Won't let me download a magazine subscription Killed my subscription to Outdoor Canada! Although I have paid for it, it won't show up for download any longer. It quit in January.
About epub extension I like this app but not the way this crumbles epub book internally... besides, this doesn't catch up epub extensions itself, so the only way is it to import if recognises the file.
Toyanti Doesn't have all books in a series, its always missing 1 book out of every series i've purchased and google books r at least $1 cheaper, but I luv it!
50 Shades of Grey Kobo is the best app for reading on the go, buses trains, lunch breaks etc.. First book I read was 50 Shades of Grey. Killer app tho, have d/loaded it onto every phone I've had, using same account so just give it a go!!
Good reading ap I am very happy with this as a reading ap. The only problem I have is that the footnotes are not aligned with my reading pages. I was reading a bio and it was quite a way into the reading before I came across a page full of footnotes which no longer had a relevance to the page I was up to. You need to be able to tap the footnote and have it display on the screen for you at the appropriate reading page.
Useless Can't even sign in! Uninstalled, re - installed, updated.....tap sign in and a blank page comes up! Seems to be nothing I can do! Just transferred over from blink box & supremely unimpressed. :(
Better than Google books The app is the best e reading app I've used by a long shot but shame the kobo store prices aren't as competitive as Google and kindle as I'm still forced to use those apps due to affordability
Works well with device specific hickup Great app with good content, on samsung galaxy note 10.1 2014 edition when you try to grab something for scrapbooking out of a magazine, it stays in this overview mode with the magazine cropped and shaded. Not ideal
Its pretty good Its for wat I need but if you could make it so that its less laggy when turning pages that would be great
Awesome app Absolutely love this app , being able to preview books so you have a list of books you want to read is awesome , I'm terrible for forgetting authors so this is perfect
Love it I haven't had a problem with it. I really enjoy being able to download my books in the app without needing to sign into mg browser.
Easy-ish to use I am more used to the Kindle and it took me a while to negotiate this app's eccentricities! I couldn't find the book I had just downloaded but maybe I was just impatient because it was there. Easy to read with the app and alter settings.
Sluggish app with glitches Page turning often hangs for a second or two with a longer pause between chapters. The last book I downloaded is still showing only 98% complete even though I am already reading it. I also don't like the settings bar coming up every time you touch the page in the wrong place when trying to turn pages. Could do with some improvements.
Not bad on older devices This app works very well on my ancient, but still usable, Samsung tablet. Some actions are a bit obscure and not too easy to find foreign language books. Otherwise it works OK for us.
New found love of books Since having kids I don't have a lot of spare time for reading and paper books just got played with. This app is great for saving space and easy to use almost better that having a proper books
Love love love Easy transactions and GOOD free books. Got hooked on a new author because of their free book selection.
Useless for technical books The app lets you highlight passages, as anyone reading a technical document would do but, there is no way to export them. Unless you send each highlight ONE by ONE via email. Which is hell when you have hundreds of highlights! I'll use the Mantano reader for that purpose from now on.
Kobo app I love this app. Its just as good if not better than the kindle app. Reading life is a great bonus
Too Many Problems I loved the app until it continually had errors when I would switch between apps (like from Kobo to messages). When I'd go back to reading it would say there was an error and I'd have to reload the book. Then I'd have to find my page because it wouldn't save it- dog earing the pages became very important (I don't know if there was a way to bookmark it but I liked the dog ear idea and used it as a bookmark). I also wish it didn't take a few seconds to flip to the next page. But other than that it was good.
Best Reading App So Far I've downloaded Allllll kinds of apps to simply read, and they all suck! Not this one, I Love It!! And they allow you to download books for FREE. They also give you the option to get any magazine FREE for 14 days. AWESOME!!
Awful Been forced to use this since blink book stopped, and its awful both app and kobo in general, app is awful to use and slow, missing most of my books and some that I purchased are no longer available.
Love it but problem with night mode It's fantastically awesome but please the fact that in night mode the letters stay black - you guessed it: black letters in black background means no book to read!
Failing to load books I really want to like it. In the past it loaded my books fine. Now when you open a book it only gives me a loading screen and won't actually run the book. This loading issue - and my inability to figure out how to turn up screen brightness - make me feel like I wasted my money on my Kobo-readable only books.
Kobo books Love this app worth downloading if you love reading books the selection of books is fab too and you can get a whole series of books at really good prices and there a lot cheaper then some of the shops .
Great reader Easy to navigate, controlling menu system sometimes not intuitive.
An option for the speed of page turning animation should be added The app is great. Page rendering is fast and good looking. I find the page turning to be a little too slow. (Don't know if it has anything to do with phone specs, mine is HTC droid DNA). It would be better if i can customize the speed of the animation. I also find the animation on Google book more fluid, it's faster and doesn't have much shadow of the page being turn. Anw, the app is the best that i can find. Gave it 5 stars and hope that the issue i talk here will be taken into consideration.
