Functions for travel, but destination selection search and suggestions fall short While great to get your e ticket for boarding and checking train status it fails to offer complete route planning for multi city or optional routes for a destination. For example I may know the city of where I want to go, but not the nearest Amtrak station for which I need to look up start and end destinations. Letting me select a destination and suggesting possible stops would improve this app. Second if you have a multi stop trip and want to set an arrival and departure dates it can't do it for search.

Purchasing tickets on this app was awesome It was so easy and painless all you do is buy your ticket get on the train and sit down. Show the ticket in your phone and the conductor/ the person there will scan it and you go continue whatever you were doing. You don't have to wait in line for anything or anyone, I love it, I love it, I love it ?

Really good; would love to have timetables App is great -- much nicer than some airline apps I've used (looking at you, Delta and Southwest). Clean design and does most of what I want. One feature request: I'd absolutely love to be able to view timetables through the app -- bonus points if it would show me a short list of timetables relevant to where I'm located, with an option to view or search across the full system timetable. Even if it ultimately just gave me a way to link to the timetable PDFs, that would be really nice.

Much improved over previous versions, but still buggy. This app has improved considerably and is now actually useful. Unfortunately, today it failed me. I have a valid 10-ride ticket that I purchased last week. The app only displays the eTicket for my exhausted 10-ride ticket. It does not display the eTicket preview tab for the valid, new ticket. I had to look up the payment (to be sure I wasn't going crazy) to verify I'd purchased the ticket 5 days ago. Then I looked in the Upcoming Trips section. It shows two tickets, one expired and exhausted ("Upcoming trip"? I think not!), and my current eTicket, of which I've used one trip. A current ticket is not an "upcoming" trip, it is a current ticket. Tickets should not be classified as "valid" when all rides are exhausted. Please mark multi-ride tickets as Expired and remove them from the app when all rides are used. The 5-days-after-ticket-expiration date is only one criteria to define validity of a multi-ride ticket. Exhausted rides is the other. ... A requested feature: Make certain routes markable as Favorites for easy searching, and allow setting alerts for delays or issues on those Favorite routes. Still, I appreciate the improvement. Keep up the progress!

Some things fixed with new update but still needs work Latest update NOW shows all my reservations ordered by date! But still doesn't sync with my info on the website which shows I have NO reservations made on line (I have a lot). One day.... also still shows the OLD schedule times even though they changed....smh

One suggestion I would suggest giving us the ability to select dates from a calendar instead of scrolling to find the date. Sometimes we need to see and adjust dates based on the day of the week.

Not as easy as the website Still cannot get the AAA discount on the android app, and no way to change profile information for text alerts. The multi city scheduler needs work. It will tell you no trips available one way but not the other. But having tickets on the phone, and check schedules is really nice

Makes it too hard Amtrak Rewards, and Amtrak act like two different government organizations, they make it too hard to link your trip to the app, even if you used your rewards number to make the reservation. I spend way too much time on hold dealing with Amtrak

App won't allow me to login I have an Amtrak account and can login with my member # and password on Amtrak's website , but the app requires the email address linked to the Amtrak frequent rider account and the same password but the app doesn't allow me to login.

It's ok Samsung Galaxy S5 & TabS - The last update really improved the app. but there are still functions missing from the app. If I can Track-A-Train on the website's desktop, I should be able to do that on the app. Especially since you're using Google Maps to help track the train. It's the #1 feature I use most and it would really be helpful if it were available on the app.

Pretty useless. No maps ease searching routes Used this to try to figure out train status and stops from union station to baltimore airport. Wasn't sure how many stops between and could not look that up. Also my train status was always 'not available' even when sitting on the train.

Amtrak Cannot figure out how to make changes to my account for address, password, email, etc. Doesn't interface with phone reservations when you have a disability and there is no online ability to make this type of reservation for auto train. Very limited in scope. Not worth the MB of space.

