The Android interpretation on Conway's Game of Life!
This is not anything like the board game, so please don't download if that's what you're expecting! This is a cellular automaton created in 1970 by mathematician John Horton Conway.
The game takes place on a grid, with each "cell" in that grid either active or not. Users are allowed to choose a variety of already configured designs of active cells, or users can draw using the touch screen a custom-made design.
Once the user hits "Play", the app determines how that design changes on each generation cycle. The rules that determine how the design changes are as follows:
For cells that are active:
If the cell has 1 or 0 neighboring active cells, the cell dies (becomes inactive) due to "loneliness".
If the cell has 2 or 3 neighboring active cells, the cell lives on due to a "stable economy".
If the cell has 4 or more neighboring active cells, the cell dies due to "overpopulation".
For cells that are inactive:
The cells will become active if it has 3 neighboring active cells.
Further updates to this app will include fully customizable rules, so that users can create their own cellular automaton. Users will also be able to save their work, submit work to me so I can put them in updates, and change the grid size!