Kobo Books A very Easy App to Use,pages run smoothly also a good choose of books however it has some irritating features like the pop ups on the home page which aren't relevant and also when your reading the synopsis a pop up regarding other books appears ,this is very iritating
Could be greatly improved to ease experience. While using this on my samsung phone app...Won't allow magazines. Does not sync with all open books. Only the last two read. Does not show books purchased and not started. So once I've read the two I'm allowed. Then I have to go back to my kobo to open more, then I can read further on other devices. Not seemless and intuitive as I had hoped. Nice to be able to read the book I have started...useless at other functions.
Getting better The home page can get too cluttered. Love how it keeps track of series I'm reading but it's a new tab for every book I read in same series and things i just dismiss pops back on home page. A stupid award called kill the commute on jan 15th keeps coming back like a bad alergic rash. the suggested for you window suggests so much and often it's like not being allowed to say no junk mail. Options for organising books don't work well. Might be nice to name files and organize them myself.
No how many times your unsubscribe from emails or notification kobo keeps sending stuff can't wait till i finish book so i can get rid of this app
Good but annoying Good reader but you get like 10 alert recommended book alerts a day.. Urgh... Tempted to uninstall.
Nice reader need few more improvements Nice and convenient book reader easy to use and smooth, yet sometimes it does not recognize some of the PDF files or other ebooks present on my device, this point needs to be considered. Koboo store is fine but laggy.
Great app overall but needs some fixes... Nice to use on both tablet & phone. The site & app needs some tweaking. 2 issue's: 1. free books section never shows on the app. Free books aren't searchable at all on the site or app. Can only find free books by going in the free section on the website. No other way. 2. Adding books to my library, there's almost always no notification it's processed. This is the case for both website & app. Please fix this basic things. Will amend my review.
Needs work! As much as I would love to give this a thumbs up, I am unable to rate it past mediocre. Mind you, it is more what Kobo adds to my book lists, and what they don't. They put on recommendations of what I should read. I don't want or need this. I know what I like to read. Also, I bought a book last night, and it still hasn't been added to my library. And I know the purchase went through, as I got an email receipt acknowledging my purchase. I decided to wrote a review on Kobos website and I got this email from them: We value all feedback from the Kobo community, and would love to share your comments with other readers. While checking your review for publication, we noticed it may violate our submission guidelines and regret that we cannot publish your review in its current form. The review I wrote was: I have been a Videomaker reader since the first issue. When I saw this book, I bought it right away. That was last week. However, I have not been able to download the book, as I keep getting the error "The requested eBook title cannot be downloaded at this time due to difficulty in communicating with the retail site. Please try again later." I recomment buying t
Where's my book? I just bought a book but it won't appear in my library. Lots of frustrated taps on the sync button.
Accessible, affordable and professional I am loving the selection of novels and I just can't stop reading now, this application has slain the demons of my free time. It is also worth mentioning that the interface is minimal and intuitive, I won't be wasting money on paperbacks ever again. I have already recommend Kobo to friends and they are all equally impressed.
Dissapointing searches The books read great. Very smooth loadings. What I dislike is the store search option. IT'S HORRIBLE!!!!! it NEVER works... Every time I want to search for a book I have to go through my Web browser and search for them through their website. It's highly inconvenient and the reason this app gets a bad review.
Not as good as blinkbox books Having switched over from blink box books I was disappointed as kobo does not seem 100% compatible with the hudl2. Simplistic settings in comparison to blink box, all page transition modes not smooth and annoying. Book page often does not fit properly cutting off text and unlike its predecessor the backlight cuts out after a couple of minutes of reading a page without touching the screen. Not impressed. Bring back blinkbox books.
Good app Good app, easy to use and overall well done. However, some books tend to be formatted poorly (words run into each other without proper spacing and are sometimes misspelled) and pictures are small, and often pow resolution. An option to point out errors in the script for correction would be nice (and really, this should be done beforehand, if this was a hardcopy this sloppy work wouldn't fly).
Crappie app Just uninstalled and reinstalled this app six times because it crashes on start up. What junk Google play book app works flawlessly. If I could give a negative number I would.
Quite good A little buggy in my LG phone but works really well on other devices. Here are a few features I wish you could include, guys: 1) More dictionaries, and 2) A book shop that introduces new books according to the language you are using, be it the language of the system or in the app, and not the place you live in. I live in Spain, but I'm not Spanish and quite frankly, I'm a bit fed up of always having to see the same books in the recommendation shelf ('the sorrow of the queen' or 'the advent of the king').:-
The best reading app out there... Hands down. It's just a shame that Kobo screwed up my original login details so that I must now rely on Facebook to login. Other than a few amateurs working at Kobo and accidentally deleting things they shouldn't be, their app is excellent and their store and its prices are fairly good.
Pretty good I like the app, but it is a bit annoying that the extra spacing between paragraphs to indicate a scene/viewpoint change are not displayed properly. It can be quite confusing to read from one paragraph to another with no indication that the scene has changed. Also, the text is sometimes rendered strangely with the words nearest the margins sometimes slightly cut off, almost like it was printed poorly, which seems odd since it's not actually printed. It's still readable, but it's a minor annoyance.
