PressureNet boasts a community of fellow citizen scientists helping to create the most accurate real-time, hyperlocal weather forecast.

PressureNet uses barometric sensors built into select Android devices (see if yours is listed below) to automatically detect changes in atmospheric pressure, predicting hyperlocal weather activity before it occurs. We incorporate your sensor data into our own weather models, which produce local temperature forecasts for you, our users.

Not only does your automatic sensor data make your weather forecast more accurate, but we also incorporate user-reported weather conditions to train and correct our models. Our forecast accuracy improves as more users join!

Note: Temperature forecasts are for North America only right now. We will be adding more locations as users request them. Send us an email to let us know you're interested! [email protected]

Features:

- NEW: Crowdsourced sensor data reflects real-time hyperlocal weather forecast for the next few hours.

- Report real-time weather changes in your area to other PressureNet users.

- Pressure drop/rise alerts: notifies you when your pressure starts to fall -- indicating oncoming clouds, rain, and good weather ahead!

- Home screen widget allows for user submitted weather updates and displays real-time barometer readings and hourly/on-demand pressure changes.

A novel and interesting app Not bad at all, and crowd sourcing of atmospheric pressure using smartphones makes sense. I can't get the animation to work. Is this a really useful feature? Why not drop it from the app, or make it go properly. The graph could be improved. Temperature report is inaccurate; needs compensation to account for instrument temperature. 5 stars if these improvements are made.

Mathew Pinard

Citizen science A great app that allows you to submit atmospheric reading for experts to use and increase our understanding of our planet. I encourage everyone to participate, as it doesn't require technical knowledge and doesn't require any interaction.

William Brown

Weather Very cool that my little device is able to contribute. Like the idea...i ll see how it really works. If it cost me $ then i will uninstal.

Frank Johnston

Pretty Good I love in a hilly area next to the California Central Valley. I can use the changing values graphing to track when I came and went from home. Cool. Not so cool is that the altitude is almost never within one hundred feet of accuracy. I am at 1225' now and it showed about 620', which is typical. Wouldn't be good accuracy for, let's say, an aircraft altimeter based on barometric pressure.

Mat Jennings

Problems seem fixed now. Thanks I've been running this app for a few years and it's done everything it should over that time. However, the most recent update causes my GPS to be opened 100% of the time. I verified this using a battery tracking app. This drains my battery like mad. Please fix and the app gets 5 stars. Running on stock Verizon Galaxy S3. I'll reinstall once this is fixed.

Gerald Alanis

Nice Works well, doesn't eat up my battery and I can help research. All good things in my book

Rachel Trocano

Really cool, and I'm glad to contribute, but why don't we have a weather submission for fog?

Joshua Sansom

Great Idea Excellent social sourcing of weather data, I just wish more people used it

Nuke Roch

Works! Keep up the good work. Wouldn't mind paying for a more feature rich version with weather alarms and slicker UI.

Chris notyaDaddy

Great idea I just heard about it on cbc radio thought I should contribute to a great idea that could possibly save lives

Sunjammr

Great concept and a great app! Excellent application for the collection, transmission, and dissemination of local weather conditions. This is the future of meteorology, and the science of weather forecasting will improve tenfold because of it and similar efforts. Maybe one day we will finally be able to conduct detailed analysis of the interior of an active cyclone by feeding 1,000 iPhones into a raging Cat. 4 tornado! It is also a great 'companion' to your registered PWS.! KFLCORAL27

Meghan Green

Calibration and Wunderground There doesn't seem to be an option to calibrate pressure data, my readings are inaccurate. Also useful would be hooking this up to Wunderground sensors that exist already.

Joseph Burke

Horrible app Nothing works as a weather nut I thought this would be cool but is way too complicated to use.

T Thiessen

Good..needs work Love it. Only thing I don't love is that the app is updated frequently and stops logging until you manually start it again.

Graham Miles

Graham This is perfect. I can send information freely and often. I think i have become an amateur scientist and I feel good about contributing to science in this way. Thank you very much for the new self esteem that you've given me. Beware, I'm going to be hanging around for a long time with you. Thanks again.

Larry ONeal

Nice app I like the app with the exception of the lack of data being reported.

