Good A nice podcast app with some good options. Might not be the easiest to use, though, and since the last update it is apparently in a state of continuous refreshing. The notification that it is refreshing doesn't go away until a hard reboot of my phone, only to reappear when I plug my phone in again to recharge
Great Nice simple podcast app. The ads aren't annoying and it does everything I need it to do.
I love this app I've used this for years now and its still my favorite app for podcasts. I use for driving and running. My one complaint is that the little widget I see on my motoX before I unlock the screen has the pause button next to the "power" button. Half the time when I try to pause it, I just kill the app on accident.
Podcast stop working Was a really big fan of this app until 1 of my favorite podcasts stopped working. Please fix: Clark Howard.
UI update sacrifices usability The app was definitely in need of a visual upgrade but the performance of key functions suffers as a result. Rewind lags so severely and jumps back by such a small increment and the delay that occurs as it saves your new position is so long that you often can't actually Rewind faster than it plays. Also, progress bar too close to play button. Easy to attempt pause and instead skip to the middle of an episode
Great, especially with latest updates Love this app. Simple effective interface, great support for open source and proprietary feeds, and plays well with navigation, pausing itself during directions before resuming.
Very nice Easy to use. Never had a problem. Always reliable. Siriusxm should take lessons. Very nice guys. Thanks! :)
Basic, but lacks functionality Or feels half baked. You can set categories to podcasts - but you can't see a category contents. You can share a podcast - but as embedded mp3, not a link to the podcast origin. These small issues makes it less usable. Won't use it anymore.
Love it Best podcast app by far. Good selection, good stream quality, and it's free. Much love
Good but.... I have constant issues while listening to episodes and browsing in chrome where the audio playback will cut out. I know that android has different audio streams so maybe podkicker is using the same stream as chrome? I don't have the same issue with rdio...
Battery drain Great app but huge battery drain.
Works great but the bill burr podcast quick updating with new episodes
The best podcaster for android, hands down.
Great app, lots of functionality without being too complex (coughpodcastaddictcough). Single stream for all your recent podcast episodes is very convenient. Recent updates have successfully improved UI to better fit material design.
New update breaks features Now when playing a video if I pause it and then let the screen turn off the video will freeze and podkicker will give an error saying unrecognizedmediaformat if I try to play ANY videos from then on until I reset my device.
Essential Stop reading my review and click install.
Great app until you want to change download directory. "Fast simple and intuitive podcast manager" almost. Otherwise I'd give it 5 stars. Also, the notifications guide you to podkicker but not to the specific podcast it's notifying you about. You brought me this far, why not just take me all the way there
Can't finish an episode This app used to be great, now it struggles to get to the end of any podcast. It just stops, then seems to have no idea where I was in whatever episode. Used to be only when I wasn't on wifi, but now it's incapable even on wifi. I guess I'll be switching to something else.
Scammy-looking ads Couldn't find my opml file.
No frills, yet all I need
Basic but functional This app may not be very pretty, but does what I need it to, it's easy to search podcasts, and streaming to my chromecast works.
Slow responding Has a delayed reaction to commands
Great app I can listen to all my favs in one spot without downloading all their individual podcasts.
Almost the best Everything has gotten better. One of my favorite podcast great outdoors with Jim strader is not to be found. Otherwise 5 stars
Quality straightforward podcast player It has the features I need without bloat. It works well, organizes my subscriptions, and is free.
Can't see the wood for the trees Been great for so long but now search returns so many results I can't find the podcasts I want to subscribe too.
Almost the best Works great, free, supports downloads for offline listening...Podcast Republic and BeyondPod are better
Only podcast app I've had to try This is the only podcast app I've tried, because it works great! Simple to use, had a couple of issues initially but now no complaints
/4,5 Whatever glitch doesn't take away from it being pretty, pretty, pretty good
Issue download a bunch of old episode
Great when it works Shuts down randomly. Tried un and reinstalling. Just glitchy.
What happened? Loved the app then suddenly my favorite podcast stopped showing new entries its still going and I can find it easily on SoundCloud but you guys dropped it.
Works fine I've had this app for awhile and can't remember ever having an issue with it.