Annoying 'please rate app' message The latest Kobo version's persistent "please rate app" message brought this from a 4 star to a two star. I first rated this app 4 stars but the persistent request even after rating it or choosing "don't ask again" option repeatedly does not stop the reminders. Kobo if you are reading this, please fix this as it sours the whole reading experience.
little annoyances It does get annoying to be asked to rate the app when I have already rated it. If you could please fix that it would be great. Other than that it a great app and I enjoy earning my stickers
Update a bit confusing The 'Google sign in' button is displayed in a way that suggests one needs to sign in to use the app at all. The standard Kobo buttons fade away in the background. Initially I was confused into thinking I now need yo sign in to Google in order to use Kobo, not an appealing concept. Fortunately it's just a case of a confusing GUI.
Good reading app But doesn't sync properly between my Samsung phone and ipad. Got charged twice for the same book.
Awesome Love this app, however there are a few books that I've been wanting to read for 2 months now but cannot find it on the app. Not sure if its the app or what?? And the persistent asking to rate the app got annoying, so here I am lol Otherwise, love it !
Perfect for me Love the new UI. Neat and tidy. But 'days & hours' to finish the title at the bottom is pretty redundant. It is not very accurate and needless to say the speed of reader varies. The reading experience is excellent. Love the presentation. If the free classics were easy to find in a different section under "free titles" would be awesome! Thanks.
Do NOT download THIS app! Do Yourself a favor, and go to Kindle. None of My books will open now. NONE. I had been having trouble with a few, but now? NONE of them open! I had contacted Kobo about this problem, and had tried Everything they suggested. NOTHING WORKED! I'm going to Kindle. I'm ALSO going to bring litigation against Kobo to try and recoup My Monies from ALL My books that I purchased from this HORRIBLE COMPANY!
Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon The most fantastic books EVER! If you put 10 women in a room 9 of them have read them and I actually got to meet Ms. Gabaldon and have a signed copy of An Echo in the Bone which is so awesome to me. And NOW it's, in my opinion, the best TV show ever made. Absolutely Fantastic!!!
updated home screen on my old android. Really liked it,so much easier to read. Loaded kobo on to this one and don't have it. Back to the old way. Much prefer the new updates.
Great app for readers Easy to use, informative and a great selection of titles in the marketplace. Thumbs up.
Good app Use kobo reading app frequently and have only had a few downloading and user glitches. So far nothing an update and reboot can't fix.
It's not allowing me to get on my books unless I go through the reviews and things... I enjoy the app but seriously, let me get on my books!
Not user friendly When I read the description of a book, it will take me back to the start of the section I am browsing. Then I have to page down to where I was in order to continue. Also, it has stopped downloading a book I bought, and there is no obvious way to make contact to query. Kindle is better.
It was ok I liked how u could like a book then see who the author is and begin to read more of their books
Slow and blacks out portions Very slow, keeps crashing. Also blacks out portions of books like a WWII censured letter.
WTF On what planet do you start every chapter with page one? Whoever designed this app needs to read an actual book. No other reader apps that I have come across does this. Sony was the best, unfortunately they are gone...
Kobo I find there are still bugs to fix..my new kobo gift card will not work..I have sent 2 emails to them and no response. A similar thing happened with my last card; it worked for one book and there was money left but I could not buy anymore books arggggg
Needs some work... The my account feature needs work... especially for purchasing... i have kobo credit, but when purchasing a new book it charged my debit card rather than taking amount from my credit. Other than that, its a really good app.
Facebook login option missing... I love my e-reader but I have always used Facebook login for my account. The app currently doesn't allow for it though previously it did. On my Xperia Z3 the drop down for selecting the type of account during sign in doesn't do anything at all... Hope this is fixed so I can use my existing library again!
I love this app but shouldn't it sync with my kobo? I love to read on my phone and my books aren't synced with this app.
Works well ... keeps my place When I move from my reader to my phone the book is sync'd and opens at the correct page.
So so... This used to be a 5 star app for me. In fact, I preferred the smartphone Kobo app to my actual Kobo reader. Recently, though, I traded in my S3 for an S4 and I can no longer change the font in the application. No matter what I set it to, it defaults to the publisher sans serif setting. I find it easier to read with a serif font, but no matter what I do to change it, it stays with the default setting. I can adjust the size, but not the font style. When this is corrected I'll give it a 5 star review.
Basic reading app not many options Only reason I downloaded the app was because my Kobo reader died on me. Really had high hopes the app would be a good replacement on my new tablet, but was dissatisfied. There should options to select many books to mark as read instead of having to close each book separately. Also a way to turn off the autometic rating is needed as soon as you are done reading, I am not interested in sharing my ratings, just want to close a book without that hassle.
Cannot read my books I had the app on S4 and no problem in using it to read books purchased from Kobo. I have just switched to S6 and this app cannot locate my library and I can no longer read my books. Very annoying. Tried diiferent ways to get to my library but just won't let me sign in although I have changed my password. Only allow me to sign in to browse new books to buy but I cannot read them!
Great reads This is a great app that always has the hot new releases when they're released. And great recommendations.
