The Atlas of Living Australia (Atlas) is a national initiative to bring together rich information about Australian plants, animals, fungi and microorganisms, and make it publicly available online. The Atlas contains over 30 million occurrence records from a wide range of sources, as well as species pages, photos, distribution maps and mapping tools, national species lists, identification keys, heritage literature, and more.

It is a partnership between all Australian museums, herbaria and biological collections, CSIRO and the Commonwealth Government to help build a clearer picture of Australian biodiversity for researchers and managers, in fact anyone who would like to know more about the living world, identify species or understand their distribution. It’s easy to add your own sightings and photos to the Atlas and help to increase our knowledge and understanding of Australian biodiversity.

This application allows users to retrieve lists of species recorded within an area, and to view details of the species such as recorded distribution, scientific name, common names and images. It also allows users to submit species occurrence records with an image to the Atlas of Living Australia, and to view the latest images added to the Atlas.

Brilliant Resource The only app for Australia of this kind based on the brilliant Atlas of Living Australia Resource. The new update makes the app far more user friendly. One thing I would like to see is plants included in the results for area exploration which I'm fairly sure used to be included. Otherwise a brilliant resource and would recommend for anyone in the environmental science, ecology or biology fields as well as naturalists of any experience.

Explore your area option Not Functioning properly. Explore your area option does not show any results. When I do a search for species in an area on the map....I keep getting No Results.

The record upload system is not allowing me to log into my ALA account. The record upload system is not allowing me to log into my ALA account. That prevents the record capture subsystem from working.

My new favorite app Love the Explore Species function

Ian Hollingsworth

Vegetation The vegetation records could be stsndardised or linked to a standard databse

Pamela Box

I had enjoyed it but right now it's not working. It can't find anything at all in my area, which I know is false as I've used this app many times.

Michael Scroggie

OK app, but could be better Won't let me submit records without a photo. It's not always possible to photograph birds etc that you might only catch a glimpse of, but still be very confident of ID.

Des Wingfield

App does not work. There are no living things in my area. Sezrches do not producd any results. Crap. Uninstalling

Shawn Hood