Brian W

Awesome This is such a great app for the meteorology nerd in all of us. All it really needs is more people to share!

Red Lloyd

Good tool Need to add sleet to the reporting possibilities.

Casey Cassity

Great little app Love this thing, and excited for the data these guys release. Used the pressure data in the Colorado mountains for an anatomy class.

Dominic Powell

This could really change society If only everyone used it.

Justin Gulley

Not ploting, buggy The app is not plotting on my galaxy s5. Also will not sumit data.

Nick Thomson

Nice in the background Its more usefull than a nice big pair of knockers speaking weather wise it is

Nathan Hopper

Pinpoint precision of your house Advertises to the world the exact location of your house/work via barometer updates. Good bye privacy.

Richard Martin

No contributers No contributers means no weather data equals stupid app!

Bour Gadin

Good app Could we have a average choice between "a little windy" and "very windy"...

Jeramie Curtice

Graph sucks and battery killer Graph looks more like connect the dots and battery drains 4 hours sooner than normal. Pressure is also a higher reading than my other app.

Tohap Pahot

Happy to contribute...

Jeffrey Lew

Display issues Latest update still doesn't display pressure values on map correctly on high res displays, like LG G3--numbers are microscopic.

Veronica Sexton

Love it, but still a work in progress I find I miss some of the older map data options, but they were tricky to use. I am finally seeing my pressure adjusted by sea level - at least on my own screen in the corner and in my data, but the pressure displayed for others to see is not. Either that, or it is only showing that for my benefit, because my nearby contributors' readings show the adjusted reading. I wonder what they see? I love the concept and have been contributing data for over a year. I wish more would in my area.

John Ryerson

Best Barometer This is the best Barometer app I have found. Unlike other barometer apps this one will let you display the sea level barometer reading not only on the app, but also on the widget. It also has great graphics with in the app along with many different and interesting stats and readings.

Johnna Locke

So far ok I would like to see a way to get the reading on my phone so when the program is not open I can see the numbers it would be great help. That would make a 5 star for sure.

Lynne Quarmby

Love this app! Crowd-sourced science that is fun, interesting and easy.

Brad Koehler

Works latest version does not display pressure correctly. Data log and display pressure don't match

Peter Brooke

Brilliant app What an excellent way of doing crowd sourced science. Awesome!

Jon Nicholas

Great app Use it all the time.

Okan Korsal

Notification in status bar. Please add the barometric value in the status bar at top.

Michael Makowski

Works great. Seems accurate. Have an opportunity to view local area map and barametric differances.

Jeff Nichols

No pressure or any data

Terri Bunker

I have arthritis and this is a great tool to help me understand how the pressure causes pain. It's definitely better in Corpus Christi Texas than Oklahoma!

Кирилл Сетдеков

Widget not working Widget to report weather conditions is shown on the screenshots but not available.

Виталий Виталий

Widget not work!!!

Иван Лапенков

Работает вроде Need options like "auto submit only when power plugged" to extend battery life.

Chris Thorn

Nice-looking app, but it says "No atmosphere sensors detected" for my GT-I9300 Int'l running Paranoid Android 5.1 (Android version 5.1.1). Other barometer apps in the Play Store work just fine.

Mustafa Ibrahim

Good App but I'll give it 5 stars when the gps altitude is fixed. I live more than 1000m ASL (3300ft ASL) and the app tells me 0!

Justin Macauley

App Crashes This app just crashes for no reason. Makes me sad, I used to like this app and wanna try out the new stuff in it.

James Seedorf

Good concept The concept is a great one, however, it greatly lacks in user base for weather notification, and the idea of sourcing a phone for pressure is a little iffy. Even if gps altitude is enabled I get pretty huge fluctuations as I drive around, so my data is all pretty useless.

Nick Thomson

Nice in the background Its more usefull than a nice big pair of knockers speaking weather wise it is works well on the note2 not so hot on my smagsun tablet T230

Mathew Pinard

Citizen science A great app that allows you to submit atmospheric reading for experts to use and increase our understanding of our planet. I encourage everyone to participate, as it doesn't require technical knowledge and doesn't require any interaction.

Alex Vine

Problems Used to love this app. Now the font is too small to read and it won't display pressure units consistently. Otherwise it's great.

