Japan Trains is the first application for Android in Romaji that allows us to find train routes and schedules in Japan, in the vein of: Hyperdia, Jorudan...

If you cannot find desired station, you can use % character as wildcard. For example: AZA%BAN will display AZABU-JUBAN station. SHIN%KOBE will display SHIN-KOBE...

Important: Hyperdia has changed stations names, so it is necessary to upgrade. No support will be given unless you upgrade the application to the latest version.

Best app for JP trains Used it on my trip to Tokyo last year, super efficient in finding the cheapest/fastest route with the least changes to my destination, can't recommend it enough! (get the suica/related cards to make travelling even easier as you won't be restricted to just the JR loop)

Marshmallow Saucers

Absolutely a great application. A must have! Gives you the route and the price. Only thing that could be improved IMO is the fact that it doesn't usually give the best route, but you still get there so it is good enough.

Nicole Fletcher

Brilliant App I used this almost daily for 4 weeks around Japan, worked fantastically! Would happily use again if I go back!

Michael Shada

Love it I love this app. But the map only shows Japan at the center of the world. It's so far out it doesn't list cities. I can also find no way to send a route to my calendar. Once these problems are fixed I can easely give this app 5 stars.

Doug Irvine

Used for a recent trip to Japan I downloaded this app as I had bought a JR 7 day pass. The app made traveling around Japan very easy indeed and I recommend that anybody wanting to use the trains there download it too. Fully deserving of the five stars.

A Google User

Absolutely essential in Japan I thought that going to the hyperdia website would be enough, but this app is just so easy to use. I love the send to calendar feature, which was broken in the previous version, but quickly fixed by the developer. Some suggestions: -I just wish you could add your monthly subsidy into the equation for more accurate accounting. -First and last train for the day, just like the Hyperdia app

John Tanner

Don't travel Japan without this app Extremely useful app. Gives information re connections, arrival and departure platforms etc. Made traveling a breeze!

A Google User

The best for gaijins Ive ben using this app for about 2 years, but now I have to use an iphone. For my frustration, no iphone version! So, do you have plans to release it for iphones? the other apps are bllsht!

Patryk Branicki

Must have for JR Pass holders +++ english, options for JR Pass, offline history, sometimes platforms info, fare info, GAVE ME GOOD INFO for 3 weeks, best app for trains use Google maps for rest: buses, metro, trams, walking... --- not much help with stations name input, doesn't show total time of trip only time spent in train, not visually clear (small letters, not best colours choice) when showing to JR clerk to book tickets

Diana Leung

Great but found discrepancy I'll be going to Japan so I downloaded this app. I tested this app to see if it matches the schedules shown by Hyperdia. All the train schedules in my itinerary are correct with this app except one: I'll be going from Hachinohe to Ueno on May 24 at around 15:00. Hyperdia gives me Shinkansen at 15:06 which goes to Ueno by Hayabusa. However, this app does not show this train. Don't know why. Could the developer try to find out and correct anything wrong.

Michael Fong

Great and quick to check Excellent app to use...checking every rail JR and private. Accurate and fast. Only problem is the every time have to enter names of stations in departure and arrival boxes. Does not save the previously entered info after going back. No saved route or search histories. With those would be an easy 5 star.

gilang shanahan

It works perfect Used this app on my trip last January, it worked perfectly. I loved the fact that instead of giving on result at a time, it also gives several options for me to choose. 5 stars!

Alex Hamling

List of time stops/station order would be nice Vertical display needs tweaking to fit in all characters.

Jayjay Joven

This app was very helpful on our 2 week trip from Osaka to Tokyo & Kamakura. Our travel to every destination was easy & fast most especially when we planned ahead by taking express trains (no stop from pt. A to B) saved us a lot of time. Can't wait to use this app next week when we explore Kanagawa & Fukuoka. #Happyuser

Ellyn Mae Ong

Lifesaver! This app is one of the most useful apps ever. I'd pay for it if it wasn't free! This made our Japan holiday easier because we had all the info we needed for getting around, especially getting the most out of our JR pass. For those complaining about not having access offline, plan your day ahead and just screeshot the route!

Marjon Milloria

Very nice application It's very good application in finding which train line to board. My only suggestion is to provide how many station it is stopping or what station it is stopping.

Yeow Heng Lim

Can't get around without it This app is God sent. Not only it tells you the quickest way from one station to another anywhere in Japan, it also tells you which way brings you there earliest, and suggests the alternate routes. Also provides fare information and platform number where available. I was dependent on this app during my stay in Japan. The only glitch I faced was a misreported departure time. Looks like Hyperdia database is to blame though.

Karim Morgan

Simply outstanding I seriously don't know how I would have managed during my visit to Japan without this app.