Love Love Kobo. Works really well on my phone. Slight lag on my tablet. Both Samsung
Cumbersome import The app has improved significantly after the update. Reading with it feels good. But importing books is still as slow. It would be nice if I can just pin point the folder and get the app to import my books from that folder instead of having to wait for the app to scan all my files just to add a few books
Books don't download. Bought two books with a gift card. They don't download (says - paused) on android tablet. Can only read on a PC. Next gift, Amazon please (for kindle) as I can read on any device!
The app is much better now. Only problem is that sometimes I'm not able to buy books I'm interested in. Please, if im not interested in a book or author, omit it from my recommended list.
Very good Nice collection but I find prices a bit over rated
Kobo Ebook I have trouble finding books on Kobo as my room is mainly taken up on various awards that I have won of which I am not interested in. Iread books for pleasure and to take my mind off chronic back and hip pain.
Doesn't work Recently my kobo broke melting my charger cable while traveling. I downloaded this app to finish the books and they appear as symbols and freeze my screen. I should have bought a kindle.
List TBR Would love if can mark books to be read. Or make a list of them.
Great app! Can carry all my reading material with me on my tablet!
Slowest Reading App in the World For the last three years, what's kept me from purchasing ebooks from the Kobo store is the reading apps (both for mobile and desktop). Navigation is not intuitive, page turning is way slow and buggy (I've tried it on numerous devices), and the interface is unappealing. The redeeming factor is that they often offer discounts for their books. That's it. Some books I converted to .mobi so I can use the Kindle app. Kobo, change your app developer. They're not that good.
Nasty Rate Us prompt and card not saved What is wrong with you people? Can't you make a clean app focusing user and content? Rate us, Rate us, Rate us. What are you? RESTAURANT OR BAR? Also, card payment never works. On using a debit card it always say couldn't save card. Why you need to save it? Just process it idiots... Forgot to add.. Include price range select option in filter, add Free book filter back, improve search speed in store, lower the RAM usage...God... this seems like a novice unfinished app or just website streamed to an app.
My favourite book app ever! And that's all i have to say bout that
All Kobo is the name of living life.and from generation who is understand keep all this of he life and love.he called it memory of he heart.so many other people they can read it and injoy they self.Kobo is the name of man love.
Where you left off The app isn't great at picking up where you left off if the OS tombstones the app. Frequently I'm taken to my library and have top open the book to continue, unlike Kindle which takes me straight to the page I was on.
Fair App Flipkart had more features. But for me, I can't buy anymore ebooks here since this does not support or accept Indian Bank Debit Cards... and I don't use credit cards. So that's a bummer.
Need development in Kobo application I am existing user of flipkart ebooks. Recently I migrated to Kobo. I am not feeling happy with this new app because "read to me" facility not available with it. I hope the Kobo team will develop and release update to all app users.
Toyanti Doesn't have all books in a series, its always missing 1 book out of every series i've purchased and google books r almost $1 cheaper, but I luv it!
Not bad I use several different apps for reading and this one not bad. Page turning could be better. Haven't spent a lot of time with it yet to know all the quirks. Only downloaded it as I couldn't get a book I wanted through the others I use.
Love but my only concern is I really cant fault Kobo. It has been my go to Reading app . There are so many different books to choose from along with recommendations after you have read a book. My only issue is the screen for night time reading. Adjusting the brightness on the screen or the app doesn't really help. My eyes really strain when I use this app. I noticed google play now detects daytime and night time and will adjust the screen according to that. This is definitely something you guys should consider for you next update
Could be more user friendly Scrolling through multiple menus. The old app gave access to library a lot easier for users. Seems overly complicated when it doesnt need to be. Simplicity is the key
Pretty good Overall a good app. Just a couple minor tweaks - better brightness and font size controls, maybe a small home screen widget that directly opens the book you're currently reading without having to open the entire library. 11/17/15 : would be great if you'd read and answer the reviews before asking me (repeatedly) to rate your app. It's exactly the same as the last review. Try changing something if you're going to update all the time. 2/13/16 : STILL no change. No worse, but no better either.
Pretty decent so far I've been using Kobo for a few years now - there are many free e-books to choose from, (often the first book of a series) which of course results in me getting sucked into more series!!! The app thankfully doesn't crash often for me - on my android phone it glitches out every couple days by mimicking the home screen of my phone and I have to manually close it. Only issue I've experienced so far though!
Nice but a little klunky (sp?) A handy way to access my favourite books but not very efficient at helping me move through to where I left off on another device without first synching, which is not easy when in travel status.
Fine reader, store needs some work The Kobo app is fine as a reader. It gets out of the way so you can read without thinking about the app, as it should. It's OK for shopping for books, if you know the book you want. I find the search results are not great - often lots of irrelevant results, or different versions of the same book clogging multiple pages of results. Similarly, the recommended books, based on my previous reads, are not as 'accurate' as Amazon. I'm often impressed by Amazon's suggestions, not so much with Kobo.
