine with my stock Nexus 5 running 4.4.2
Mapping feature does not show radios GPS location correctly. Locations are way off!
Nice and useful Does what it us supposed to do. It would have been good of the audio was also played on the Android device. Note that this app works fine with my stock Samsung Galaxy Note 4 running lollipop.
Works with Lenovo Tab 2 A7-20 Just picked up a Lenovo Tab 2 A7-20 at Best buy for 69 bucks and it works perfectly with my ID-51a 50th Anniversary transceiver perfectly. I just made sure to configure the radio CI-V mode properly per the manual. Everything works great. Plus this is a great tablet for the price.
This application works very well with both my One+1 and my Nexus7 tablet. There were a couple of problems when I tried to get the cable to connect but I found that by default, the ID51A and ID51APlus radios come up with the CV-I settings turned off. You will need to go into the menu and turn on the CV-I and set the echo back to 0. These instructions really needed to be included in the instructions for the cable set that goes with this APP, but were not. I really like the map selection of nearby stations, very intuitive.
Does not work on my samsung galaxy note 10.1 or my one plus android phone. tried connecting to USB.. just comes back with USB not connected. My radio is an ICOM 7100. Need some work done and a better list of DV radios
Does not work with my phones, or my tablet.. Installs on tablet but only says USB not connected. Phones it will not install at all. A friend also had trouble with a galaxy tab 4.. This should be updated more frequently. You would think for D-star as popular as it is, that they were invest more time and effort into this app. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THE RADIO/$70 CABLE until you try it with another persons cable and radio. Too much to waste if it doesnt work on your device.
Icom needs to do some work on this, it is passable as a control app, but certain things are clunky. For instance, in the Map display, the drop down menu has choices like "RX position OFF". Does that mean the RX position display IS off, or is it on now, and I should select that item to turn it off? How about using some kind of standard user interface like a check mark, or highlight, to indicate the current state of the menu items? For others that are having problems connecting their ID-51A Plus radios to smartphones using the OPC-2350LU cable, especially Samsung devices, try these RADIO settings- they agree with the default RS-MS1A application settings, and work on my Samsung Note 5: Radio MENU>Function>CI-V: CI-V Data jack: ON (Echo Back OFF); CI-V address: 86; CI-V Baud Rate: 9600bps; CI-V Transceive: ON ; Radio MENU>GPS<GPS Set: GPS Select: Internal GPS; GPS Out (To DATA Jack): ON; These settings fixed the connection failure error I was receiving. I hope this helps someone.
Does not work with my Samsung Galaxy Tab running 4.4.2 Error says: USB is not supported on this device. Don't buy the cable until you test the app for compatibility.
Poor excuse for an app Does not work with my ID 51 a Plus and my samsung s5
Works Would like to see a DR scan feature added.
Decent, but needs features & polish Keep improving this app! Previous minor issue cured with new version.
Won't work Won't work on Samsung Tab 3 says problem with USB. Have also tried on a Nexus that is on the approved (tested) list this one launches the programming but will not talk to the radio. Very little help from Icom!
Doesn't work on Samsung Buyer Be Ware This app does not work on either my Samsung S6 Edge or my older NOTE 8.0. Do NOT waste your money on the Icon OPC-2350LU or this App if you own either, as they will NOT work. The best you can hope for is an error message, "Failed to communicate with the transceiver. Check the transceiver settings or application settings.". To the extent I am able, I have checked both the transceiver and applications settings and made changes, yet nothing. Very disappointed.
IC-7100 Tried using USB not working hope you guys make new update to make this work in ic-7100 or sell a Bluetooth for $50 or less
Rubbish only lists ICOM repeaters Does not list non ICOM d-star repeaters (eg GB7BE). Fail... Uninstall
Could be more I'd like to see some programming capabilities added to this app.
Works great!!!! Get the radio settings right and this has worked on all of my Android devices. All 5 just needed the settings to be right. Good job. Good app.
Works Great! If you have a Galaxy Tab 4 and a Samsung S6 you MUST get into your radio settings and turn ON the CV-I setting. After that google "RS-MS1A for Samsung" and download the app from the website you find it on. It all works great after those steps. You may be able to just change your radio setting without DL the app from a website. Have fun and good luck!
51a+ and Samsung Note 5, cannot detect transceiver. I can't believe I paid $70 for an official icom cable kit and it doesn't work at all.
Doesn't work with Nexus 5x Nexus 5x fully supports USB host mode. App simply states, "Failed to communicate with the transceiver. Check the transceiver or application settings" super useful, thanks icom!!!
Very powerful app! Used this with a Galaxy S7 and it worked straight out of the box. I love this app and see how useful it will be for EmComm. Just one request! It would be ver useful to be able to send files other than pictures such as spreadsheets, text documents, and other file types. If there is a way I am missing please feel free to contact me.
Enable ci-v in function menu on radio Icom 51a/e with note4 and tab s2 and nexus 2013
