Doesn't work on Verizon note 4 Ok so I started this review over because no room to add. The dev. Says don't spam. Why is every bad review spam? Get used to it if it doesn't work. Viper4android is a sound app look it up. And yes I followed your instructions to the letter. The app installed and the terminal installed. The path copied but no busybox. If you know of away to install root apps using your busybox, make a tutorial if not stop saying it works and calling everyone else spammers.

Adrian Webster

Pls stop people who are giving bad reviews. This app is the actual busybox binaries but they are not installed to the system. If you want actually system wide binaries get root

Ricky Gray

Doesn't really work for me I put it in the terminal and nothing happened, at least I guess it worked for some people and u tried so 5 stars

Daniel Webb

Needs documentation of differences between stock BusyBox Great app, but you need to document which of the BusyBox apps are included, since not all of them are. It would be fine to do that either in the app description or on your website. Your website is trying so hard to be cool and minimalist that it doesn't give any actual information. Edit: my mistake then, I thought I saw comments that it didn't have all the apps. How do I set the PATH permanently so that I can use it in Tasker?

jaden pleasants

I have no clue if this worked The command line returned nothing. I don't really know if that's good or bad.

Mehmood Ahmad Khan

Good App for non root users At last I am using lucky patcher without Root. Its not a genuine but works same. Thanks

Pomba M

Awesome I have root, I am reviewing this just to support the dev! 5 star to make up for all those bad rating from users who don't/can't read/follow instructions.

achintya vatsraj

Used less app I opens and hit download busybox and download never completes

George Bateman

Command-line still better than GUI Says it all really. It's free software, and it's good.

Khairaldyn Ladiasan

Good but cannot install busybox This hack is good but there is one problem when I install busybox it cannot be installed it says please install busybox and try again but its still a usefull hack

Olli Repo

Useful commands in non-root Android Thank you so much! Now the non-root Android terminal actually has something useful and it makes sense to use it.

Kamlesh Kusumbia

Easy to install... But could you tell me how to uninstall it....

Paddy Landau

Decent implementation. Supplies many commands that Android should have had by default. Inclusion of Bash is a nice touch. Easy to install if you follow the instructions. +1 for catering to unrooted phones.

Chirag Jasiwal

It says busy box is installed but when i open lucky patcher it says busy box not found

gareth morgan

Fantastic app! Couldn't make it better if I tried!

Jason Thomas

Works like it says. Works great able to use bash with out any problems. Just follow the instructions and export the path at startup.

luke Wasson

Won't tell what to do after I do the first 2 steps

Xander Harbour

Good effort. people stop hating u have not a clue how much it makes himself mad so stop. man don't listen to them

Stavros Neophytou

Ok Ok im using it now if i like ill boost the stars

Gumball Gaming

I Love your apps there my fave

Ruhan van der berg

Thanks a million! Thank you for building this app, at every reboot the path to busybox is lost, fixed by adding initial command the busybox path, in terminal emulator at every reboot. Thank you!

Ubas Joan

Its working but im just wondering how many windows will i paste the code? I don't know what to do . I just want to root my phone. Help me please :) sorry for wrong grammar :)

mykel kyewski

? I'll help with the spammers ?

Abbas Mohsin

did this busybox include tcpdump ? i try to search for it with available commands, can not find it nexus5 lollipop 5.0.1. from description provided extra binaries like tcpdump .. anyway thanks alot

Lanister Suffian

?.. This app for what and how to use

Erik Calissendorff

SSH and all the other goodies without rooting! No need to root the phone at the moment as this gives me the console I need anyway.

Android User

Thumbs up for sensible permissions! Unfortunately I was not able to make ssh work. Nvidia shield tablet with android 5.0.1. I have set the path as intructed and also tried using busybox-ba ssh, but just go "applet not found". I highly appreciate the author for the application not requiring all possible privacy invading rights. That is why 3 stars even though couldn't make application work. Edit 7th Feb: tried also plain " busybox" - command not found. Checked /data/data/burrows.apps.busybox/app_busybox directory contents. No SSH there.

