Uninstalled as GPS won't switch off Great app, a little outdated, but won't use (uninstalled) as I always have to kill the GPS as the app won't switch it off thus draining battery

James Dodsworth

Great app Love nothing more than using this to record my findings and knowing it is creating a database for the whole country. 1 issue for me would make this app perfect, when searching through others recent finds it would be of real interest if you could select the gps pin and read the log that people have recorded i.e it's breeding status and other comments made while observing the bird.

Robert Morrison

Please add the ability to search for a certain species in the target lists rather than just scroll through the list

Steven Heywood

Locations Location-based data lacking, to say the least. And the app just will not have it that I'm not in Suffolk, no matter what.

Justin Mullins

Doesn't work This app would get more stars if the grid ref would work but it doesn't.

Belinda Scullion

Easy to use.

Ric TheSeagull

Simple but not easy..... Simple enouth but does leave one a bit stunned trying to make sence out of some of the other non-listings options in the menu. Simple it maybe but by no means easy if I want to log older sightings. Sorry but I had no choice but to uninstall this and use a different app (again). There are some apps out there that are better and far easier but It would it be nice if BTO did an easier lifelist log & to create logs without using the map which can be awkward. Then one can then optionally submit a completed list.

Time recording issue Love the app and it's my preferred method of recording my birding but there's a couple of irritating issues. It lets me add a start time but force closes if I add an end time. The start times I do add are not uploaded with the sightings. Even though I use an existing site when I start a new list, when I upload it adds another instance of the site to my online account and I have to go online and merge sites on a regular basis.

Mark Hobson

GPS issues Why can't this app pin-point exactly where you are? I've got to use another to copy n paste grid ref to make a casual sighting.. everything else seems to work well.

Maisie Mcgill

I like this app its just that its annoying that you have to set up an account! How do you do this? Good anyway

Lists and casual bird records straight to Birdtrack A very good field tool. As well as data capture (including optional breeding status and comments) it also gives you a view of what species are being seen in your local area.

James Bamkin

Works But in desperate need of an update, just looks so dated.

matthew brotherton

Got new android tablet everything works apart from my location so can't submit my sightings please fix

Steve Routledge

Birdtrack Excellent And Usefull App.

David Gains

don pepper

Ray Hooper

UPDATE on Problem with Grab Species resulting in forced close NOW RESOLVED The problem with grab species was resolved quickly by the developer and the update deployed within 24 hours of the report. Excellent service and glad the app is back up and working again. Just need to add the outstanding records now! Thanks Guys This is a good app but a major problem seems to have crept in recently which the developers need to fix. On Android 4.3 for HTC One. I click add Casual Record, followed by Grab species and this is now resulting in a message of 'Unfortunately, BirdTrack has stopped'. Seems to need a bit of a de-bug to fix, and I don't seem to be the only person who has reported this recently. Uninstalled and reinstalled app but problem still resulting in same error message. Please fix the bug and get the app working again now Spring is here!

Great for quickly recording & providing data to bto. Great wee app. Some errors with mapping. Would be better if it allowed you to track across Europe & not just UK & Ireland.

Corrine Green

Good - but issues with Kit Kat? Good on my old Galaxy S2 but whenever I try to add a casual record from my Nexus 5 it stops working. Needs a bug fix!

David Harris

Can't get it working, unable to download species list I bought a new phone yesterday and downloaded bird track, soon after I saw some sparrows in my garden. I tried to download them but couldn't.

Peter Taylor

Slick and easy to use I found the details a little overwhelming at first but screens were still easy to view

James Ward

Excellent little app. Would like to set the GPS in preferences rather than every time I open app, but otherwise great + big time saver.

Tony Jeffree

No landscape mode A pain to use this on pads where the natural way to view is in landscape rather than portrait orientation. I'm amazed that developers still do apps that are not pad friendly.

Kevin Hewitt

Stunning App This is everything that the discerning birder would want I the field.

