Optus TV with Fetch is an Internet TV service designed with ‘YOU’ in mind.

It redefines the conventional TV viewing experience by giving you the control to choose what you want to watch, to decide when you want to watch it and to pay for what you watch.

Features include:

- Browse and search the Optus TV with Fetch catalogue
- Watch movie trailers on your iPhone and iPad
- Browse and search the 7 day TV guide and setup a reminder
- Post comments about what you’re watching on Facebook or Twitter

Pair a compatible device with your Optus TV with Fetch set-top box to:
- Use it at home as a remote: ‘Tap to play’ a recording, on demand movie or TV show on your TV .
- Change channels , and adjust the volume.
- Schedule, browse and manage recordings on your set top box while out and about.
- Watch content on your device within Australia, including Movie box movies, selected subscription channels, and the ‘Movie Now Showing’ trailer channel.

For device requirements, please refer to : and link to the App User Guide. Some content is only available by subscription. Not all subscription channels or programs can be watched via the app.

For the best experience we recommend using your home Wi-Fi network connection, and a mobile internet connection with an effective bandwidth of at least 330 Kbps when you’re out and about. Data use on a WiFi network that is powered by an Optus fixed broadband connection is unmetered. Data used over other internet connections may be metered, and you should check with your mobile provider or ISP for applicable data rates.

Instructions for connecting the Optus TV Remote app with your Optus TV set-top box (pairing):
• Please be at home with your TV on and your set-top box turned on
• From the Home screen menu, go to Settings > Manage > Mobile & Tablet
• Follow the on screen messages to setup your initial connection

- You should only need to connect to your set-top box once, however if for some reason you lose your connection, just run the setup process again.

Buffering forever Buffering forever and won't play live TV on Nexus 5. Also the program guide is very slow. Amateurish compared with the iOS version which works well in comparison. Only good as remote control. Very disappointing.

Don't know how it's different. It seems identical to the other fetch tv app. Since this is an optus app, surely you should be able to play recordings in the app when other ISPs let you. Optus is the only ISP that does not let you watch recordings on your device.

Live view just buffers On my nexus 10, the app just buffers when I go to live view. My nexus 5 does play video some of the time. Honestly, suggesting fetch TV is available on mobile devices feels like false advertising to me right now.

Drops out sometimes And doesn't pick up WiFi, but that's only about 10% of the time.. All I have to do is close the app.. Other than that.. Does everything it says it does.... Would be good if it worked while using a hard drive, Netflix, or YouTube though..

Great app! This is an awesome app. I have a SGS4 and the quality of video n sound are excellent. Also it allows me to connect to my tv via an hml cable and great! I can take my channels anywhere I like. Love it!

Looks good, functionality bad. Just like the new Optus website, it looks great, but falls apart when you want to use it. Whenever I got to stream live programming the app just shuts down. Also as other people have said basic functions are missing. Shame, could be great if little things are fixed.

Remote doesnt work Mainly wanted the app to work as another remote. Pairs to fetchtv stb then crashes while syncing. Advises phone needs to be connected to same network as stb (which it already is) to use remote. No fix on latest update. iPad app of same version number works correctly.

Crashes on nexus 7 lollipop Upgrading to lollipop on nexus 7 results in consistent crashing while trying to use live tv. Before upgrade had to always clear cache before app would download and work.

Great as a remote or for the tv guide I've currently go my OptusTV box connect to an old tv without HDMI and the OSD is nearly unreadable. Using the OptusTV app allows me to see the TV guide, schedule shows for recording and even play them back on the TV. I'd give the app 5 stars if the "Watch Live" function would work on my Samsung Galaxy S5 running Android 5.0 (Lollipop).

Won't pair with phone or tablet!! I've gone through all the set up on both my Galaxy4 phone and Galaxy Tab3 and both times it says that they're paired, but then when i try to use the app it won't work. Very disappointing, uninstalling!!

Not Compatible App appears to have compatibility issues with Android 5.0. All subscription channels do not stream, just continuously displays buffering message. Would be great if an update could be pushed to fix this issue as it is clearly affecting many users and there is nothing that I've read to indicate that this app is not compatible with certain versions of the OS or certain devices.

Remote access Takes a million years for the control app to actually process. I could go to the shops, buy new batteries get back and use the normal remote before the volume even turns up.


Takes a million years to get into app The asp had this 'Download data' screen that runs on every launch. It's so slow that my phone screen even turns off. Why can't the stupid app down load data in the back ground?

Useless for Android power users I can understand that you want to protect content from copyright infringement. However, Cyanogen OS is very popular and needs to be supported. My phone's root access is turned off and I still can't use the app. Surely you can let me use the app to view the guide and setup recordings, even watch movie trailers, without all the channels if your worried about copyright.

Sigh You've got to be kidding me. Considering how long many of us had to wait for this app to work properly, you now don't allow devices with root to work at all? You already allow us to record on the box itself, but you introduce copyright restrictions? So, even if the latest update DID work, unlike so many before it, I can't find out at all. I've been with Optus for many years, and this is by far your poorest performance to date. Terrible service.