Fixed - Problems Updating Trips If you upgrade a trip and it's a higher price, you can't select a card type. Because of this you can't use an AMEX even if it's the same card as before because the CVV field is limited to 3 digits. Other than that, I have no issues with this app and use it all the time. EDIT - They fixed it, and now I have no issues with the app.

Good app Missing some small features, but biggest is you cant book 24/7 like by calling them. Also, it has limited info on rail passes and daily transit passes. But, good app, great for finding trains, and IMO done with the customer in mind

Mostly OK but not perfect The app has worked pretty well so far, but our eticket disappeared from the app during our recent long trip, so was not available when the conductor rechecked tickets after a shift change. Luckily I could find the email attachment as a backup.

Who am I? The app just will not recognize me for some reason, I open the app and it says no upcoming trips so I dig for my reservation number and there I am but when I close it and go back upcoming trips so I dig for my reservation...any suggestions out there?

Could improve The layout and functionality is generally OK but I'd suggest two improvements: 1. Add multiride ticket purchasing as an option. 2. The app should connect to a system where already known areas of construction and speed restrictions are factored into the ETA. I can't trust this application to have an accurate ETA until I can see the light from the front of the train coming down the track. This app uses the train's most recent station arrival to calculate the next arrival. It's highly inaccurate.

Many flaws but still better than their mobile site Add locational awareness, scrolling through every station in the country is dumb. Make the information sync between the station sign boards and the mobile site, they are often different. Crash less frequently.

Calendar would be better than choosing a specific date or allow app to give available fares so you can choose a date & be able to plan accordingly. As it is, picking your own dates are too restrictive & app does not give available dates so you can plan your trip.

I wish I could like it more... The app itself does everything you want fairly decently, including showing etickets and letting you buy them from your phone. However, the interface is fairly clunky and outdated and sometimes won't let you look up your own reservations, defeating the whole purpose of the app. I get that Amtrak is underfunded, but creating a new app should be fairly easy for them to do.

Nice to save paper - but doesn't handle multi-ride tickets well. I was very happy to see my monthly passes show up in the app in April - but in May, every morning I have to use "Trip Lookup" to find the ticket again. Would be better if you could at least put something in manually to store such a trip - and would be much better if the app actually worked to keep the multi-ride ticket on the device until it expired.

Won't save e-ticket I thought that it would be more convenient to buy my ticket through the app and not have to load it manually like I did when I just bought it on my computer. I figured I'd try this out since it was always awful to do. Nope, buying it on the app makes no difference so you lose your ticket and have to dig through emails to find it just like before. It's poorly designed and pretty clunky to use, also it won't let you stay logged in. Overall, I hate having to use it.

Improve planning tools Searching for a route is clumsy OR impossible. I tried Tacoma,WA to Dover, DE - No route. I then used Google Maps to find the train routes and local connections. It was great. Maybe AMTRAK should partner with Google to provide better customer service.

Email login broken, can't add bike. 1, couldn't login with my email - confirmed with mobile site and main. 2, cannot add a bicycle to a trip via mobile app, makes it worthless to me. Back to desktop, which failed to confirm my last ticket. Love Amtrak, but you make it really hard sometimes.

Good be better Can never verify pricing at the last minute. My schedules is fluid and if I'm on the move and need to book while traveling to the station, the app isn't reliable. Also, when my ticket barcode view is pulled up and I navigate away from the app I'd like to be able to come back to the app without inputting my information to get back to the ticket barcode screen.

An unfortunately clunky app first draft of an app. Defects include: - doesn't show day of the week in the date picker for reservations - doesn't show reservations for your account not made through the app - doesn't let you redeem Amtrak rewards points - the back button in the top left doesn't work on some pages - doesn't sync changes to your reservations at all reliably and has no option to force it to sync them - at least in some cases, trying to change a reservation is impossible because it prompts for the credit card info from the original booking but claims that's the wrong card info when you enter it.

Decent interface but a bit clumsy The interface is pretty easy to use and covers all the general functions one might expect from a transportation application. It would be really nice to be able to link existing trips to the application and provide a city search feature for new bookings.

