Doorways Launcher

Doorways is a launcher for Android devices. It works on all versions of Android.

Doorways is ultra small, ultra lightweight, and ultra basic. Why use up valuable phone memory on your launcher app? Doorways simply presents you with your app list. That's it. No frills, just you and your apps.

If you are ready for a sweet new launcher, then go ahead and open the door to quality with Doorways!

So I really do not know where I am headed with this project. If anybody has any suggestions of things I can add, just drop a comment and let me know. I can either keep it as a simple launcher, or add a bunch of features, I'm down for whatever. I guess it just depends on what the people want!

Whats new

    Removed unneeded internet permission
    Fixed "hidden apps" glitch
Replaced the door icon with standard 3 dots icon
Can now set a color tint to the launcher background
    Dock icons are now centered
Launcher now saves scroll position when making customizations

Great app needs a little polish Worms great except the hide apps feature. While it gets rid of the text,it doesn't change the link. I resolved this by changing the name of the app I wanted to hid to "zzz" and then hiding it while it was at the bottom of the list. I'd also like text icons in the drawer instead of icons.

**** Apps do not launch properly when other apps are hidden. This bug has been with Doorways since version 1, please try to fix it.. Also, Why does it need network permissions? I have it firewalled anyway, but its the principle :/

Needs more work Doorways seems to be what I just need when I was looking for a simple text based launcher. I have revert to am earlier launcher because doorways was just lacking in a lot of areas 1. This launcher NEEDS a home screen. The default app listing should be the app drawer. And on the home screen, instead of icons it's should be a row column matrix of apps with on the app name. Themer launcher did something similar by having PHONE, TEXT, APPS, EMAIL as text only icons. 2. App drawer should text based. Rows....

no bullsh*t! just the right launcher when you have to stick with your old 512ram device, but need to use high consuming apps, this is the way to do it. abandon all that shiny glittering 3D animated ram consuming good for nothing launcher, and use this perfect simple launcher. it does anything you need from a launcher, show your apps, that's it

Wow! Best launcher on the market, bar none

Absolutely Great Doorways Launcher is so fast and incredibly lightweight, I think that's the way it should stay. I have this launcher installed on my LG G3, it runs perfectly! (Appearance could be tweaked a little, the spacing between each application is unnecessarily big. Change this and I'll give a 5 star rating!)

Clifton Turnbull

Good Very simple and lightweight launcher I have been looking for something extremely lightweight for awhile now keep up the good work

It's about time! Wow! It's like fluxbox for Android! :D All jokes aside, it's everything that a launcher should be... ...hardly anything to get in your way. It reduces information overload and keeps meaningless meandering down to a bare minimum. No, it's not "feature rich", but if more interfaces were like this, maybe people would be less freaked out by smartphones.

Great Launcher I like it better how its updated. Now I can filter and change wall paper. Now I can just uninstall directly from the launcher without messing with the settings. Recommend it to everyone!

Question Why does my phone say doorways is using 90+ megs of ram?

Aleksandar Urosevic

Great! It would be nice if there were icons next to the name of an app.

Michael Roper

EXCELLENT! Doorways is my new primary launcher!

Brian Adams

Awesome Really all it needs is a few options(already mentioned) and some eye candy.

Fujin Kai

Great! Very smooth and basic. Does what I need my home screen to do. All it needs is a search bar and it'll be even faster to reach the app I'm looking for. Good job! Thank you.

Nice Finaly a good, light launcher. Keep it simple :)

Cool but Takes too long to load and its not full screen

Andi Domi

Nice concept but not intuitive Just make the labels in a grid mode and it would become a great app!

Anton Derbenev

Totally unfancy, yet slow to start Suggestion to author: 1) make its coldstart less than 1 second. For me, it starts longer than most apps on the phone, except some really heavy ones. Cache app list & update it in background. 2) Add customizable groups of apps and quicksearch to avoid scrolling up and down searching for an app. 3) Add optional display of icons.

Aaron Lytle

Love it If your looking for something simple and gets the job done this launcher does that.

Andrew Kim

Great start, but buggy Love the simplicity of this - easily could be a daily driver instead of Nova. Some issues: After apps are hidden, the wrong app launches when tapping to start an app. It would be nice to be able to change the door icon to something else (three dots?), as well as change the font used for the list of apps.

Binks Mike

Well, it does list everything As long as you don't search and don't use the dock and don't hide thigs, it works. Hiding things causes incorrect apps to launch on selection, as does filtering. Adding one icon will frequently add a second icon, which will be tied to the fate of the first.

james joseph

Could be 5 stars Why the Network permissions?? Also, the incorrect app launches when other apps are hidden. This bug has been with Doorways since version 1, please try to fix it.. Also, Why does it need network permissions? I have it firewalled anyway, but its the principle :/

Just what I was looking for, but... When I type into the filter starting with a capital letter it nullifies the results. It has been so difficult for me to find a simple launcher with a search function that does not only take into account the first letter of the apps. Great work so far, would definitely update to fifth star for fixing pattern matching.

Andrew Kim

Love the simplicity of this - easily could be a daily driver instead of Nova. UPDATE: Dev reached out [quickly] and updated the launcher to address the 3-dots request and fix the hidden apps issue. Now I'd love for there to be a way to keep this in memory so it does take forever to load after getting dumped from memory. Also, and I realize this is a bit counter to the original intent, but it'd be great to have one page for widgets.

Nicholas Liddington

Simply just what I was looking for, keep up the good work!

Martti L

Simply put - all you need. Good launcher 5/5! I love the option to hide all icons.

james joseph

5 stars ***** 5 Star app! Thanks Dev for the great work. Don't hesitate to t throw in any other features that may cross your mind :)

Clairejoey Roldan

Nice one I really love this launcher, so simple

william Z

Don't change this

Doorways Launcher The greatest launcher hands down

Ryan Karolak

Simple and Lightweight, if a Bit Buggy It's lightweight, which is nice for the cheap Samsung I'm using it on. It has a few buga however, like selecting (tap and hold) an app after filtering selects the app in that location before you filtered/searched instead of the one you thought you selected. Some customization of the dock icon size and text size would alai be nice. Still, its simplicity is appreciated. Keep up the good work and the bug squashing.

Curt Jackson

Nice launcher Would be great to have font options

Michael Roper

Still developing? I fell in love with this launcher a while back but tried emailing the developer and haven't had a response.

John G

This one Rocks! The app does everything I've been wanting in a launcher. It's fast and responsive. The developer has done a great job!