Aaron Bundy

Great idea, but randomly glitches and drains battery Usually worked great, but once every day or two it would start draining battery at >30% per hour with large increase in battery temperature and the only way to stop the drain was to restart phone. Had to uninstall as a result since it would kill the phone if you didn't catch it in time.

Dan Moore

No graph data. Even though there are stations near me, there are never any graph data.

Paul Kennaugh

Looks OK Doesn't detect the Sensor in my Galaxy S3 ....Some nice widgets would be nice, like the barometer dial in your picture for example...

Terri Bunker

I have arthritis and this is a great tool to help me understand how the pressure causes pain. It's definitely better in Corpus Christi Texas than Oklahoma! Just wanted to update that the temperature is not accurate. It's 33 here but showing 61 in Glenpool Oklahoma on the map & 45 in other areas around us. Therefore I downgraded my rating to 4. Fix the glitch & I'll go back to 5.

Veronica Sexton

Was a work in progress, now it... has regressed to an almost worthless app! I had had such high hopes. I can't see anyone's data on the map (inc mine), and either no one is submitting weather conditions anymore or they aren't visible. This could be a case of mass exodus. Having only my own baro. pressure reading is almost pointless, especially since it wavers drastically as well as sometimes showing it altitude adjusted then jumping back to the raw values. If I could see neighbor values, I could see the shift in pressures by area. Too bad.

Kevin McCormick

Was cool but Now the app doesn't show you the pressures on the map. Now you get temperatures and currently the temperature is 32 but the map is showing 51. Kind of useless.

Kai Adin Cooper

Cool app, But not that useful outside the US I like the app, but the only feature I can use is the Pressure Graph thats stored. Not many people in my city report the weather and they've now removed the (inaccurate apparently) pressure tags from other peoples phones which was at least interesting to look at, so my map is bare most of the day.

Alex Vine

Problems Used to love this app. Now the font is too small to read and it won't display pressure units consistently. And it fails to load my pressure data almost all of the time. Otherwise it's great.

Maarten Venter

What happened? Not working as was originally intended. Uninstalled.

Wendy Silk

It doesn't do anything visible ! It doesn't work it just sits there on my föhn ? this renders it unusable. I want my money back.

Donna Patterson

Where's the pressure reading graph? Updated and the program is not functional, Samsung S5, please restore the pressure graph, hour,6hr,24hr,and,chart! Ok found it!

Ryan Mokres

Horrible Can't get it to show location pressure... Useless.

Robert Swain

No longer as cool or useful This no longer displays others data. Not that useful. I will probably Uninstaller what was once a cool app.

Update on new version...great altitude feature disappeared. Disappointing.

Melania Borders

Give back graph! I loved this app. I used it to track drops in the pressure. I suffer from migraines and this app helped me track how the drop related to bringing them on. When it updated I lost the ability to see the graph by hour and weeks which really sucks.

Linda Lefco

Just as soon as I found this app it seems I lost it. Meaning it doesn't work anymore. I get the alerts, but the time ant temp haven't changed in over a week even though I uninstalled and reinstalled. Help.

Googelneeds Moreprivacy

Works fine Runs in the background without any trouble. Immediately displays pressure upon opening app. Easy to understand settings with sensible defaults.

Thomas Fackler

You and Me and the Weather Make Three Pressure tracking is cool. Especially when it makes me think of Queen AND Vanilla Ice. Additionally, the ineffably superlative aspect of this app is that I can look outside and tap in what my section of the natural world is doing, and others in the less natural parts of my world can make note of the real world and adjust their circumstances accordingly. Tap, tap, tap...it's raining men. Tap, tap, tap... I'm as cold as ice. Maybe you get the picture, but you probably don't unless you are trying it out.

Scott D

I love it but.... Love it but, can't view 7 day pressure trace. When I try to view, the app crashes. Please fix.

Joey Sullivan

It's a really cool service, but the graph is the absolute worst of all pressure apps. I want to be able to look at a neat graph of my phone's pressure sensor over time, AND participate in this cool pressurenet service, in one app! Instead all I get is a buggy scatter dot plot with no options. I mean really, this is the kind of data where you should be putting LINES between the scatter dots.

Andrew Bedrous

Crashes now Used to work. Now I'm just getting an error and a crash inmediately. UPDATE: after update I am up and running.

