Who are Anquet?

Anquet have over 10 years of experience creating digital mapping software for outdoor enthusiasts. It’s all we do, and we do it well if we judge that by the number of group test wins our PC software has won over the years.

With OMN Android we set out to build a tool you will use.
Serious navigation requires serious tools. We know that. If you can’t fire up OMN Android and depend on it, then you won’t entrust your navigation to it. OMN Android has rock solid performance.

Anquet Cloud

You want to plot your route on a large screen with a mouse. You want to navigate with your phone. So you need the data in two places, and you want that movement of data to just happen. Anquet Cloud makes things simple. No wires, no moving SD cards around, no websites.

Fire up OMN PC, and draw a route. Hit the Route Sync button, and that route is now on your Anquet Cloud account. Inside OMN Android, hit Route Sync, and it’s on your phone. Simple.

Wherever you have a 3G or Wifi data connection you can sync your route data and download maps from your Anquet Cloud account.

New phone? No problem, just download OMN Android, login with your email and password and download your routes and maps.

OMN PC is a free PC application. Please visit to download the application. Use it to purchase maps, plot routes and sync it all to Anquet Cloud for use on your Android device.

Seamless maps

OMN maps on all platforms are seamless. Buy two maps that overlap, or simply just touch, and they will just merge in your data. No need to load a different map, or see any gaps. You can therefore also just buy the mapping you need now, as you can add to it anytime you wish.

Anquet Community

Please note that map files can be large downloads, so please be aware of your 3G tariff if you choose to download over the phone network as opposed to Wifi.

Pros and cons In comparison to alternatives I have (Backcountry Navigator, OS mapfinder, viewranger, Mytrails etc) : Pros - can store offline maps on SD card; interface above average, symbiosis with PC program makes map purchase easier; easy to know which maps you have bought; HD maps are nice. Can print them out. Cons: can't import or export tracks into OMN from other sources except via PC; have to manually switch to between 1:25k to 1:50k map (and any other map) as you zoom in and out of which is a bit fiddly; can't buy maps via android so have to do it via PC; track recording and display a bit basic. Overall, better than others for OS maps, and my current best option in UK. I prefer Mytrails in France eg with IGN or free mapping, especially if you have 3/4g there. Mytrails has lost access to OS mapping, sadly.

OMN Outdoor Map Navigation Been using this app for over 12 months as such it has had a lot of use. Extremely pleased with my purchase very functional and great to use. Little bit of a learning curve. Would not be without it. About six of my friends have taken the plunge and purchased. All very pleased with it. Highly recommended. You won't be dissapointed.

Peter Boon

OMN maps Love this app. Work out routes on my PC or download them from my walking group's web site and then sync them to my Galaxy S5. One point: have to use phone's internal storage and this means 7.8 GB of 16 GB storage taken up. Cant work out how to get maps to display on external sd card. Tip: always use phone or tablet in flight mode as this will save loads of battery life.

Arthur Fincham

Useless outside UK and France? Unless I am missing something there are no maps available outside UK and France.

Nigel Webber

Not bad, but clunky UI that does not adhere to any of Googles UI guidelines Works, but pretty clunky in use - for instance, the menu button on the phone does not bring up the menu. Fails to adhere to googles guidelines re UI design. One thing that would make this very useful is the ability to print. Simple printing is fine, just let me get what I want to print within an A4 style window on screen, then hit a button. Google cloud print is fine, or enable export to PDF, and hence printing via HP ePrint (which works locally direct to non ePrint printers on same LAN too). Or, better still implement share-with and list HP ePrint/Google Cloud print as targets. Ditto sharing of route on social media.

Will Chapman

Without a doubt the mapping app of choice I have been using Anquet's mapping system for several years and am a regular contributor to their beta program. The skill and dedication of the UK-based development team is exceptional and for that reason alone, the cost of this app is a bargain. Be aware, however, that Anquet's OMN (Outdoor Mapping System) only shows its real utility when you buy some of the OS maps that go with the system - they are not that expensive - roughly the same as buying a paper version of the area you are interested in - but you will soon find that you need more than the standard UK/French maps that come with the system. The range of maps available covers the entire OS collection and more. A huge advantage of the system is that the maps in your portfolio also work on the free version of the software that works on your PC or Mac at home and with that you can print out maps and routes to your hearts desire. Tracking is great, but the one criticism I have is the current lack of being able to add user waypoints on the fly. I am aware that this feature is on the development agenda but in my view, OMN will not be complete until I can record personal key locations and navigate back to them.

