Download GNURoot WheezyX (xterms) apk 0.0.2 free for Android smartphone
Apk file size: 98.0 MB
Like GNURoot Wheezy but supports xterms, and launches a vncserver at launch.
You can connect to this simple graphical desktop via your favorite vncviewer on your android device or another device on your network (like a PC). The default password is "password".
There seems to be an issue with most android vnc viewers. If you zoom too far out, your device may no longer respond to touches. I need to figure this out, but for now, don't zoom out bigger than the desktop. Stay zoomed in. Don't beat me up about this, but do be warned and please do file bugs and feature requests.
Allows you to create and launch a Debian Wheezy rootfs without rooting your device when used along with GNURoot (champion.gnuroot).
Primarily, I install packages with apt-get (http://linux.die.net/man/8/apt-get) and I suggest you do the same). To use apt-get you will need to click the "Launch as Fake Root" checkbox. A good place to start is to do:
Then start working. If you find out that something you need is not installed, just apt-get it. To install less, do this:
apt-get install less
That is pretty obvious, but sometimes it is not. You can use a search engine (like google to help you out). For example, I found out to install R, I should do this:
apt-get install r-base
You can also search for packages using
apt-cache search some_keyword
A very popular package to add right away is this one:
apt-get install build-essential
This gets you setup to run the make and compile steps of many SW projects.

Simple, though installs on internal memory Hi, I like this one too like your Octave distribution. The VNC connection is also simple, however the problem lots of android devices have very little phone storage and large sd cards (as in my case). So I would like to know, while launching Rootfs, can it not be copied to sdcard instead? cheers
We need real root, not fake one Can't launch xterm (setuid error), can't launch any other term prog (/dev/pts permission errors) and can not sudo (sudo uid needs to be root=0). All because of silly "proot" workaround. Some of us do have rooted phones u know?!
Amazing App. This app, together with the apps GNUroot and VNC Viewer, allows you to install a complete and fully usable Wheezy Debian Linux system on your Android phone, including X, which provides a graphical user interface with the window manager of your choice.
How do I connect via VNC viewer? Can you please give me some instructions? These would be handy for others like me who are not experts. Thanks!
Please help I wanted to ask what will be the port no. and usernmae and password for vnc veiver
Does not work on Sony Xperia M2 I installed gnuroot and and Debian wheezy, okey, it does not open any terminal windows. So I installed a terminal emulator. It still does not open a terminal when I install rootfs. Anything I am doing wrong? I do tick "launch as fakeroot" because I do not have a rooted device.
Okay got vnc working but... /usr/bin/xterm: unable to reset uid. Meaning, I am unable to launch terminal making it pretty impossible to use this app. Any ideas? Edit: my kernel is the problem (works on other kernels fine) sadly I'm I have to remain with incompatible kernel.
Nice! Seems to be about the best solution for s5 a900a 4.4.4 rite now. Thanks!
Great but... I really loved it a GNU/linux enviroment on android with a working apt-get!!!Just one thing can you add something so when you close the window it automatically kills the X server thanks
Love it Very ...
I'm getting an error Asus transformer 700 Hi, I'm not all that familiar with the distro this is based off but have some Linux experience. I installed libre office and cherry tree (supposedly), I can't find any directories for cherry tree so something may have gone wrong. When I try to launch libre I get a failed to open display error. Using lowriter gives the error ./lowriter gives some directory error so I'm assuming it's not the same Colman in used to. In the libre office directory the components are listed as s* (swriter, scalc, etc)
Just wondering Hi! Is there any guides on how to install it and if this would run on a 86x?