Johann Vigelius

No option for pressure in map Always liked the app but I did prefer the pressure overlay on the map rather than the temperature one since that was the main reason for me to use this app. Please give me an option to switch to that view by default. Would also be cool if you could integrate barometric lines that interpolate borders of hi/lo pressure areas similar to an elevation map

Mustafa Ibrahim

I had this app before when it used to show on map pressure readings. It isn't showing this anymore!

Ron Sannachan

Great use of the sensors.

Andy Bachor

If this contributes to better weather forecasting I'll continue using it.

Marcel de Jong

Decent app I like the idea. Too bad the alerts and forecast features aren't available in my region. Nor are the temperatures (as seen in screenshots) available to me in the Netherlands, so the map is less useful for me. Also the play button doesn't show the reports anymore either.

Andres Rueda

Bye bye So, you finaly got it. I can't check pressures around. I'm signing off.

Matthew J. Harmon

Great trends information Pressure drop alerts for pending severe weather would be a great addition. Edit/Reply: Thank you for the response! Configuring the sensitivity of the pressure drop alerts would be great for the hard core wx nerds. :-)

Kevin Sword

Great way to contribute to forecasts! I love the weather reporting function and that you can choose where your data goes.

Jack Abbate

Last update ruined app A key feature was the log that is now gone after last update.

I. Am

Now wants identity permission? And not even sure it still uses phone pressure data, from that 7/24/15 reply.

Amanda Richer

Unusual weather not covered App works great, fun to use. However there is no field for "smoke". Right now we are very smoky but not actually on fire; but "wildfire" is the closest report we can do. As well, since the latest update, opening pressurenet also opens the Steam app, I have no idea why.

Jeff Duda

Getting worse I liked earlier versions better. You used to be able to view other users' pressure obs in the map, but now you can't. I also don't like how I can no longer view text data of my own pressure obs unless I export. Not worth the effort for something so simple.

Dennis Dura

Don't Need Temperatures This is a useless feature as all in my area say it's 61 when it's close to 40 as I write this. If this feature is necessary for some reason, please give us a toggle to turn it off. Previous version showed pressures on the map ..that what this app is about. I'll keep it running to support research, but otherwise there isn't much point to look at a map with bad information on it.

Jeffrey Lew

Very little works My pressure shows in the upper left, but there's no data being acquired and plotted. The widget does not update pressure and it no longer opens the app when you tap on it. Temperature on map is useless because you're seeing in-pocket temperatures!

Patrick Finerty, Jr.

Fonts in the graph are uselessly small I use this for seeing my own pressure data but the interface is awful due to fonts that are too small for anyone to see. I still use it though.

Che Dean

Great App Great app and fantastic idea!

Blake Patton

Works on N Works great and it's bug free in Android N

Kai Adin Cooper

Cool app, But pretty useless outside the US. Now has a persistent banner for a beta app not available in my county :/ I like the app, but the only feature I can use is the Pressure Graph thats stored. Not many people in my city report the weather and they've now removed the pressure tags from other peoples phones which was at least interesting to look at, so my map is bare most of the day.

Peter Janes

Temps are way way off It's 27°C outside right now; PressureNet thinks it's 6. Environment Canada forecast says it'll be 14°C tonight; PressureNet thinks it'll be -7. Something has gone terribly wrong.

Red Lloyd

Crashes fixed Update is good, no more crashes! Sunshine now available on the Play Store, worth a look.

Mike Kilar

No issues with the app. Latest version fixes all issues I've had. Happy to contribute to the greater good.

Frank Johnston

Pretty Good I live in a hilly area next to the California Central Valley. Update on new version...great altitude feature disappeared. Disappointing.

Riley S.

I miss the feature that told you how many readings you have sent that week and in total. I'd love for you to add it back.

Paul Taylor

Doesn't work on custom roms Worked fine on stock roms on this Galaxy S3, now on CM13 (and since CM11) the program claims it has no barometer despite the fact other apps can display information from it.

Red Lloyd

Crashes fixed Update is good, no more crashes! Sunshine now available on the Play Store, worth a look.

Jim Marchik

Pressure net Barometer application temperature for my location is about 20 degŕees to low

Wendy Silk