Bryan Ogden

Good app but times off I've been using the app for a couple years and it seems like the times are off anywhere from 2 minutes to 10 minutes sometimes. This really only happens when I go to Tokyo though. It's not so bad in my small town up north.

Mike Hall

Has gotten worse unable to find tamaplaza which is a major station in tokyo. Or the majority of odakyu line stations. Poor updates. Edit: this is database name issue not apo. app is still awesome!

Martin Norman

Essential for travel in Japan I got this app for a month long trip around Japan. It never let me down and it even works with the super confusing Tokyo metro. Brilliant.

A Google User

Meh Good app, but thimes are fucked. What it says takes 50 minutes often takes 80 - 90.

Matthew S.

Good but do not rely on the track numbers. Overall useful during my trip all over Japan using the JR pass but DO NOT RELY ON THE TRACK NUMBERS PROVIDED. It was wrong frequently so double check which track your desired train leaves from before getting on. This is more of an issue with Hyperdia than with the app itself but should still be noted by people using the app.

Ashley Chua

Cool handy app when traveling around Japan Best app for subway info when you have internet. I just wish there is an offline version that can cache data.

Montian Thananart

Very good information. Should have spelling aid and memorize the frequently-used stations or routes.

Liew Kit Kong

Need a bit more infomations I like the app but the information to change the train platforms or remain sitting when on rapid changing to local are not available. Need little bit more improvements for precise info.

Morgan Lee

Powerful app Awesome app! Train information are accurate and it even calculates walking time when transiting between train lines. This app had been a total life saver during my stay in Japan. The only thing I disliked was that the search history doesn't really work for me and it does not show my searched stations when I press back so I have to retype the station name all over again. I also needed sometime to get used to seeing the 'lane' since the font is so small.

A Google User

Premium version? Great app for figuring out the cheapest/fastest train travel around Japan. I'd be happy to pay for an offline premium version but there doesn't seem to be one. So ideally please remove the useless premium check delay and start up screen which just wastes time when starting. Thanks!

Mervyn Yap

A must for travelling around Japan Used this everyday when I was in Tokyo. As the train system in Tokyo is extremely complex, this app made travelling around effortless. Well done to developer!

Cameron Taylor

Excellent tool I'd Definately reckon this to anyone visiting japan, its a lifesaver!!

A Google User

Always works. Great program in a little package. Been using it since I moved to Tokyo a couple years ago. Never let's me down. Developer responds super quick!

Tim Su

Excellent and invaluable 3 days into my holiday in Japan and this app had been incredibly useful. It has saved me so much time wandering around wondering where to go. With little effort I'm navigating through Tokyo like a local. The exporting to calendar is really useful for journeys with multiple transfers.

Marshall Partridge

Generally helpful I prefer this to other train apps, but it doesn't always give the most helpful times and isn't always correct if the schedule changes. For example, there is a steam engine on display at Niigata station for the next few weekends and the schedule still says my train leaves from the track the stream engine sits on. Also, a history of searched stations would be nice.

Stu McC

Good but no offline operation available Good but no offline operation available. When travelling online is too expensive to use.

Patrick Winnem

How to buy premium? Would love to pitch in for more development :)

Napath Lebkrute

Thanx for create this kind of great app It is SUPER USEFUL!!

Terry Nelson

Great app Just spent 16 days in Japan using a JR Pass, and this app was amazing, made getting around much less stressful.

Dodi Ibnu Rusydi

Useless Installed this app and it gave no result to my multiple searches. Removing the app straight after this comment.

Janaka Kumara

This doesn't cover all stations I tried to check train route from Kitakashiwa to Komuro but this says it cannot find Komuro station. I don't recommend this.

Mel A

Essential app for Japan! Used this app extensively during my recent trip to Japan. It was a godsend for daily travel on trains local trains. long distance trains (Shinkansen) and subways. The saved search feature is fantastic and can be referenced later without data. Great alternative to Hyperdia's app which is not available to Android users outside of Japan and US.

Viki Swan

На 80% Not correctly shows information.

Пользователь Google

It works. Correct. What else?

Пользователь Google

Please add LINE NAME Perfect APP. Correct worked. But sometimes need info about LINE NAME. Please add.

Dimitar Manolov

best app in my jap trip I spent 11 days in JP and this app saved me a lot of cost and time. Local people are helpful however it is far more quickly to rely on this app as it gives exact times of arrival/dept and track nrs. I highly recommend if you have a JR pass to use it.

Paul Oc

Nice app Would be 5 stars but I keep getting error 400 codes when I'm searching on galaxy s3. Makes it unusable.

