Great Outliner with Dropbox sync to Treepad Well designed, user friendly. Great that can sync with Fargo. Would be much better if 1. Allows basic formatting eg bold, underlining, Markdown format 2. Recognize url to launch browser 3. Customisable # of notes lines visible. 4. Star (favorites) specific outline-better management 5. Copy Subtree & Paste in single step 6. Some " and , showing up as ? in Treepad even when default western character set chosen in Outliner when file synced via Dropbox making Treepad unusable.
Okay... Good is that you can enter new items quickly. Bad is you need to reselect the outline you were working on every time you reload the app. For me, the bad outweighed the good. :/
Fantastic Fantastic app. Worth buying the pro version. The sync options alone make working with this app my favorite note-taking, list-making, project-managing go to app on my Note 4.
Good, basic outliner Functions are fairly easy to use. Good to have an import/export feature.
Outliner Pro Outline software compatible with Treepad and many other products. To give you an idea of how important this is to me, I consider it my most valued app, so much that I wouldn't buy a smartphone without a similar app. I have found this to be an excellent product which meets my needs.
great app - future? great little app, works like a charm. any chance on adding listpro to the import function?
Great app. Easy editing, updating, reordering lists, ... I have tried at least 10 apps for notes taking, lists making, ... This is best.
An Excellent Outliner This outliner combines ease of use and good functionality with a well presented user interface. The free version has no ads so it's worth checking out first but I recommend the Pro version for the extra features and to support the developer. The HTML export is useful for tree printing as it lends itself to easy formatting using CSS, and the backup system is good for keeping your data safe. Dev continues to improve it with updates.
Very good app, 5 stars
A great outliner I use it every day. Smooth syncing with dropbox.
This app is excellent Does what I expected and more :)
Best thought Outliner - great The best app for outlining thoughts, and I have tried many. Ideal for preliminary listing and rearranging thoughts as they occur, prior to production of a speech or an article on a larger pc screen; particularly if you prefer tabular lists rather than mindmapping bubbles. It uses a List form like google tasks with indents for sub “tasks”, but unlike Google Tasks, minor headings can be collapsed into the main headings for easy rearranging. Pro version syncs to a pc and back, using Dropbox and Treepad, or Bonsai and its files can be “shared” in OPML format allowing direct input to Scrivener and similar (the paid version of Treepad uses fewer steps). The only fault I have encountered is easily overcome. If a file is not synced to Dropbox on creation it refuses to subsequently sync unless another task (even an empty one) is added and simultaneously synced. Years ago I used Thought Manager on a palm pilot and PC and this is the only similar combination I have found. Well done – great program.
Long ago I used an outliner on Palm... Now I have even more functionality on my Android! I love this app! I found myself with a question for Freddy, and he responded to my question super fast. I am using the dropbox sync to share outlines between my phone and my wifes phone. It works perfectly! Thanks for the fast support Freddy!
Feature Request Please consider accommodating the following features: Double tap an item to add a sibling; 3 taps for adding a child; waiting for the long-press menu and then finding one of these two mostly used functions in there is just too slow/distracting. | Slide left/right on an item in the 'move' mode to un/indent. Thank you!
Extra mile customer service! Used Bonsai on Palm for over a decade and had 275+ outlines. Developer walked the extra mile supporting and handholding me through the successful import process.
Need a Urgent Refresh It's good but need a urgent refresh
Good ap but not a replacement for MLO, much more powerful. Maybe has one advantage: can see notes directly on the outline, a bit like the MS Word outline.
Treepad user Thanks for updating this excellent app.
Useful for structure to your note making
Fantastic! Best android outliner available! and getting better with each release. All that is missing for me is password protection. Always got a fast response from the developer.
Does NOT work with TreePad imports! I really wanted to use this to put my TreePad files on my android. However, all you get is thousands of lines of gobble-De-Gook! Really disappointing.
Doesn't work with Treepad I've tried repeatedly, but I only get error messages when I try to import outlines from Treepad.
Excellent App - Excellent Service As a a writing outliner user for 20 years. I was looking for an Android outliner to use on my next book. The ability to sync with my PC Desktop was essential. Outliner is that app! It syncs perfectly with my TreePad outlines using Dropbox and is both complex enough to meet my requirements and easy enough get up to speed on quickly. I emailed a couple of questions and received an almost instantaneous reply from the developer - simply astonishing service. Recommended without reservation or qualification. It does everything that it says it will do!
