Update...avoid. nothing but ads Since their update, this has become a pay site. There are constant pop-up ads and ads placed throughout the story feed. Plus, about 40% of the stories require a subscription. And that number rises weekly. It's just not worth the trouble anymore. After years of use, I removed the app.

Mark Londergan

Premium stories? I pay for a 7 day a week subscription and now I have to pay to see them on my tablet? I don't think so Sentinel.

Colin Wright

I am paying 4.99 a month. I am hitting a pay wall for about 1/3 of the articles. I thought I was getting complete access. The call center in the Phillipines is totally worthless. They have no record of my account. I have called and e mailed repeatedly with no response. The Orlando Sentinel is a complete joke in print. But, it's the only newspaper available for daily state and local news. Someone pkease help me!

Andy Ussach

New software is worse than original This newer software not only charges for a handful of the articles to be read, it is littered with advertisements. It also is constant opening web pages, and google play to try to get me to download apps, just from scrolling around.

Paul Hextell

Less Content Than Before After installing the new app and subscribing for full digital access I found myself with less available content than the free version I used to enjoy. (Examples: No local news sections, no weather.) Pay for less. Go figure. What is available looks nice, however.

Amy Lucie

Do NOT update! After a FAIL to launch (& having to uninstall/reinstall) I THEN discover that the OS app is no longer free & informative, letting me save articles & search out writers, among other niceties. Now you get "five free premium" stories a MONTH (which you have to register for), but after that, pay up! YOU HOSED US ORLANDO SENTINEL! I've lost all trust in you. We should have been TOLD what the update would do to our beloved app. Maxwell, Bianchi, Kassab, Owens, Diaz, Boas, et al, you're too good for this place.

Jason Cheney

Miss the old app I have read this multiple times daily and have for years on mobile. I agree 100% with what most people are complaining about. The pop ups to the play store continuously that usually force me to go back to the main page. Also that a lot of the sections were removed. I understand charging for premium services since this is about making money, but I better get something better than what is being offered. I might as well just use the browser, or get my local news somewhere else.

Todd B

Keeps getting worse Leave it to the sentinel. They are one of the worst newspapers ever and they're app is even worse. Add after add keeps popping up and blocking the stories. You are forced to watch these adds if you want to read.

Wayne McKeever

Annoying Where did the county news sections, crime, etc go? Good app gone bad.

Daniel McNaughton

Excessive Adverts For Apps Each time an article is opened, I'm redirected to an as for some Android game, open table app, or some other nonsense and have to close it all out each time. Very annoying.

Robert Minichino

If I am paying for a subscription.. Why do I have to wait for a 5 second ad to time out before I can get into reading the news?

Jennifer Gillis

App doesn't work After the update it just force-closes. Fix your app, engineers. Update. The app works now. I won't pay for digit contents, so I'm giving it 4 stars.

Scott Kuhr

New & Improved... & So Much The Better! My only real complaint is that I paid for the subscription service and still get to many ads! For a hard copy newspaper I expect ads. When I pay for app I expect zero ads.

David Rossetti

Ruined a good app Latest update is not user friendly. Its too generic. Also asking for money to view content. Use to read it everyday. Rarely even give it a look now.

Fer Go

New update does not open 12-10-14 issue has been fixed. Thank you for your response and for your assistance! I have updated my review for this App! Thank you again!

Johnny T

Last update ruined it App was okay but now I'm done with it. Last update fills it with full screen ads, and it randomly tries to open my play store multiple times while in articles. Some stories are also now "premium" which require a membership. I'd understand maybe a couple banner ads, but all of this combined...I'll just use the web version

Dominic Greggs

Constant pop-ups and redirecting me to other sites and apps makes reading and browsing a pain and disruptive.

Joshua Cheney

Bad update! Way too many ads. Also can't select news by region anymore. Horrible update.

Robert Petrino

Problem solved As posted by others, if the update isn't working, uninstall the app then install again. Should open. After using this app, I miss the previous version.

A Google User

What a joke Want me to pay for reading the stories? this has been a "B" rated app to begin with and now you want to charge me for it? 1st off you need to send your reporters back to school and teach them proper grammar and spelling....And 2nd...find real headlines.

Andrew Bell

Good Update has improved the quality of the website.

