- Minor bug fixes
Mattermost part of our Business and have average installs from 10000 to 50000. Last Update Sept. 16, 2016. Google play rating is 60.7229. Current verison is 3.4.1. Actual size 2.6 MB.
Functional but very slow Just a webapp wrapper instead of a native experience. This makes it very painful to use properly, while mattermost is quite a vital channel of communication within the company. Implementing simple touch feedback on some buttons could improve the mobile experience already significantly.
Open source but lags, slack looks better Switched our team to mattermost instance because I believe open source is important. The Android app is lacking though. Startup is slow and does not feel polished.
Lags, and is basically a browser It lags when I type, and the keyboard closes whenever I press the send button. You'd do better to use it directly in the browser. Please, a native app.
SLOW AS [email protected]#$ I tried to implement mattermost to replace slack and was pretty Impressed by the performance and features on the desktop. Sadly, most of our companies interaction is on the phone and this app is really clunky and unresponsive most likely because it is an html wrapper. This really killed adoption as it is frustrating for millennials to use as it cannot compete with the speed of ANY other messaging application it is competing for time with. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME INSTALLING THE SERVER!!!
Just a web browser not a native app. Useless. Also shows 'download native app' in sidebar. Fail.
This is not a real Android app, it is just a browser (slower than Chrome) that points to the mattermost server. Completely useless.
Could be better Kinda sluggish, and needs much data...but gets the job done!
Better to open MM in the browser Uses huge amounts of mobile data, terrible usability.
Useless How do I send a message on my tablet? There's no send icon and enter gives a new line...!
Works but... Like another's comment, it works but it's clunky. For one thing, the red loading circle ⭕ doesn't completely go away after loading the app or a new view. Switching views is not smooth either.
Incredibly clunky Worst android messaging application I have used. No scrollback, keyboard closes on every message send. Back button doesn't close sidebars, no slide to close sidebars. Awful. I only use it because the desktop experience is worth having. Mobile is _awful_.
It works but not well
Terrible app!!! Unresponsive, disconnects all the time and it doesn't notify of new messages correctly! This entire service is a joke! Slack is expensive, but it works! You get what you pay for.
The App can't connect to Mattermost 3.2 Server , but I can use browser to access service
Just a browser This is literally just a browser that opens the site you tell it to. It's compete crap.
Basically just the mobile site It seems alright but a native app would really be appreciated. This is just the mobile site.
To me it looks like it's just a redirect to the web page...
Wrapper This is nothing but wrapper. Native app would be better
App for a mobile web view?
Still a bit slow A native app would really help, currently this doesn't really work like you'd expect it to. That said, it's fabulous that a FOSS alternative to Slack is this polished so quickly! Nice that it comes with the knowledge that it won't be bought out by unsavory companies or just disappear one day too.
Has a long way to go in order to catch up with Slack. I use mattermost for work, but the android application really needs to be written as a native app; still very slow to open. Some improvement since last version but update broke autocomplete mentions for me.
Great! ..but It could use some work. I like that you can self host your own MM server and use it cross-platform! That being said, I think that web apps are perfect for someone using a browser.. but a native app would give me more incentive to use this over others.
Very good.. Im still using the desktop app 99% of the time.. but this comes in handy when im commuting
Not a native android app. Lags and feels awkward to use.
I love it Matter most has to be the single best app ever.
Needs proxy support Can't use this until proxy support is added
Port in mattermost host URL not working? Is this expected?
Notification sound can be modified. Please make it possible.
Looks pretty and feature complete, but it's incredibly sloooooow to use. I think it's probably just an embedded webapp, which would explain it. The main slowness is around anything that resizes the content, e.g. bringing up either of the sidebars, or showing / hiding the keyboard. Also (presumably, yes, because it's just a webapp, not a real app) the usual gestures such as side-swiping don't work.
Using for work The only issue i'm having so far is that I dont get any notifications. There seems to be no setting for it. Only desktop. Will the next version support it? Would be nice ! :)
My company wanted a free/open source chat system, so we just switched from Slack to Mattermost overnight. The only (but strong) complains in the company are that the app lacks notifications.
Fails to find existing team Same url in the browser works just fine. No way to get back to login screen without killing the app a and restart.
Functional but feels like a webpage in a wrapper. things like hidden side menu wont open on slide like you'd expect. Very poor performace. Waayyyyyy behind the slack android blient.
Excellent Slack alternative Native app still needs some polishing, but it's promising.
Cannot Attach File The attach button didn't work for me.
Notifications Does not honor silent profile, no notifications in notification bar.
Oh how long I've waited I've waited so long for this app. I have the backend integrated. It's beautiful.
Can't log in I can't even log in. I press on the "sign in with gitlab" button and nothing happens. I try to log in the other way, an error message appears prompting me to sign in with gitlab. I press the "sign in with gitlab button" and nothing happens. And so on.
Mattermost is great The app will get better with time. Keep up the good work!
