LineLearner helps you to learn lines as quickly and easily as you learn a catchy song.
LineLearner enables you to record scenes from plays. It then allows you to listen to the full recording which you learn your part. You can then turn off your part of the recording leaving just the other parts, and the gaps into which you say your lines.
You still have a prompt button to remind you of your lines if you forget. You can repeat individual lines, or the whole play at the touch of a button.
Used by thousands of actors all over the world, LineLearner helps you to memorize lines really quickly and be off script before you know it.
Version 6 of LineLearner is a complete rewrite from the ground up featuring many new features, and a new screen design.
"With LineLearner I can memorise my lines before the first rehearsal, so that I can concentrate of my performance, not on reading the script"
New features include:
Giving lines to characters
Sharing scripts with other users on both Android and iOS
Splitting recording into Days for filming
Rerecord, play and delete from the recording screen
Easier editing
Adding stage direction
Loading script PDFs
and many more...

Helpful! Really like this app... definitely assists with lines learning. Thank you :)

Jeff Kidd

Linelearner Way too complicated. You gad it right and them screwed it up. Can not figure it out. Dump your updates as they are not needed. Go back to last year's easy version. It was good. This one is junk. You blew it. Looking for another one that is simple. Thanks for screwing up a good app.

Joe Riehl

A useful actor's tool Aside from a few minor glitches, this is simply a great app. Easy to use and intuitive. Lots of control. And support for the minor problem I had was almost instantaneous. I already have my first script recorded.

bluehawke99

New version is superb Many improvements over the original. Much nicer to look at. Easier to use. More functionality. An excellent app. The developer is responsive and helpful. I heartily recommend this app.

Tanya Frazier

So upset Had all my lines everything for my play and after the update I LOST EVERYTHING. WHY WHY WHY WHY. Now I have to redo everything. This sucks

Michael Forrer

Brilliant upgrade. Thank you!

just what you need I feel like I’ve found gold with this app. I thought I was going to have to hire an app developer to make my own line memorization tool, but lo!, I do not. I work by recording all lines of text in monotone and replaying to learn by rote with voice memos. I have always wanted to be able to silence out my own lines in the recording to fill them in myself and this app does it! And when you forget your line, you hit “Prompt” (could say ‘Line?!’, like how an actor calls out) and it plays your next line. Boom. It can even be set to play your line AFTER a pause of same length, so you can double-check. It’s functionally exactly what I was looking for. I docked a star because I find the interface somewhat confusing (and unattractive on Android v. iOS) and the workflow for editing not intuitive (not being able to playback/preview a line in the editing page, for example, when we don’t know line numbers). I expect this app to develop beautifully with feedback and as the word spreads. It’s basically having a scene reader in your pocket. You could even record with the other actors for extra fancy times.

Good but simplistic There are a couple of things that could make it great! The ability to rename scenes would be great. Seems like a strange oversight? It would also be great to be able to adjust the quality of the recorded vocals. I get that low quality saves space but this isn't a concern for everyone. Finally, the ability to specify how many people in a scene and having a separate recording button for each other characte? Other than that, great app. The ability to re-record specific lines is very helpful. Well done!

Ben Newman

If you have patience It works when you have put in all your lines, but the editing tool deletes lines randomly, so you have to put them all back in. This may only work if you have a small amount of lines, but even then I would use another app or another way to memorize lines.

Munroe Morrison

Good at what it does. This app helped teach my son his school play lines. It worked well! It does need to have an option to keep the screen on while you are rehearsing, otherwise, very good.

Lucy Elliott

Line learner Wow! This app is so easy to use and has all the tools to really make it helpful. Wish we had found it earlier

Brandy Peeples

Ok so far It seems that the re record feature is not working. The option appears but when I touch the button it does nothing. Also I'm very confused as to how to load a script. When adding a script it only allows me to name it but no way of actually adding the script.

Martin Calcroft

Line Learner Basic, easy to use, and quite simply the best app ever. The Actors 'Holy Grail'....a genuine way of easily learning lines !!

Christopher Ross

Doesn't work "New scene" button doesn't work, "selecting" script takes you the rename screen, generally clunky in design.