Found this treasure. Found this when searching for a replacement app. I'm glad I did. No confusing interface. No goofy ads playing between podcasts. Just simple and straight to the point.
Problems keeping this from 5 stars Constantly stops after an episode and closes app. Very frustrating when driving. I have to pull over to restart. Would purchase pro and rate 5 stars if fixed
'Toggle all listened' missing Please, add "Toggle All Listened" button in the Episodes tab long tap menu.
Awesome Podcast Player Using it for 2 and half year. Restyled interface is super neat and usable! Thank you for your work!
wtf Doesn't save the progress. It annoys me every bloody morning
We need widgets! Widget! Both homescreen and lockscreen. And search of description of podcasts.
Some podcast wrong downloads partially Some podcast wrong downloads partially, but in podkicker it marks as fully downloaded. Please add an option for re-download of selected file, or fix this problem as a whole.
Doesn't download podcasts automatically Compared to Google Listen, it doesn't download podcasts automatically... So, can not be used offline without manual actions done.
Cool Clean and simple, almost Unix-way.
Best podcaster I use it all the time, really easy and logical to use. I don't use my mp3 players anymore, just my phone with Podkicker. This is the best thing at finding interesting podcasts. I am a podcast nut and this is the best. I have told my friends to use it also.
Podcast stop working Was a really big fan of this app until 1 of my favorite podcasts stopped working. Please fix: Clark Howard.
Great! Works well. Can actually download podcasts to SD card, saving phone memory. Dosn't use a massive of battery either.
Often doesn't refresh or download new pods for no apparent reason I'd really like this app if it weren't for this problem... Settings check says it should be downloading new pods in WiFi, but randomly every few days it just doesn't download new ones. Other days (the same ones and more), the app doesn't refresh unless I actually open it, even though it's supposed to in WiFi. This happens pretty regularly. Please fix!!!
Recent issues Absolutely love this app. My G2 just upgraded to lollipop and now podkicker and some other audio apps mysteriously just stop. Generally have to reboot sometimes often. Bummed. Guessing it's not the app though
Great podcast player It's all here easy to use and has some nice features. Love it.
Horrible. Uninstalling now Ive got a lg optimus f7 and it Keeps getting worse with each update. Keeps kicking me out of the app. Seems like I cant listen to something no more than 10 minutes before it force closes. Ive dealt with this app for 3 yeats and countless phones and I cant deal with it anymore. Im walking away.
Used to be five stars... But the latest update is a disaster. Thanks to the customization menu changes all settings need to be refone. And most annoyingly the volume seems to be limeted and i can barely here my podcasts.
Good podcast app. Simple to use. Good selection of podcasts. Lately needs some work as it stops playing, exits, if you get out of the app to do something else it won't play the next item in the playlist, it freezes, it needs better suggestions for new podcasts, and a backup subscriptions that works. My downloaded podcasts that save to my memory card should be found if I put that card into a new phone, or if I have to reinstall the app. Tons of work needs done.
Best one so far Not perfect but I find this app the best available
Good but occasionally deletes part-listened podcasts I no longer use my iPod to listen to podcasts, I now just use my phone and this app. It is easy to use but I have one problem and one request. The request is to be able to vary the play speed like I could on my iPod. The problem is that occasionally it deletes podcasts that I have only partially listened to, rather than waiting until I have listened to it all.
Incredible. But one suggestion. Maybe an option to refresh individual subscriptions. I've got quite a big list and it takes a while to check them. Sometimes I want to quickly check just one. Apart from that 10/10
Really good! It's been with me through good and bad days. Didn't like few changes, but got used to them. I'm writing this review after trying different podcast listeners - this one seems the best!
Shame it's not finished Worked great. Backed up files to OPML. Just had no way to restore subscriptions with it and no help from developer. Pocket casts reads OPML very easily.
Podkicker App used to run perfect....now it freezes and shows playback error most times..... ?
Great app I use it every day. The only complaint I have is the search function doesn't always work right but I rarely use it anyway
Works great Good work. Highly recommend
Great I switched from onecast. Podkicker has all the features that I wanted and the price is right. Five stars.
