Network Browser is a simple file manager/browser utility for browsing files on your Windows network. It can connect to standard Windows or Samba shares. Use it to browse files on your Samba shares, view pictures, play network music, watch videos that you are on your network, etc.

Presently, Network Browser should be able to connect to most Microsoft Windows or Linux and Mac OSX smb samba network shared folders. You need to know the IP address of the network server you are trying to connect to. You can connect as guest, or supply your username and password.

You can also open files that you find on your network. Tapping on a file will open it in the default editor on your Android system. Currently saving and uploading is not supported, but if there is interest in the project I can certainly work to add these features.

Network Browser now supports music and video streaming over the network! The current release only supports mp3 format for music and m4v and mp4 formats for videos, but I plan on adding support for more media formats in the future. Give it a try and let me know which formats you want me to work on next! Network Browser can now be your ultimate home network media streaming app!

Network Browser is for you guys, so if there is any interest in this project, I will add any features that you want or request. With time and effort this could be a fully functional network file manager and Windows Networking app, but if there is no interest in the project then I will not put the time into it. Just let me know!

Network Browser relies on functionality from the JCIFS library, which can be found here:

This would be way cooler If I didn't have to figure out the IP address and configure the program, rather than just getting on to and navigating the network as if I were on a WIN7 or WIN8 . Would be the best thing!

Andrés Beltrán Méndez

Excelent app It works perfectly and only reads also writes. The only thing is left for it to be perfect is to start working with protocols like cfis, or afp. That way it can be used in enterprise environment :)

David Drascic

Very handy and easy to use! Tried it based on the enthusiastic reviews, and I wasn't disappointed. Connected very quickly to my local network and was able to play mp4 videos, mp3 music, and open epub, mobi, and pdf books instantly. Unfortunately, it can't open m4a or m4b audio files, but I'm hoping a future update will solve that. I would also wish for the ability to download any given file, so I could then open it in the app of my choosing. But despite these limits, this free app is instantly useful and is something I use all the time. The ads are not intrusive and do not hurt the user experience.

aldwin tiquez

Good but... I don't see any option to copy shared content even if i allowed read/write option in my pc

Connor Martin

Great app but... I think it probably can have more capabilities. It would be great if it worked with Minecraft servers. If you make it able to do that, I will give you 5 stars.

David Lowe

Great! Connected first time to my network. Played audio without lag. A search feature would be helpful. Update: Still great after usage. Option to copy a whole folder would be great.

Ramazan Zuberi

Love this app! So simple to use, so easy, offers so much for a technical guy like myself. I've tried so many other apps, but I'm definitely sticking with this one. Great work devs!

Lukáš Krištof

Nice but text color It'd be very nice app if you could make change of text color possible. I'm using dark theme on my phone and it's really annoying to read it. Thank you.

Owen Bennett

Good, but it forces you to pay If you want to download stuff from a network drive, it will force you to pay before doing so.

jhon frost

Very useful Only thing missing is sorting by name for more ease, other than that its amazing.

Leslie Stonier

Very good app Does not always find network drives first time, can play songs off network drive on phone. .

Geoff Drewe

Network Just fine, gives me good access to my network and it's secure

Jeb Eldridge

It just works Love the app! The design could be modernized though

David Shaner

Prefect Allows me to browse and open files on network shares. Simply does what I wanted it to.

Carlos Nieves

Works on xp I have a xp pc that i browse files from ,awesome app

Nicki R

Works well I stream videos from my computer so I can watch them in bed on my tablet, easy to use no problems

Matthew Campbell

Works but bad pricing The app looks nice and works well but the pricing is off putting. $1 per year subscription with no promise of future development.

Alan Paul

Better than the others I tried Not perfect but better than all the others. Use with VLC for best results.

Cynthia Green

cindles need more support for playing videos cant view half of my hard drive

Michael Miler

It's okay for what it does Would be nice if you could copy or move files in batches. Or even delete a file if you were so inclined. Maybe even be able to rename a file or two. If all you want to do is navigate around your network and open a file for viewing here and there then this is a good app with which to do so.

Graham Barnetson

Full access to network from a phone Recent improvements make this a must have app.

Ambarish Chatterjee

Good. Network is not discovering automatically. Where as SMB sharing centre has automatic discovery mode. Overall its good.

Brian Waldman

aweaome Streaming flicks from my popcorn hour film server. Pure magic

Asher Aber

Can't copy directories Big files crash the app

Brilliant Works well..fantastic app. .can access all my files shared on my home network. .and transfer to mobile device. ... :)

Harry Orkin

Great Does what I want very well

Pishtoff Withguglpluss

Simple, lean, effective. Would be nice if we could set a different download directory. It filled up my internal SD card, but there's plenty of space on the external one!

