Apk file size: 10.0 MB

Interval Clock guides you through interval training with a countdown timer that alerts you when you have to go faster or slower. This is ideal for use on a stationary bike, treadmill, or other piece of exercise equipment that allows you to look at your phone (although you can use the app for just its audio alerts without machinery if you prefer).

The app originally worked for a 20 minute workout with short intervals, as this was found to be an ideal way to train (See this Lifehacker post for details: Now the app supports interval lengths and timers of your choosing. It will also remember the last interval you chose so you don't have to change it frequently.

If you have any issues or want to report bugs, please let me know and I'll do my best to fix them.

Whats new

    Version 1.2 adds/fixes a bunch of stuff:
    - Customizable interval training! You now have the option to set the length of the timer and the length of each interval (both fast and slow)
    - New interface and graphics, including a dog that walks/runs to your slow/fast intervals
    - Compatibility with newer Android devices and newer versions of the Android OS
    - Timer now checks itself against the system clock to avoid lag errors
    - Device/display sleep is no longer prevented when the timer isn't running

A timer that doesn't accurately keep track of time! This interval timer fails at keeping track of time accurately. After every interval it goes off by a little where eventually your intervals will be all off. I use the default 12/8 intervals which you would think add up to 20 seconds but on this app the total interval gradually shifts such that it isn't ending on a 20 second interval any longer. Went back to A HIIT Interval Timer.

Brad Harmon

Fixed Fixed the app for kit Kat. Back to be being the best internal app in the store

Raul Rivera

I work out I ride a sationary bike and needed an interval timer, this worked out well for me.

luis moreno

Love it I just wish it was louder.

A. L.B.

Cute Nice design, tone could be louder.

Chris Jansen

Has promise! Needs more features Nothing crazy! Add a status bar icon that's just a colored square so I don't have to stay in the app. And if you can add color notification light support, even better, then I don't need to have the screen on killing my battery.

Eduardo Feliciano

Has Potential First, it could use a face lift. Second, you could add background images or animations. Such as, a image of a person walking for the slow down, and a racing bicyclist for the fast pace. You can maybe have these images move also slowly, or quickly across the screen as well. Or you can add a heart pulse animation, one going slow, the other moving fast. Also it would be kind of cool if you can tie this to some heart monitor to see your actual heart pulse. Seek a app developer if you can,t make it happen.

Useful This app has the best alarm sounds that I've found for an interval app. It would be nice for a portrait option, especially when trying to manage podcasts. My biggest issue is that, without a persistent notification, the app frequently closes if I switch to a podcast app, even for a moment. Adding a notification would make this app much more useful.

Idea: awesome. Execution: needs help. The functionality is simple, and all it needs to be. The execution needs help from a user-friendliness standpoint: As has been said repeatedly, the colors don't work, particularly for colorblind users. Use more complimentary colors (Maybe just the blue and the yellow for slow and fast). The buttons are small when they don't need to be. When the only functionality is start/stop/reset, I should be able to hit any of those with my eyes closed. Again, as previously mentioned, find a less "cute" font. Keep it simple. There's no notice that the app runs in the background, and no way to access it without keeping a shortcut on the home screen. There should be an icon int he notifications area when the app is running that lets me get to it quickly while I'm using another app. (Less necessary): doesn't rotate to accomodate portrait view on my Droid RAZR. These fixes would make this a great little app.

Nice start, simple is good, but not too simple. - The clean interface is very nice. Colors are good too. I suggest blue for cooldown, instead of yellow. - The font is terrible, in my opinion. Maybe offer other font options? - The sounds are great, but I miss some kind of beeps 2 or 3 seconds before the beginning of the next cycle, just to get the user prepared. For now I'm using "A HIIT Interval", but I'll switch to this one if at least the beeps are implemented, because this app sounds and looks much better.

Johnathan Predaina

This app is too fat. For an app that's a simple app and designed for losing weight its ironic that it's 10x larger then it needs to be. 9mb for a countdown timer that changes background colors?

T Kalus

Needs a couple tweaks For the colorblind crowd (E.G. me), the colors are a bit too close. Unless I'm looking at the phone when the colors change, I can't tell which mode I'm supposed to be in. Blue/Green might be a better choice; a color picker even better. 9MB? That seems like a bit much for the functionality it provides. Permissions for Full Network Access? For a countdown timer? .... why? I didn't see any ads...

Ivan Arroyo

First time and it worked for me You can also combine it with other workouts and it'll get you fit in no time. It was nice to use the old bike in the garage

William LaRock

Helped already This app has helped me already, I half expected a reward screen at the end. I would definitely recommend.