What broke? Linking my rewards login with my Amtrak login has removed my upcoming trips and tickets from the app. On the web the information remains available. So, the app is a lot less useful than before merging of the logins - which was a recommended step.

Please adjust for tablets The app is OK, but only displays in portrait. I use it on my tablet and the display won't auto-rotate to landscape. Also, you should just have login email as opposed to member #...I can never remember those for this account, airline accounts, etc. Thanks!!

Does not provide functionality it claims Since the app has an 'upcoming trips' section, I would expect it to show trains purchased online or group tickets my rewards number was used on. However it does not. Disappointing. If I look up a reservation in the app, there's no way for me to add it to upcoming trips either. Locking my device or leaving the app removes everything I searched and I have to go find the reservation all over again

Needs Amtrak itself This app is mediocre. You can't type search criteria, despite the appearance of an option to do so. Finding stations and routes is clumsy and inefficient. Pop-up help/information windows don't populate any data. You're probably better off using the website!

Broken and made intentionally hard to use I signed up for amtrak rewards 3 years ago. The app disagrees with how many points i have masking it impossible to spend a single point so every year they expire. Also, passwords for amtrak rewards are required to be impractical with use of the rewards and is different from the regular amtrak login. The choices for layovers are nonexistent. The choices for method of travel include amtrak buses and often doesn't allow you to purchase. The app forgets all of your information every use. I ran out of space.

Doesn't update unless you logoff I like the app and it's convenient when needing to show ticket or what time you train leaves or arrives. However, my trips never appear unless I completely logout of the app. Also, my rewards pus don't show unless I login through the website

Train status not updated & no track info It is currently 15 min after train was supposed to leave, we haven't boarded yet but the app still says the train is on time. I also can't find anywhere on the app info on what track my train (or any train) is leaving from, even though the track assignments are posted on the terminal screens. Not very helpful app.

My round trip from Merced CA to Oakland, Ca... The train ticket purchase at the Merced CA station was ok but the attendant the sold tickets was BEYOND RUDE AND WALKED VERY VERY SLOW TELL ME I SHOULD GET TO THE STATION EARLY NEXT TIME! I explained there was still 10 minutes till scheduled departure & if it weren't for a San Francisco 49rs player that came at the same time & needed to get to football training we would have never been sold tickets. The conductor was very very nice and reassured us that the train wasn't scheduled to depart for 10 minutes.

Simple and easy Love this app, love Amtrak. This app helps me to buy my ticket, even same day, keep track of my boarding pass, check the status of my train. It's awesome. I ride the train probably once a month or so and this app makes figuring out routes and purchasing my ticket so easy, plus I don't have to find a printer or keep track of any papers because my ticket is right on my phone. So easy!

Have a calendar handy when you use it It's a functional app, but one essential for a travel app is missing : A pop-up calendar when you enter your dates. You either have to know what day of the week your travel date is, or have a calendar with you. Oddly enough, the mobile version of the amtrak website has the pop-up calendar. I guess that was too much to ask for the app.

Decent, needs notifications I like the simplicity of the app, however the information provided on train status is often very wrong. I've missed the train on more than one occasion due to it arriving and leaving much earlier than scheduled. Live notifications of train progress would be ideal to help with this. One should be able to setup alerts through the app. It's rather Spartan at this point. Getting to your monthly pass to get it scanned takes multiple clicks. It should be instant, not buried three levels down.

Not all it could be Guest rewards never works showing correct points balance . Redemption does not work. Applying vouchers or coupons does not work. Monthly tickets always disappear before end of month. Train status would be great if it would tell you track number for departure stations.

Still behind Adequate functionality, but you can't store a credit card. This makes the app very cumbersome for people that need to make changes on the fly. NJ Transit, NY waterways, and every other app allows card storage. It's just silly.

Can't paste password? What POSSIBLE value is there in allowing me to paste but logically preventing a pasted password from working. Same "security" logic is used on the website. Their programmers must be from 3rd grade in India. Ever heard of a password manager? Major FAIL.

