This is a powerful application for helping you track your birds from anywhere and any time using your Android device. This is not a field guide for identification but rather a way to track your birding and share your experiences with other Happy Birding Journal users. Start the application and choose the checklist you want to use and download. We are adding more checklists all the time and if there is one you would like to see, please let us know.
Type in a name of a bird and your GPS can pinpoint your location or you can type in any location name you want to use such as a local address or anything that helps you remember where the sighting was.
You can change checklists for different locations. Say you live in a certain state and you travel to another for business or vacation. You can change the checklist to that state and sort your information to record that period of time separately. Then when you get back home, save your checklist, then simply change back to your regular checklist.
From your daily or casual list called 'My Birds List' or your 'Life List', you can sort your information for any time period you choose. Simply select the dates and create your own custom time period.
You can share your birding information with other Happy Birding Journal users around the world to help them pinpoint great places for finding interesting or unique birds and you can see what birds other users are finding with the "Share..." feature. Use the "Life List" feature to keep a running list of all the birds that you have seen over your lifetime.
The best new feature of all is that you can save and backup your bird data to your home computer. You can use this data to restore your information to your Happy Birding Journal app if you should lose your Android device or get a new one. You can also use this information on your computer in a spreadsheet file. OpenOffice.org and LibreOffice have good free spreadsheet readers.

Great App I tried the the free version but sometimes found the GPS gets stuck on.... But still the app is really great. The more I use it the more I love it. I am excited to try the paid version and use the social features.
Does not work. Transferred this app to new phone and it no longer works. I see the last time it was updated was 2013 February. That explains a lot. This was a really good app for birding. I liked it very much. Now it is time to Uninstall. No use for a white page with a bird on it that does nothing.
Did not work
I'd give it a zero I tried it again with high hopes of being able to use it. Nothing functions and all it does is force closes. I can not add a bird, I can not do anything within the app. It opens but after that it won't let you tap on anything or add. Nothing. Force closes constant. Very disappointed.