Solid Podcast app It's good. Way better than Stitched!
Love it, but it doesn't share to social media Love podkicker, but it doesn't share a podcast to social media very well. This need improvement.
Skips I have used this app for over a year now and liked it very much compared to other players but it now skips around regardless of if I'm streaming or playing from downloads.
Compulsive behaviour The podcast phenomenon may be a symptom of our addiction to information. What will happen to us when we have no new arts, tech or information to consume? Will we be better or worse?
I've been using this for a few months now and I'm really impressed. Unlike a lot of podcast clients I've tried Podkicker is easy to navigate and I've not known it to crash (on Samsung Galaxy Note 4). It clearly shows me the podcasts I've subscribed to, the most recent episodes and any episodes I've downloaded in a nice neat menu with the add/search and refresh buttons easily accessible at the top. There's also the option within the search to get podcast suggestions based on what you're currently subscribed to. It does have a slight error though, if you try to download an episode when you have no internet connection and then, without realising, try to play that episode you'll get an error message and it won't play. This is easily fixed by deleting the download and downloading again when you have connection and the app deals well with losing connection during a download but it can be a bit frustrating when starting one without as it's not made clear to you what went wrong. This is certainly the best podcast player I've come across so far and it does everything I need it to right now.
Never had a single issue, excellent & simple UI. I'm upgrading to pro.
Simply efficient This one is the best I've used. User-friendly and sleek design. I'm quite happy with the app. ???
Easy to use, reliable, tons of podcasts I love the option to stream or download the podcast. Quality is great, the app is very reliable, and the interface is super easy to use by selecting the channels of podcasts you want. 5/5!
Great App! Never had a single issue whit it. Simple, elegant and straight to the point.
I like the app a lot, but it will occasionally randomly skip to the end of a podcast, which is very annoying.
It's an useful app although, even in this next version, it keeps crashing all the time. Every time the connection change it crashes as in some other situations.
Overall a great, easy to use app for listening to podcasts.
Perfect for adding all your favorite podcasts, configure it to 'only download when on wifi', and to 'delete when finished listening'. Now that I have gotten used to the tabbed layout and various options, it just works away in the background. Recommended!
Bugs, lost of them Has some nice features but its got lots of bugs
Best app on the market This is my most used app, and it works flawlessly. It may be the greatest app of all time.
It's free And it works very well
Question Why does this app need access to read the phone's call information?
What is the point of a podcast app if I can't subscribe to any podcasts.
Great App for finding and listening to podcasts.
Great app I would pay for this app if you had the ability to adjust the speed of the podcast. That would be clutch!!!
Great Love the simple interface and its reliable.
Very lightweight client
Full featured and great for older/slower devices
Couldn't figure it out
Don't work Tells me no place to store files SD Card removed. Not I have over 30 gb space left on it no other app nor the camera have a problem only this app
Very good for what it does for free, but I have a major issue. On my Nexus 4 I find that the podcast sometimes skips to the end, then plays the next one. This was a BIG issue when I was using the auto delete feature because I've had it suddenly blast through all my downloaded podcasts and erase them all! There have been updates but this still happens, so I recommend not using auto delete till this is fixed. Update 11/15: App skips to the next podcast at random. Very annoying bug, removed one star from my review.
Used to be good But since recent update the app keeps crashing over and over and over. Plus it sucks up battery power like crazy since the update. Any chance it'll change?
I have been using this app every day. The of the best podcast app on android so far I have used.
This is a good app if you like listening to podcasts, because it allows you to listen to podcasts. For this reason I have given it four stars out of a possible five. Why not five, you ask? Well, that would imply I think this app is perfect, and let's face it, nothing's perfect. We don't live in a perfect world. But the world isn't such a bad place, really. We have podcasts, and apps that allow us to listen them. This app allows you to do that, which is nice. Hence the four stars. That works out at 80%, which is more than satisfactory I think, by anyone's standards.
Works great except... Does not seem to remember playback position. Oxygen OS 2.1.1/Android 5.1.1
I've used podkicker for a long time and will probably always use it. Easy to reliable and user-friendly.