Edgar G

Best network browser I've tried. I tried many apps but by far this is the best for accessing local network files. This one is a keeper!

Peter Koutsoumbos

Network browser Thanks an app that works well

Turk Leonard

Marc Danby

Browsing. Good app does what it says.

Tom Paradis

Awesome app Works flawlessly, very good ui

Thomas Meyer

Does the job I need it to.

Mila Osipova

Good Netsurf In using easy, fast no malware. As new optional things may be : network sniffer and packet decoder . Respect !

Andy Rushton

Just works This app just worked for me out of the box. When I think how much time I've spent trying to get PCs to network and fighting against Windows Networking, this is an achievement.

Michael Connelly

Basic, thumbnails would help with photos/videos but great free resource thank you.

Anthony Wilson

Decent Finds the network and allows clear easy browsing of folders and files. Nice work.

Craig Muzashi

Does what it says. Use it on My Note 4 with my work VPN, and I have no problems.

Shinyo Free

Very impressed! Does exactly what it says it will do with no setup. Automaticly found my XP network and I was able to browse my folders and open files. exactly what I wanted.

Gerson Riddy

Completely useless Not a lot to add. Does not pick up windows / SMB network that all my win 7/8 PC's can see. Waste of time.

Nancy Connors

Excellent app Saves my life when I am out of the office

Simple but works Just what I needed to share Windows based libraries.

Abhishek Verma

Very useful app Its a very useful app for an android device. Now I don't have to think more for moving files. Even I can store big files on my PC and can be able to access whenever it is required.... :)

Cody Cross

Nice functionality! A few things I'd change about it organizationally, but nothing major.

Joe Colagreco

SG4 New update working as mentioned. No problems on my end... even tho I'm still running kk. Not sure yet if I want to move towards ver5. Nicer update...I'm happy,

Justin Tardugno

It works great Easy to set up and it just works. The only cons I can think of is when viewing files, there is no functionality to swipe left or right to view the next or previous file. Also there should to be thumbnails previews. And it would be perfect if it could stream larger movie type files.

Albert Demello

Cool Works better than I had hoped.

willy wombat

Good overall Sometimes hangs unable to open network. Otherwise good.

David Donald

Great I love using this app in combination with VPN so I can browse my movie collection that's stored at home.

Dug Rotar

Finally network utility that works!

Eugene Ashton

Russ rup

dr james pluto6inovo

James5th Very good

Veerasak Sue

work very good

Michael Whalen Jr

Handy I love it. It does the job.

Seems to work But doesn't. Whenever I attempt at accessing my home network (correct login and IP entered), it forces me to create another shortcut for the same network, and so on. I haven't gotten past the first screen because of this issue. Please fix.

Ed S.

Sadly, it no longer works Despite what I say below the program recently just stopped working. I verified all my network settings and used to be an N.A. so am qualified to set up networks but this has me stumped. All my other network devices from the PC and to the PC still work so I think it is likely a change in this. It actually hasn't worked for a few weeks but today when I really need it to, no go. Hopefully they'll get it ironed out with Win 8.1 Pro 64 bit (which is the OS I used when setting it up the first time).

Jeff Lusher

Broken on LG G4 After I create a connection and then go to connect to it by tapping on the newly created icon, it acts like i tapped the New Connection button and asks me all the connection details all over again...

Michael Clifford

I like this app as it is the only one that appears to work so far, I am able to see my content on my shared drives ok and can open files and look at photos and videos. If only you could download files from the server this app would be perfect, that feature would be worth an in app purchase as long the upgrade doesn't completely ruin it which is what usually happens whenever I find an app I like it seems to get buggered up with an upgrade, so thinking about this one maybe better to leave it alone, if it ain't broke.....

Peter Hall

Excellent app Simple intuitive user interface and powerful tools. Its flexible and works with no fuss. Recommended

vladimir g

VOVA Simple and easy to use. Just works. A+

Antonio Abadesso

Lee Ebbrell

Works a treeeeeet Really simple and easy to use

safdar munde

Very useful app Very useful app to access the network files

Jim and Janett Hurlbut

Works great Easy to setup and use

Earl Weaver

Used to be good This last update turned a pretty good tool into a piece of crap on a Nexus 7. Back to ES file manager for me

Brian Nichols

Fix the BACK history! I have a network share with music. Each artest has their own folder. When you go into a folder, then go BACK, your position starts back at top of the list. This causes you to have to scroll all the way down to where you were. Fix this, and you have 5 stars!

