Apk file size: 1.5 MB
mobileGRIB light is a fully functional version with outdated GRIB files. To receive actual GRIB forecasts, please purchase the full version.
Full version description:
mobileGRIB is a GRIB2 viewer for Android. It enables sailors and meteorologists to have detailed weather information always available. This is done by downloading GRIB files of any region of interest. Source for the Gridded Binaries is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Forecast times and variables can be chosen from pressure, wind arrows, temperature, cloud cover, humidity and precipitation for the upcoming 8 days between a resolution of 1° x 1° or, for even more detail, 0.5° x 0.5°. By selecting only what the user needs, this procedure will keep the size of the downloaded GRIB file low, making it especially convenient for low bandwidth regions covered only by Edge or GPRS networks, or simply regions with low cellular coverage.
Downloaded map tiles will be cached for offline use. This is why we highly recommend our users to browse through the desired area and zoom level before going offline, in order to always have the map tiles cached for offshore use.
After some downtime according to NOAA related problems, we managed to get things back to work. GRIB data is up to date again and development has started some months ago with the goal to release version 2.0 as a major release regarding rendering speed, overall performance and stability. The launch for the next release is planned between mid and end of May 2016. Stay tuned and see our upcoming features below.
Upcoming release features for version 2.0 (about 15.05 - 31.05 2016):

n3bul4 part of our Weather and have average installs from 10000 to 50000. Last Update Sept. 14, 2011. Google play rating is 55.6322. Current verison is 1.4. Actual size 1.5 MB.
Waves? Where are the waves? Change log from 1 year ago says waves coming in 1.5. I am happy to pay but need wave data. Is app still supported?
Good but could be great Wanted UGrib for my XOOM ! To be great this app needs animation or at least scrolling of forecasts plus ability to overlay wind and rain on pressure. Will use it a lot this summer but PLEASE add animation/scrolling
Great App! Dev's made a great leap forward since the first version - much smother map-scrooling and time/date switching! keep it up! Definitely a buy!
Useless Chart Map is rubbish. Tried zooming in to Maldives but they don't exist! Also the grib file display is buggy with bits missing.
Does it work off GPS or require network connection
Getting better with each update. Watching this closely in comparison to navionics app
Needs wind and pressure at same time plus maps stored on phone for offshore sailing. Needs work!
Needs to combine data. Paging between forecasts needs to be easy and fast so you can appreciate the movement. Not taking this to Fiji.
I use grib on my laptop and enjoy it. This is a pain. Not enough time to evaluate it but enough to not like it.
No data set for my area. That really is "light". How can I know if I want the full version if I can't use the free one?
Lacks advanced features This is a good basic viewer however it lacks more advanced features such as animation, meteograms (graphs) and support for weather models other than GFS that better apps like PocketGrib have.
Not as good as pocketgrib I am a sailor and have been using mobilegrib for a year or so now. I just found pocketgrib which animates, shows multiple layers at once, and can display data as graphs and tables for any given locale. If you use grib data, pocketgrib is well worth the $6.
Good Usefull app. for sailors. ;-)
It just doesn't work I cannot even download a grib file ..I'll just stay with pocket grib and sail grib which actually do What they claim to do
Hasn't been updated since 2011 Sad that no updates have been forthcoming for this