Great reading app I love kobo cause there are so many books that I can buy from it.. (it's so hard to purchase from amazon from Singapore). And Kobo syncs on all devices so I can read it from my reader, mobile or tablet!
Better than Kindle This app is so much better than the Amazon Kindle app. The reading is cleaner, doesn't have gaps where long words push to next line and give a big blank space on line above, and I love the pages on bottom right showing you how many pages are left in a chapter, very handy for knowing how long to finish a chapter before bed. The navigation for finding budget priced and free books is so much better than kindle. It makes it easy to search titles and connects books in series very well.
Like it but I have books that won't open since the update. *4/8/16-The issue is being worked on. I'm glad the responded and that they are looking into it.4/12/16 issue resolved!
Presently I am not able to do any customisation of font type, size, margins etc. Please revive those functions! Till then it is only an OK reader.
Can't buy a book Usually have no problem. However keeps telling me my cart is empty so I can't buy a book!
Latest update is problematic So I finally installed the Feb 2016 update, seeing that it included some desirable library management features. The update icon spun away for days until I forced a stop, and then the app got a nasty habit of crashing whenever I accessed my library. I uninstalled all updates, since I couldn't just roll back one, and that removed all my downloaded books. I reupdated and have the same crash problem. This is not acceptable.
Easy with some nice features I love the way it shows books as finished. Reading is easy, clear and simple layout. Smooth.
Couldn't log into my account I couldn't log into my account its saying your account is linked to Facebook so I tried to login using FB even using FB I couldn't log in. Contacted customer care 3 times still they are NOT resolving the issue. Switched over to Google play books and smashwords.
Can't get book I've downloaded the app, synced my account but my book won't show up. I've done all the troubleshooting I can but it won't work. So fix please.
Fantastic except for 1 thing The app keeps jumping far ahead in the book I'm reading. If I'm I'm page 200, it'll jump to page 500. I don't understand why this keeps happening. This just started recently. If this issue is fixed, I will rate the app better. Other than this, the app works fine and I love it.
The app, widget, & book selection are all really good, but the brightness doesn't dim as much as other book apps for night reading and when you open the app you get a bright flash of white light in your eyes before the black page comes up
Good app Generally a good app. There have been a few books I have wanted that are not listed so I haven't ditched kindle yet.
Kobo Reader for Kobo books is really good. Years ago I had purchased the Sony and when they quit had it transferred to Kobo. I just struggled to download purchases and their site walked me through it all. At 84 it was not very easy but they were patient. Very nice and helpful
Good app, convenient menu for settings at startup, but too many steps to adjust brightness etc.when reading. Like having place kept on phone or tablet. Not interested in reading statistics, lists of previous books, or what others are reading, just want to open my book and read.
Great App I like how it can be synced with other devices so I can keep track of where I am in a book no matter what device I'm using. I like that it is in color instead of black and white. I think I would like it even more if it told me the percentage I have read instead of how many hours as that tends to fluctuate depending how much I read at any particular time. A wish list would be nice. The desktop has it, but I can't update it anymore. I would like to have a list of books that I'm interested in buying.
Cannot import files from my downloads folder, or at least it's not easily transparent to do so. Should be a simple touch-n-go transport of files, not have to scan your device for them, which just hangs in limbo. Most of end-users want more control of their device files, syncing into the cloud for convenience is second only to accessibility of your files when you are OFFLINE. Perhaps more work is needed for file type compatibility. Why bother creating dodgy software when there are numerous other options available like Google Books. Don't waste people's time please.
Not the best at keeping up with other devices Doesn't sync with your kobo account to maintain page number
Changed my life!!! I've had this book for years. Looking back, I now see that the first time I read it, I wasn't truly read to receive the message. At this point of my life, it was on right time. If you read it and it doesn't really sink in, don't be discouraged, God’s timing is everything. The first time planted the seed, the second time allowed that seed to flourish and grow abundantly!
Recently I've been having the age-old "Kobo can’t start right now because of a problem connecting to the Kobo server. Please try again in a little while.". I just fixed it by looking at the app's permissions, and seeing that they were all disabled - I re-enabled the permissions, and it's happy again. However, this error has been on Kobo forums for at least 5 years, and it's mad that it's still happening - especially as Kobo say that the app doesn't actually need to access their servers in order to run. So here's a message to Kobo's not-very-clever app developers: (1) Search your source code for that error, and see what conditions cause it. (2) Reproduce the problem, e.g. by disabling the app's permissions. (3) Change your code so the app still starts, and still lets people read their downloaded books, even with no network access or permissions or whatever! - or display the real failure reason. (4) Think of another way (without failing to start!) to let the user know that they might need to fix something, if they want to download more books or access online content. I am amazed that you've let this problem persist for so long, in a popular app, on so many platforms!
New update is awful! The app was finally working well before this last update. Now it won't even load the entire library before it stops working. This is getting really annoying. If there is an update, make it useful not time consuming and pointless. The app has had the ability to change page color, highlight, and look up words for some time and quite honestly the change to the home screen is unnecessary and just makes getting where you want to be take longer.