Jonas Stewart

Hmm needs work The flow to correct a bad line read is pretty error pone and awkward. It would be much more fluid if we mess up a line during a recording, if we could just long press the line entry to go into the edit screen, once done, let us back out to the recording list again where we we're so we can just continue. With the way it is now, I have to leave the recording list, to go into the edit list, scroll down ( often accidentally deleting or moving and entry in the process) then press the correct line to edit to get to the point of rerecording a line. At the very least it would be nice to have a conformation on deleting a line. Thanks for your efforts, each version is getting better...thanks for the menu when going "back"

Jonathan C. Dietrich

Excited to see it on this platform! I have used it on iOS in the past, and it has been invaluable. A little finicky, but still really useful. I no longer have an iOS device, and so went looking for something like this.. and here it is! I haven't used it much yet, on my phone, but here is a little feedback from the little I have used it so far: Non-functioning back button... sucks. Even if back took you to the menu screen... it is such an instinctual action for me. I am a little nervous as the "Instructions" mentions that the Android version isn't as feature rich as the iOS. Still... I look forward to getting a chance in the next few days to start recording my lines and cues!

Excellent app for learning your lines

Adam Gaudreault

Very buggy It would often play the same line for multiple lines. If you paused it and went to a different line and hit play, it would continue the old line. Many other bugs happened. I will just stick with my recorder.

Roger Banks

Not ready for android The app started crashing. Lost lines. Now it won't open. I needed this. It let me down.

Derick Snow

Very helpful Recording is clean and I can sort my script quickly with the editor. It's fast and easy to swipe! That said, the interface is pretty daunting. It took me forever to figure out how to import PDFs. It works, but how would I know to go into my file explorer, and open with LineLearner? There should be a clean import option with a file finder. Also, there should be a clean way to exit the app. I press back, and it confusingly toggles between modes. On the left side of the mode at the bottom there should be an exit option. The "hamburger" option is context sensitive and powerful, but it's not easy to wrap your head around if you are running it for the first time. Also, sometimes on playback instead of adding the gap at the beginning or end of my line, it pauses in the middle of my recording. That said, I use this on both iOS and Android and tell everyone I know to figure out how to use this thing. It's invaluable!

Randy Magruder

I just can't figure it out The developer needs to really analyze the workflow and use cases. I am a software engineer myself and I can't for the life of me figure it out, even after reading the online help. When I open a PDF from Google Drive, it jumps to the app, showing me a list of the plays I have, giving NO indication of whether it imported the PDF, and whether it imported it to an existing play? Is it waiting for me to enter a new play? No evidence the import worked. Changing things like character names, Enter new name, nothing indicating it 'saved'. Go back, and the character name is back to 'Me'. Figured out I had to enter the name and then hit 'change name'. This is just a VERY, VERY painful user interface. A re-think is required. I am discouraged and getting a refund.

Paul Hyu

Very useful for tv auditions I love this app. I use it for self tapes, and tv auditions. Though to be fair, I haven't been cast yet since I started! I have had a recall for Vera, though!

Kevin McCoy

Meh, not what i was hoping for It does what you need it to, but you'd be better off using a free audio app and cueing up lines from a recording.

Helen Stirling

Very useful but... It's its not very intuitive. Would benefit from a tutorial and an option, in Android, to change pitch on other voices so you can distinguish lines better

Dumont Darsey

Helpful but cumbersome A lot of great features for memorizing lines. However the navigation is kind of confusing. Apparently the iPhone version let's you change the voice pitch of characters but I can't see that for Android.

Becky Neale

Not easy I had to get a refund! It was impossible to navigate!!!

Taien Quinn

Was working fine this morning then abruptly started repeating lines rather than playing the next one... not very useful... potential bug on samsung galaxy s4?

Mia Wilson

Horrible Horrible. Nothing as advertised. I want my money back.

Allen Pilgrim

Buggy. No Demo. Recommend Avoid. There are so many bugs in this which helps me understand why they do not provide a demo or lite version. 1) Unable to select from pull down menu when it is open but has been moved to the background. Must use recent. 2) Shuts off after a few minutes of the screen being off. I have it set like other apps to remain on even if the screen is off but it doesn't. What makes this even more frustrating is that it goes back to the first line for that session and not the place where it stopped. 3) Beginning of lines is sometimes cut off. 4) The interface is awkward to use and some features show up in one place but not another. 5) 11/18/15 - I tried to exit but it kept playing in the background. I started it again and assumed that when I pressed play it would start playing that and stop the other one. Now it played both. The only positive is that you can record individual lines and play them back in various ways. I should have followed my normal plan of avoiding apps with very few installed. This was recommended by a fellow actor who "heard" that it was good. They will all be hearing that it's bad from me. I would recommend looking for another app.