Mark Lambe

Superb Excellent little app that does exactly what it is meant to do. Easy to use and clear intuitive interface. Note to self; must start using lists!

Christian Dadswell

Fast and easy way to record bird sightings Love this app and use it daily. Just wish it would get a UI refresh and some usability tweaks. Other than that it's great!

Chris Evans

GPS Location doesn't work on Samsung Galaxy S III Love the ability to supply my own species lists, but GPS location doesn't copy to

Rob Marshall

Sorted It works now. Should have this type of app for documenting and recording all species.

Emma Driver

Emma Driver! Love it! If your interested in birds, then download it! You can track everything you see, not only is it interesting to see what you see your helping with conservation for birdwatch Ireland!

anna Brilliant app. Easy and convenient to use. Great to be able to check out what birds other local birdtrackers have seen in my area aswell.

Fiona Hutchings

Birdtrack Fantastic app! So easy to use and quick to link up with account online.

Amazing time saver for my birding Tested this today and worked fantastically - brilliant to get back to car and know I don't need to type anything into the website when I get home. BirdTrack just gets better and better

A Google User

Revolutionised my birding Being able to record field lists then sync them with BirdTrack online, without even going near a desktop computer, has revolutionised my birding! No more scraps of paper or lost notebooks! Welcome to twenty-first century bird recording.

Great but Local Hotspots bug Excellent app for casual records & synching to BTO account, only issue I am having is repeated force closes with the Local Hotspots feature. App thinks I am in Norfolk when I am in Derbyshire, GPS working fine for other apps. HTC Desire HD.

Simply great One of the best apps for birders with the bonus of reporting sightings back to bto. What would make it simply the dogs danglers is pics and calls of birds. Although that may bloat it a little although sd storage is an advantage. Just a thought got those less confident with ID? Members or users could add their own pics to the app would also be a good idea. Any other thoughts I'll add later after more use!

Graham Jenner

The app for Android is good-it's a shame that approximate number of birds seen cannot be added-i.e.' lapwing c50 ' which has surely got to be beneficial. The download of your sites is excellent as well as the simple input method e.g alphabetical etc. The upload to the server is excellent-after verifying your birds you can upload them directly from your smartphone and the memory space used is deleted from your smartphone. It's the first bit of software that has kept me recording all my birds and I've tried all the others. Its satisfying to think that your list is contributing to useful data as well as keeping your personal data secure and searchable........remember when you've kicked the bucket, who wants to see your notebooks! It takes all your historic records as well as all your foreign bird trips. You can record all your dragonflies on the PC but not on your smartphone at present. Please giver it a go-I'm sure you'll like it! Graham J

Brill app This is a great app it works really good on my Android phone I mean what more could you ask for it gets me out and about it's just an amazing app for a birder like me well done bto.

David Payne

At last Took me ages to work out how to use this. Once mastered makes record keeping really easy on the move. Easier in some ways than the Web portal.

Hazel Peters

Great! Easy to register your bird sightings and view others in the area ('local hotspots'). A great way to get people involved in conservation. It would be helpful if there was 'C' and '+' on the number keyboards to make our records more accurate in the sense of numbers. :)

Brian Hambly

Birdtrack App View recent local species within 14 days no entrys. View recent local hotspots Cornwall map goes to Norwitch / Ipswich

Phil Beet

Bird Track Helpful but could be easier

Dean Fryer-Saxby

Birdtrack version 4.3 Does exactly what you'd expect

Maya Saunders

Awesome app Works perfectly!

Mark Widdop

App works really well in the wild, and able to get some more historic sightings in via the website. But it does not allow the life target list to be update with what may have been seen at any point in my life even if I dont have dates, which is most annoying as I have to keep two lists. Please add the functionality to amend the life target lists!!

Mark Archer

Update Brilliant which does what is designed to do. When will the international update be released?

Douglas Cumming

Douglas Great way to log your Bird list and help with conservation

Mark Hobson