I've loved this app for the past 2 years, but the 10/17 update has basically killed it. It's eaten 40% of my battery over the course of listening for an hour and a half. Unusable until fixed.
Great app Would be 5 stars if it had pull to refresh
Works great I like The only problem is I cannot be move to SD card
excellent app everything you need and then some, great work!
I really enjoy this application. It's simple to use and does what it is supposed to do. Though I do like it, there are a few quirks and items I have to pick. I would like it to have an option where one could switch between black text on a white background, and the default shown (white text on black background). As well, it seems that in the last update, there are issues with the "sleeptimer"; whatever episode of whatever podcast I set the sleep-timer on, when I use it the next day, the podcast will not skip forward or backwards properly nor will it scrub. I would also, personally, want there to be a more adjustable sleeptimer, instead of set intervals.
Update ruins variable playback speed Using presto was perfect for VPS. Never had an issue before. Now, either the VPS won't change or, when it does, I get lots of static.
Really Love this but I lost all my subscribe after update
Best UI Only feature that prevents it from going 5/5 is lack of way to compartmentalize podcasts or episodes e.g. sports, news, story-telling.
Great app and fewer permissions! Excellent podcast reader and well done for reducing the permissions required
Latest update breaks audio Latest version fixed the change log, but broke audio! Now no matter what I try to play, I just get the message "audio busy". Now I have to play everything through external play.
Same great as the old one
Long term user getting disappointed Having ongoing issues with playback cutting out before podcast is finished and this problem continuing when attempting to replay. Not sure why this happens.
Not the worst Having some issues with supposed already downloaded podcasts play as streaming.. Problem for me because I have limited data Samsung Galaxy Note 4 T-Mobile stock rom
Really good app. Easy and simple to use but search function could be improved. Thanks :)
The best one The best pay the 1.99 for the pro version.
Easy to use, even for a podcast novice I"ve just heard about podcasts so went online to see which app was good. Podkicker was mentioned several times so decided to give it a try. I found it easy to understand and use.
I like the current version of Podkicker a lot. Intuitive interface. It just works!
Was working fine until the latest updates from Google, now buffering issues, constantly restarting. When will am update be released?
Favorite I've tried a ton of podcasting apps and this is my favorite. Not bloated and has all the features I need.
Was good. Waiting for update App worked great but since the galaxy S6 update, the podcasts skip back 15-20 seconds in the middle of the episode.. this happens multiple times while listening... now just waiting for the next app update. Hopefully this gets fixed
Was great, now broken Podcasts randomly stop, streaming or downloaded, and don't save your place so you have to figure out how far along you were. Simple UI, I've used this app for awhile, but this bug is a deal-breaker.
Exactly what I want Simple and intuitive podcast manager. Easy to use. So much better than iTunes was.
Easy to use, but some podcasts have glitches
This is beautiful. I love this app. I've transfered from so many podcast apps to another, and then I found this. It downloads episodes fast and clear, have a wide variety of podcasts to listen to, and has great UI. I'd give you ten stars, but I can't. Keep up the amazing work! :D
Good Nice app need option to hide status bar on video playback.
Simple and clean of bloats
Best simple interface but.. You should add 3 features... 1) Easier reordering to Playlist... You only have move to top move to bottom.. We need manual reordering... 2) Per episode image. You only have per podcast image but if the episode does have unique photo then u can't see it 3) Show episode info not just episode title... :-( Otherwise perfect
Can't use automation Any chance of bringing back storage limit feature?
Excellent Player I listen to a LOT of podcasts, and this app is my favorite one to use while doing so. It does everything that I want it to do in a clean format that I can navigate with ease.
One of my podcasts stopped loading Love this app. But one of my podcasts after over a year without issues now says 'unable to load'. Please advise
Almost perfect This is an excellent podplayer it is logically organized and provides all needed functions with ease. The problem is I like video podcasts and the program has a couple of bugs handling these. When the video comes to the end it just freezes and doesn't go onto the next one. And though you have watched the whole video its only marked 47% I don't have these problems with audio p.c here. Fix it and heck I would pay for it. This is the player others should be like.
