LectureVideos is a screencast extension to LectureNotes for video and audio recording while taking handwritten notes using LectureNotes.

It has been designed while having a user at university (or at school) in mind, for instance a lecturer who is using it for producing tutorial videos or for recording her/his lecture while teaching using LectureNotes (by writing on the device and projecting the screen content for the audience) or a student who is using it to prepare tutorial videos for fellow students. However, it has many potential applications outside university, for instance in business or technology.

Its major target devices are tablets with Android 4.1 or later (it is developed on a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, an Asus Nexus 7, a Samsung Nexus 10, and an Asus MeMO Pad).

NOTE: LectureVideos cannot be used on its own, it is designed to serve as an extension for LectureNotes and can only be used in conjunction with it. If you wish to record video and audio while taking handwritten notes, launch LectureNotes and start video and audio recording there, the video and audio files will be stored within the corresponding notebook directory.

LectureVideos uses the Android MediaCodec API that became available with Android Jelly Bean to encode video and audio, so that Android 4.1 or later is required. It has been carefully tested on a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, an Asus Nexus 7, a Samsung Nexus 10, and an Asus MeMO Pad. However, since the behaviors of the Android MediaCodec differ significantly between devices, LectureVideos might not work on a given device.

LectureVideos entirely relies on the Android MediaCodec and does neither contain any codecs nor any other encoding, decoding, multiplexing, or demultiplexing code (mainly to avoid legal problems).

User feedback:
We would love to hear from you, please send feedback and feature requests to us by email (devel [a] acadoid.com). If you encounter a problem with the app, please email us and we will do our very best to fix it quickly.

Major features:
* requires only minimal permissions and no internet connection (we do respect your privacy!)
* allows display content and audio signals to be recorded while taking handwritten notes using LectureNotes (root permissions not required)
* allows recorded display content and audio signals to be replayed using LectureNotes
* allows recorded display content and audio signals to be multiplexed into an MP4 container file using LectureNotes (devices with Android 4.3 or later only)

Possible issue: For good audio quality, it is advisable to use an external microphone, in particular when taking notes with a stylus with a hard tip in parallel (the noise that the tip causes on the device display and human voices are in the same frequency range and the former cannot be filtered away reliably).

Whats new

    * several minor improvements
    * Russian and Japanese localization added (languages of the largest user proportions after English, German, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, and French, other languages will follow in order of user proportion)
    * Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, and French localization added
    * optional video/audio time offset added
    * more devices supported
    * Korean localization added

Is it being resolved? Looks diametrically opposite to lecture notes. I gave 5 star to lecture notes and 1 to this. All videos get recorded with 0 length. Hope it is not Waste of money. Tried all options. Need help...... (Edited my feedback after few months from here further)...Long back I was offered a refund by developer(developer contacted me and was very helpful), since this problem seems to be due to google's policy. However I continued expecting either google to change an unnecessary policy or atleast developer to develop this small resolution (involving storage in Ext SDcard). Updates are coming but I am not getting a solution. But my love for lecture notes(other product) makes me to live with the expectation still. Atleast can such a loyal paid customer know an expected date??

Programmed well, but... Awesome application. Records your note taking session perfectly.

Very poor The previous version have some problems when recording long video on my device (Nexus 7 2013 mobile on a stock rom). After the current update, I can record 720p video/12fps with no problem. I'm looking forward to see more updates and features of the apps.

Love the app but issue with exporting to YouTube. Looks like a bug as it starts and 2 seconds later it returns to previous frame.

nop pon

Very good app

good app but coulda have been better PROS: it is beautifully integrated with lecture notes. one should not hate it because it is not a stand alone screen capturer; it is not meant to be so. i feel (stand alone screen capturer + lecture notes) will make my tablet (10.1 pre-2014) run slow. lec vids work as a breeze. 》》》》》CONS: if you do NOT have the latest android version kitkat, then the video and audio will saved separately in h264 and 3gp formats respectively. the audio file has the correct speed; however, the video file is 2.08 times faster. you realize this when you play the files independently. if u play in lec notes, they sync perfectly. i dont have kitkat yet and dont know when I will finally get it in India although they have released in Germany. anyways, solution to this problem should not depend on getting kitkat.