Chaz R

What are they thinking of It appears to me there is a lot more advertisement on the update then before. Just like previous people who have rated it I agree with the fact that Orlando Sentinel is just trying to get more money from you. I personally like the old version better.

Shawn Feldman

New update has ruined app The new update has solved the problems I was having. I also like the new layout for the application.

John Vizzusi

Better than old Fishwrap Lets face it.. the Newpaper biz in America is broke. The Tribune is ancient with old world technology however this upgraded app for The Orlando Sentinel is quite the opposite. Firstly, remove the old app from your system. Now download new app and register or sign in. Go to System App settings, find OS and adjust settings, now open app and adjust setting there as well, notification button etc. It looks like after you read a specific amount of hot stories, you will be charged. You knew this was coming right?

Tom Lundy

New version 12-06-14 It is amazing how stupid this company can be. NO ONE tested this update, not even one time, or they would have found that the new version doesn't launch, except under very limited circumstances. Stupid ... stupid .... stupid ... Call me with a PO for $5k and I'll tell you the work around until you morons can get it fixed.

Richard Armstrong

USELESS Since The Update I finally figured out that to get the new version to work, you have to go into the app settings and first Force Stop and then Delete Data and Cache. With that done I was able to run the app. This new version is COMPLETELY USELESS. No longer can you find Scott Maxwell's column, Ticked Off, or even narrow down the stories to just one county. Those options are now gone. All you can see now are the top stories in the major sections only. I am going back to reading what I WANT in my browser.

Lisa Taylor

Bad since "upgrade" Since it's upgraded, it will not even open. I've tried to uninstall and reinstall. Not working.

Jacob Merrifield

Uninstall old version first Didn't work until I uninstalled (after updating from old version) and reinstalled the new version. If it keeps crashing, give this a try. HTC One M7

Elizabeth James

Works better than before but doesn't have a weather section.

Scott Donaldson

Fixed If you uninstall before updating it will work fine.

Kimberly Dukes-Frink

New update It absolutely will not open after recent update on my Samsung phone.

Stephen Kane

Charging me now ??!! Unbelievable !!! You bait me into thinking the update was going to be great , and then you charge me to use your app ??!! The update was just an excuse to squeeze $$$ out of everyone who enjoyed it for free in the past. DELETE DELETE DELETE !!!

Yamil Cordero

Doesn't open Updated today and it won't even open. Guess I will have to wait for the new update.

Rodney Wade

Keeps shutting down with new update Was pretty ok before now it wont even start up?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Will Jimenez

No good New update messed it up, won't open!

Brian McAtamney

New Update This New update is terrible, this paper on line keeps getting worse and worse...Not even worth reading anymore. .

Ryan Miller

Another slantinel fail! Way to make sure the app actually worked before releasing the update

Seth Perry

This worked Application manager force stop app clear data and it works again.

Tim Tedder

stopped working update broke the app on my Razr Maxx HD

Serge Curran

Possible fix Need to clear cache after new version.

Mike Martin

Latest update makes app not worth it Recent update makes all articles premium. It's one thing to make columnist content premium. But every single piece of news? No thanks. UPDATE: They released another update, but now, instead of all articles being considered premium (a likely mistake), you are now only able to view 10 articles a month for free. So essentially no change but to confirm that the app is worthless. I'll be going to a new source for news I guess.

Barry Haupt

Does Not Meet Expectations I subscribe because I want to read local Orlando news, but this app is sub-par. My main gripe is that content is very poorly organized. It's like no one is bothering to figure out what constitutes top news vs. breaking news. The same story appears multiple times with different dates. Sometimes photos appear with no text. Sometimes a photo icon that shows up in story link does not show up in larger form when you open up the story. Compared to other newspaper apps, this one sucks.

alex vega

I have 4 prints delivered to my home which i pay for. Now i cant even read the news on my phone. What a garbage update. Fire the genious who thought of this. I would give it a 0 but the app doesnt allow me to do so. FIX IT!

Jeff Allison

New not worth paying for This app sucked when you could read the news for free. Now the app is great but you have to pay to read the news stories which are not written very well to begin with.

Tim Biers

Waste. Even though I subscribe to the print Orlando Sentinel, I can't read the articles. Uninstalled!

Shelley Thompson

Latest update What to hell orlando sentinel??? Now all stories are premium and I can only read 10 a month??? Or I can pay extra to read everything.... nope, I'll just continue to use the other free Florida news apps. Big mistake on your part to change to this format. I'm sure your traffic is going to nosedive now!

