Great concept, needs work. On my nexus 4, the camera simply couldn't focus, rendering the app useless. I would also suggest a button to switch the flashlight on or off. I'll update my review as updates come out.
So far so good There is a lot of room for improvement, but once the Dev make the fine tune this app will worth it's weight in gold
Great idea, but retport wrong values Does not recognize the colors correctly, reports wrong values.
Limited use It can't read the correct values on blue resistors
Interesting concept... major issues. Love the concept and using OpenCV for this (could be very beneficial to people who have difficulty perceiving the colors!), but the app has some major problems (can't focus, seems stuck in VERY VERY tight digital zoom, etc). Could not get it to work at all.
Cool concept, however... Needs a bit more work. Focusing takes forever on my S4. It also has a hard time reading resistor values on blue resistors.
Nice idea Nice idea but not usable yet. Kept flicking between values, none of them right.
Great idea but needs some work The demo video for this is pretty cool, can't get it to focus on my S4 though.
Great This is a genius idea. I have some color blindness and always have to rely on my trusty meter. I have an HTC One M7 and it is having some focus issues. This app will always be on my phone. Please keep up the development on this awesome app.
Neat idea but needs some controls for the camera. On my galaxy note 4 the camera seems way too zoomed in and it's impossible to hold the camera steady enough
Great Idea What a great concept and works pretty well.
Handy, could use some work I'm colorblind so this kind of app is essential for me. It works but could use some improvement. It would be better if it worked like QR readers that freeze once they detect the QR. This just just has live video and only displays the resistance when you are perfectly lined up, making it very finicky.
Nothing but a black screen on my Samsung S3. It turns the camera flash light on, but that's it. The display window is black. Phone is a Samsung Galaxy S3 (AT&T), model SGH-I747. Android version 4.4.2.
cannot focus excellent idea but could not focus once with samsung s4 mini. probably a bug since the camera application can focus on the same resistors.
Screwing AMAZING idea Very inconsistent results. I'm so ready to pay for a reliably working version it hurts.
Ok Needs ability to turn off flash. My light is too bright.
Good idea but not quite there
Need Improvement A wonderful idea, and a not so wonderful execution. I could not get it read a value, not even once... Can not focus camera from any distance. I swept distance from 2cm to 1m by 1cm increments by at least 5 minutes wait time per increment by a phone and a tablet, still no results.
Not so perfect Can't truly trust on the app. Take a lot to focus. Sometimes a bad reading and need to be on top of white paper
Very useful It really useful
No focus The app never focuses, it stays blurry at any distance on a Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
Consistently wrong reading, even with focused picture. I suggest to white balanced without use of flashlight (it caused reflection on resistor's glossy body). Also first do a resistor's body color detection (the background color where the bands are) before evaluating the bands's colors. Alternatively, it would be better to add a Manual mode to take a picture first, then manually pick each band (by touching the photo) to precise points where the color of the 5 bands are.
I can't get it to work, I line up the colors with the indicator. But nothing is happening.
Does not work on redmi note 4g.. App gets stuck 2 seconds after opening the app..
Does not use autofocus Crap, the camera focus is set to infinity.
Focus is nearly impossible It's nearly impossible to get the scanner to focus. Then when it does it won't actually scan the color code. Useless app. This is a really great idea and would be wonderful if it worked.
Great idea, needs improvements As a developer i thought About it and found this APP. It has a great functionality, but needs some improvements.
When I'm 64 Tried it on a 100R and 10k both were read as 64M. Oh well.
Love it. It works great.
Not working for me Unfortunately I was not able to make a correct scan with or without the flash light. I get 68ohm or 680ohms no matter what the resistor is.
Does not work, hangs up my motorolla phone. Uninstalled.
Bad Not result , fully rong.
Very useful app
Exelent Its works...
Good idea but... It works very bad, won't recognize many, even when focused. And when it does, the values vary a lot, so you have to check them manually in order to be right. Also, a focus slider instead of relaying on the much imprecise autofocus, would be great
Great concept, poor delivery. Does not focus properly, software does not take in consideration of distance and light source, cannot use, please revise and lets try again.
Doesn't work Won't turn on the camera on galaxy s3
Great idea, the execution is not very good. I have a REALLY hard time getting it to focus and my hands shake a little and thus, it makes this useless. Also, doesn't seem to do well with blue resistors :(
Neat idea, poor execution The camera feed is upside down on my phone (Nexus 5X) for some reason, making it all but impossible to aim correctly.
Great idea, but totally unusable. The camera never focus and it is impossible to get a value unless you spend minutes trying to find the sweet spot.
Good idea, Couldn't get it to work Unfortunately I couldn't get it to work on my Samsung Galaxy SIII LTE (GT-i9305). It had a hard time focusing - then once it had focused it didn't give any readings. With a little work this could be a winner of an application but the current state leaves it unusable for me.
The concept is great. As others have said, would be happy to pay for this sort of app if it worked. Sadly, at least with the version I've used, it struggles to correctly identify the colours of the bands (with blue background) so gives incorrect values. So three stars for effort, and hopefully can come up with a way of dealing with different colour resistors that are obviously throwing out the algorithm (which I suspect is assuming yellow as per the demo video). Maybe even a simple tick box to choose the colour of the resistor...... FYI didn't have issues with focus etc with my mobile, but it's a Sony Xperia so has a pretty decent camera.
Half way there. Kind-of works. It would be better to decode the value from a static image.
Didn't really work
Good idea but Can not make clear focus on resistor
I have colour blindness and also poor eyesight so think an app like this is a great idea. Sadly it didn't work for me. It was pretty good at identifying resistors but the numbers it produced fluctuated greatly. I only tried it on an old and cheap Android tablet that was lying around so maybe it would do better on a better device.
Unless I'm dead it's really hard to get it to scan even when I did. After some time. It came up with the wrong value. There is camera latency issues. This could be one of the issues other people are getting also. The red line is a little small. Maybe in the future I will again