Still a BIG REMAINING BUG: Please immediately remove exhausted multi-ride tickets. Tickets are done after 10 rides, not 5 days after they expire. It's different criteria. These exhausted tickets stick around as "current" tickets, hogging space for actual current tickets, and force the actual current tickets into the Upcoming Trips area. Similarly, other exhausted multi-ride tickets can appear in Upcoming Trips area. JUST REMOVE EXHAUSTED TICKETS WHEN THE RIDES ARE ALL USED.

Everything it claims you're allowed to do with the app does not. nothing works. no schedules are available nothing is available I've got tickets in hand I've got a route numbers train numbers bus numbers nothing comes up it's worthless its a waste of my phone space Amtrak letting me down on every freakin level

Do yourself a favor, do not travel on this old fashion system, read reviews online and you will be surprised how many people including myself have been screwed without mercy. They are a monopoly, they practically don't have any competition, that's why they don't care about customers.


Still substandard Still no senior tickets because dev assumes seniors don't use apps or that others don't use app to book FOR senior. But kids do? Completed trips still "current". No edit/change trip option, No guest rewards number auto link, shouldn't need train number to check status if you have station! At least mimic julie phone functionality! No route map, no live map, no fare saver. Really clunky travel planner that says "no trips available" because it's not smart enough to factor connections and it didn't explain why.

Stopped working I use to use this app all the time. But it has suddenly stopped working. On multiple devices. I keep getting a error that says can't verify price R416. Amtrak support is no help. I hope the fix soon.

Most wonderful train app Looking up my booked trip is a breeze. The clear itinerary and convenient QR Code e-ticket are a delight. Love the ability to add the trip to calendar with one button. It even creates different events for each segment. The app definitely exceeded all my expectations!

Slow Updates On several occasions, if I leave a certain station like Toledo, Ohio it still shows up we havent left till maybr an hour or two later Some days it slow but other no problem. Love the app, love Amtrak

Not working right! Some of my trips don't show up even after I searched for them and found them, others do. Purchases made with cash don't show up at all. My points balance says 0 when it's not. If you pull out your eTicket then switch over to a different app, then back to Amtrak again when conductor shows up, you have to search for your eTicket all over again. Up to now I was very satisfied but now I'm not.


Real-time train status I love the function of finding out the latest train status in this App! Although seeing the train delayed is a very sad thing...

Please Fix - No Rewards/ Upgrades The app works fine for me so far, for buying single/round trip tickets. However, two problems: 1. It won't let me login to my rewards so my trips (bought via app) aren't feeding into my rewards program; 2. I can't upgrade appropriately. I have to call to complete a ticket upgrade (coach to business). If I do it from my phone, It charges as if I am buying a whole new ticket, instead of just the upgrade price. Mostly, I'd really appreciate it, if I could sign into my rewards in the app.

What exactly does it do? Crashed, issued an apology for not being able to display my reservation because of the way it was made -online. When checking to see if my daughter's train was on time I was asked for a train number, there was nothing on her reservation to indicate anything other than a name, no number. Pretty useless.

Tickets purchased through work platforms like Concur, Amex don't show up in the app even if the Amtrack rewards number is used at time of booking. Makes the app quite useless. This integration should be easy to do - most airlines do this. It allows you to look up tickets based on the booking number - but you can't save it for future reference.

Missing important features The app works well as long as you pay full fare and purchase your tickets via the app. However, there is no option to search Smart Fares or other specials while using the app and if you buy your tickets (while logged into your account) on the full website, the app does not sync to acknowledge your trip, including that there is no way to add the trip to the app once you look it up with your reservation number. It works as far as it goes but there is much that could be added to make it top notch.

Absolute garbage - can't display online reservations on account or manually What's the purpose of having an app that does not display basic account details? If you're a transit app, that means showing current reservations and related barcodes, and allowing changes or cancellations from the app. It's not rocket science, but Amtrak certainly does not get it because reservations purchased online (on same account because I had a voucher and app won't accept voucher as payment) do not display. In fact you cannot even manually search for an online res.

