The Firehawks Organization originally started as the North Lawndale Titans in 2003. The team was founded by Lamain Rucker and Joshua Jackson. The Coaching Staff consisted of Milton Sivels Jr., Larry Brown and Nathan Dyer.
There were many changes that occurred during that first year. First, the team moved to University Park, Illinois and became the University Park Titans. Sometime later, Lamain Rucker moved to Nebraska and asked Coach Sivels to take over the ownership of the team. Coach Sivels gladly did this and he and Coach Brown became Co-Owners of the team.
It wasn't long before player Adam Long suggested changing the teams name yet again. So, going into year two, the team became the Firehawks. Shortly after the name change, Rev. Glenn Sterrett signed on to become the first General Manager of the team. After another local team" The Chicago Lawmen" folded, many of their players joined the Firehawks. They were instrumental in helping solidify a strong core of veteran players. Today Richton Park, Illinois is the home of the Firehawks but home games are played at Benedictine University located in Lisle, IL.
Throughout the years, many people have come to help Milton Sivels Jr. and Larry Brown's Firehawks grow into a wonderful organization. The 2011 staff includes: Nathan Dyer, Defensive Line Coach; David Neal, Game Day Manager; Obi Allmon, Asst. Offensive Coordinator; William Wells, Defensive Coordinator/ Offensive Line Coach and Coach Rimes QB/WR and DB Coach and Asst. Defensive Coordinator.
Throughout some tough years, the Firehawks are still a strong, loyal, and family oriented organization that sincerely cares for each other. They continue to strive to be the best team in the GMFL and most importantly, to have fun.