Crippled app Can't change tv guide region. Can't even find let alone play my recordings. Tv guide is so crap you can't see more than 2 chars of titles of 30 min shows. Can't find channels to play Live Tv. Doesn't have category for free movies or tv shows. Basically an app where 80% of useful features don't actually work or work well enough to use.

A real asset if you've already got the STB If you already have the set top box, this enables you to check the TV guide, set recordings while out and about - even has a 'remote interface' where you can use your phone like a TV remote as long as you're on your home wifi! Takes some time to start up, but fair enough, given the extensive functionality, in my opinion.

Fails to connect or disconnects Often cannot connect to my box and 3 times already my phone self deauthorised which means have to be home to reauthorise it, not possible if I am away from home, which is the whole point of this application. Remote access. So it is useless. On the rare occasion when it does not loose authorisation watching the entertainment package channels, most of the time it says cannot load channel try later lol. This clearly needs more work.

This app used to be poor but bearable. Now it no longer works with rooted devices.....or indeed my device ..... .....which is not rooted. I know its not rooted - i haven't rooted it and i have checked with at least 3 root checkers that all say its not. Why does this app think my device is rooted?

Took a while but works great now Couldn't watch TV on phone, would buffer and never load. Must have been issue with phone, as it kicked the bucket. App works perfectly on replacement phone. All it needs is a few more channels on fetch.

Will you ever fix it? Almost impossible to connect to Fetch TV box. Never succeed to record anything through the app. Takes ages to load. Not sure why I have it!? But I think I know what I'm gonna do with it... The only positive is the TV guide, of you patient enough for it to load.

Handy alternative. I recommend the functionality of the app. Downside, quite slow to load, even on current tech devices. -1* for that. Having trouble playing purchased TV series on device. Loads Episode 1 regardless of your selection and there's your second - 1*. Overall 3* and a good starting position guys.

On screen Nav Bar (soft keys) App works fine, might be a bit slow to load up the lists and such but streaming is perfect. My only complaint is that the on screen navigation buttons don't get hidden. I'm using a Nexus 6P and in all other apps when full screen they hide after 2-3 secs except your app. It's kinda distracting and would really like your devs to update to hide it when streaming full screen.

Very Poor App As noted by many commentators: very poor initialisation time (in the region of "quite a while" to literally "forever"), data download also quite lengthy (if it doesn't stall), and quite frequent drop-outs. It has sometimes taken longer than 15 min to even get the app to start after repeated manual force-closures and restarts. Given that the app was last updated in October 2015 and so many people are continuing to point these issues out, it suggests that either Optus is incompetent in coding the app or hold their customers in contempt. Given what I have seen of the practical side of Optus customer service, I honestly believe the latter.

It works but..... It works but now and again shows come up as not available on the Live TV menu. There is a lot of content that is not made available to play on mobile devices making this almost pointless. It's slow to load and slow to start streaming live TV. I am connected to the NBN with an FTTP (Fibre) connection getting about 70Mbps to 95Mbps down via Cat 6 Ethernet and tonight I'm getting about 94Mbps via WiFi so I can only assume it's the app/Optus and or there servers/backend/infestructure.

Could be great A great app spoiled by very slow response times. Programming a recording to the PVR did work despite it appearing to fail in the app.


I Like the App, how it looks similar to the fetch tv. Does take a bit to long to open up around 30seconds to 1min. Downloading data. Loading Channels also takes around 20-30seconds and this is on a 100mb'/s connection, once done its downloading connecting and playing channels works very well. It also doesn't work on Rooted devices, so some smart Google TV or android devices such as my projector or TV as it says due to copyright protection? I cant see how this will affect copyright as has to be pared with the Fetch TV to work. It would be nice to remove this restriction so i can watch Channels on my other networked TV's eg in bedroom with out having to wire the fetch tv up to each room. The APP has huge potential if can mirror the functionality of the Fetch TV on all devices on the same network., In Reality this is just the Fetch TV app which is also slow with a different Shortcut icon and Optus customization.

Poor execution Takes ten minutes to load if loads at all. Need to re-connect to fetch TV at least once a month and when connected can't use as remote because it says I'm not on the same Wi-Fi network when I only have one router which both are connected to

Was good Does not work at all anymore. Tells me my device already exists, dirrrrrrrrr I'm trying to watch stuff on my device. Fix whatever it is u broke. No help from support other than to say try disconnecting from the box and re installing the app. Nothing has worked. Would soft reset the box but don't know the activation code.

Slow and often disconnects It usually takes ages to update the guide and if it hasn't been used in a while, tells me that I need to pair my phone with the Fetch TV box again. Also frustrating that you can't watch recorded content on the app like you can with the non-Optus app

Ok but All over not too bad apart from having no Tags or Artwork for movies from a connected HDD or NAS. Only names. So when kids are using it they know wat they are after with pictures. But coz there arent any this makes things somewhat difficult.

Disgrace There is not only a poor selection. I also can't get the sloppy crap I do buy to run on my mobile or tablet. Optus should fire the loser in charge of selecting movies and series. I punch something good into the search bar it's not there. Just feminst approved drivel not suitable for a rock to watch or new releases. Not even all new releases.