Unreliable The app seemed to be working decently until my return trip when I kept getting an error saying that it couldn't look up my trip (or display my eticket) due to the way in which my ticket was purchased. The app is good in that it accurately mirrors the Amtrak website. The bad news is the website is poor. The multi-city tab must've been created by someone who's never traveled by any means other than a train. The user should be able to enter a departing station and an arrival station, and then be able to select from available itineraries. I want to take the train from Kansas City to Fort Collins. I don't know if it's a multi-city route or not (aren't all routes "multi-city"?). The app says I can't get there from here. Why is Fort Collins listed as a station that you can't get to? I see it's a bus route, but how do I get there?

Email in App I love the ease of use for boarding the train. However, this app would take me a lot further if it had a current and timely schedule for the trains. I end up using WSDOT for train schedule. Less functionality than you think 1. doesn't always (or ever?) show tickets bought online with the same Amtrak account. 2. doesn't support Amtrak refund vouchers. 3. doesn't show days of the week when choosing a date. 4. The "current trip" on the home page is often a PAST trip. 5. No connection between reservations and the app's on-time lookup feature. 6. Doesn't remember my AAA info (for Amtrak discount). 7. QR code can only be scanned once, but on some trips, conductors want to scan it twice. 8. Haven't noticed any updates/improvements.

Crippled App :( The station lookup is a giant list and you have to scroll through every station in the entire country to find a station code. If you do know the code you want, you can't enter it manually. The map lookup has no search feature - enough said. When you finally enter the station codes you want, out only returns purchase/pricing info for business or first class. On the bright side, it would be nice to have a digital ticket vs paper ... if you can buy the one you want.

Great app Got to a station without a ticket office only to find the kiosk wasn't working. A bit panicked my wife suggested we try this app. Within 5 minutes had our tickets and our trip went as planned. Easy to use, and it's nice to know if the train you are waiting for is on time.,or if not, when it is actually expected.

Unreliable I'm able to purchase tickets but once I close the app, the eticket doesn't show up and the app crashes when I touch 'my trips' or whatever the link at the bottom is called. If you try to change departure it will work the first time. But if you try to change departure again, it forgets your credit card and won't allow you to enter it. Refuses to change departure with the error that you have to use the same credit card as the original purchase. Crashes often and freezes when checking train arrival or departur

Doesn't always work Over half the time when I try to change it cancel a trip it tells me I have to use the same credit card which I am. Once it does this you can't even cancel the trip for a refund our ecedit the only way to change the ticket is to call them. It seems it simply doesn't have your original card info any longer.

If Amtrak is going to fail this consistently at being on time, you would think they would at least make sure that the app's major useful feature at least works. Clunky App Amtrak should outsource their app to a company with more experience making app. The station look up is very crude at best. There are times when I know there is direct service between stations, several times a week, but the app can't find it. I realize that Amtrak isn't an making company but there are plenty of companies that make transit apps that you can hire. Ask me and I will tell you my favorite.

Was good until latest update This is a very good app when it is working. The issue that I have been having is that it will not keep me signed in properly so I can't get to my tickets unless I sign in right then. Then it will only let me sign in if I am using Wi-Fi which is not available at most stations and the Wi-Fi on the train is not the best. Please fix this app.

But when I arrived at the station it returned an error connecting which prevented me from using the electronic ticket on my phone. I has to stand in a long line to print a paper ticket. Until recently this app has been great,...almost always super fast and kept me logged in with access to my e-tickets until I actually pressed "log out". That WAS a great function until now (the past 2 weeks - I have v2.2.8 on my Verizon Wireless Galaxy S7). Interesting that in what's new --> "Rules for new passwords have been updated to improve customer security". Now the app logs me out all the time (either due to the app crashing or if i "close all apps" to clear out all my windows). I'm probably going to start printing my tickets again as a backup now that the app has become less reliable. I'm hopeful this will be resolved if the Amtrak app team finds more use cases like this.

