StudioEmotion is happy to announce the creation of the first Autism Android Application "AutismXpress", designed to encourage people with autism to recognize and express their emotions through its fun and easy to use interface.

Autism is a lifelong disability that affects the way a person communicates and relates to other people and the world around them.

Those affected typically display major impairments in three areas: social interaction, communication and behavior (restricted interests and repetitive behaviors).

Part of the reason for creating AutismXpress is that people with autism have trouble interpreting emotions and understanding what different facial expressions may represent.

1 in 160 children have autism in some form, making it twice as common as cystic fibrosis, cerebral palsy, childhood deafness or blindness and ten times more common than childhood leukemia.

Despite the prevalence of this condition, for which there is no cure, awareness and access to appropriate services remains remarkably low.

As part of our continued commitment to helping families living and dealing with Autism on a day to day basis, we also have a Pro version with additional levels, AutismXpress Pro.

AutismXpress Pro features 2 totally new games, which are both also designed to help sufferers of Autism identify and express their emotions.

A BIG thanks to all those who download this app and for the feedback provided, which will go a long way to helping in the development of more levels in the AutismXpress Pro version which is also available on the Android market:

https://market.android.com/details?id=air.com.emotion.AutismXpress

A percentage of any revenue generated from the sale of the Pro version will be re-invested into the creation of upgrades and new Autism aid, based games.

Enjoy!!

StudioEmotion part of our Puzzle and have average installs from 50000 to 100000. Last Update May 6, 2011. Google play rating is 70.7819. Current verison is 1.1.0. Actual size 5.9 MB.

Not great Thought it might've been a good app to use with my clients but not impressed. As a behavior specialist working with children with developmental and behavioral disorders I thought it would be a good tool but sorry to say I've made up better material on paper

Louise Brown

Very good BUT!!! My three year old who is waiting to be assessed for autism loves this especially the happy face. If only you had a voice to tell him what the faces are as he thinks sleepy is sad so have to tell him what they are and follow him around as he don't want me there lol cheeky monkey, fantastic tho please make more <3

autism emotion app this app has great graphics; the buttons are large and it is great for really young children and those that have severe language or communication issues as demonstrated by my youngest his expressive level is a 3 month old at this time he is asd.

Nice build limited application Does limited application for this program because the individual emotion button live around the screen.

Could be helpful The trial is so simple that I am not interested in the full version. I need an app to match thinking thoughts and feelings

Lisa Trinh

Nothing special Would have been good if they said the emotion then followed the word with the smiley animation. My 4 yr old found the noises funny but didnt help him with anything.

Gideon Lamoureux

Sux Will not even be showing my child this app. it will not help him develop any emotional understanding... Also the fact it does not stay consistent giving stability is a major design flaw (shuffling should be an option able to be turned off)

Gwen Parker

Skunk I love the music and colours. I'm a 9 year old with autism so that's why I the app but I wish I can upgrade more stuff without money

Diane. Cochran

Stupid My cousin wit autism clicks any one just to see the picture. I thought it will scan an see.

No volume. Faces didnt stay on screen long enough and would be better to have human faces.

Son loves it My son has autism and he loves showing us how he feels using this app. No problems with this app and we have had it for over 6 months

autism x press great app. wish there were more like it. my child uses this every day. I've even used it at school when he is having a melt down. this app has helped him understand how he feels and wants to feel. now when he's sad he will say I want a happy face.

Faces move around My autistic 6 year old likes to use, but he likes to double tap the faces and when he does the faces mix up positions and it don't express the one he wants after trying to push it, so then he tries again in the new position but it moves again after he double taps it!

Joyce Johnson

Cliff Banton

I found this very helpful

Gail Ewell

gr8 app good for non verbal autistic children

Jason Nicol

Love the app I have Autism and use it every day I highly recommend for others to use

Sheila Johnson

AutismXpress It would be better if we could actually see the buttons being pushed as they seem to have disappeared from the screen

Kris Kij

What? Bad glitch. None of the buttons are visible! I could blindly click them but how useful is that? The worst part is the kiddo i work with loves this app, it helped him to express his emotions with my predecessor. I was excited when i finally found it myself but then this. He was upset when we couldn't use it, as was I. Fix it and I'll gladly update my rating.

Angelica Guerena

Feeling app I Like it because Ms. Turner had this so I decided to download this app

Claire Welsh

Initially good Really good app then failed to work, would be good in this was up and running again. Claire welsh.

Makesi Saumamao

Good app Good app for toddlers with asd.. But needs more expressions as there's only a few.. my 2 1/2 son with asd likes the noises & faces, but ends up pushing same ones over & over again & needs more voice over for the expressions but overall he likes it :)

Etihw

review from an autistic person so.. app was NOT helpful. human faces would be way easier to help identify emotions than cartoony ones. sorry but it does not help

Ettina Kitten

Did you have to compare autism prevalence to life threatening diseases like leukemia? As an autistic person with a family history of cancer, I find the comparison offensive on multiple levels. Compared to cancer or other deadly conditions, autism is nothing. And yet many people think autistic people are better off dead - that's why our murderers get such light sentences on average.

Ashley Waller

Waste of time. My 3 year old with ASD didnt enjoy it.

A Google User

Not helpful Extremely basic, poorly designed and executed

Shameka P

Faulty It may be a useful app. However I have downloaded it twice and the selection of faces don't appear.

A Google User

Laggy compared to iphone version