Best app The best app to explain, and create tutorials.

Best student app suite in the market I have lecture notes, lecture recordings, and now lecture videos. These apps are priceless for me as a student, although these are clearly ground breaking apps for students using android and they could cost more, the prices are super cheap (thank goodness). I have one suggestion, an app for flashcards for studying or making speeches that also attaches to the note book. I just found there is even a camera option to take pictures within the note book (great for snapping pics of book pages and reading later)

Replay issues There used to be a huge delay in navigating the recodings but now its impruved, so i changed my rating from 3 to 5. It would be good if u could also open the lecture notes app with the multytask feature of some tablets and take additional notes on things u miss during the lecture.

Mike Brantjes

The best, could not do without

I have problem I have galaxy note 8 wifi. I use lecture note every day ,, love the app so much, but the video replay is always came up with two layers I dont why is there a way to fix it,, am not rooted and 4.2.2 , Please let me know if there is a fix to my problem

Ziping Liu

Brilliant I'm currently a college student. I use this to make videos on how to do problems and stuff and it's very easy just to email them to my friends to show them how I did a math problem or something. It's easy to use and records very well. No fuss. The size of the videos are also very small, a five minute video will be around 6 mb which is a huge plus. You can share the videos you make easily. Converting the video into MP4 is a little slow though. If your video is 10 minutes long it will take 10 minutes to render so that it can be shared via email or whatever you want....

Albert Leonardo

Great app and great customer service!!! I give five stars for the application and customer service. They are very helpful and patient in answering my every question about technical stuffs

Good overall I have a Note 8.0 which let's me have a split screen. Well I thought that video recording meant I could use Lecture Notes in one screen and have the other screen recording the lecture with the camera on the back of the tablet. That way when I am home I can review the video and look at my notes at the same time. Oh well, still a good product for the price. I will keep it.

Great app Great screencasting app. I use it to write down school lectures along with my professor's voice (good idea to get a professor's permission first). This way you can practically relive the lecture afterwards or even share it with your buddy who skipped the class (might have to multiplex it first). I used a livescribe pen before but this app is way better since you get to record stuff with all the functionality the lecturenotes has to offer. Make sure you sit at the front row in class. Glaxy note mic sucks at picking up voice at a large distance.

thrinadh k

Need improvement No pause button. While recording writing is not real time, there is some delay b/w writing and display..even with low resolution and low frame rate options enabled.. I am sure it is not becz of my device performance.. Any suggestions?

max wong

Dont buy this app until you read this!!!!!!! No pause button : ( 1. Dont buy this app until they add pause button to recording. They only have a start and stop button. Pretty much useless as video recording. I bought this thinking it like a whiteboard where you can pause and undo mistakes and continue recording. It just record what ever you write with just start and stop. I dont want my money back, but please fix this. I will give better review once this is fix. So much potential. Not ready from prime time. People giving five stars are not being honest at all.

Navpreet Singh Kaloty

Good but some work needed This app is awesome however missing a couple of features like pause button. I know acadroid is awesome at listening to his customers. However, the app developer is awesome!!

Giovanni Sirio Carmantini

I can't believe you've got only 14 reviews with this fantastic extension. Keep up the good work, five more stars from me.

Great for "flipped lessons" on a Galaxy Note 10.1 As a teacher, I have been hunting for a method to use the s-pen on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 to create recorded "lessons" for my students, and this is the answer! With lecturenotes and the recordings and videos add-ons (total cost $8.38 CDN) , I can record a complete explanation and then post the result to Youtube or otherwise share the video. At the moment, getting the video and audio stream to ones PC and then to Youtube or elsewhere for sharing is not that easy, but I am sure we will have a good workflow soon. The author is responsive and helpful. This was one type of app I had on my iPad that I was still looking for an Android version for. Now I have it and am very happy! I have found two different ways that work for muxing the video and audio, but neither is super easy yet. But it WORKS! :) For me this makes the Samsung Note 10.1 a dynamite teacher student tool.