Buc Lao

Thank You! This works great. For those of you who are having issues, type in busybox-ba before a command.

David Dahl

Great. Worked great on Lollipop. I'm using JuiceSSH with snippets to set the PATH. THANK YOU!

Victor Nolochemical

Worked Well Only thing to add is where everything is being installed.

Aan Wahyu

Cannot Install package How i can install package? When i type apt-get then terminal show apt command not found

M Gifford

Great Linux app, love it! Thank you for fixing the permissions issue. Wow! Busybox no root is powerful. Thanks. Five stars plus!

Purushottam Raj

Get 'busybox not found' in terminal emulator Yes, i used "env" command it's running. But other commands (for example- commands for Spoofing mac address) are not running. It says /system/bin/sh :busybox :not found

Josef Fortier

Lollipop Compatible! Now works with Lollipop (thanks!). I've used rsync for a long time to back up media from my phone. 5.0 makes it hard to install (and hard to root stock) so this approach is much appreciated!

adamnjan

Works pretty well ... considering it is running on a tablet. Minor quibble: nslookup does not seem to work. ping works normally (resolves host names as expected) but nslookup does not.

James Timmerman

Works [Update: Better] V3.49 (re)Install now completes. After setting the export commands in [Terminal Emulator -> Initial Command] per instructions, I can open Terminal Emulator and invoke via "busybox-ba {command} ". Directly invoking busybox command links still doesn't seem to work, but I'm a noober. Very satisfied to have workable nonroot busybox! Kitkat 4.4.2, LG Flex G D959

Micro AleX

Lollipop support problem has solved, if anyone got any issues after update to Lollipop from older Android, just reinstall this app, will solve your issues.

Ruslan Boev

Warning! Bash: void endpwent()(3) is not implemented on Android. UPD: I did everything what you said but the warning still appears. Sigh. Anyway bash works well. BUT. Did you hear that bash has BIG vulnerability named ShellShock? So you'd better update it as soon as possible. UPD: Yes of course I have checked. It is vulnerable.

Anton Kozlov

It's works!

Mikhail Basov

It operate without root. nmap, rsync, rcp accesible in Tasker scripts with it application. Thank you.

Pri Vate

Didn't work for me.

Daniel Rode

Thumbs up This app is very nice and convenient. I wish it had more busybox commands though. Specifically the "sendmail" command, or "mutt".

Martin James Davidson

BusyBox 20150623-Tu.: up'd; 20141204-Th. Re-installed. As J.L.Picard said, "Make it so!"

peter tool

Great that it works without root, but there are long-standing issues with included ssh 1. Home directory is set to /data/local, which doesn't exist, and can't be overridden by setting $HOME environment variable. This makes it impossible for the included ssh to remember its host keys (security issue), or to configure it. / 2. scp doesn't work, because it looks for ssh in wrong place (/system/bin/ssh, rather than in burrows.app.busybox). $PATH is disregarded for this... (and before telling me to update, could you please test that ssh host keys and scp do work in the new version, and don't merely fail with slightly different messages. 2 stars due to failures in the past on this very issue)

Jason Radosevich

This is the only version of Busybox that I could find that has HCITOOLS and HCIDUMP (for bluetooth stuff that I want to do). I cannot get this to work, dont know if it is because my phone is rooted. I keep getting error CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE: could not load library "libbluetoothd.so" needed by "hcitool"; caused by library "libbluetoothd.so" not found I did follow the directions by opening the Terminal Emulator, going to Preferences then to Initial Command and pasting in export PATH=$PATH:/data/data/burrows.apps.busybox/app_busybox; export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/data/data/burrows.apps.busybox/app_busybox but I keep getting the error.

Ted Moyer

WORKS GREAT 1ST TIME It just doesn't have fsck! Would really like this function. Note 4 VZW

Joseph o'Loughlin

Appreciated To test, before and after install, in your terminals shell, try the unix command cal

Ankur gupta

Little bit confused! I have done things as you have explained installed BusyBox and Android Terminal software as required factor for using busybox.... But when i am trying to open busybox in play store to configure busybox the process is taking place but as soon as it reaches 100% getting same error msg constantly something went wrong... Please help what can be a reason behind this?