Katherine Garda

Pinky Pirate I have used Anquet mapping for a few years and found it to be excellent detailed software...well worth the cost. I have been slow to move from hard copy to android device but having finally taken the leap I have loved it. I love going 'off piste' and it is so wonderful to know where I am and that I am heading in the right direction! A fantastic app that does just what I want....being able to route plan would def be a bonus when it arrives. I have the IGN France maps and want to use this app in France....does the tracking log record as it does with the OS maps??

Stephen Parnell

Brilliant programme, never get lost again I bought my maps several years ago and would plan and print my routes on my PC. Now that I can have my maps and routes on my phone and tablet is the icing on the cake.

Brian Tack

Now my gps of choice! Had a hiccup at first when getting it on my PC. But when it was sorted this system became my number one. And I have tried all the others.

Clive Sinclair

Poor compatibility and functions If you want to create routes 'on' your mobile device, then look elsewhere with this app - you can't. Secondly it says you create routes on your PC - that mean personal computer - no mention of Microsoft Windows only. Yes, it's for Windows PC's only. My personal computer is a Mac and it doesn't work. Yes I maybe should have double checked. But come on a company who doesn't support both platforms should look at it's business model. Slow, old clunky and not very intuitive UI. For example... what is Side loading? You have to delve into the help system to find out. Maps are expensive (as others have said). Overall a poor showing from a company who is supposed to be one of the more well known suppliers of mobile mapping. Having said that none of the other companies offering similar apps are much better. I think detailed mapping/GPS is best left to a dedicated device.

Matt McConway

Really good app It just works. It is expensive but it is ideal for professionals.

Jim Barton

Disappointed Yes, I can use ordnance survey maps, which I love . But I don't find the interface intuitive (and I've been using computers and smartphones since their early days). The 1:25000 maps are very expensive even after recent price cuts, and for walking they are what you really need. It is so frustrating that I end up using open maps in an app. Sadly I picked OMN because I felt the others were worse and more expensive. I'm yet to find a really good app for ordnance survey maps that is affordable.

Mark McLean

Great app If you have any Anquet maps then you should have this on your phone. You can have detailed maps of the whole country in your pocket, plus they have something no paper map will ever have: a "you are here" spot! Note that the maps themselves must be purchased separately.

Dave Barnes

Good maps Good all round map program

Damon Ritchie

Excellent on PC, Nexus 7 and iphone Support is excellent, has been very accurate in mountain conditions on iphone. All maps once downloaded are accessible on all devices once you pay for the app. Wide variety of mapping inc. Harvey maps. Easy to navigate with handy features. Yeah, you have to buy mapping, don't listen to moaners about buying maps! You'll always have to buy maps from every other app and company. If in doubt spend £10 (minimum spend) to cut your own map. Griping about Anquet? U should try Garmin and their pathetic BaseCamp

Dominic Fitzpatrick

Very good If you're serious about navigating in the UK you need OS mapping. Anquet enables this on your Android device. It works well.

Ok so far Haven't bought a map yet. I'm not sure if I have the confidence to ditch my gps yet. The menu buttons are not clear what they do and end up in the wrong page, even after a few days trying.

A Google User

Excellent Mapping Software This is an excellent application. Coupled with the HD OS maps, my Android phone has now become a fully functioning map navigator which I regularly use and impresses me. Yes you do need to buy the maps but the HD digital maps are simply superb. The support from Anquet when I've had the odd issue has been superb. Recommended..

Chris Fell

Much improved Quick GPS fix after update and switching maps easier.

Gaynor Marshall

You get what you pay for I really don't understand some of the negative comments made about this app. Yes, you can get free OS maps for on or offline use with other apps, but none of them even come close to matching the quality of the purchased ones. The HD versions are absolutely stunning and very good value compared to the competition. The app's interface is clean, with the main preparation being done first on the PC. This leaves the mobile device as uncluttered as possible with only the essential features. You can even use your purchased maps on several different mobile devices. This is a well designed system and a very worthy investment. If I was to suggest a new feature it would be to wish for an optional mode that seamlessly switched scales automatically, all the way from the 250k road map, through OS 50k, 25k then street view. That would make a great map browsing feature for those of us who like to read maps like books as well as for their intended use.

Toby Spires

Awful! Hard to use and the app is an interface only. You have to pay for each map and prices are extortionate Awful app! Don't download!!!

nick ford

OMN Battery drain Wonderful software, used on Nexus 7, great to see my position on a high resolution OS map but I recently had to have my tablet replaced because the battery indicator was no longer functioning and the tablet wouldn't charge (wonderful service from Google Play - thank you BTW). This morning I found my new Nexus was completely discharged, having been on stand by all night and the only thing in common with these two events is that I had been running OMN - does it keep using battery resources even when the program is 'not running'? Would upgrade review to 5 stars if this problem is fixed!