Jonathan Turner

Is OK but needs improvement The "Select" feature does not work so I can only move one file at a time. I have a folder with 500+ pics and I just want to move that folder to my laptop! How is this accomplished when select does not work. Will be looking for a better RDA app that does not only allow me to move on file at a time. I need to move multiple files and FOLDERS. Not good for productivity, redundant & not for people who want to be productive and work at a fast pace. It would take me days to move all those pics one at a time.

Daniel Stecklein

AWSOME! I love this app. Use it every day. Keeps my Samsung galaxy s4 connected to my home network.

david schull

Not working anymore Keeps asking for new connection setting

Borislav Belchev

Works great Best app of this type I have used so far

Byron Moore

Ads have become enormous and obnoxious

Walt Spillane

Fabulous! Easiest way to browse your network files. My only complaint is that you have to enter the IP address for your network drive, and I didn't know mine so I had to figure it out. It would be better if the app would search for available network drives and then ask for the user name and password. Other than that, this is an awesome app. Thanks!

ash rains

I liked it Does what I needed it to. Only suggestions I have it to expand the video compatibility list and allow some kind of interrupt function during the refreshing /reading times. The app locks during these times and won't budge until it's finished doing whatever. So if you tap on the wrong directory, you have to wait until it's done gathering all the contents before letting you navigate again.

Khalif Mitha

Rock solid for smb lan based network Although ES file explorer is much faster and quick on its toes so to say it doesnt handle password protected smb well at all... This app however... ( though a little sluggish ) handles password protected smb in a rock solid manner across lan.... Making it my top go to app for password protected lan smb

Zachary Brogie

Great and simple This app works perfectly and is seems well made. It will ask you to download their file manager which feels a little weird to have to do, but that works great too. I am so happy to have this app

Liam Way

Great app Works perfectly, only thing would be, it's not great if you are not alittle tech savey. Would love to see a scan function for people who don't know what an Ip address is. Other then than no issues at all :) THUMBS UP.

Pete Morgan

Very good, but when I install helios browser to save files it locks up my S6 Edge when tapping "save as"...the same thing happens on the wife's S5.

Ramon Janssen

Absolutely useless Nice try.. Unfortunately the user interface blows, the prompts for 'additional functionality' in the form of different apps is a cheap way of gaining exposure, it doesn't update quick enough and uploading files one by one? Really?

Paul Spencer

Superb! I use this app every day on my Samsung tablet mainly to browse and launch movies that are stored on my PC and it works flawlessly! After previously using other similar apps from the play store in my opinion this one works the best. If the developer has the time to add some additional options and settings it would be very useful to have these functions; The ability to sort files by (size, type & date) ascending and descending. An option to display files side by side as tiles also with thumbs if possible please? The only thing I don’t like are the ads at the bottom, it would be great to have the option to remove them, even if it means purchasing the app?

Nathan Mock

Just what I needed It allowed me to load movies from my phone to my local FTP server via network storage if you have a Linksys router in an FTP server setup on it this is great for uploading files to it

if it ever worked creates a new connection without any problems but when i try to browse, opens same dialog box to create a new connection. i do not have time for this BS!!!

David A. Guerrero S.

Very useful I have a home network with a 3TB hard drive with all kind of files extension, that I can access to from my Asus tablet using this browser.

Abhinav Sahai

Good product It misses some features such as when we view pics. We have to go back again and again to view another one. It doesn't have the feature to slide them while viewing them.. Rest is ok.

Ed S.

Yea! It works again This little tool is a gem. It does exactly what I need - accesses network resources in a clear and simple way. The only caveat is even if you do not use server/client networking with either a domain name or workgroup, you MUST enter whatever name you placed in network configurations in Windows. For example, if you call your peer to peer network "My Home Network," place that in the domain name line, even if it is not a domain name, on each PC you decide to access with this. Good job, developer! Thank you for fixing a tool I use a lot so it is again compatible with my devices.

Ryley Henry

Worked great until... Worked great until this most recent update. Now it can't open any file on my hard drive network. Would definitely get 5 if it worked again.

ЯеDMaN 'Cunian

RedmAnonnymous Works flawlessly across all networks providing your permissions are set accordingly.

Ben Connarty

Network browser The app works really well allowing me to play films and music directly from both my nas and pc hard disk. Brilliant!!

Peter Hurford

Decent app I can now see my network from my Android tablet.

Nathan Gregg

Yep. It just worked. No fiddling with settings. Installed and it worked. Great app thanks.