Outstanding! This outlining app is perfect for my needs. It allows me to maintain a fairly complex outline on my Android device but then work with the same outline on my Mac using OmniOutliner. Syncing is done using the built-in Dropbox support. Like others have mentioned, the technical support is also excellent. The tutorial file is great but I had a question about importing OPML files. I emailed the developer and got a response right away with everything I needed to know to make it work.
Right balance of Easy -To-Use & Versatility. Reordering list items is especially easy.
Needs drag & drop An app without being able to drag items to sort them seems outdated. Also, integration with Google was in the works but seems to have dropped off. That's what I'm waiting for...
Excellent Outliner I have used Treepad for years. The app does exactly what it is advertised to do and the Treepad - Dropbox sync is faultless. This app definitely deserved it's 5 stars.
Excellent outliner Does exactly what I want it to do. When I was confused about a particular feature (I didn't read all the tutorial), I sent an email to the developer and got a rapid reply describing in detail how to accomplish what I was trying to do. I bought the pro version almost immediately after trying it out; it's definitely worth it.
Great Bonsai replacement Finally a reason to leave my palmTX. Bought the pro 5 min after playing & reading the reviews. I'd like to be able to change the notes font in the view and to have a Bonsai style task with percentage of completion please. While it can import Bonsai OTL file, ability to directly import Bonsai PDB file will also be very much welcome as I seldom use Bonsai desktop.
Great app, but sneaky This is one of the best to outliners I've seen, i highly recommend it... And recommend that you go right to the pro version.
Les Always a pleasure to use a program that does exactly what it advertizes and is simple to use. I transferred from my Galaxy S2 to my S4 and had a problem (eventually found out the SD Card was corrupted) Contacted help and got rapid and useful advice, suggestions and a solution. I have rarely been as well treated by an online organization. Thanks you earned your 5 stars.
Had free ver. on phone 2 yrs & didn't use at all, but RUNS ITSELF almost 24/7, can't stop, uses 1.6mb, constantly in task killer, uninstalled. NSA?
Perfect for my needs Lots of list-making apps are available, many of them more "modern" in style. None, though, are as useful as "Outliner" for reusable lists such as packing lists, equipment maintenance checklists, punchlists of all sorts, inspection items, etc. The pro version provides cloud syncing through Dropbox. It's a great app. If you need bling more than functionality, this isn't for you. If you want a reliable workhorse, use "Outliner".
Excellent request: 1) undo 2) enter to focus on new node
Superb Well it's taken a LONG time for Android to catchup to Palm in the outliner field, but with this app it has finally been achieved! Bonsai for PalmOS was the benchmark and now I finally have a suitable replacement. The developer is also very helpful and a good communicator. I couldn't be happier.
Great app for those who love outlines! The app is very flexible and does exactly what it promises. And the developer is very responsive.
Add a one page annotated helpful For the lazy ones, one annotated helpful in addition to/instead of the current thorough guide will do magic! Great app!
Best organizational tool Have not yet found a better organizer. Let's you think naturally. Highly recommended.
Nice and effective The first application of such kind for Android
Beautiful, but... Without russian localisation OUTLINER lost 90% attractivity for me
Michael - when cyrillic will fixed, you can use import-export for sync. I like this app 4 no permissions. 4 developers - Please add color settings.
Good program, but: Export-import crashes russian fonts! Please fix it! Add "add child" option in menu. Add sync with Desktop.
Well designed, user friendly. Great that can sync with Fargo. Would be much better if 1. Allows basic formatting eg bold, underlining, Markdown format 2. Recognize url in Activity Name (it does in Activity notes now) 3. Customisable # of notes lines visible. 4. Star (favorites) specific outline-better management 5. Copy Subtree & Paste in single step 6. Some " and , showing up as ? in Treepad even when default western character set chosen in Outliner when file synced via Dropbox making Treepad unusable.
Would like to sync with Google I love the overall format here the most, but I'd really love it if I could sync with Google
Powerful! And easy to use. Great app!
