Learn to SPEAK the ICAO phonetic alphabet. More than just a list that talks. It also listens! You’re learning to talk into a radio or recording device so learn by doing the talking yourself! The ICAO phonetic alphabet is used internationally to spell out names or list letters and acronyms verbally in a clear and standard way. Make sure you are heard and understood. Make other people spell your name correctly! Speak like a pilot!
Speak the ICAO alphabet letter names to match the randomly selected letters. Your accuracy and consistency is scored higher and higher as you add letters to learn the entire alphabet. Test mode to see how many in a row you can get!
********** Instructions **********
Tap the A – B – C button to randomly select 1, 2, or 3 letters at a time from the selected portion of the alphabet .
Learn at your own pace. Move the slider to practice a selection from 5 letters to all 26.
1 - Tap Go ahead to start the Android voice recognition. Say the ICAO words for the random letters. Loud and clear now! Do not whisper or be shy. Did you get them right? “Rodger” or “Say Again”? If there is background noise, bring your device up close just like a microphone.
2 - Need help? Tap the words in the alphabet list to hear them spoken by your device.
3 - Hide the alphabet list to get a score, and check your memory and pronunciation of the words. The more letters at once you say (1 – 3) and more of the alphabet you select ( 1 – 26) the higher your score.
4 - Click Test to continually random one letter at a time and automatically start the VR – No buttons to tap just speak each letter as it comes up. How many in a row can you get? Score twenty six points each, no cheating!

Love it but one little bug.. Google voice can often return ALFA for the letter "A" at which point the program gets stuck on retrying. It turns out according to Wikipedia, "ALFA" is the correct spelling for the NATO alphabet. Not "alpha". They are homonyms however. Also, a small feature request.. If English is your native language there should be no reason not to use the built in speech recognition and so can be used offline.
Exactly what I was looking for! Sweet app for learning the phonetic alphabet! Impressed. Thanks