Amy Lucie

Good app...lots of problems The idea of this app is very, very good. There are so many glitches and issues, however, I only give it two stars (and I've been using it for YEARS, well before the new formats). Enjoy it, but expect lots of waiting, videos that DO work but then ones that don't, and several other issues.

Alexis Gonzalez

made all stories premium stories .... hurry up and fix or just get my news some where else . you ruined this app deleting app

Brian Sadowski

Not worth it! I have used this app ever since I've had a smart phone, about six years. I thought the content was unbiased which is the reason I chose it. Now after the recent update I can only read 10 articles before I have to pay!?! Looks like I'll be moving on.... Sad greed has takin over!!

Jacob Mayer

Bugs or a scam Hint: Uninstall then reinstall the app to restart the counter. All articles are premium and the counter did not restart in December.

Kimiye T

Says I'm using up free articles But I am a print subscriber logged into my unlimited digital account on my phone. Why can't this app tell that all the articles should be "free" for me? The same account works on the website just fine.

Samuel Nazario Nazario

Past reader They should just charge for the app. You need to pay to read the news.

jaime pollack

Not paying! Why in the world would I pay for this?? There are so many, way better news apps. I only had this to begin with because it was free, not because it was good.

pedro trabal

Not free That suck ..not free..just moving on to other local new that are free...................... FOX 35 IS FREE

Linda Lange

Uninstalled Not worth the time to consider if it's worth 1 of 10. Not worth the money to pay for.

A Google User

Not worthy Sorry but I'm not paying for these B grade stories written in very poor spelling and grammer. ...I pay for the paper already but found it a little more convenient to read from this app on the go.....but as I said I'm not paying for poor quality product.

pedro concepcion

Bad choice! There goes my way of being in contact with Orlando.... i will find some other source. I'm not paying for articles anymore!! Uninstalling!

Michael Wallman

Do not update Once updated all articles become premium content and as such you will only have access to 10 articles for free and then one must subscribe in order to continue reading. I would think that the paper would provide local news for free to promote the city and create a sense of community. My home town paper, the Miami Herald provides free content on their app. If I could give zero stars I would.

Mary Ellen McGirr

Uninstalling Not paying, sorry. Every other news outlet is happy for you to read their stories for free. You should probably read your reviews, it's pretty telling.

jack scholbe

Uninstall, stand up to all premium content Every story premium even breaking news & obituaries. I guess you made a decision for most to uninstall this app. Most online newspapers do what your app had before, some content as premium but pertinent information, that which helps the community understand the community not blocked. You will understand in the long run as people react negative toward this decision, yes a newspaper is a business but it also serves as being part of a community.

richard carr

Uninstalling Every story is premium? Well that means none of them are quality. I'll just use a tv news app or something else. Says I've read 10 articles this month. I haven't read one.

Russ W

This app is useless without paying for a subscription. It's a joke! I only get to read 10 articles/month without a subscription..... Ugh! I would read more than that every day. This is worthless.....

Drew Bates

Uninstall Pay for news articles? Really? Just going to use Google now. Bad move OS.

David Rios

Once you update, you have to pay to read more than 10 articles a month. Ridiculous. Uninstalling.

Jay Johnson

Terrible idea Way to limit content.... this will cause you to loose readers and advertising and likely cease to exist

Andrew Davis

Rubbish Why should one be paying for those upgrades....just uninstalled the app..

John B

Every story still premium Even with the latest update, all stories remain premium. Not like this in the iOS version! A crappy app for a crappy paper!

Donald Mallett

Uninstalled Limited to 10 news articles a month. Need to pay beyond that.

Forget it I'm not paying for this.

Chris Fluke

10 articles per month?! 10 articles per month is ridiculous! Uninstalled

Britnie Lewis

Every article is now considered premium? I might consider this plausible if the editor checked for spelling and grammar! Come on Orlando Sentinel, so much for community...

Avery Brodus

Not paying Why do you think I am going to pay for some story while i can Google it for free?

Bobby Manso

Shame on you not cool I not happy I have to pay to look at the news where I have other ways to get the news for free shame on u

george hachigian

Very Bad Are you kidding me. They only give you 10 free stories a month. I will get my local news from another source.