OPG lightning fast

It stops It constantly freezes my phone fix it

Vinny Pergola

Pointless Busybox is POINTLESS without root.

Steven Poland

Good Worked for me and easy to use

Surya Cheek

Works Installed the app, and entered the export commands in my Terminal Emulator. The path to busybox was then found. To add the path every time, the export lines need to be added to the startup command (or alter PATH settings of emulator).

Guy Spillman

LG Nexus 5X errors Get the following error on every command: $ nc CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE: cannot locate symbol "stderr" referenced by "/system/lib/libcutils.so"... page record for 0xf72a300c was not found (block_size=64)

Peter Lewis

Fantastic (Almost) all the benefits of Busybox with none of the rooting. For all those unsure, it simply downloads (and can keep updated) the Busybox commands into the app directory which you then just add to your path. Was having issues adding to Terminal Emulator's path using the app-suggested commands but the following slightly amended command resolved all issues: export PATH=/data/data/burrows.apps.busybox/app_busybox:$PATH

Kit Man

Installs what it says, with a little push. Working, now. Solution below. A nice simple workaround to get the busybox commands without having root. If this is foreign to you or you run into difficulties; read on my frustrated friend. The final installation step for proper functionality is an environment variable string (LD_LIBRARY_PATH) novelley supplied by the author via your devices clipboard at the end of the installation. You will need a terminal emulator (easy download also included by the author) to input the command that was copied to your clipboard. Just add $PATH to it.

Martin Suchý

Fantastic app This app gives back the control to our hands with the luxury of keeping the phone not rooted. It requires only basic understanding how Linux works to install & use, and rewards us with all its features. There are some bumps on the road expecially with binaries that always require elevated permissions but the rest of the functions work nice! Thank you.

Rajnish kumar

Unable to know about installation After clicking on Install, a dialog box pops but no progress is shown while download : (

Erik Meike

Does not support 64 bit devices such as nexus 6p This app installs .so files for 32 bit processors, so it does not work on many new devices.

Andrei Paraschiv

This is an awesome app but, When I try to create a symbolic link it says operation not permitted why is that(I am a bit new to commands) did I do something wrong or do I need to be rooted.

Matthew Icemaine

Wanted to like it I wanted to like it but it seems to be currently incompatible with armv8

will mcdaniels

thank you! school is much easier when I don't have to stop everything and locate a root. I tried to pay for ad free version. ?

Scott Jones

Not working on nexus 6 running 6.0 Followed the instructions in app and a simple ls gives me: [email protected]:/ $ ls CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE: cannot locate symbol "stderr" referenced by "ls"... page record for 0xb6f1b00c was not found (block_size=64)

Xiao Mayi

Perfect for Lollipop, but broken in Marshmallow An update: It appears that Marshmallow has broken Busybox. I need to do some analysis on the go sometimes, but don't fancy rooting my phone. This solution is perfect. I can now get some basic analysis done while I get to office.

Viktor Binzberger

Doesn't work on Intel CPU WARNING: linker: could not load library "libsigchain.so" from LD_PRELOAD for "ls"; caused by could not load library "libc.so" needed by "libsigchain.so"; caused by "libc.so" has unexpected e_machine: 40

Seth Moore

Works great! Little quirks here and there like ssh trying to create /data/.ssh but it works fine! Also you can fix the home directory by putting a " ; cd " after the initial command.

peter tool

Tochukwu Nnyigide

I love this! Where can I find cool commands to run?

AvZ NaV

Works awesome I had a few issues but changing the export command to have $PATH the end instead of beginning fixed it (as suggested by Pete Lewis in the reviews). You should put that in the app description. Really would have liked commands like dpkg

Prama Adhapranata

Great Lose the configuration after i close terminal then i try to place the commands at menu>preferences>initial command it works great without losing configuration again