Rodney Jordan

Another 5 star app from acadoid Samsung should seriously consider hiring this team. This is a great tool for recording your note taking such that you play it back and easily make the link between the hours you made and the audio. Fantastic.

Atbin Yeganeh

Amazing Wow its amazing, i can explain all the manual for my fathet, when he has a problem with the computer. So i explan for him the way with both voice and writing and email it to him. Thanks

Peter Hocking

Great App is great after figuring out how to work it. Exports two files one video and other audio...pity they are not synced together as it would be great to upload tutorials onto YouTube. Next version perhaps? :)

Javier Bosch

Great App but how to use it? I was waiting for this for a long time. But Can you give specific instruction on how to use it? I cannot find a link in the menu to start recording...etc. Say some trainer videos... Much Appreciated, Thank you.

Royce Grewer

Stunning! Absolutely incredible. I record myself solving a math problem and can replay the video with my lecture for my students at will. Uploads seamlessly to Dropbox. One request. The Lightscribe pen system allows a user to tap a location on their notes to jump to that spot in the lecture video/audio. Is this possible to implement?

David Urminsky

Awesome extention to an already excellent app This has been just what I have been looking for to use on my galaxy note 10.1. Developers have been very helpful. Uplpaded first video in just min after creation (required some knowledge of ffmpeg)

Eric Anderson

Amazing Really great extension to the best note taking app on Android. Buy this to support the developer!

Jeff Watts

Great App and Great Support I've been using this app to record some educational videos, and as many others have said, it's a terrific app. I mainly want to comment on the support I received from the developer. Recently, I encountered a problem with the app on my somewhat-uncommon phone. I reported the error message I was receiving via email to the developer, and I received a reply back in less than 24 hours. He send me a debug version of the apk to install on my phone and asked me to send him the log file output so that he could debug the problem. Long story short, he resolved the problem within about 24 hours and made plans for an immediate update to the app store. I felt that this was superior customer service for an app that I paid so little for. I've evaluated a lot of different options for online course/lecture recording, and this one is the best. I hope that you will buy this app and support this terrific developer.

Rob Lahaye

Excellent A very practical and useful app for both student- and teacher-type of users. However, tutorials or help resources are difficult to find and scattered over various places. Maybe list all help resources at one website!?!

Aaron M. May

Awesome extension. I feel this app will help tremendously with my studies this semester.

Andres Reyes

Awesome Another great add on for an amazing application. Your applications are perfect for the note 10.1. Much better than included suite from Samsung for real productivity.

Mnr Almsbu

Wonderful addition to the app except for two things. Ever since i downloaded this, there is a lag between my stylus and the actual writing on note ONLY while recording. Can I do anything about this? Also, Is there any way of merging all the videos of one notebook as one? Because more often than not, I accidentally exit during a lecture and have to start a new video meaning I will have to extract two vids.

Satish Kashyap

When converted into MP4 ... Voice is like noise.. It is not audible.... Please help me.... Lecture videos app is absolutely brilliant ...I don't find any lag while recording... But when I shared after converting to MP4 , problem starts... Voice is not audible.... How can I get out of this problem...

William Thebrand

Programmed well, but... Awesome application. Records your note taking session perfectly.

John Marsh

Best out there for video lectures I use this along with Lecture Notes to make tutorial and problem solving videos for math and engineering students. It is the best I've found for this purpose!

Carsten Urbach

Very nice! Could one also video resale the speaker using the device camera?

Mike Ridley

No recording on pixel c Just bought but no recordings on pixel c. /After good advice from developer, all is working fine.

Nipuna Jayatunge

Fantastic App It's got loads of functionality. I use this to make tutorial videos for my students. Customizability is amazing. I'd like it if we could save our handwriting as a vectorized pdf, but this is a minor prrsonal preference thing, the image quality is not poor by any means.

Rob Campbell

Great for creating screencasts for my website I'm an engineer who teaches and writes about my discipline on my website, Practical Precision, and it's incredibly powerful to be able to share as if I'm drawing on a white board in front of a class.