App keeps stopping and shutting down - Find a platform that will work for you long term!!!! Used Kobo for years. Now when I select "view all" the app stops working. When I finish and close ebook the app again stops. Tried reinstalling and signing in/out. Called customer service to be told IT would call back. Never called. Called again. Told that it was because I had to many books!! I have a large collection but only 10 currently downloaded! Very unhappy to be told app no longer works because I spent to much money and to be told there was nothing that could be done to fix it is disgraceful!!
Great All of it is wonderful you have the online library and the personal one. Reading the books on it is amazingly simple and you can import downloaded books from ;) other sources. My only complaint is I would like to have a paper white option if that's possible
Good on phone..tricky on ipad Like the app for reading on phone and ipad. For some reason i have to go all around to shop on the ipad it is always easier for me to buy from my android phone then the ipad kind of annoying but i can deal with it.
BEST Reader and Achievements BEST reader (I've tried many) I find the achievements fun. Layout is neat and bright. Runs very smoothly on my Galaxy Tab P1000 and S3 phone. Tried Kindle and Google books. Preffer Kobo the best. Can customise library layout and has more functionality e.g. zoom, display, quotes, dictionary, search. You can even add epub format books from your SD card! Pity their Windows and iPad apps don't work.
5$ credit my butt I've been using this app for awhile now. I got a 5$ credit for signing up. I see a book for 1.99 so I figured I could use the credit to but it...noooo I have to buy something that costs more than 5$ to use the credit...that's dumb.
Kobo App The android app works better than the lame system that comes with a Kobo ereader. You can tap to enlarge an embedded image,
Not bad I like this version better than the last. It has more ways to locate what I am looking for easily as I like to reread good books. However, I would still like the option to customize by genre for example.
App is useless if you are not connected to the internet, making reading in many places impossible! In Kobo's efforts to sell users even more books, internet connectivity seems to be a requirement just to read books. My purchases are often inaccessible while travelling on the subway or other everyday places where internet access is not available. This makes the app -- USELESS without a connection. Since I just want to be able to read, I will make no new purchases on Kobo and instead use Kindle/Amazon, since I have access to my purchases with our without an internet connection. Perhaps Kobo needs to focus more on ensuring that users can read what they've purchased instead of sacrificing access to books just to try and sell us more and more. Pretty poor strategy if you ask me.
Amazing book Keep it up the good work. It's quite a long time since I read one page but when I open it it shows the last page I read. Wondering can still use it by lap top, ipad coz my phone drain so fast by battery. Wondering if the ebook I bought will last forever or longer unless I delete. I'am very to my works and schools so not having so much time to read. ?
A Girl's Best Friend (mine anyways) It picks up where i've left off in a book, i dont need to remember my page #. Great books to chose from, updates me on just about anything, like seriously...Kobo is like the hot new babe who messages you every chance they get to make sure you know whats new. Just need the "read to me" bit and its a 5.
It's not so bad. What I would like, have the possibility to copy and paste some notes and quotes from a book to a notepad
Forcing a person to go through facebook is shady business practice by any standards. Enjoy lowering yours if you get this Developer response: Hi Zep. We have options to sign-up and log-in other than with Facebook. You can choose a simple email log-in option right below the Facebook one if you prefer it. I hope this helps. After Response :Not when Your app forces a log in through facebook even though this email had never been linked to facebook. My old account had bought several books and I'm not aloud to access it even when attempted to log in threw "facebook". As a follow up even after logging into facistBook Kobo wont allow me to get the books I've paid for... Nor will it let me un-link a facebook account that was never linked to begin with. Worst Program I have used to date.
Text to speech? Works great. No problems. Never lost my place and i was swapping between tablet and phone. Only thing missing is text to speech so I can continue the story while driving or doing other things.
Only allows to buy one book at a time! I got £3 credit which I couldn't use as the books I wanted were all below this and I couldn't buy more than one at a time. So time consuming having to order multiple times, many better apps out there
Font size issues For those of you with eyesight issues (myself included), I recommend buying one of kobo's excellent ereaders which have TypeGenius which allows you to select from 10 fonts, make as large as needed plus much blacker than other brands' ereaders! I have their H20 and the text is so clear, reading is a pleasure now.(No I don't work for Kobo!).
I love Kobo I love this app and when I had a problem I could easily chat with someone who was able to quickly fix my issue
Love It It's easy to use. The GalaxyS syncs up with the Samsung Tablet with no fuss or hic up. Sadly though it doesn't work on the iPhone and I would have loved that!
Fantasticaa.... It's a beautiful app, I love to read book on this, Its so smooth. The only drawback i found was the dictionary is not so efficient. I think the kobo should have worked on that. However, I hope this would be done much better in the following updates.
Kobo android app is crashing on the newest android 7.0 system. It opens but when I select a book from my library the kobo stops running yes, after the update it works on android 7.0 now. Thanks
I have updated the app to address Android 7 issues Still crashes when ever you try and read anything.
doesn't work on android n i love kobo but right now i cannot read any of my books
New Version Works Under Android 7.0 Seamless connection between reading list and Kobo store. Very easy to use.