Alessandro Lo-Presti

Requires Internet! Good but requires Internet connection. Big down side for me.

A Google User

Works well, strange button/UI Finally, yes. It all works fine even on tablets. The context menu is hidden behind the search/magnifying glass tab. The Dev calls it the "active tab" or "white tab". Counterintuitive this is. Suggestion: including "Next train" and "Prior train" buttons would be helpful.

Anas Dek

Thanks for the accurate train Really helpful apps. I think i will loss if i dont have this apps. 2 weeks in Japan, round over 6 town with this apps.. Thanks thanks and thanks...

Ryan Rubley

Great app, with a much better interface than Hyperdia, and the ability to pull up your recent searched offline without having to re-search (something Hyperdia can't do). I wonder if the train information is up to date though? The app has not been updated in 3 years now, and maybe trains have changed schedules since then? So far, it's been very accurate, but I worry now... Could use a small fix to remove the in the "for <station>" lines under the train line name. That line is cut off by 1-2 pixels also, and sometimes it's missing completely, but the same text shows up on Hyperdia's website, so it's probably in the database.

Rew Howe

The app works really well. Very straight forward and helps plan your route fairly well. However, it requires an internet connection in order to work which essentially makes it useless when I need it most. If I have an internet connection, I can just look up the route on Google Maps. This app needs offline support in order to actually be useful.

Kevin Meyer

Helped a lot Used it for a week on my last holiday. Saved me a lot of time and effort. Just be careful of the time it takes to changes lines as this app can leave you with a 2min change over to the other side of a station

Francis So

The user interface is quite dated but the functionality is solid. I noticed that when I was in Japan, most people seem to use Google Maps for train transit.

urban rumination

Super useful for trip planning. Made my holiday in Japan so much easier. Thanks!

Chris Gordon

Pretty much perfect Once you figure out that pressing the current tab (magnify glass, map) acts as the option button, you can do alot. The map will find your current location and long pressing a station name lets you set it as departure or arrival station. The ? search can let you set a chosen route to your calendar.

Yu Ii

Dumb, in incomplete & incompetent Asks for hyphenation and then goess mute. Tokyo Olympics is around the corner and there is no train route finder for crying out loud. Pathetic still after updates....

Zac C

Japan traveller best friend Bern absolutely vital to my travel around Japan, has all the major rail lines and even a lot of the smaller private ones as well. Have not found a station it didn't have yet. Just wish you could get more information on some lines, like how many stops the train has before yours, and/or a list of the stations so you know what the ones before it are

A Google User

A must have It is accurate and works. Gets me where I need to go and syncs with my calander. A must have for those in Japan. ##edit. it no longer synches with my calendar now that I have a newer phone. :(

Dustin DeLor

Works great It finds the routes I'm looking for and presents them in a clean and readable way. There is no charge for searching shinkansen that JR pass holders are restricted to. Sunrise Trains also come up in the results when I filter for them, which is something the other app had problems with. It's a great app.

dd jj

Galaxy Note 5 Good, but I'm getting "Unfortunately, system UI stopped" with this (possibly because incompatible with All-In-One Toolbox).

Nostalgia Forest

nice app really but some peopel useing windows phone ... plz bring your app on windows phone app store there is no eng train app thank you...

Niels Viveen

Use it all the time but needs updates Needs updates for the two new shinkansen lines to Kanazawa and Hakodate. For the rest, it is awesome. What it can't do, is include all trains you can use with a Japan Rail Pass, but that is because Hyperdia (the engine used) has been screwing that up since 2010.

Simple and accurate train app! We wouldn't survive Japan without this amazing app. We used the trains(shinkansen, local trains, subways etc.) alot during our trip(tokyo, kyoto, osaka, otsu) and this app really helped us so much to bring us in our destination. Two thumbs up!

adam haru

SUGOI ! It's lite & easy 2 use I used this app from day 1 to 10, and it gave me accurate schedule. I don't know what would happened if I didn't install this app. Thanks developer :D

Simon Says

Excellent Used it during my 2 weeks in Japan in 2015. Saved me time and money. The only thing I would ask to add is an option to show all the stops during the given route.

Glenn Spencer

Works great Helped a lot on our trip. Only issue was some of the vital information is lost if it breaks over two lines as the second line only shows the top half of the words. Would be 5 stars except for that

Panisa Pitigaisorn

Best app for Japan trains. Highly recommend! I download this app as a substitute for Hyperdia but I end up liking this one even more. It is very accurate n easy to use. It also tells you the lane number which is a huge plus. I'd recommond this app for anyone using trains in Japan.

Adam K

Live This App!!! This app has made my life in Japan so much easier! I tell everyone about it and hope that in the future it will be able to show train delays.