Hratch Konialian

A Google user AWFUL !!! Not good at all after downloading no maps available for north America. And no support center. Good luck.

John Dalrymple

This is a good app, but I have support problems with Anquet. This is a good app and goes well with the Desktop version. The only problem I have is that when downloading a set of maps from the Anquet Cloud I have to keep restarting. No huge deal, loading the maps is a one-off exercise, but what is a big deal is that the bug was reported 2nd July and after almost 4 months & 26 requests/responses to requests for information etc. the bug remains. So I'd have to say support is poor.

Andrew Clement

Superb App, but........ This app gets better with every update. I use it regularly in the New Forest National Park, where I have lived most of my life. It's tracking feature enables me to go off the beaten track to discover places I never knew existed. Even on the busiest of days I can go for a walk and not see any other person for hours..... bliss. A negative?..... I would give it a 5 if I were able to plan a route on the app instead of having to wait till I am in front of a PC or laptop with a modern graphics card!

A Google User

Now works really well. Latest version seems to work well. Used in car, when cycling and when hill walking. GPS positioning perfect in all cases.

Mervyn Dowler

Clunky Not as user friendly as it should be. Lost access to index by trying to move the space hungry maps to the sd card. Expensive at £150 for benefits of mapping off-line available much cheaper with other apps on-line. Map downloads take for ever. Looking into this a bit more it may be that the app is now "old" and a bit State of the Ark stuff.

David Johnson

Simply brilliant outdoor map app I have been a user of Anquet software and maps for years and OMN is a big leap forward in my opinion. Easy to use and maps available on my PC are also available on the mobile version. GPS is spot on and has got me out of a few spots in tricky conditions. These guys put in the graft whether in development or support. In this world you get what you pay for and for me OMN means value for money. Excellent work Anquet.

A Google User

I like this Used far more than anticipated. Bit pricey though.

Howard Anderson

This is only a very simple map viewer. The only reason to buy it would be to get the licenced maps, as a means of planning routes, tracks, waypoints, points of interest etc. the facilities are very limited, even crude. One is supposed to sync with the cloud to manage this user data but when this system fails or is not available, there is nothing provided. The Anquet insistence on the use of the cloud is a city-dwellers system, one completely unsuitable when away from a network connections. Use Oziexplorer instead.

diana brighouse

Is it possible to bypass sign-in screen. I've just bought this, and the supported Anquet OS maps for SE England (very good price at £15). I was encouraged by everything that I've read so far. However, I ave just written to the app developers about a major (in my opinion) drawback. Each time you open the app you have to sign in with email and password. If using the app on a phone you are unlikely to leave it on permanently because of battery life. Equally it is a pain (especially in winter with gloves etc) to have to sign in each time you want to c

Martin Foster

A confusing system Android version seems to work well but I had problems with PC version. Turned out to be a misunderstanding about the way it worked. It is very confusing having V06, OMN-PC and the Android version all working differently. Support was very poor initially but did improve. When it does work it is excellent.

Excellent Tool Used this since the Beta versions and it is a good map tool, It has improved with every release. Please note this is not Free map software, You have to buy licensed OS maps that you can view on your device or PC. These are then available even when there is no network Access. GPS Accuracy is about 1.4 meters on my One x.

Dan Shears

Needed1 big improvement and the devs have done it. Brilliant stuff, thanks guys. Review updated to 5 stars as promised! PLEASE let us zoom further out! Would make this app 100 times better and worthy of 5 stars.

Duncan Jones

Good Used a few times out and about, handy to have a selection of maps on the go.

Bill Roberts

Very poor on Nexus 7 I've used the PC version for many years, and was expecting big things from the Android version. Installed it, plus a selection of maps, and found the "Find Place" function doesn't work. Customer support no help - first contacted them nearly two months ago, and still no resolution. So the only way to find a location is to scroll through the map - absolutely impossible! Also, if you have maps on your PC, you have to download them all again for your Android device (not small downloads!) - and even worse, if you have two Android devices, you have to download them all TWICE! I've now uninstalled it, and switched to using ViewRanger - far better, and the app is free (can also be used with OSM maps, and the purchased OS maps are cheaper than the Anquet offerings). And purchased maps can be supplied on DVD. I would give Anquet a minus star rating if I could.

Don Dempsey

Absolute rubbish generates a load of expectation and doesn't deliver! I have been an Anquet fan from the early day's when the developers were keen enthusiasts. I do understand the need to make money but that objective has overtaken the desire to deliver a quality product

A Google User

I use anquet on my pc...have done for years, now I can plan routes on the pc and sync them to my phone. I have the whole of the UK os maps on the phone so no signal required...note maps cost extra. OK, I've just dropped from 5 to 3 stars. Why? Well, in my view you shouldn't have to have a degree in computing to configure OMN to store the maps on an SD card! There are articles on the support site attempting to explain how to do it which I figured out after an hour or so. To me, the app should be environment aware. It should be able to cope with different versions of Android and their quirks.