Susan Hedges

Android vsn missing one important thing! :( I loved this app, had it on my iPhone for over a year and boy did it ever come in handy! It is a little difficult to navigate but if you play around with it, you'll get it. BUT! I am devastated that the Android vsn does not allow pitch changes for the characters! This is one of the main reasons I paid for it twice instead of going with a different program and now I don't even have that capability. Unless someone else records the other lines there is no differentiation between lines. PLEASE FIX THIS!!

Tammy Neal

It's okay but definitely could be better I think this app still has a lot of bugs that need to be tweak. It's cool though but I don't think it's user friendly. Especially how the input format is designed.

Becky McCutcheon

Don't understand it I guess It took me a really long time to figure out how it worked when I got it. I was reading the tutorials and it still took a while. Now, I just want to read a script my director sent me and it keeps opening in this app. I don't want that and it won't change!! It won't even put it in the app so I can look at it. Can you please change this? And if not then will uninstalling it fix the problem? I don't want to feel like I wasted money :(

Randy Magruder

This app is awesome It does everything you expect it to do, and then some! It considerably reduced the time it takes me to memorize my lines. Some users think it's too complicated, but then again, there are people that find texting or skyping is too complicated.. with a little time and effort you will discover and appreciate its great potential.

Rob Bird

Unable to Add Scripts or Scenes This app has lots of options but the functionality seems limited. I'm only able to have one script. I am not able to add a "new script", "rename script", "rename scene", "add scene", or "add character".

Missy Narrance

Can't figure Out how to enter lines. Please create a how to use FAQ! Or give me my money back!!!

Kevin Fairburn

Ridiculously buggy, terrible workflow, the record and stop record process just doesn't work properly on my phone (HTC M9). Uninstalling, please refund me.

Gary Clevenger

Like previous review, way too complicated. Waste of money.

Nathaniel Negron

Remarkable. Truly remarkable. I have been using LineLearner to run through my script and all I say is that this is exceptional! Being able to run lines without needing someone on book is a dream come true and I have recommended this as a MUST BUY app to all of my fellow actors. Thank you so very much!

Lydia Cashman

Perfect I love it and it has helped me so much!

Julia Langholt

I had to return it I bought this app specifically for the ability to prompt the other person's lines, but the settings would never save and it would never pause after the gap like I told it to. Doesn't suit my needs.

David Ely

Showed up to first rehearsal off book. I had the lead and center role with over 600 lines. With this app, I arrived to the first rehearsal off book. If you can find the record button you can make use of it. Watch the tutorials on YouTube. They help compensate for small bits of awkward interfacing. But find the record mic and you're good to go. If you pay attention, the interface is only odd occasionally. Love it !

Daniel Bolingbroke

Badly needs improvement. Fairly good but skips lines randomly in android (really bad for your lines confidence) and remains on in playback mode when you take a call meaning you have to hang up - switch off the playback and call the person back. You also can't get into the app via the system drop down. Lower than the standard you would expect from a free app not one you pay for.

Mark Mandell

Not that "cooperative" It seems that no matter how much I try to change a scene's speech pattern (i.e., gaps-lines, no gaps, etc.), it doesn't do that when I then return to the scene. It's "obstinate" about sticking with the configuration it had before. Maybe an update caused this or an update is needed to correct?

Maik Barrett

Very useful app, well worth the money Granted, it's not the most intuitive of apps, but I found my way around it quickly. There is a tutorial available online, but I didn't really need to refer to it. Having just taken on one of the lead parts in a play, this app has helped me to learn a lot of my lines much quicker than I expected. Also saves my family from having to run lines with me, and means I can now use my car commute to learn lines, too.

Cory Hardin

Update ASAP! The android version is terrible in comparison to the iPhone one. They can control the speed of play, which is something that would be really helpful!

Matt Wilman

Invaluable Not the smoothest app in the world, but the idea is awesome and it's a brilliant tool for drilling lines, dont expect to be able to get to performance level with it, but it will get the words to stick!

Eric Zasadil

This is not an intuitive program and very limited in functionality compared to Script Rehearser which is free. Near as I can tell after figuring out how to import a PDF it only displays it. It does not parse it like Script Rehearser. But the program is so hard to figure out how to use it might write the script for you for all I know. Really dis pointed in this app. I don't want to record voices so I think it's best for people who do want to do that.

darren enright

Bad app don't bother App constantly repeats lines and jumping and missing lines and prompts. Total waste of money. The developer should be ashamed

David Goodloe

Add voice distinction It would really cool, if we can have distinction in voices, e.g., male or female, high pitch and low pitch voice, to easy identify which voices belong to who.

Rick S Barnes

Awesome Just love this app