Crashes under Android 7, even with update.
Usefull I initially agreed with D Summers. App wouldn't let me sign on Samsung Note II. Per tech support at Kobo I uninstalled and reinstalled. App works fine. I don't use it to read as much as to review what I've recently read on Kobo eReader. It is very usefull for that -> ADDENDA: Reduce stars to 2.75. Android app does not read notes made on K reader and vice versa. App apparently has lost the placemarks for all 8 pages of annotations in recent book. Now all annotations take me only to cover of book!
Some issues Love the app as I can read on either the reader or cell. One down side is some series are missing books and have contacted both author and kobo help (no one got back to me with an answer, then to contact the other party, and she has another book out no sign of it in store) and had to buy the off another site and transfer.
Really good app I really like this app. It makes switching between devices to read so much easier. There were some syncing issues to begin with, like some of the books I had read in my library showed as if I hadn't read them; and the annotations you make on one device don't seem to come through on another which is a shame. Despite this I really like the fact that recommendations are easier to view on the app than via the reader (I have the original kobo mini). It's also easier to buy books using the app.
Brilliant I have used the Kobo app for many years now and it's fantastic for an avid reader like myself. I can read on my e-reader, blackberry , tablet or laptop and it automatically syncs to where I left off. So easy to buy and books and straight into my library. Was laid up for nearly a year after a back operation and would have been lost without Kobo, keep up the great work!!!
Awesome As much as I love having a book in my hands I love being able to take a bunch of them with me to read whenever I find I have the time. The app is awesome, jus wish there wasn't so many ads. They pop up and then sometimes it changes things that I have to reset. Other than that the only thing I would wish for is more free books!
please do understand that this app is the best in the market even best than the kindle . i absolutely loved the phrase share feature and its dictionary but there is a reason I am giving this app one star. 1. I am trying for the past 2 hours to import my epub files but i m not getting them 2.My purchases with flipkart e book reader(now owned by KOBO R) arent getting restored. 3. the file importing is stuck as in for an hour now. 4. due to this app i had to power off my phone more than 20 times now. 5. but seriously the app is a five star. 6. solve my issues and I ll change my review.
The app would be greatly improved with just a few well-thought options. One of the advantages of ebooks is layout customization, which the Kobo app largely lacks. Better options for linespacing, fonts, background colors, and page transitions would make the reading experience more enjoyable. The homepage of the app feels lacking, showing only two purchased books, and a couple dozen reccomemdations. I have about six different e-reading apps, and by far, Kobo has the least room for customization.
It is good but needs improvement I was using flipkart ebooks & after migrating to Kobo, after some initial hiccups, I am as comfortable with the app as flipkart ebooks. However, they do not have SBI internet banking payment facility and it would be so much better for Indian customers if they could include that in their payment options. Further, it would be so much better if the kobo app, like flipkart ebook app, could support the reading of the ebooks and thus could very conveniently make audio books out of ebooks at no extra cost.
As an author I love it I am an author of Emotional Rollecoaster a poem in the top 100 of 2015 and 70 additional poem's that you will find inspiration and pain love and loss. The best thing about the app is very easy to use and find the best books you can enjoy within seconds of downloading them. I couldn't see the problem with this one *except for the no PayPal choice for purchase. The only thing wrong with it. I hope you enjoy it and I will maybe have my book in the library choice some time. It is up to you but suggest you do.
Few Changes... WTH??? I have been using kobo a long time. I have bought a lot of books on kobo.... I don't remember all my library. For a while there kobo did it for me... I really liked that. I trade in hard covers and paper backs so I only keep the books I loved in physical form. This prevents me from making double purchases. Kobo used to prevent me from making double purchases... Now it doesn't. I have bought a book twice and have books in my kobo library coming up as suggestions. Contemplating moving to Samsung books
caveat ! This review is specific to Android "N" (beta). Normally Kobo is a good app however after installing android N (Beta) on my phone it will not longer open any books. The app itself does run. Just can't open any books. Kobo was the only app that broke. Will update this review after Android N goes public. Mean time I am using Cool reader which actually a little more customisable.
Still need to make improvisation I still think the app can be improved more the user experience is not optimal. Brightness control feature is not within the app. No seperate section where you can see all notes. Also sepia version is not that great because it should feel softer to eyes. We need to have some real features to make user experience optimal. But overall i still like the app.
It's OK, could be better It's lacking a lot of customizable options that will make reading more comfortable (like adjustable line height). I read a lot - a LOT - and have used many different ebook readers over the years. This app is not even in my top 10.
Hard time reading Please add more backgrounds: Night mode is good, but for daytime reading, Original is too contrast and Sepia is not much better than the Original. Add more fonts: to make the reading more comfortable. Please add an option to adjust , or just make the fonts bolder, because they seem thin, and to compensate, I make the font bigger, but this makes the pages to have very few lines. Otherwise, u have the best store. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO MY REVIEW.
