LibreOffice is the world's most popular Open Source office app - and now it's on Android.

This app is in active development, and not yet stable. Feedback and bug reports are very welcome. For now, do not use it for mission-critical tasks – it may misbehave!

- Microsoft Office 2007/2010/2013 (.docx, .pptx, .xlsx, .dotx, .xltx, .ppsx)

About the app:

LibreOffice Viewer uses the same engine as LibreOffice for Windows, Mac, and Linux. This, combined with a new front-end based on Firefox for Android, reads documents similarly to LibreOffice desktop.

Collabora Engineers Tor Lillqvist, Tomaž Vajngerl, and Michael Meeks have been developing Android support since 2012, with the help of Google Summer of Code students Andrzej Hunt and Iain Billet.

Open Source - Mozilla Public License v2 and other

This app is made by LibreOffice From Collabora, with support from The Document Foundation, and SMOOSE. SUSE provided a key foundation of cross-platform support, with Google Summer of Code contributions from Andrzej Hunt and Ian Billet, along with improvements from Igalia S.L., and core components by Mozilla Corporation. Full LibreOffice credits: Special thanks to the hundreds of independent LibreOffice contributors.

Keeps getting better! Thanks for the hard work on this ?

Gregory Opera

The beginning of something beautiful. The LibreOffice Open Source project has been slow to adapt to the rise of mobile devices and thus far, support for OpenDocument Formats has been limited... Hence, LibreOffice Viewer is a welcome start that permits the viewing of most common productivity filetypes on mobile devices and is certainly a step in the right direction - I'd love to see an in-application "donation" feature however, in addition to a "mobile" version of LibreOffice itself (i.e. Not just a viewer) in the future.

P Vecchi

Excellent Office Suite Using it on Linux and not on Android, thanks LibreOffice for allowing people to free themselves from MS Office

Leon Belmont

Congrats when will this become an editor?

Gaurav jain

Not good but not so bad Only problem is opening & display ms documents..

nick merritt

Making progress, not ready for production Okay first point, its a beta app so complaining about a missing feature or how you could do it better just doesn't help..Go make your own app or find a way to contribute to the project. Second point, be THANKFUL you will eventually have a completely free/open source document suite for android.

A Google User

Finally Waited so long to see this happen! Thank you and good luck with porting all features.

Jovan Stosic

Jovan Stosic At last I can open on my tablet libre office documents. Great work!

Subhendu Ghosh

Document types not recognized Does not seem to set as the default app for LO docs. Download and then open works.

Thiago Jourdan

It's OK, is in development But CALC was working, even if just to display the data. Now, it crashes when it's opened. Hope it gets fixed next update. EDIT: The problem (probably) is happening because I putted a password on the file. ^^

Charles Downey Jr

Only installs, USB or SD storage Could not install directly to my Samsung S3...

Danny Deutsch

decryption I need it to ask me for a password to open encrypted files

herry susanto

Generally good and helpful. But, found one issue, my .odt files in sd card cannot be opened. Even writer doesn't detect it.

srinivas kumar

Encouragement My favourite office suite on desktop. I'm rooting for you to make it as awesome on Android

Laurent Repond

Great first step in porting LibreOffice :)

Douglas Almquist

Dont bother Opening a simple .ods spreadsheet fails.

Jordi Rubió

Awesome I want more features!!!!

Thomas Harrington

Big promise, so far little substance I would love to be able to access and read my many LibreOffice documents on my phone (I can live without actual editing capability given the limitations of an Android keyboard and lack of a mouse equivalent). Unfortunately, the present version , at least, does not seem to be able to connect to Microsoft OneDrive where most of my documents reside; if it can, it's not at all apparent how.

Eu Yang Ong

Slow When I open my file with it, it read my file so slow!! (Maybe it's still a beta version?) I know it's a viewer but no features at all! And, it takes so much space!!

Mac Tomb

Great to see on android :) Please don't ruin it with (like us on facebook) and (rate/share our app) popups that make android feel more a social network than an operating system.

Nazim Mer

Loving it Glad to see a beloved office suite end up on android.....Good luck developers

Al Burke

Nice start Glad this is now a thing, but support for the likes of Dropbox would be useful.

Paul Bentley

At last So pleased libre office is now moving onto android. Fingers crossed when it is further developed it will allow saving of files on the device unlike other office suites that force you to save files on a cloud.

A Google User

Graphs not displayed Nice start, indisputably, but hen opening an ods file graphs are not displayed at all, I hope this feature will be improved as soon as possible

Andrew Gaydenko

Excellent start! At last we have a real hope to get a real odt viewer!

Lynn Nicholls

Quits while trying to open a .ods file that I created on my MacBook? I can appreciate the effort, but this still needs work.

Bob Porvan

Works I have a minor request: is there any chance the logo can be reworked a little? It's not the design, it's the dimensions that really make it sticks out like a sore thumb in the app draw. Just a white or grey circle behind the app logo; nothing radical. Do it for your customers with OCD. Otherwise, splendid work.

Stephen Arnold

Good Start, but Work in Progress Useful app for reading Libreoffice documents, but it is slow to open them. Also, it would be better if changing tabs in Calculate or slides in Impress could be achieved by swiping the screen. The opening screen to select folders is quirky and I can see no way to access the SD card.

Simon Phipps

Just what I wanted Displays the many ODF documents I receive perfectly on my phone.

