This application is a demo of gesture recognition software that
distinguishes between two classes of hand gestures, such as a circle
and figure eight. The application uses a TI Chronos EZ430 watch to
send motion data to the Android device. For instructions on how to set
up this watch with an Android device, see the setup instructions on
this page:

When using the application, first select the train mode, select a type
of gesture, and press 'start train'. Make a motion with your hand and
press stop once you are finished. Repeat this process a few times for
each gesture type. Then select the query mode and make one of the
previous gestures again. If your gesture is precise enough, the
application should classify it correctly and print the correct answer.
On very precise gestures the application is accurate over 80% of the
time! Also don't feel confined to simple circles and figure eights
just because that is what the buttons read. The system can in fact
differentiate between many other gesture types, such as squares,
lines, triangles, stars, pentagons, different letters, and even 3D
gestures. If the application does not seem to give you the correct
result at first, try making slower or faster motions because the
software tends to fail on both very slow and very fast movements.