Great, but... The update to Marshmallow broke the display of the lock screen, which is a bit sad, but it is still the best podcast app out there imho
Great free podcast manager A lightweight podcast manager with Chromecast support for free? Can't beat it!
I've been using this app for years, and it has never failed me. Occasional bugs here and there, but they're quickly fixed.
The best It's the best player I have found
Won't update podcasts Periodically podcasts will update the new episodes.
Great Podcaster for general use. Have used it for about 2 years, and it has been very reliable.
Better as the Apple podcast app
Working well now The 'audio busy' bug from the last update is gone and podkicker is back to being is usual competent self.
The best there is Don't know of any other podcast app thats even close
Simple and works I have been using for about 2 years and see no reason to try any others
Easiest podcast app for Android. And the developers actually fix annoying things instead of just pointlessly upgrading cosmetics.
Amazing app Been using it for years... Has everything I want
Butter This app strokes me nice every day, two times a day. I always leave satisfied. True.
Exactly what I was looking for Simple and to the point.
Great UI All you need for free !
Great layout, responsive and easy to use player. Interface is much cleaner than with other alternatives. Developers are also exceptionally quick to fix bugs.
Love it! Works great love this app. I listen to podcasts all day every day.
Perfect! Awesome new update!!
It doesn't play the last bit/half Is it some of free version thing or? It just never plays the entire thing, and there's no way to make it.
Great App This app was everything the description promised, fast, simple, and intuitive. It only took a few minutes to get up and running, and I had no problem finding and subscribing to my favorite podcasts. Best of all, it worked perfectly with TalkBack. Highly recommended.
Storage Needs some kind of browser to choose storage location. Cannot get any path I type to access a folder on my memory card. Eating up internal memory like billyo
Battery optimization If you are using Android 6, turn off battery optimization on this app or it will not work properly when the screen is off
Says can't open no storage location? I have internal storage and I can't even open the app I even reinstalled and didn't fix this issue.
Frustrated!! Normally love using podkicker but I haven't been able to listen to any of my favorite podcasts. There's always an error now. Please fix so I can rate 5 stars again.
Very basic No widget, which is a deal breaker for me
I keep regressing, it keeps asking to be refreshed... After the last update, I keep seeing the "needs refresh" prompt in my first tab. I also can't unsubscribe from a podcast I tried and didn't like (in fact, hated). It keeps showing up as one I'm subbed to. I don't want to switch podcasters, but this is getting frustrating. ?
Great app for podcasts The suggestions are good, and it has chromecast support, thanks
Mediocre player, crashes all the time since latest update
I really like the way Podkicker is organized and has a lot of customization and automation (you can choose when it updates on charge every day/hour etc, restrict it from using mobile data and many other settings). I'm having a problem with it on my Galaxy s5 though. When I take my earbuds out if I press the play button again on the lock screen too soon it stops playing after a few seconds (almost like it registered that the earbuds were removed twice) and I have to press the play button again. I'm not sure if there's a forum I could check or a place where I could submit a bug report.
Nice but I enjoy it but it would be better if it let you play podcasts when it's refreshing. You can't even play a downloaded podcast while it's refreshing...
Love it Simple and easy to use. Does what it says and no more. Have been using it for years.
Thanks I can get everything I want
Stopped working Have been using and loving this app for ages and I have the most recent version of Podkicker, but my phone just updated to Marshmallow and now nothing plays. I just get a "no wifi" error message instead of hearing any of the hundreds of podcasts I've downloaded.
Problem with calls and microphone When i accept a call or turn on the microphone to my Samsung Galaxy S6 phone the podcast continues to play interrupting the call. With my Galaxy S4 I did not have this problem now I'm thinking about changing podcast applications.
By far the best podcast app out there but... ...the automation for refreshing podcasts doesn't work and it would be nice to be able to save the downloaded podcast episodes to SD card. They are the only complaints I have. I've tested a *lot* of podcast apps and this one is the best by far.
Storage hog No matter what I do or how many podcasts I erase, this this ends up eating gigs and gigs of space and I don't know why. I have it set to auto erase when I finish but every week it's the same issue.
