Apk file size: 1.6 MB

The premium player for listening to audio books.

Download thousands of free audio books from, or purchase best selling mp3 audio book titles, or listen to audio books that you already own. Never lose your place in an audiobook again thanks to the undo/redo bookmarking system.

Unlike music players which include audiobook functionality as an add on, the Ambling BookPlayer is designed from the ground up to be an audiobook player. The Ambling BookPlayer offers unique features designed to make audiobook listening easy, frustration-free and uncomplicated for everyone:

* Never lose your place again. Fully automatic bookmarking for every book, with a revolutionary intelligent bookmark history system that lets you undo or redo any change in your listening position. You can also view and return to hundreds of previous listening positions, effortlessly returning exactly to your past points of listening.

* Audio file management is completely automatic and hidden. All audio file transitions are seamless and invisible, and can even occur mid-chapter without you being aware of the transition. For books downloaded using the player you don't ever need to know the names of the audio files, how many there are, or which file is currently playing.

* Enjoy content using familiar Chapter divisions, not arbitrary file limits. Navigate and track your current position in both the chapter and the book.

* The library provides an uncluttered view of your Books (not the files). It also plays the books in a series in the correct sequence.

* The clean interface is focused on audiobook listening. Quickly jump back when you need to listen to something again.

* Finding and listening to good audiobooks is simple and easy. You pick the book and the player automatically downloads it from the site ready for listening.

* Use Bluetooth car stereo systems and Bluetooth headphones to listen and control the audio playback. You just need to have your phone in your pocket.

The Ambling BookPlayer will quickly become your favorite player.

The Ambling BookPlayer Pro edition includes additional functionality which is not included in the Personal edition.

The Pro edition further adds extensive Library functions, organize your books by Series, save your Favorite Bookmarks with optional text and/or audio notes, and a Sleep Timer.

Whats new

Fixed a problem where the BlueTooth media buttons could revert back to the default music player after another application temporarily took the audio focus.
When deleting audio files the .nomedia and image files are now removed, and the directory is deleted if it is empty.
An issue where starting the player sometimes went to the library screen instead of the play controls for the current book was fixed.

Ambling Books part of our Books & Reference and have average installs from 1000 to 5000. Last Update Oct. 22, 2011. Google play rating is 85.8883. Current verison is 2.13. Actual size 1.6 MB.

A new experience. I have never used an audio book app before! This is a pleasant new experience. I bought the personal app because my cellphone has only got a built in 1gb sd card and there is no way to tell the app to download to my 16gb external sd. The personal app means that I can download on my pc, transfer to my external sd card and then use read from sd card option to access the audio book. Apart from that minor hassle it's great to relax and have book read to me. The free audio books seem good so far.

Create new bookshelf graphics for 5* Easy to use. Needs narrator speed adjusting capabilities. Also, an inbuilt volume booster for books with quiter recordings. Some recordings are rendered useless when on noisier public transport, even with the phone headset volume at 'max'. Smooth & reliable performance. Using SG3

Sleep I love this app but why are there two paid versions? All I want to do is add the sleep timer and I have to pay full price for Pro. Can you make an option where you can upgrade to Pro from Personal for the price difference?

Excellent Audiobook Player When I switched from iOS to android the most disappointing thing about it was the lack of audiobook support. This app fixed that void and then some. I have been using it for years now and have enjoyed it greatly.

Starting to look a little dated UI could do with a revamp but rock solid functionality.

Great audiobook player, though a bit dated now Since I wrote my original review of this app years ago the landscape of player features has changed. There are some features that I would like to see added to Ambling. The top one is the ability to vary the playback speed. This is found in a number of other players, but noticeably missing in Ambling. As a result I'm changing my rating from 5 stars to 4. Once the features are brought up to par with other players I will be happy to change my rating back to 5 stars.

Great for listening to your own collection. Overall I am pleased with this application for AudioBooks. The only thing it is missing is the ability to adjust the narration speed like with the Audible app. Hopefully that feature will be added soon, as I have seen it requested by other reviewers as well.

Great I've been using this app for more than a year now for playing my mp3 audiobooks. I would have liked for it to get a more "modern" look but other than that it's a great app that imports and plays audiobooks to perfection. I especially like that I can plug-in/unplug headphones to start/stop playback.

Love it Had this app for well over a year and its my best purchase yet. It automatically bookmarks where you left off in an audiobook so you can always pause and resume frequently without hassle. Or quickly jump back 15s or 1 min. Love it! Thanks for the app guys

Please update Very good podcast player, but I'd love to see more stuff added or different looks.

Unimpressed... The developers can't be bothered to make this app automatically import information and audio from the Lite version when you upgrade!

Love it I use it every day for aufiobooks from the library.

Almost great Needs more audio books to select from. Selection is poor.

Great app! Works great! Google won't allow them to put an upgrade button. All purchases must go through the play store.

GM This is a great app for audiobooks.

Katelynn Waggoner

Great app, great developer! Just a really solid quality app. I've had this since it was realeased in 2009 (and should have posted a review sooner), but it does everything it needs to and does it well. Love the 15 second skip options, great for when I'm distracted by something else. The developer is top-notch, responds quickly and is very helpful.

Worth it I used the lite version and upgraded to get the extra features of the personal version.Love this app as I have a commute of about an hour each day and his helps keep me sane.To be honest 90% of my literature consumption is via this app as I can listen on the move and while doing other things - reliable and easy to use as well.

So far so good Very customizable and worked first time through. Wished book search was easier. Otherwise better than others i've tried.

The recordings are way to low. Change that and I'll make it 5 stars

Great app used the free version for a year before upgrading so I could have the sleep timer and upload from my SD card. Never had a problem.

Will not let me access my online account??? I can still log on online...but not on my droid MyTouch??? So I have no access to my library! This bites!

Good App Works pretty good. A little awkward adding files, but I like fact that I can listen, stop, go listen to something else, and come back to file and it Saved my place on each one.

No option to pause play when Bluetooth disc. This is such a basic feature and yet it's not even an option among the 50 options already there. Please add this!