Highly recommend Love this app... Would be better it it also read PDF but that's the only negative. Does the job and lovely features like page turning, doesn't kill the battery on low light and easy to make a quick buy... Only negative are the recent constant crashes when opening all items, if that stops it'll be back to perfect. Happy reading :)
Kobo convenience I am on the go all of the time and most places am unable to carry books as well as my tablet. Having the mobile app on my phone makes it so easy to get a page or two in while I wait for appointments. I am very heavy into reading and prefer to read then to watch tv. This allows me to get a fix throughout the day. Only wish the books were more reasonable as are the Kindle or Amazon ebooks.
Getting better but not there yet Your preoreders are still hard to find. The store never has the books or preorders I want and the number of listed preorders is nonexistent. I literally have to wait for my author to post a link to the preorder to get it. The library functions are better and cataloguing makes finding books much easier. The store functions and categories still need some help. There's still some kinks to work out to at least be comparable to Amazon and B&N.
Great I had used many kindles and kindle app, and I have been using kobo for quite some time. Kobo app is just wonderful. You can even import your own books - a property that kindle app does not have. The only downsides are that the fonts and line spacing options are limited. Overall, great app.
Didn't get my $5 credit after it said it would be automatically deducted from total price at checkout. I know it advertises this for sign up offer, but still tricked me into making a purchase since I was already a member. Feel free to refund my $5. All good otherwise. Thanks in advance.
Great app I like Kobo books and this app works well. A couple of issues though around synchronisation between devices - my tablet doesn't seem to know that I've read a chapter on my phone. So when I go back to reading on my tablet I have to manually skip forward to continue reading. Could be something I haven't set right though.
App was close at picking up where i left off, although it would only show half of the page that the kobo had so it makes sense. It doesnt know if im at the top of the page or bottom. I love this app, i can read my books anywhere! Just gotta make sure to sync the kobo.
Nice app, comprehensive booklist This is a clean, straightforward bookreading app backed by an impressive ebook store - but doesn't bother you with intrusive advertising. Occasional problems when in areas of intermittent www access (may try to update book list instead of opening the book you were reading, and then make half-downloaded books inaccessible until you've gone through a few hoops). Otherwise just great.
Bloated, arrogant and invasive The Kobo app is huge and takes ages to start. It wants full access to your device. It sends near daily alerts for new book suggestions and app updates. If you're a big book reader then you might enjoy this, but for the two books i have, this app is overly invasive.
Could handle pictures better Works fairly well for books with only text. The main thing I had a problem with was how it split up diagrams by basically breaking them into tiles that are split up across pages, making them nonsensical. There should be an option to see the whole picture/diagram via pop up window or pinch/zoom.
Works on my tablets but not on my phone This app doesn't work on my Samsung core prime phone. I only get the first page of each chapter. Most of my books don't ever show up regardless of multiple syncs. It works well on my tablets. The pleasant reading environment, spot on recommendations and easy imports from other sources would make Kobo my only reader if it would work on my phone.
Kobo It's ok. But not happy as it does not sync with my other kobo's and my phone I am now fed up with kobo as it keeps coming up with kobo not working. Really fed up now. Not going to get anymore books. Not going to update kobo anymore.give me my books that I ordered.seals of summer 3i opened it to look through there were no books.give me them for free or my money back
HELP!! Really annoyed Im getting frustrated because i like to read a lot and kobo wont let me buy any books. Everytime i go to purchase it says shopping cart is empty. I have tried reinstalling the app 3 times. i have tried it on my tablet and phone. Both doing the same thing.. i just want ro read more then a preview.
Crashing on Nexus 6P At first it crashed on Android 7, which I thought 'OK, maybe it hasn't been optimized'. But then I downgraded to 6 again and the app still crashed, which makes me think that this is an app issue and not an OS issue. Hope you get this fixed soon.
Laggy It's fine but the book store is really laggy, it's like nothing but lag. Please fix it.
Great app for book lovers and reader !!
Awesome app Awesome app from kobo, didnt know thst reading a book from my samsung tab A would look this good. My screen is not non glare so i can not read in sunlight. Im just waiting for the Aura One to become available on-line again. My small Sony is ok but bigger is better but from what I've seen on there site the Aura One with its comfort lighting to go from a normal hue to a redish hue is awesome, which makes it less stressful on the eyes. Can't wait but i have no choice. Hurry up Kobo
Dear Rakuten: still has a few issues ... i want my offline E-BOOK Data on my ext SD card folks. This is lollipop, so please edit that XML for the apk and give me a popup dialog to make my choice. Marshmallow? Nougat? But still a good competitor for the big players in the eBook market.
Great, except for constant crashes! This app works smoothly and is aesthetically pleasing. It has a good selection of books and font size is adjustable. It is very easy to navigate between chapters. However, literally every other time I open the app, it freezes trying to open a book, and I am forced to uninstall and resinstall. It is frustrating to no end!! PLEASE fix this!!
Almost brilliant I have a kobo ereader and use the app when I don't have it with me. Functionally very nice, and great for books bought through Kobo, which I'd happily do if the prices compared more favourably to kindle and google. Shame they usually don't, as by buying epubs from google you lose the syncing features you get with native kobo books.