Simple UI; It's got what I need Got it to play Giantbomb's premium (authenticated) feed: settings for a podcast lets you toggle on password and you enter username and password instead of trying to encode them in the URL. The UI is more streamlined than my previous favourite (Podcast Addict). Not sure it's better yet, but so far so good. Ads are not near playback controls. Uses the fewest permissions possible! Great app.
Liked until... I was planning on rating 5 stars and raving about this app,but then election season hit and i was appalled to hear a hillary Clinton ad for the first 30 seconds of my podcasts. Im not taking a side politically either way at all. Truthfully,I'm a convicted felon and can't vote so i don't care.but i don't like Surprise political ads of any kind in my products. I am deleting and forgetting this app. Im very disgusted.
Recent update ruined app Used to be fantastic but the recent update RUINED podkicker! All my downloads are gone, organization is confusing...terrible...I'm looking for a new app!
Simply full-featured It has everything I want and there was no "figuring it out" phase. Why is Stitcher so complicated?
Use to be great This app used to be amazing but after the update my podcasts now become corrupted and will speed up like they're being fast-forwarded
This is great I use this app exclusively for all of my podcasts. This would be a five star review, however, there's no way to enter a new password for my password-protected podcasts. If a podcast updates their password for premium content, I have to unsubscribe, then re-subscribe to enter the new password. Fix that, and it's perfect.
Amazing! Keep coming back to this Player. Intuitive, Compact, and Extensive list of podcasts. You can't find a better player period. Ads are minimal and unobtrusive. Well done sirs, well done!
Chromecast is broken When I cast it keeps playing through the phone speakers. Chromecast says "no media selected" inside the app. Great app other than that.
Used to work perfectly. Not any more Now download speeds are painfully slow. Constantly errors out on downloads.
Using for years/recent issues Since the marshmallow update my podcasts have been skipping backwards....10-15 seconds...throughout the entire episode. Super annoying. Please fix.
Freezing after recent update I have been using this for years and it has been great but it has been freezing after the recent update.
Used this for years and it was fine. Now it rarely saves the position when interrupted by text messages or calls.
weird behaviour from time to time changes half my subscriptions to the same random podcast, but as it keeps the automatic actions for the feed it starts downloading all of the episodes. very annoying.
Podcast always jumping The podcast always jump back and forwards, making it impossible to listen.
Getting better all the time Very simple and easy to use. I would give it 5 stars if storage limit worked.
Random stops. Stops playing podcasts every other time. Cannot figure out why.
Only plays 5 mins or so and stops It's seems since the last andriod update podkicker only plays for about 5 mins and then stops.
No more espn!!!!! All my favorite podcasts were from espn and now they won't play or download!! No explanation either! Simply awful!
Save to sd card and sound equalizer would be nice but I always go back to this app if I try any other!
Great Awesome app used it everyday for a couple of years, the only thing I don't like is the "find episodes" feature because it does not work.
Playlist stops playing and does not move onto the next track Playlist stops playing and does not move onto the next track
Best podcast app so far I tried a few others, but finally always end up with this old fella.
Great podcast app Great app, especially because it's free. Really easy to use and good options. I've been using it for years and love it.
Reliable Pretty good player but where'd the controls go? Tough to tell what's going on when not inside the app.
Works most of the time Podkicker not working with Chromecast V1 on Nexus 5 with latest OS update
I would've loved to keep it, bit the podcasts never save their place and I just can't deal with that
Powerful search Powerful search (web, RSS, itunes) and easy to use. Best pod app I've found.
Amazing! Best podcast app out there, if you don't have it you should ?
My most used app All my faves on my phone for when I drive, exercise, work, etc
Simple. Great Simple to track latest episodes across many subscriptions. Download list doubles as playlist. Awesome.
Good stuff! How can I submit a Podcast to you?
Great! Especially with Prestissimo!
Used to work This app used to be my absolute favorite thing about owning a smart phone. This week I must say saddens me because updates have made this app a terribly useless piece of freezing, pausing, ill working rubbish. Oh well, uninstalling and back to looking for a good podcast app again.
