Uninstalled right away Should not download the full article but only the headers at first. Don't know the other problems because uninstalled immediately.

Di Allen

No FAQ or help Main complaint is that I cannot search messages ..fulll message/replies are there too, rather than headers . so too much space is used up. Took agess to find Settings, this is an icon of a few strips at bottom of tablet, with other Android icons eg "home" tab and screenshot tab, not within prog.itself.

RETARDED! Only downloads full articles, not just headers. Downloads OLDEST articles first. Takes FOREVER to get to current articles. Optimus V

Great for simple reading Usable offline mode ideal if only using wifi. Very good for a free product and if your use is for chatting not binaries in a small number of groups. Also helps cut down crosspost conflagrations.

Can't Get Into It I find the UI tb visually ugly and am unable to find any means to collapse threads.....And downloading all bodies all the time is a nuisance.

A Google User

Works well, but sometimes a bit clunky - option to view collapsed thread list would be useful.

Good, useable nntp reader - but could do better This is a neat nntp reader. I use it occasionally and it does the job right. There are a few minor things that I miss: a dark scheme, ability to roll threads and download only headers. But overally it's already very nice, fast and stable - keep up!

A Google User

Not what a news reader should be. Downloads entire bodies instead of headers, fails in spring threads. Have a look at the late David Wong's work on SourceForge for ideas on making this right.

A Google User

Everything's great except there is no option to sort groups from A-Z. Please add this in next release.

A Google User

Good overall, but force closes while trying to add a newsgroup via SSL connection.

A Google User

Has so many nice features but the huge flaw is that it always fetches all message bodies. Would be much better if only fetched headers at first.

A Google User

Doesn't work with Astraweb! Nope, could not get ssl working. Tried using just a general connection with all 4 port settings individually. This program doesn't work!

A Google User

Useless No yenc which is all binary images or mpg files. I give it a minus 5

A Google User

Bad Displays only half of all the posts, no way to sort, old and new mixed together. Unusable. Unupdated. Bad.

A Google User

Useless Refuses to connect to my news server despite correct settings

A Google User

Works... Mostly SSL support nonfunctional. Base64 decode failures cause a whole group to be unusable (rather than skipping that article)

A Google User

3G support Any chance this will work over cellular links, or only WiFi? If I could access the NG w/o a wireless network, it would be perfect for me, and get another star! :)

A Google User

A resonable newsreader If this were the only device on which I read newsgroups, this would be fine, but it isn't and because I've already read some messages on another system, I'd like to see the posted date in the message header line of the message list. I'd also like to be able to view the message list unthreaded and be able to sort it on subject or posted date or author.

A Google User

No way to sort posts or threads making Groundhog impractical for large newsgroups. The color coding is confusing for NGs with dozens of posters.

A Google User

Not bad for a free newsreader There are some which are paid for apps which don't do anything more than this. I've been using a Windows based client called Forte Agent for about 20 years now (or however long it's been out). It's probably a bit much to expect similar functionality from an Android app but I'd like to see at least multiple user posting (ie, use different usernames for different NGs) and something that should be mandatory - cross posting filtering.

A Google User

Crashes Crafts every time I try to search for a group. Using giganews.

Lee Donovan

Simply doesn't work. Connects to news server but can't find newsgroups

A Google User

Makes it easy to keep up with the Monastery while on the road.

A Google User

Good. Pity that the app's been abandoned :(

A Google User

No sorting capability Works okay until you realize you can't sort it, not even by date. Please fix. However, other than that, it is a good client.

A Google User

Ia like it. But we dont have a way tosort the threads.

Alan Shilling

Poor Can't see any point in this app - seems to have no way of managing articles.

A Google User

Crashes on reply I can post a new thread, but the app crashes if I reply to a post. Crashes on help as well.

A Google User

Doesn't connect to any astraweb server, needs to give a more specific error instead of just blaming the user

A Google User

Does not connect Don't bother wi

A Google User

Works well. Nice array of features.

A Google User

Buggy version, does not tefresh messages in subscrined groups. Not very good on HTC WILDFIRE!

A Google User

This is the cat's pajamas.

A Google User

Not perfect, but overall the best Android usenet reader available. The author is very responsive to feedback and comments.

Ian Blakeley

For free its good Not as polished as I would hope for but allows me to keep up when away.

A Google User

Force close when searching for a group...

Eric Voskanian

Crashes Useless, crashes every time I search for groups.

A Google User

Too many missing features for serious newsgroup use.

A Google User

Does not connect to server

A Google User

Cannot sort group lists. Cannot DL binaries. Add these features and you just might have something!

Пользователь Google

If usenet users always shall use one encoding in group, this app is best. If encodings are greater than one - this nntp client work stupidly. Sad.

Пользователь Google

Great app! But on my opinion, needs some interface changes.

A Bloke

Usenet veterans will find their way around this app ok. Binary leechers may as well use a desktop. Needs more powerful filtering though. No damned advertising which is worth an extra star.

There are a few minor things that I miss though: a dark scheme, support for more than one nntp server and downloading only headers. But overally it's already very nice, fast and stable - keep up!

John Lang Wilson

Excellent I have been reading Usenet on PC for many years. Groundhog was easy to set up and is a nice user interface. Very good indeed.

A Google User

No updates for nearly two years? Dead.

Galen Carpenter

Needs a fix for GS7 Menu does not work on GS7/Marshmallow. No way to get to it. Worked fine on GS4/Kitkat. Automatic notification does not always work. Cannot mark article as unread.

David Griffith

Brittle and stiff Crashes when opening comp.sys.raspberry-pi. No way to reorder groups.