Missing critical export function As with many other outliners, this is missing the straight forward ability to export an outline to pdf (while maintaining structure). Html is ok, but pdf is universal for viewing, import, export, and printing. Paid 5.00 for app, still faced with this same issue, disappointed.
Getting pretty good My favourite since Shadow Plan (Palm/Treo) has been Carbon Fin Outliner (iOS only). But this is getting real close to letting me drop that.
Super cool, but please add few more features... Absolutely the best in its genre, btw kindly give the option to export the outline as Pdf. Also add the option to select/ mark the bullets (adjacent to the subtree of activity) for mass operation like deleting and moving in bulk...
This app transforms my Androids into powerful tools for developing ideas.. I've been using it for several years now and am continually impressed by the ease of use and the expanding feature set. And the developer gives great support!
Outstanding Outliner! It is still being worked on to make it better, but it is already the best one available that works the way I do, and the free version comes WITHOUT ADS, and NO LIMITS TO THE SIZE of the outlines. The PRO key is only $5.00, and worth every penny, as it gives me the ability to move an activity from one outline to another, and I want to help out the developer, Alfred Fritz. He has been incredibly helpful answering my many questions. Other apps of this kind want to charge a monthly service fee.
Outlining with sync to pc - wonderful! I love outlines as a way to organize information, and I want to access and update that info on both my smartphone and my pc. This, with the pro add-on, does both. It may take a little work to learn how to use it fully, but it's worth it. (I use Treepad on my pc, and Dropbox to sync the data back and forth.)
Really a must-have Been using it since I got a smartphone
Ingenious and well designed app!
Oh wow TreePad is the best.
Very cool Very cool
I'll call this one 'okay'. I'm looking desperately for a replacement for 'Shadowplan', the phenomenal outliner / planning tool for PalmOS, and this falls pretty far short. As a simple outliner / todo list / note tracker, it functions. The interface is extremely simplistic (to the point of 'dull'), and I found myself many times looking t screens going "I have no idea what to do here.". No inline help, no assist, not much more than a series of linked screens. For example, the Todo list has a 'ball' on the left - which does nothing, but there's a 'slider' on the right that reorders tasks. Why aren't these things combined? I could not figure out how to make a child task, even though the 'tutorial' has that displayed prominently. I'll keep an eye on this, but right now, I'll keep hunting for a better outliner / task manager.
Good, but... It's the best approximation of the famous ShadowPlan outliner I could find. I recommend to have good look at the functionality of that. A request: five stars if you implement the Android search API, like EverNote and the very good app MyLifeOrganized (MLO) do. Then we can find back our info without having to guess in which app we put it!
Does what it should, and then some. Edit: Didn't know how to operate my own stupid phone. Wasn't the app's fault. Outliner is an efficient app that has good functionality, I just wish syncing my outlines as an OPML file wasn't weird and inconsistent. Half the time it says import failed (even though it wasn't an import), and that the OPML could not be found. It eventually works if I modify an outline, then try to sync it again.
Solid, versatile, minimalist note keeper/task manager/brain dump TreePad! Finally reunited! First thing I teach for throughout the work day, at home, and any time creative inspiration needs an outlet. Other popular apps like Evernote were to cumbersome for my needs. Fits me like a glove! Well worth the purchase price.
Brilliant. Period. Takes the place of Tasks, Notes, and many other applications. No ads. Minimal permissions requested. This one is a keeper.
The first for android and great This app started out as quite basic and is still growing in functionality. Pro features are worth the little extra. Could do with more cloud sync options such as Google drive as only currently syncs with Dropbox. Also a means for customer feedback in app or at least from the blog would be good. I found this when looking for a replacement for carbonfin when I moved from ios to android. It now exceeds carbonfin in features. Keep it up! Your app is great!
Works like a charm Nice that the pro version syncs with other apps on the Mac.
Outliner An indispensable tool that helps to track any number of goals, tasks, projects, etc.
Great app. NEEDS Dark mode Really like the app. Get dark theme and I will buy right away.
Good app I would consider purchasing the pro app if you offered a print option.
5 star if there's an option to sync via Google Drive!!