Chad Ackley

Doesn't get much easier Simple does exactly what it is supposed to do. One problem i have on my note 2 is that it only shows in landscape. It would be nice to me at least if when you excited the app it left an icon in the pull down menu to make it easy to get back to.

Woodson Hansell

Does what is says it does. Not all apps do. Keep it simple. Warm up and cool down options would be nice and do like the man suggests about colors. Woody

Indy Gill

Good, could be better Nice, simple, clean app. Would be better if of had the option to change the interval times. Needs to stay open in the background when using other apps, ie music player.

Rob Spence

No longer works with 4.4 KitKat Loved this app, and I would be giving it 5 stars, but it no longer works with Android 4.4 (KitKat), or at least not on the Nexus 5 :( Please fix this if at all possible. Thank you.

Tai Graham

Does not work on kitkat Like the simplicity. Was a good tool but it no longer works on my new nexus 5.

Joe Bernard

S5 no dice On t mobile, on my s5, this app crashes when trying to open every time. Bummer.

Renzo Fernandini

Great start Needs option to work while your phone is locked and other, louder sounds.

Anton Grobman

Does not work anymore on kitkat It was a fantastic app but it no longer works

Nigel Thomas

Great app but... Still doesn't work on my Nexus 5 :(

Charlie Weller

Not bad at all! Works nicely on my Note 1 although I have yet to try a full 20 min workout. File size is huge for the app, but this is an early version. Colours are pretty.

Sean Vincent

Suggestions I use this a lot. The simplicity of the display is what I love. However it only runs in landscape mode and my phone is normally in portrait mode when I put it on a bar end in an arm band case. I would also love a heart rate read out now that my s3 has Bluetooth 4.0

Anders Harrison

Does what it sets out to do. Had to read the description to decide which color means pedal fast. Notification to keep it running in background would be useful, as would custom options.

Kristopher Clark

Thank you, you're awesome The people nitpicking this are are lame. App is great and simple, I just used it today and got asked at the gym about it. I appreciate you giving it for free. Where can I donate?

Ian Ruthven

Issue On my LG Optimum 2X, app immediately closes right when the colour changes. Would be sweet if this could be fixed. I'd love to try this out. Keep up the good work!

James Taylor

Adam Please Fix! Crashes on opening on Nexus 7 2013, 4.4. I miss using this app so much.

Erlend TheUser Hall

Great, but not compatible Does not appear to be working on KitKat 4.4.2, still it did exactly what it was supposed to do when it worked.

Xerxes Setna

Does what it says on the tin I use this when on my wife's cross trainer. Keeps me focused, breaks the monotony and provides a pretty good workout.

Philip Keymer

Really useful This app made me dust off the old stationary bike. :-) a feature I would suggest is an instruction section to clarify the meaning of the different colours for the first time user. That and reducing the app size.

Aman Daro

Great start It was working fine on my s3 but now the audio notifications force all sound through the speaker, not the headphones, making it impossible to use at the gym. Please fix!

Jaime Harris

No sounds Sounds do not work, and I did not see a volume adjustment. Yes, I tried adjusting the system volume.

Niall O'Callaghan

Useful but could use some tweaks Good, but a few points: It is quite a large app for its purpose in terms of memory. And it should have a portrait mode instead of defaulting to landscape.

Tongpui Branden Ho

Thanks! Does just what I need. No more no less.

Derrick Lee

Crashes on Nexus 5 Can't open on Nexus 5. It crashes right away when opened

Matthew Buntyn

Nice app, great workout The only suggestions I would make are: Add a warm-up period at the beginning, and make the alarm louder.

Morten Friis

App closes after the initial 12 seconds I don't know if this is due to my current ROM, but the app closes immediately after switching color after the 12 seconds. When I restart the app, I't back to the initial start screen at 20:00.

TP Honey

Does what it says Can't fault it, let's see if the science behind it holds up

Kos Tas

this is exactly what I need. almost perfect. but app constantly permanently freezes and the only way to make it work is to reinstall

Bevin Schmer

Wish it were louder!

Brandon Nielsen

Nothing special Can't customize sounds, no warm up or cool down intervals. Animation is unnecessary. UI doesn't adhere to style guidelines. However, it does work for basic intervals, and doesn't require unnecessary permissions.

Curtis Shields

Excellent concept, works well, would love to see further development Pros It works, it's simple to use, and it gets the job done. Cons Large app size Limited functionality

Jeremy Huntsinger

Crashes I look forward to changing my review but right now the app is crashing.

Nick Serluco

Crashes right away Crashes every time I open in on HTC One M8

Yura Ben-Sheer

No love for Nexus 5.. Worked well on my old desire though..