Leonid Zipilevich

Works perfectly Can access my NAS storage over wifi

Gary Rohr

Unable to scroll through pictures App works pretty good but if you have a folder of pictures you need to select each one for viewing and then the picture doesn't fill the screen so if you're trying to find a certain picture it's very tedious

Colin Milmine

Awesome App Get it, because it works!

Dan Higgins

Used it on my previous phone. Works great.

Jacob Zimmerman IV

Works. Only complaint is that I need a separate app to upload files and the app will not download/install. This app should be able to handle it all. Would give 5 *'s if it did. Other than that, great work.

Graham Chapman

Great Works as well as could be expected!

Good It meets what I need.

Pierre Kerbage

Worked perfectly 30 second install, saw all my shares after credentials. Could not be better. Thank you. Buying.

Kurt Kuh

Denis Rutovitz

Network browser browses This app does exactly what it says on the tin - that is, allows you to browse a your local network, without longwinded or messy setup procedures. It actually does more than advertised, because in addtion to viewing, files can be downloaded, and uploaded using associated software which this app conveniently points you to, then incorporates.

Nicholas Hacking

Works I installed it, it lets me browse my network. No issues so far: very impressed.

Pete Jarvie

Excellent Server Access Fab wee app. Easily connects to my server and can open all my files with ease. Well done guys

Andrew Rockwell

Nicely done! I can connect to my HTPC's and watch movies. Just what I needed!

Kyle Carlen

Very good Does the trick....can read any network that you are connected to - providing you have security access

Daneel Geldenhuys

Often have to restart the app, but it works great most of the time.

Francisco Flores

David Hotary

Chintan Patel

Lee Roberts

Dose what it says on the Tin, great !

Chad Gnibma

Sometimes disconnects overall good

Clyde Kleckner

Works great Just what was needed

Shaun Baker

Awesome app!! Have tried many file manager apps to let me access my NAS and manipulate the files. This is the only one that actually moves, copies and deletes files and not just the link to them from my phone!

Jeremy Blackwell

Almost perfect It's nice and simple. However, I hate that it makes me download Helios in order to upload a file to my NAS. Please integrate browsing Google Photos, using other third party file explorers, etc. Then your app will be great. In the meantime, I paid to remove ads. Hope that helps. Thanks Dev!

Anthony Vaclavicek

When it works is great Sometimes when you manually set up a connection you get stuck in an endless loop of entering the information and saving it only to be brought immediately back to the setup screen again. But when everything is working it's pretty fast and useful.

Tofwap O

Best so far. Every other network browser I've tried is garbage comparatively. I really hate that you need whole separate app to do downloads but it's free and it has the perfect ratio of ads to use.

Does nothing After setting up connection it will save it but when opening that connection it just reverts back to setting up new connection. Neverending loop.

Matthew B

Can't upload to NFS Upload button doesn't work to NFS. Tells you to install some other software that can't even view NFS mounts.

Khaled Halawa

Something suddenly changed and it takes ages to load network files ANnD it needs the IP didn't need that before

Kirby Johnson

What about dynamic IPs? My local router assigns IP addresses at boot so the computer may not have the same 192.168.x.x every time. So why do we not use names like in windows networking?

Great application! I could do without the ads but it works advertised. Connection and setup was a easy via a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Tablet. Viewing and copying files is a straight forward and makes backing up files from mobile devices a breeze. The app is free so I understand why we have ads. Thank for providing this application for android devices.

Meor Syaedi

can't copy network file to copy network file need to install other apps. i know this is a browse only, but if can copy network file is better. tq

Slayer6100 v

I like it i can watch tv shows and movies in our laptop to my phone so i rate it 5

Lawrence Blackburn

Looks good Allows access to other pc's but struggles to teansfer files

Ralephethe Maserumule

Love this app, big ups on the good work. This is the innovation thats needed in these times. Please could you add folder play options and copy options onto the mobile device

Dawid Sadie

Great app Automatically detected network Nas and plays movies and even flac music.

Delos Soled

Delos Great app works on linksyswrt1900acs plays all video files but credit goes to player. This gets 5 stars for being able to view the files!

Marco Mueller

works great I can get access to all my network files.

Alexey Piskarev

Can't download file from server (1) You can't just download a file from the server. So, the primary function for a network browser is just missing. (2) Once the app opens a folder, it starts building thumbnails for all the images, and you can't do anything until it's done.

John Bilkey

Can't save files without getting another app... Can't save files from the server without getting another app... and the folder icons could use an update. Won't play next song after previous finished on network drive.

Damian Thompson

Didn't work. Kept making new conections that didn't work

Dylan Le Grange

So slow can't do anything

Miguel Provencio

No NFS Does not work with a NFS server.