Annoying Love treepad, just cannot bear with outliner which makes it like a checklist. No checklist pls! It should be a collection of notes
Like it so far I used others similar before and found this one better, move down/up of sub task is great, thing i hardly find in other similar but paid version. Thanks so much
Extremely useful and well-designed. Fills all the holes of Google Tasks, while being easier to use.
No Hide Completed There's no way to hide completed items.
useful and reliable
Awesome Best outline app I've used since the old PalmOS days. Syncs well between phone and tablet. Lots of options and flexibility.
Functional but quite basic features Needs undo feature & more levels colours please. Also, too many manual steps in importing files into the app desktop
One of my two ESSENTIAL apps! There are only TWO reasons I need a tablet, and this is one of them! I have been using and following the development of this app for some time, and I must commend the developer for a job very well done. He does not rush upgrades out to market without thorough testing, and as a result his product is very stable, functional, and compact. Too many apps today are bloated with spaghetti code that adds nothing to value but makes them slow and unwieldy; this is NOT one of them. I highly recommend this app!
Still An Excellent Outliner Been using since Feb 2015 and still going strong. Outliner combines ease of use and good functionality with a well presented user interface to provide an excellent hierarchical notepad. Scheduling is basic but useful. Free version has no ads but Pro version is good value for the extra features and to support the developer. HTML export is handy for tree printing as it lends itself to easy formatting using CSS, and the backup system is good for keeping your data safe. Updates continue to improve this app.
Extremely Useful I can import all my hjt files from windows on laptop to my BlackBerry Passport. Wouldn't leave home without it.
Excellent but needs a few critical changes (1) Menu item help, including creating new outlines. Some options (I forget which ones) preclude some features like moving an outline by flicking it up or right, etc. (2) Export a specific outline doesn't work but has no help, explanation or documentation. (3) Suggested improvements to both the free & paid versions that are needed if author wants to be rated at the top. Example: how to move a top-level outline to become a child of another one.
Google Drive sync please!!! 5 star if there's an option to sync via Google Drive for easier & more sync options!! What's the problem???
Hyperlink I want web link added on note
Lost my data It wiped out all of my data. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I'm now looking for a tool that can present a nice collapsible outline view while storing in a standard non proprietary format (eg, text, docx, etc).
Excellent App! This app easily replaced the outdated ListPro and became the end of the Ipaq genre for me. Would like to see text editing and even adding pictures but, hey, who am I to quibble when I know nothing on how hard it is to make an app! Excellent export functions makes it easy to retain my important data to sync with TreePad. I mean so far, I can't complain compared with the other options out there.
great support Really great app. But, the support is fantastic. The developer works very hard to give you solutions to what you need. The pro version is a must if you need to have on multiple devices and need to have sync.
Re-review So I was really liking this app, even purchased the pro version. Had my data wiped out and even though I had sync with Dropbox working, after a clean install there is no restore from Dropbox option, only an option to restore from an SD card. Not sure why restore from Dropbox is not available...
Love the app! I use this app for almost everything. But I hope for a way to organize the outlines itself, such as using it's own collapsible system or folders. Overall, amazing!
Good outlining functions especially for long notes. Primary weakness is that files cannot be grouped or organized, just a list sorted alphabetically which if it gets long is cumbersome.. Option is to export to Treepad and organize those files on PC...but it's just a tedious workaround... App shows promise but needs further development.. I'll hold onto it and see what develops...
Great Outliner This is an app I use on my phone, and sync with Omnioutliner on my MAC via Dropbox. Support from the developer is very good, which is needed when you want to do something a little different. Overall a great app for quick outlines that can be finished on your PC.
Every Day Useful App! Been using for years, pro user, great free support via email. 5 stars if add ability to create next item as "child" or "parent" when saving item with 'OK+Next' (it creates next item on same level, but can sort afterwards). Have detailed notes on multiple subjects. Have syncs to my home network drive or to dropbox for a grocery list I share w my wife. Can sync to multiple devices locally w FolderSync app, and edit outlines on a PC with Jreepad. Warning: Treepad truncates your notes so use Jreepad instead.
Does it save online? I use it to write a novel with the skeletical outline, but I'm worried I might simply lose everything if something happens with my phone
Cannot get schedule from all tasks. To get todo list one must choose which project and cannot chose all. Cannot attach photos to task.