Paul Lawrenson

OMN Outdoor Map Navigation goes from strength to strength Been using this app for over 12 months as such it has had a lot of use. Extremely pleased with my purchase very functional and great to use. About six of my friends have taken the plunge and purchased. All very pleased with it. Highly recommended. You won't be dissapointed. Still very pleased with OMN, every time I use it I'm impressed. Always take a hard copy of the route that I printed. Very pleased with being able to add distance locators onto the map route.

Rick Heath

Completely unusable Crashes after about 10 seconds every time app is launched. Would give it a zero star rating if I could!

shu pillinger

Should be seriously clever if I could figure out how to use it. Beautifully simple - no way. Clearly built by techies with an appalling user interface. The app interface is totally incomprehensible - it isn't user friendly to work out the button navigation or how to load a route from the cloud. I managed it by accident, but now can't repeat the steps. Syncing isn't immediate. I've lost maps and routes in the cloud somewhere.

Ben Everett

It runs pretty smoothly, but the search is very slow and there is no option to drop a pin / add a point of reference.

Gordon Paxton-White

Outstanding Use it almost every day, never failed. OMN can be a fiddle sometimes but overall thoroughly worth the cost. Recommended.

Chris W

Will not load a map. It just sticks on "loading map tiles". Useless garbage that hasn't been updated in over a year. Uninstalled.

Richard Hill

Value OS mapping Playing around with Android as contemplating the jump from iOS. I had the basic, costly but quite polished OS Mapfinder on iPhone and this looks a good alternative (especially as I cannot get the OS product to work!). With the addition of kinetic scrolling and more importantly the view to continually draw as you move & scale this would be a real killer app. Portability of the purchased data over different platforms makes this quite a compelling purchase if you have more than one operating system.

Stephen moore

Crashes The app crashes regularly and I keep having to reload using valuable data

Rob Ward

Excellent Been using Anquet for years in various forms, this app works very well.

Rick Heath

Completely unusable Crashes after about 10 seconds every time app is launched. Would give it a zero star rating if I could! An update - the app works & I even managed to work out getting it to save maps to external SD Card. But at the rate it is going it will take me about a decade to re download maps onto the device - I have to keep cancelling downloads, quit the app & start again. Still "null points" from me!

Mike Lumbard

Great app Perfect for hill walks with the cadets.

Stephen Withers

Why is it so complex? I'm not a computer ace by any means but I'm not a numbskull either - when I import a .gpx track file into the windows application, and sync to the cloud, I assume the track file should be available on the Android app? Then why can't I find it? I'm clearly doing something wrong, but I've no idea what! On the plus side, good maps, the basics work well on my PC and phone.

Harold Cataquet

Poor ui What I'd like to do is open the app and instantly see where I am on a map I've previously purchased. It's not capable of doing this, and that is so annoying that I regret having purchased the app and all the HD maps. Even worse, having opened the correct map, OMN can't locate me. It tells me there is no GPS signal, but Google maps has no problem. Even with an active wifi signal, location is poor... Frustrating to say the least.

Kk Twenty

Crazy system Short: Dont bother unless it is very cheap (mine was, 12 for hd lake district maps). Longer: Im coming from an old memory map, you installed app and it linked to your account. OMN have 2 accounts (even with same email) one for the shop and one for the app, this was not clear. The token is also ONLY emailed (not online)to unlock in the app. You also cannot install to SD card without knowing the proper path (mine was /storage/extSdCard). Very user unfriendly, im technically minded and i needed to google.

Chris Cornwell

Disappointing (no more) I bought the complete UK maps but cannot download them all because of limited internal space on my Galaxy tab 3. Transferred maps on an sd card are not found by the app. I can download them to my pc but who wants to go walking carrying a laptop? Not incredibly easy to use . . . Update I was contracted by Anquet who suggested a solution that worked. I now have the entire UK maps on my Galaxy tab 3. Maps are excellent quality with only a slight lag between adjacent areas. Excellent customer service.

Graham Harrison

Started crashing recently! The app has started crashing mid track log so now rather than getting an exact route of my journey I get a series of straight lines because the app has crashed and when I reopen it it resumes it's tracking and updates my position and draws a straight line between the two points! Used to love this app but now it's close to garbage unless it gets an update!

Paul Gammidge-Jefferson

Great Friend Would not be without it. In conjunction with the PC version, it is a wonderful tool. Top marks.