John Schroeder

Good start Libreoffice has just started making builds for Android and so far things are looking promising. Opening documents and spreadsheets works okay and I'm looking forward to being able to edit files.

A анонимный

Quick updates If only LibreOffice bugs would get fixed this fast… :)

Salin Mooch

Getting better all the time I'll admit I'm excited that a true port of libreoffice is coming to android and that allows me to overlook some issues ; however since the beta started I have gone from no documents opening to about 90% of them including some papers with advanced formating and citations via zotero. Can't wait to actually edit!

Juan Carlos

Good Nice office viewer

Aleksandr Vasilenko

Works well Opens writer files well, uses correct fonts, and zooms really well. However spreadsheets don't open correctly still. This is an improvement from my one star review. When it did not open anything.

Guy Lunardi

Great Beta release Amazed at how many ODF files I had managed to download on my phone by accident over the years. The Beta viewer opened all the files I tried without problems. Can't wait to try the next version.

Rafael Berrios

Crash, crash, and more crashes. Super slow rendering of documents and near constant crashes made this app unusable.

Ljiljan Veselinovic

Complex documents Great improvement. Now complex documents can be opened. App just crashed once. Calc is not rendering screen the best way, but document was opened.

Alexey Knyshev

Successfully opened .odt • Please add pdf export

Sergey Krylov

Do not work tried to open ordinary calc file. it didn't work. deleted

Денис Савицкий

PDF export ?! draws xls & docs at tegranote7c app MUST HAVE option to PRINT viewed document or just export it to standart size pdf file. And please ... Please get rid of top menu strip even in fullscreen mode its very huge ))

Никита Костовский

crash it can open odt, but crashes with doc

Maxim Britov

Return button shouldn't immeditaly exit, it should be Back. For example in File open dialog.

Dustin Bess

Keeps getting better! Thanks for the hard work on this ?

Pramod Dematagoda

Works well Opens doc files and renders them as good as the desktop client.

Paul Brasington

A long way to go It has little value in this form (there are other better options for viewing ODF files). I'm only aware of one app capable of handling ODT properly on Android, including full editing, and that's Textmaker HD. But the other Softmaker apps can't cope with their ODF equivalents. Still, the LibreOffice people are promising a full touch friendly version in the future.

Brian Server

Don't work on my tablet

Michael John Battista

Very useful when using libre office files

just a begening Very slow to open a calc on my Samsung Galaxy Note2 but I'm sure that it will be better soon

Eddie O'Connor

The Rolls Royce Of Office Suites! Hands down this is the BEST thing to happen to Android. I love the interoperability of this suite, and the ease of use and adoption on this platform is awesome! Now I don't have to switch from Ms Office to Libre Office and back on mobile device! Thank you to all parties involved with this awesome creation!!!

Naiyer Asif

Best Viewer for Microsoft Office files Rendering is painfully slow, though. Interface of file explorer is dated. Should detect files but never does. Settings like "List view" don't persist.

vyshakh hat

Not useful, I feel Why do I need just a viewer, it's just memory waste, so before I download i thought it is a whole set of word processors and such things, waste, I have good ones Who can edit , but expected more from you ,"I am a desktop Windows user with libra office, I expected something like that"

Rhonald John Rose

It was not great in the beginning, but things have improved and started liking the latest versions.

Paul rehsif

Not Ready for Prime Time Navigation between pages is e x t r e m e l y s l o w!!! Crashes frequently. Not worth using.

Lahar Hale

Great work. That's all there is to say.

Gaurav jain

High memory size & some documents not open

A Google User

Graphs not displayed Nice start, indisputably, but hen opening an ods file graphs are not displayed at all, I hope this feature will be improved as soon as possible

Clayton Miller

Libre almost Almost as expected, what that guy said. One thing I do have to add, is that my odt and ods files will now open in google drive while this is installed! Now we just need to wait for stability patches!

Michael McFadden

there are better document viewers but I stand by LibreOffice which is a free, heavyweight document tool with all the features of expensive commercial alternatives. I'm sure this app will develop past Beta to reach the usual high LibreOffice standards and rival other products.

extercy x

No access to SD Card I support Libre as I use it in Linux Mint but I have to uninstall this because it has no access to SD Card storage. Please have an option to hide system files. Will explore this in the future.

Matt Johnson

Yeah! Cool! Roger Roger. Very excited to see LibreOffice for Android. Looking forward to some great office productivity times.[Hey it's still beta people. Adjust your expectations accordingly.]

R G Oden Jr

3.5 out of 5 One HUGE problem! App will not access my microSD card files. I keep all my files on it where possible, so this is a big handicap for the app. I have a Samsung Galaxy S5, running 6.0.1.

Would love for this to have worked... I may be ahead of the curve as I'm running android nougat 7.0, but at present the app just crashes at the point of opening a document. It is a beta so hoping this will be rectified at some point soon. ?. Sadly it is now on the uninstall lost. Will look again at some point in the future.

Ruth Cooper

Only word processor I will use Thanks for the phone version. I have been using Libre Office since back when it was Open Office. Works on my computer which has Ubuntu Studio (Linux) for its operating system. Lets me convert things to those other overpriced formats in order to send things to people who've been fooled by the advertising and also be able to read what they send me.

A Greg

Cannot open password protected odt docs

Steve Fury

Useless Does not read SD card galaxy s7

Andrea Musy

Poor Very poor app

Dustin Bess

Keeps getting better! Thanks for the hard work on this ?