Ticket Timeout Good interface and easy to switch trains if plans change. But the eTicket times out after some interval on your trip such that it won't display again, and when you're getting it checked again, like when leaving Penn Station, it's inconvenient. Make sure you have the ticket emailed to you or printed out until that gets fixed.


Still substandard Still no senior tickets because dev assumes seniors don't use apps or that others don't use app to book FOR senior. But kids do? Completed trips still "current". No edit/change trip option, No guest rewards number auto link, shouldn't need train number to check status if you have station! At least mimic julie phone functionality! No route map, no live map, no fare saver. Really clunky travel planner that says "no trips available" because it's not smart enough to factor connections and it didn't explain why.

Slow updating Could be more convenient than a piece of paper, however it doesn't immediately update. The app doesn't show a new reservation until apparently the day of travel. For some reason it only shows the last reservation made and used. I always have to print a hard copy for backup, just in case. UPDATE: Amtrak changed password security, so I wasn't getting updates. Working as it should now. Upped the rating a star.


Utterly useless The app does not have every station,(where's Germantown, MD?), and provides no actual data for the one thing they're responsible for. Trains. Can't even purchase a ticket. Total waste. Get it together Amtrak.

Worst ever My train is delayed 3 hours so far and I can't log in to my account due to 'a system error'. This is not the first time this has happened to me. Totally bullshit.

Disappointing I cannot view reservations not made on the app; nor can I input reservations for future access via the app. Really - the national railroad cannot write a comprehensive app?

Forgettable Doesn't retain your planned and paid for trips and you need to repeatedly enter your personal information when making a new booking. Amateurish at best

Functional The app does its job but needs an update. First, store the boarding pass in the app so that it doesn't need a connection when the conductor is collecting tickets. Secondly, take me from my ticket/boarding pass directly to train status. Why should I need to re-key the information?

Works great except It is easy to look up schedules, fares and book tickets, but for some reason, when I go to trip lookup, it only shows one trip from April 2016, and not my future trip. Why?

Stopped working Reliability has diminished over the updates for the app. Not sure what happened, but glitches frequently.

The App stopped working on AT&T network and I've reported it twice and no one has fixed it yet.

I'm an Uber driver I wanted to use this app to check the arrivals all day long it's a shame that I cannot see arrival unless I have a train number I really will like to have that option on this app to see what times trains come into town so I can do business

Doesn't update information Just booked two trips and the app does not have them available. In order to get the reservation up I needed to manually enter the confirmation number and then it still didn't update. Need to work out some bugs with this one.

Info not complete I mark all my boxes, hit payment and it comes back my info is not complete, but it doesn't say what it needs and I have checked and looks good to me. It should go to spot needing fixed

Ahhhhh not so much It all works, but short sighted planning such as allowing you to pick destinations they don't travel to is why I gave it 2 stars.

Overall good, but... It shows trips taken in the past 5 days as your default "upcoming trip" at the bottom of the main screen instead of any potential future trip. It should only show your next trip in that spot, for easiest ticket access when boarding.

Doesn't show my reservations It's ridiculous that even after logging in, it doesn't show my trips. Have to go thru the trouble to enter reservation number plus email or phone number to search.

Latest version broken With the latest version update, I can't retrieve my ticket without wifi. Why it can't retrieve ticket using mobile data? This renders the app useless for me.

Geegig I don't like it that ticket prices are higher using the app and it doesn't allow you to use any options for discounts, so you get better prices if you go online. However, I do like that it saves your cities so that you don't have to search for them every time.

Track, please! In stops without a station, it would be really helpful if this app would inform you which track the train will be on, so you can be on the right side of the tracks.

Unreliable and outdated This app is unreliable, wont even show me my current tickets. I find myself having to use email or going to the website.

Never Works When Needed The app never allows me to pull up my tickets, I don't get delay alerts, it's really a useless app.
