The ActiveOBD offers a free and simple multi functional information display for your Subaru vehicle. Despite the initial stage of its development, the application is able to reveal some sensitive information missing on the display you might already have.

The ActiveOBD fetches the information directly from your vehicle via the OBD port and operates completely independently from the multi function display of your vehicle so you're absolutely free to use both in parallel.

- Subaru vehicle MY 2012+ (OBD CAN communication protocol)
- compliant ELM327-type adapter (see below).

Compliant adapters:
- OBDLink LX Bluetooth r1.2 ( - RECOMMENDED;
- Vgate iCar2 Bluetooth / WiFi (

Conditionally compliant adapters:
- ELM327 v1.4-1.5 (including noname clones);
- ELM327 v2.1 geniune only (

Unsupported adapters:
- ELM327 v2.1 noname clones.

BETA testing & problem reporting:

AWD tab
- front wheels position
- Torque split front-rear (Lineartronic Active Torque Split AWD; solenoid duty) *
- front-rear Slit (over-rotation)
- Coolant temperature
- Engine oil temperature

Info tabs
- Automatic transmission (AT / CVT) Oil deterioration degree
- AT / CVT Fluid temperature
- Fuel Level (percent of total tank capacity) **
- alternative Fuel Consumption counter since last refill ***
and more.

Trouble Codes tab
- Diagnostic Trouble Codes (OBD DTC) with Subaru-specific description
- clearing trouble codes

UI tips:
- Menu is accessible an Android-way or by the title bar clicking;
- AWD/Info tabs: Long-click on the item (icon) starts drag and drop within the tab;
- Info tabs: Short-click on the item (icon) toggles the display mode (icon/description);
- AWD/Info tabs: Short-click on a free cell - insert the new item (from the list of unallocated). Note: items availability depends on the vehicle, use this when connected.

* The Subaru AWD system has some hydraulic pressure active constantly providing about 5% torque transferring from front to rear. Further torque distribution is done dynamically (on demand), ActiveOBD shows this dynamic value.

** The fuel level is a subject for fluctuations. The application needs about 5-7 minutes of continuous running before the fuel level value can be displayed.

*** A standard fuel consumption calculation approach is based on fuel amount counter at the time of its consumption. ActiveOBD offers an alternative – a calculation based on mileage and fuel level (in percent). According to the current implementation the counter is being reset on refill (done with ignition switched off), just open the State mode after refilling – the fuel consumption counter should reset automatically.

You have to pair with the ELM327 device before using this application, Google Nexus guide (Pair with a Bluetooth device) : part of our Transportation and have average installs from 10000 to 50000. Last Update May 4, 2016. Google play rating is 77.3481. Current verison is 1.3.6. Actual size 3.2 MB.

Not good Won't connect with my 2015 Crosstrek .

Sam Ho

Works for me I drive a 2015 subaru impreza with a elm 327 and works great. Good job with app interface is too dark.

Jeffrey Spalding

App works great now Accesses a number of data points other OBD apps cannot, such as CVT fluid temperature. Been looking for this feature for quite awhile as I tow a trailer on a regular basis and want to keep an eye on CVT fluid temperature.

Zmey Ognen

Very impressed! Installed this app to see what it can do for my 2015 3.6r Subaru. I am impressed with it. The first app to show me the ATF temperature which to me is the most important indicator for the health of my transmission. If I may recommend something it would be to work on the interface readability as it is a bit too dark for my personal taste. Cannot wait to see how this app will develop. Keep the good job up and thank you!

yannis peltekis

The app just Keep asking for connection I tried 2 different obdii bluetooth connectors (1.5 &2.1) and cannot connect. Maybe doesnt work for my09 impreza. I tried with the older and the latest update

Matt Auker

Doesn't work for me Nothing happens when hooked up. It shows my front wheels turn left and right. Nothing else. 2013 crosstrek CVT

Daniel Hopkins

Works even on older Subarus I have a 2008 Subaru outback and this app still is able to show most of the data. One possible addition, would be showing tpms tire pressure data but I know that the PIDs aren't well documented.

Ryno Eksteen

Will not contact to my Wi-Fi OBD2 I have a 2005 Subaru Impreza RS 2.5 it goes up to 75% contacting then starts over have tryd everything

Jess Armour

I Great app. Love that I can keep an eye on dpf. Works with out my07 and my12 foresters. However some features of the app don't work. Everything on the temperature, fuel and status won't work as well as the km to next oil change.

Ossama Mohamed

Not working, and request Bluetooth to open

Adrian Black

Works great on 2015 Forester XT How do I get the Pro version to see those other PID values? Awesome!!

Daniel Mccrimmon

Ditching Torque for this. Unbelievable app! Works 100%. Cant wait for pro!

Mert Tanriogen

The Bluetooth connection keeps breaking-off Bluetooth connection keeps breaking-off then the app reconnects the breaks off again in an endless circle... I use the recommended vgate adapter... Could you kindly do an bug check? Thank you...

Remco V

Looks promising, just can not getting it to work I have an eu 2009 outback with can bus but unfortunately can not get passed 50% using a noname obd bt connector using elm327 v1.5. The sofware looks good and nicely orientated. It takes a few times to understand how to get to the setup menu. Hopefully you can help me to get it to work!

Robert Stegle

Ok UI is not my favorite. Would really love guages instead of just a numeric interface. Only tool that seems to show trans temp for subies. Is there any way to get all the temp guages on one screen? Boggles my mind that I cant get coolant temp, oil temp and trans temp on one screen.

Michael Drews

Works now with insecure connection. Would be good if you could add dpf temperature. Also intake manifold or boost pressure. People would pay big $ for app if you could do forced regeneration. Otherwise great app for 2010 Forester.

Simon Johnstone

Awesome I use this on a BT OBD2 unit I picked up on eBay about 6 years ago for a few dollars and it works fine. It will be awesome if they can add more features in the future even if they make it a premium paid app.

Jess Armour

Dpf Is there any way to get the dpf functions back since the update?

Chris Hockert

Kind of buggy Seems to have a lot if bugs. Most of the guages and displays in the App don't work. Downloaded this in desperate hopes that I could figure out why my air bag light is on but even though this App is Subaru specific it still doesn't pull any more information than torque.

John Boland

Now that I know a little more about it, should I get ads in Active OBD even though I paid for Torque?

Justin Turcotte

Could be a great app... This would be an awesome app if it only worked 100% or even 75% but unfortunately it only shows catalytic converter temperature on my 2012 Outback

A good free app. I was able to connect to Scan Tool OBDLink LX Bluetooth on my Subaru XV MY 2013 by choosing secure connection in setting preferences. But the symbols are hard to understand, since this is the first time I have an OBD connector installed in the car. Well done! Thank you.

Ossama Mohamed

not work and trying to connect to ECU and stop in 25% and repeat .Subaru xv 2016 and the connector is OBDLink LX