Catherine Butler

Can't read You might as well call this a paid app because you can't read any of the articles without a subscription. Deleting now.

Bryan Rapp

Every Story is now Premium This newest update (11/24) caused all my stories to become premium and require me to sign in. Now instead of any clicks in this app, you'll get none. Was a nice app, but these 'stability improvements' ruined it. Uninstalled.

Rik Martinez

All articles are premium?! This used to be all stories are premium. You gotta fix!

Robert Everland III

Completely changed app Now every article you click says that it is premium. Uninstalled, won't be using it again.

The Bike Watcher

Problem solved Doesn't open often since latest update. When in the rare event it does open most of the articles fail to load.

Bob Kafarfafarf

Terrible now after update. App doesn't open. Every story is premium.

Emily Farwell

worthless... what's the point of having a news app if you can't even access ANYTHING without a paid subscription? might as well price this app at $9.99 and save us all the time it takes to download and then immediately uninstall it..

Alex Dunigan

Confusing There appears to be no logic to display of stories.

William King

S. L. O. W. It is constantly updating, so you can only get a few stories at a time while the little circles turn and turn... Crap. This newspaper is such a sad shell of its former glory. And someone should really get them to define the difference between "top stories" and "breaking news". The identical stories are in each section. Pointless. The local TV stations cover the same stories, albeit with less depth.

richard carr

Uninstalling Every story is premium? Well that means none of them are quality. I'll just use a tv news app or something else. Says I've read 10 articles this month. I haven't read one. Wish I could give minus stars.

George Craig

Everything is premium? Really News from a week ago is premium? C'mon fellows, old news should hardly be considered premium.

Lindsay Eouse

10 free stories I read my 10 free stories in February, it is now March 5th and it is saying I have already read my 10 free stories but I have yet to read one in March!

Wil Rodriguez

Now they charge to read every article after 10....why would anyone do that when they can google it and find the same story somewhere else for free?

Stan Keely

Ap is slow to refresh. Lots of ads

William King

S. L. O. W. .... It's still constantly updating. The circles round and round endlessly. Subscription cancelled.....It is constantly updating, so you can only get a few stories at a time while the little circles turn and turn... Crap. This newspaper is such a sad shell of its former glory. And someone should really get them to define the difference between "top stories" and "breaking news". The identical stories are in each section. Pointless. The local TV stations cover the same stories, albeit with less depth.

Mark O'Deady

Easy and Dependable I get Orlando News as it happens with very little drain on my phone resources.

Lou Nagy

Works well. Great coverage.

Sandee Bright

REALLY POOR APP! I love the Orlando Sentinel, but this app has sucked since day 1!! EXTREMELY slow response time. Ads appear over the article text even though I'm logged on as a paid digital subscriber. Sometimes it just goes wacky with the articles going over each other when I scroll. If the Internet version of the paper wasn't so hard to see on my phone, I'd uninstall this in a heartbeat! Please invest a little money in a competent programmer & give this app a COMPLETE face-lift! Please!

Rory Salzberg

Content for fifth graders Slow loading times. Horrible liberal slant on everything, reading level of a below average fifth grader.

John Vizzusi

Better than old Fishwrap Lets face it.. the Newspaper biz in America is broke. This Orlando Sentinel app lets you read 10 premium stories then it offers you monthly rates to continue. Nerds can simply go System Setting, Apps, find OS, Clear cache, settings etc. The app will start over allowing 10 stories. Then repeat process if you desire to. Online, in your browser its all free! Go figure...

Daryl Fisk

The best news for Orlando I really enjoy this paper because it goes more in depth than the other news organizations. I went ahead and subscribed. It has paid off nicely.

Carl Christianson

Use to be better, but better than nothing.

Dave Oconnell

Just okay They want to charge you for this information, but nobody else does. News is not up to date for breaking news. Quality of what they put on here is poor.

Confusing to navigate Don't give up your day job.

Marc Ennis

You pay for a subscription and to many ads There are way too many ads for a paid subscription. I like to scan the news stories but I keep getting the stupid pizza hut ads, the beach ad, and a couple other constantly in the feed. I can take a couple ads but seeing the same ad in my face 20 to 30 times in a course of 10 minutes scrolling through the stories if to much. Use Google or the ap for your news.

Get your credit or debit card out! In my opinion this is a teaser app with limited free content.
